Adam Schefter [BREAKING NEWS] Packers QB Jordan Love reportedly suffers MCL strain, out 3-6 weeks

we've got breaking news here on CBS Sports HQ from the NFL Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan love suffering a sprained MCL in last night's loss to the Eagles that is per multiple reports on Saturday afternoon so that means Love's going to be sidelined for several weeks but is not expected to miss the rest of the seasons now in the rest of the season in his absence Malik Willis is expected to fill in under center for Green Bay Willis was acquired in a trade with the Titans last month with a seventh round pick heading to Tennessee all right let's come in studio here Jeremy St Louis alongside Beanie Wells and Danny canel DK first of all I'll get i'll get your reaction to this first this is obviously a huge blow to the Packers considering that they just paid Jordan love and lot of Hope for this season brutal I mean he showcased last year last 10 games getting the playoff getting a playoff win in Dallas that he was worthy of this contract and was the quarterback of the future uh devastating is probably the only word I would describe it for the Packers this is a team a lot of people myself included thought could win the division with him at the helm and the thing that I think is most concerning is the drop off from Jordan love to whether it's Malik Willis whether it's Sean Clifford whether it's Michael Pratt the quarterbacks that are familiar with their system are a significant drop off so this is going to put a huge onus on Josh Jacobs the running back that they signed who we were previewing this season for Josh Jacobs and I'm like man he's going to be getting such better box counts because when he was with the Raiders the quarterback play was awful they're loading up he's going to see a lot of those against so I feel for him too certainly a huge blow you know when you look at the fact that they were building their franchise around this guy and you know they brought in pieces to the puzzle that they thought fit him and now that he's going to be out for a significant amount of time it's going to be certainly hard for the Green Bay Packers of Matt laflor to manufacture uh the great passing that we saw from Jordan love I don't know what they do do you go out and you tra you try to trade for a guy like jamus Winston or one of those guys but I don't think there's anybody out there on a waiver rre right now that you can bring in and expect to replace him in his production the other thing too about Malik will is he was just brought in August 2 that's what like 10 days ago I don't know what dat that is a really short time to get a full grasp of a Playbook now sure some systems are similar you can grasp certain Concepts but that would that's concerns me as well from Malik Willis which is why I brought some of those other names Michael Pratt was in Camp Clifford was there last year he was on the practice squad so maybe they elevate him but I like your idea to go get jamus Winston I think it is you need a veteran presence to kind of give you a chance at this point you just want to go 500 without Jordan love like I think that's the reasonable expectation and then hopefully it keeps you Al float in the playoff race taking a look at their schedule I mean they had Philadelphia next week they get Indianapolis then they go to Tennessee have Minnesota then at the Rams before they get two home games between Arizona and Houston so really I mean when you look at that schedule it's not that difficult it's not certainly it's not out of the question that they could be above 500 if you look at that if he's out four to five six weeks right it's certainly not out of the question uh but that isn't like a huge gaunlet that they have to go through but the question that I think that everybody has to ask thems is Malik Willis enough and because he's been here such a short period of time and he he doesn't really know the offense and you know from the offensive standpoint and how they run it with Jordan love they're completely different styles of quarterbacks so I just don't know that you can do it with him being the guy out the gate the only other thing too is that only one divisional opponent for like the next six game stretch against the Vikings so that's an edge you you don't get most of your divisional games till later in the season but I didn't see that schedule that is very manageable so I think 500 like is absolutely abolutely like you have to go above 500 if you're Josh Jacobs right now I got to ask the running back I mean if you're Josh Jacobs right now what are you thinking in terms of moving forward with this team now you know obviously as a running back you understand that you know your load is going to be a lot heavier and and I think he has to be willing to take on that task I certainly think you will uh but when you signed to Green Bay Packers to the Green Bay Packers you're anticipating having Jordan love there so you're anticipating having those throw those running lanes because of the way he throws the football now it's going to be a little bit different now this is going to be on you and the offensive line a whole lot more and that offensive line it didn't look great last night granted it is the Philadelphia Eagles who are not the worst team in football but certainly there were some looked to be some challenges there and we could talk about the turf and all that stuff but for now uh Jordan love set to miss uh a number of weeks here with the Green Bay Packers MCL injury for him uh so Green Bay as mentioned moving forward Indianapolis coming up next week Malik Willis set to be the starter under Center at this point in time our coverage of the NFL kicks off on Sunday we've got six good games for you four of them in that 1 pm window including the all Florida battle between the Jaguars and the Dolphins and then in the lay window we get Jim Harbaugh's debut with the Los Angeles Chargers as they over $100 million of economic impact for the city of Boulder but where are the winds on the field are Brandon Marcelo dug deep into the Dion Sanders impact and how to make it [Music] last Brandon Marcelo joins us now to talk about that piece and and you wrote a lot about this sustainability so why is this game today against Nebraska so important to sustaining coach Prime's Legacy at Colorado you know I compared a lot to last season season opener at TCU we kind of got what the surprise out of Colorado then they fell in their face in the latter half of the season but if you look at the schedule and the way this team has been built early in the year if they can get a win at Nebraska a team that believes they could be six- one or seven and0 going into their game against Ohio State later this season that not only puts Colorado on the path to Bo eligibility but maybe some bigger things maybe a top 25 ranking at some point later this season you know Deion Sanders has made it pretty clear within the team even outside the team that their goal this year is to reach a bowl game they're not really talking up anything about winning a championship or anything like that they're not saying that they want to get to a bowl game and with this schedule it could be difficult but if you go on the road at night against a Nebraska team that is going to be on fire the biggest game there at home in 10 years that sets the course for some really good things there this year at Colorado you dug really deep into the prime effect as we call it so what did you learn as far as why there is so much added pressure for this marriage to work yeah I mean listen there it want to call it a fat in some places right but if you're a coach and you're winning that can continue to roll and a lot like what Nick Savin did at Alabama with enrollment numbers going up the campus literally expanding double in his tenure there the prime effect in just one year has led to a lot of growth there not just with businesses economic impact 1132 million from home games last year media Revenue jumped 51% last year applicants jump 20% and more importantly you could tell the cultural phenomenon here is in Black applicants at the Colorado University jumping 50.5% the prime effect is real of course they don't want that to dwindle and naturally it probably will but if they start winning things will really start going up even further and you know in the very first game was the very first time they have not had a sellout in their coach Prime so a lot of people are going is it's already starting to fade away business owners there even tell you we got to start winning some games to keep this going I love it really interesting piece you should go check it out at cbssports.com Brandon thank you Jordan guys how long do you think this thing lasts oh let's find out as I turn things to Beanie Wells I'm coming coming to you first on this one it's no question that this Dion effect is real it is very much legit as we heard our own Brandon Marcelo highlight there for us what is your take though beanie on how long it'll actually last how many you guys are boxing fans I don't know if you remember Floy Mayweather Floyd Mayweather Ricky Hatton you know everybody expected Floyd to go out and dominate but they build this as the greatest fight ever right Deion Sanders is the master promo promoter like Floyd Mayweather was I mean he's a polarizing figure that transcends generations and people this day and age want to be a part of what's cool and what's cool is what Deion Sanders is doing he makes the splashes in recruiting he has the hottest celebrities at his games and now the only thing that he needs to do is just win a couple of more games and it has a staying power I think it's absolutely here to stay because of who he is and what he means to not just football but the culture in general and I think the culture follows a guy like Dion because of who he is and what he's meant and what he's done for so many generations how many times did Floyd Mayweather loose right exactly you know [Music] hello for I'm is you love foreign speee
