Ben Finnegan explains the many possible reasons for Daylight Saving Time ⏰

if we didn't have daylight saving we'd have sunrise at 3 a.m. this weekend the clocks spring forward it's daylight saving what's up with that what there's many ideas as to why Daylight Saving happens nobody really knows the exact reason in Ireland one of the reasons is war war one it was a fuel saving mechanism so that it was an extra hour in the evening so people were able to save on fuel instead of using it to power the lights there's many people who think we should be in summertime all the time in 2019 the European Parliament passed a law which would move the entirety of Europe into summertime but it still hasn't happened one of the reasons people believe it hasn't happened is brexit we can't have two time zones on two different parts of the island brexit and another reason is the invasion of Russia in Ukraine it's just delayed everything in Europe but for now we're stuck with going an hour ahead in the summer and an hour back in the winter
