Intro well it is almost baseball season we are kind of waking up out of the Slumber 60 70 degrees out some of these days and we do have the new updated photos of the Progressive Field renovation with people kind of surprised that this is really how it turned out take a look at this the Progressive Field right Field Upper Deck renovation is a good use of space and it will be popular like a similar social space is at Kors field but why not remove the old roof and steal grandstand beams which is where the Renovations previous right Field Upper Deck seats were and then they became the shipping containers they ripped the shipping containers out and now you can see they've just left a few rows up front and then behind that it looks like on the final four sections to the left they've got some type of overhang maybe to cover fans from the Sun on the right area it seems like they've got maybe a team shop area concessions things like that let's be honest guys this is an extremely lowbudget version of what the Colorado Rockies did with Co field this is an updated photo the first thing I actually want to talk about in looking at this renovation a lot of people don't know this because this is technically like a little detail but if you look right down the first base line they actually added about three or four sections of seating they readded them to the upper deck Now They removed seating down the Third Baseline the final four sections and they're doing basically the exact same thing to where they're kind of putting these overhangs in that is as far as it goes you can see down the third Baseline the final four sections the upper section the the main portion of the upper deck got ripped out but they reinstalled sections down the first Baseline to the point where there's even a little crevice you can see like the little crevice it's a little bit strange I wonder who's going to actually sit there but either way so that's why the attendance is really not going to change much I will say I was pretty surprised last year the Guardians sold out a few games and they actually had an attendance of around 38,000 which I didn't think was even possible at this Stadium based on what we've seen in terms of the World Series drawing around 37k then how does a regular season game get 38k I know it's based on standing room but it's pretty crazy either way what is the big issue with this renovation well it is the exposed steel supports that were behind and hidden by the right field upper deck and then by the shipping attainers that's going to be a real big issue I think it is going to look very ugly and the reason they cannot remove it is because that's all connected to the toothbrush light towers out in right field now I guess you could say what if they removed the light towers then they could completely redesign that area and take those supports off maybe that would have been an option for them but guys let's be honest the amount of money that it would have cost they're not interested in doing something like that they would have had to have completely reconfigured the right field upper deck and unfortunately anytime you have those steel supports exposed the only other place we've really seen that at and I hate to bring this out but it's true it is FedEx field and FedEx Field is the worst stadium in the NFL by far it's not even close so this is really a bit of an issue in terms of this renovation for Progressive Field they're really struggling on how to handle this right field up deck you would think they would cave in and say all right whatever we will just put a bar out there make it look nice but the reason they can't do that is due to their bad attendance this is the the reason this whole right Field Upper Deck mess is happening in the first place because they had such bad attendance year after year after year after year they had to change it the Rockies technically had something similar but it's different because the Rockies were always at least getting people in their right Field Upper Deck it just wasn't very active and they put a bar out there and people will be out there every single game with Progressive Field because they don't utilize that space 85% of the time if you put a bar out there it would be closed through 85% of the games I still wish they would have done it because it would look better and it would kind of fill the area up and block the steel beams supports behind it like you just don't want that look of the skeleton beams and then I do also have to mention I'm not sure I'm guessing they filled those seats in like those seats that they just put in have to be blue there's no way they would put in the aqua colored seats down that line so some of the seats in this Stadium right now like on the lower bowl they're royal blue they're like dark blue while other seats are still the greenish color that the stadium opened with they will be replacing all of them with blue to kind of fit the Guardians a little bit better I think it's a really good renovation going with the dark blue seats personally but it's going to be a weird influx this year it's I think it's going to look really bad honestly like you're going to have half of the seats blue and half of them still Green in it'll look really cheap I mean you would think they would be able to rip all of them out the same season which is pretty much what everyone does and not do it in two stages but apparently they weren't able to get all the seats at one time they're also adding on this you know building towards the back of the building almost like a stone xterior that looks pretty nice right there and there are just some more construction photos of what's going on at Progressive Field so that is the renovation we'll see how it ends up looking you also do have the brand new Terrace Club area where they are taking out all of the glass and then I did also Browns want to talk about the Cleveland Browns because talked about the Indians or excuse me the Guardians now I'm going to talk about the Browns so you can take a look at this opinion no taxpayer handouts for pro stadiums this is something that more and more people are adopting this type of opinion I think pretty much if anyone was explained how sports stadiums work they would all have this exact same opinion you're like the idea that taxpayer money needs to go to stadiums and billionaires to make the team more valuable because that's what a brand new Pro Stadium does it makes a team more valuable more attractive if you want to sell a team like just look at the the commander well honestly the commanders are probably a bad example because the commander sold for a lot of money but just in general stadiums if you have a really nice Stadium that's only five years old that's beautiful this the team is going to be more attractive and in essence go up in value so if you have the general public Everyday People people paying for a stadium that's going to make a billionaire owner richer it just doesn't make any sense so this is just a recent article talking about and they did use kind of a bad photo there of Cleveland Browns stadium before it was even renovated so that had to have been like 2010 2011 now I think the Browns You could argue the Browns have three options either leave Cleveland entirely head maybe south or west build a new stadium development around Cleveland whe whether it's five five miles away 10 miles away whatever it would be a dome stadium very likely I I mean the Brook Park area makes sense because it's right near the airport and it's still only 10 miles away from Cleveland your second option is to just renovate Cleveland Brown Stadium which is something they've discussed it would cost around a billion dollars I'm not exactly sure what they would do to the stadium I would imagine some type of overhang like massive overhang that's probably something they don't really want to do at least haslum doesn't want to do I think he wants a dome really bad or the third and they would also have to redevelop the entire land in between Cleveland brown stadium and Lake Area all of that land would be need to be would need to be redeveloped which would cost a lot of money or the third option is you're able to find another area in Cleveland and build a new stadium which also seems very unlikely I think originally they wanted to do that and then the Cleveland Mayor said no you're not getting any taxpayer money and that's why Haslam started shopping around and he made that agreement to buy the massive plot of land right next to the airport in Brook Park so I think those are the three options for the Browns when it comes to a potential new stadium or a massive Stadium renovation if they do get the stadium renovation there's not going to be a huge emphasis on the stadium itself it's more the surrounding area and then maybe I mean I can't see them putting a roof on Cleveland Brown Stadium they would just build a new one it just doesn't make sense it's not logical and and teams never do that where they add a roof to their Stadium when you could just build a brand new one although I will say the estimates on a new Cleveland Brown Stadium wherever it gets built it's going to be $2.5 billion you got new Nissan stadium in Nashville right around 2.2 billion that's a translucent roof the estimates are around2 to $2.5 billion because it will be there's going to be a roof on it I don't know if it's going to be a dome or retractable I've heard probably Dome seems like teams are really going away from retractable roofs they just cost more money and they're barely ever open but uh we will see in terms of the Browns future plans then for a timeline on the Cleveland Browns situation I think it's it's going to be elongated situation it's going to play out here there's going to be negotiation tactics it we may not even know anything until next year I'm hoping we get some renderings maybe early conceptional renderings on the Brook Park site and that area could be potentially developed and maybe even get some Stadium renderings but don't hold your breath on that remember the Chicago Bears have been flirting with our Arlington Heights for about two and a half years and and they really never released any real Stadium rendering they released a district with a pool surrounding the stadium like little ponds but the stadium itself never really got revealed I think the Bears situation is a year further than the Browns although who knows the Browns might fast track it uh we will see either way guys that is going to do it for this video make sure you follow me on X link to that's always in the description
