wow this kid's application is off the charts he's a valid dictorian of his class he wrote a fantastic essay and his letters of recommendation made me want to cry the only problem is that he didn't send in an SAT or an ACT score now that we're back to test required does that mean I have to reject him on the spot well it depends did he send in any AP or IB scores yeah he sent in his AP scores and he actually got fives on six separate exams that sounds awesome in that case he's good to go hold on I thought getting rid of test optional admissions meant that we were going to be really rigid about which exams we accepted you're telling me now that AP and IB scores are going to be counted the same as SATs and acts look we need some kind of standardized test score to prove that these kids can handle the academics at an IB League school but the truth is a lot of people will do a lot better on AP or IB exams compared to the SAT or the act so if you're applying to a lot of these colleges and you feel like an AP score is a much better representation of your academic ability than your sat or ACT score a lot of the time you can just send in your AP
