one former NFL athlete is using his voice to bring a stop to disturbing images of children from being shared online it's amazing work here the Tim TBO Foundation recently launched the renewed hope Act of 2024 and it's picking up steam in Congress the effort aims to save thousands of young victims and stop exploitation and its tracks and joining us now is the man himself Tim TBO good to see you man thanks for being here thank you so much for having me thank you for giving me the chance to talk about something that's uh so important U because there's so many lives that are on the line so how did it come about when did this become your mission and why well we've been fighting against human trafficking for over a decade but this fight against exploitation for us really um escalated just under four years ago when one of my team members that we brought on the team cille Cooper who's been in this space fighting for over 25 years and I said Camille what breaks your heart the most and she wrote down the number 20,000 I said what is that represent she said that represents the the the boys and girls that law enforcement officers can see and abuse and rape videos but they have yet to identify them 20,000 and so we convene a meaning of uh so many of the most important players in this space in leyon France and we talked about it and we found out it's not 20,000 it's over 50,000 boys and girls 50,000 kids that's a heartbreak well that's in one database and it's actually more than that because we know that's the the boys and girls that they can see but we also know that there are so many more that have they have yet to see one from operation renewed hope that will as an operation um around a year ago um where 316 boys and girls were identified one of the um the sweet girls that was um rescued when they went in and found the offender and they looked at his material through that they found eight other kids that were being abused so we know that through getting to one we can get to so many more and that's how important it is why is it taking so long to identify and find these children because um the people with the goal to do evil number number one unfortunately work together many times better than those with the goal to do good the way that they coach the way that they support one another the way they talk the way they understand rules the way um we had the chance to read to a few members of the media a few days ago a chat where they were literally talking encouraging one another I can teach you how to abuse your daughter and get away with it and I can show you how to use this and and guess and this is so they're working together to be able to get away with it and that's why law enforcement and Congress and and all of us an army of people that want to do good to protect the Next Generation also have to work to together to do good because unfortunately what happens sometimes is why we don't is people care too much about the credit instead of the mission but what if credit didn't matter what if it was only about the mission it was only about the next generation of boys and girls what if that was it what if it wasn't about who gets the praise for it but actually what do what happens in the mission and can't it get done for all of these boys and girls that's why we need to work together we have to do it better than those with a goal to do evil you make a good point you talked about it earlier but why is it important to have support from both sides of the aisle well be so we can get bills like this past so we can get the Manpower the Army and the equipping of that Army is right now at C3 the cyber crime Center which I love and we we've been able to work with these men and women but there are seven victim identification Specialists seven and their goal is to go through the worst material almost possible and look at it to be able to identify these boys and girls you're putting this on seven individuals no we need an army of people that are trained and equipped to be able to go do it and that's a big part of what this bill does is it gives HSI the ability to hire more victim identification Specialists analysts and investigators to be to be able to go after and protect and rescue these boys and girls what can parents do well I think first and foremost parents should understand that they need to have relationships with their boys and girls they need to talk to at the dinner table then they need to understand every time they get on the internet it is as dangerous if not more dangerous than back in the day when a boy or girl would walk into a mall and they would you would never say hey go walk into a mall by yourself and go talk to strangers you would never say that but every time we go uh on the internet we need to understand that there are perpetrators and offenders that are looking for our boys and girls and they work together on How to lure and groom them to bring them over they find a weakness they find a vulnerability they find someone that's upset and they lure them into it so understand what they're um looking at online and there's a bunch of different things that can help game safe helps some keep your kids safe there's a bunch of different apps that can help keep your kids safe that's a piece of this but you need to understand and they need to understand hey not everybody out there actually intends to do good for you and I hate to say that cuz we don't want kids to feel negative but we do want them to be protected what a we to use your platform protecting our kids
