here he is fresh off the red eyee from Victoria Matt dunigan CFL on TSN analyst Canadian Football Hall of Famer first of all must have been a great event touchdown Pacific you guys must had a great time on the island yeah uh thanks to Amar dolman uh thanks to uh Paul Graham thanks to so many people the mayor Victoria uh maryan Alto um yeah just I'm telling you there are so many people that put that thing together and it came off flawlessly well there's a few issues but we don't have to go into those but it was a tremendous success and uh showcasing our product to a lot of people that you know love our game and and haven't had a chance to see our game I love it I love it and then you know you get the the Labor Day classic and Regina it's always good what a finish great example you never leave a CFL game early never know what's going to happen yeah right you just don't do it you don't leave a CFL I saw people leave and I'm like you guys know better than this Regina you pay good money to see it stay there and see what happens cuz this is and they almost pulled it off Harris almost pulled it off yeah yeah they did and um you know and what he threw the ball 49 times tonight uh you know I'm yelling at the screen you can't let that guy do that you can't let him do that you know you got to rush you can't rush three or four and he will pick you apart but in this play what do they do they bring the house and go cover zero and then on the short yardage situation they get the ball into one they're off sides but they put it in they count it and all they need is this to uh go uh to to tie it up and no Tony Jones says not today he kind of popped out underneath the quick slant and Trevor can't believe it but hey was thinking let's go to the house you game's over no no no there's a lot more to football be played and uh the and it would just got crazier from there it's uh it's been a tough stretch here for the Riders but I do want to ask you about the the Zach karos hit and um man you know tough one miles Brown hits him hard and we know about his concussion issues for Karo um we're going to get to Chris trer in just a second but what did you see on that hit did did you feel it was clean did you feel it was dirty I know you're a quarterback so maybe you're a little biased thought situation it was clean 25 years ago right right but not clean in today's game by no means you know let up you know and don't leave with your shoulder and your helmet to his helmet that's that's silly he's going to be a little light in the pocket you know come this week and uh and then you see our one of our star quarterbacks you know a guy that has had that has been everything to the wiip peg Blue Bombers and and uh in a very in a very tough contest go down I mean that's just ridiculous you don't do that and we've seen it too often in Saskatchewan um and and uh it's it's a theme you know I I love hard play physical play I I I love the contact and at the end of the day that was just silly call and uh and let's just hope that Zach is fine I think it was precautionary more than anything we see Chris trer in the second half and uh and from that point on and uh we were like hey kudos to Troy white our producer right because you know we didn't see anything you know we didn't think Zach was we thought he was fine no we should cover this and we did and uh sure enough he didn't come out in the second half I was like Wow and let's talk about Chris trer um you know and and you and Davis Sanchez had a very entertaining back and forth I thought I thought so I'm glad we could provide some entertainment I thought it was interesting because you know Davis's point was Chris didn't throw a pass over five yards in the second half he um and that's a legitimate point but at the same time if you're Buck Pierce are in some ways trying to just get allow your quarterback to be the best best player he can possibly be and win this game and that's at the end of the day what he did and I and I think that's not the whole story um and we didn't have time on our hit to talk and flush it out so you know if I got a few minutes I would like to flush it out um so one as a back of you're not getting reps during the week right and so so you not have the you don't have the whole Playbook at your fingertips and and so that will handcuff we know that Chris trer is not the purest of passers in the Canadian football league right we know that uh he can run the ball with the best of them and he's great out of the gun and in ISO read and and doing this kind of stuff and so what I think in my point was on that hit with with chesy was hey um what Buck Pierce did was fabulous and keeping things close and playing to his strengths and not allowing him to be In Harm's Way without the Reps throughout the course of the week and his ability to push the football down the field against a team he hadn't seen and and to me uh Buck did a nice job of reeling in keeping things tight and letting the team win the football game letting your defense do their thing letting Castillo do his thing you know letting lucky Whitehead do his thing and give the team late field position that is what I'm talking about and that's comes in at play when you're calling plays as an OC that's what you're thinking about plus the kids ability putting them in the best chance and not putting him In Harm's Way and okay so given the chance that he might be going next week at the banjo Bowl let's hope not you're definitely hoping not but but if he were to go and you do have that week of practice and you're getting those first team reps how do you feel about strer in that position I don't think he's your franchise quarterback moving forward I think he is where he is with his football team I think that was proven when they went and got Zack klaris before he's gone on his run yeah and um and and and I think that's where we're at with him I I think the jury's already out and and um and I think that's why he's in the position he's in uh now throughout the course of uh our our telecast we were talking about the quarterback situations a lot of talk about quarterbacks in this league you look at Ottawa they got moli and they got Drew Brown y you look at what's going on in Toronto they they have Chad Kelly back and they got cam dukes and they got uh Nick Arbuckle in the backup position they got Alexander in uh that got valuable laps and looked like he's a starter in this league for future many years to come and they got Cody Fardo right you go out west and you've got and you got McLoud bethl Thompson and you got Trey Ford look to go out even further west to the BC Lions and what they're into right now we have a a wealth of good quarterbacks right they got they got roor and VA who is a leading runner for mop you I don't think you can say that with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and and Zack ceros and Chris treler right no right no it that changes things for that team in the dynamic I think with the other teams you can still play football and it'll have your open playbook at your hands okay let's talk about Monday the the double header you're heading to the Hammer you're going to Hamilton that'd be like in like seven hours yeah it's happening real quick uh Argo four and a half Point favored against the tabies Toronto could move into a tie with Ottawa for second in within rather within a point of odwa for second of the East if they pull off a victory what are you thinking about that one well uh Bo gets a second chance right you know and and maybe a third however you want to see that that's going to be exciting watching a veteran like that go up against Chad Kelly he's got a lot of weapons he can sling it all over the yard see who gets aggressive make play yeah these two teams I tell you hits are harder they're crisper they're cleaner it's more physical for some reason those Labor Day games is dialed up and if you're if you're not going get tickets and go because this going to be great and then of course of course uh the Battle of Alberta uh stamps have lost three of four yeah very intriguing matchup for sure well it always is you know I've played in that one for five years you know and uh i' I've done the wa Winnipeg Sask one I've done the Hamilton Toronto one I've seen it from from most of the traditional ends of the Labor Day games that one to me is always the most intense and and I think Mr probably because I cut my teeth for my first five years doing it and I learned all about it and what the Rivalry was all about really didn't understand it until you go through it until you see it as a fan experience it as a player you really can't uh describe what happens if things are dialed up a notch and it gets ugly in a hurry
