uh David M the ABC host asked kamla Harris about Donald Trump he he said this was a post from president Trump about this upcoming election just weeks away he said when I win those people who cheated and then he lists donors voters election officials he says will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law which will include long-term prison sentences one of your campaign's top lawyers responded saying we won't let Donald Trump int intimidate us we won't let him suppress the vote is that what you believe he's trying to do here now KLA Harris responded by saying that Trump was fired by 81 million people that he is a disgrace that she would not allow him to intimidate her that the world's leaders are laughing at him and then M turns to Trump and says okay president Trump infuriatingly he kept calling him president Trump rather than former president Trump but anyway he turns to Trump and says you know what's your response and Trump says well let me just tell you about world leader Victor orbon one of the most respected men they call him a strong man he's a tough person smart prime minister of Hungary they said why is this whole world blowing up three years ago it wasn't why is it blowing up and he said because you need Trump back as president they were afraid of him China was afraid North Korea was afraid of him look Victor Orban said it he's that he's the most respected most feared person in the world is Donald Trump we had no problems when Trump was President end of quote so who is this Victor Orban this prime minister of Hungary who Trump holds in such high esteem well his influence over Trump and the Republican party is considerable uh the the CPAC the conservative political action conference uh was hosted by Victor orbon in Hungary Tucker Carlson did his show from Budapest the the capital of Hungary for for an entire week uh interviewed Orban Orban came over to the United States he spoke to a republican groups he he spoke at a CPAC conference in in Texas he is the only European leader who takes Putin's side against Ukraine uh he he does what he's called what what Europeans refer to as soft fascism uh this is what he said when he was talking to the Republican audience down down in Texas last year before last he said Hungary is actually an incubator where experiments are done on the future of conservative policies Hungary is a place where we didn't just talk about defeating the progressives and liberals and causing a Conservative Christian political turn but we actually did it and you know he largely has Steve Bannon called him Trump before Trump Casey Michael on Ms on NBC news says you know from targeting migrants to inflaming an ethnonationalist base from attacking the press to whipping up nativist conspiracies from ushering in unprecedented corruption and tearing down basic Democratic protections trumpism is increasingly indistinguishable from Orban ISM so you know I I first learned about orbon on back in 1989 when my friend Jerry Schneiderman and I were uh in Budapest for a couple of days hanging out in in a big old hotel fancy old hotel on you know that was very cheap and as was the food uh on the Buddha side of the uh danu River in the city of Budapest and just a couple of weeks before we got there over quarter a million people had shown up in the uh Town Square demanding that the Soviet Union basically let Hungary go and we were there the week that the that the that the wall fell in East Germany in fact and the the final speaker in that event was Victor orbon he was 26 years old at the time and he demanded that the Soviet Union let go of Hungary and they did uh gorbachov uh the following year allowed Hungary to have its first election since 1945 and for 20 years Hungary was a functioning democracy but today it's a corrupt Neo fascist oligarchy and although it's getting more and more hard fascist every day Victor Orban started out as just an average middle class guy who is a politician he's now worth billions this is uh what autocrats do Trump of course funnel hundreds of millions of dollars into his own pockets as a result of his being in the white house he made a lot of money on being president um orbon took over the fedz party this was a party that was once very much like the Republican party it was a conventional conservative political party um his slogans were restore Christian Purity and make Hungary great again now keep in mind this is before Trump he promised that he would build a wall this was in 2010 he promised he would build a wall on the southern border of Hungary to keep out brown skinned Syrian refugees who were fleeing Syria from the Russian bombing of Syria this was you know in the tail end of the of the Arab Spring uh he said that uh the the Syrian brownskin Syrian refugees who were coming into Hungary through their southern border were quote rapists and murderers that they were quote poisoning the blood of Hungary any of this sound familiar again this was six years before Trump even ran for president he altered his nation's Constitution to build into it what we would call Jerry Mandarin and voter suppression so that now pretty much no matter who votes or how they vote his party always wins he packed the court particularly the Hungarian Supreme Court so that any legal challenge against him goes nowhere he passed a law requiring nationally conservative sex education in schools in other words that that children be taught that gay people are evil and perverted and that abstinence is the only form of birth control that's acceptable he criminalized uh the portrayal of queer people on television or even a discussion about queer people uh in public campaigns he's conflated homosexuality with pedoph filia the penalties for being openly gay are Draconian uh you know Republicans obviously are trying to do the same thing here uh he he uh issued new textbooks for for elementary and middle school and high school in in Hungary teaching that multiracialism and racial tolerance are bad things he he he he said quote it can be problematic for different cultures to coexist um you know he locked Syrian children and cages Refugee children when the Helsinki committee said hungary's quote indefinite Detention of many vulnerable migrants including families with small children is cruel and inhumane end quote uh orbon said that the Syrian refugees quote POS a security risk and endanger the continent's Christian culture and identity and he added immigrants bring Crime especially crimes against women and let in the virus of terrorism any of this sound familiar five years and one week before Trump was applauding the the the racists in Virginia who were saying Jews will not replace us U 700 right-wing Hungarian so-called Patriots held a torch lit parade Torch Light Parade in Budapest went to the homes of the Roma people they used to call them Gypsies and said we will set their your homes on fire I mean it just goes on and on I I you know I could continue for another 15 minutes but bottom line Victor Orban in Hungary has done what Donald Trump wants to do in America and if you and and Fox News and the right-wing media they're just they just love this guy they're all over it so keep an eye on this keep an eye on Victor Orban keep an eye on Hungary because this is the model now not just for Trump but for the entire Republican party at the moment and it's a very very troubling thing
