away from first pitch and towing the slab Anthony Bund but Chris he hasn't exactly been Stellar here on his home now well I'll say this every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark in front of their fans in front of the city and you know this guy no different he wants to be more effective here so we look at the numbers they haven't been great at home I'm sure he wants to turn that around and we'll see if he's able to start that in this one jge Solair up at the pl and he can't come up with [Applause] it and he's going to make it to First and we'll see how they score it here's Lamont Wade Jr one oh in the dirt but kept close and no movement on the bases it's ball one the one fought off foul Solair on at first nobody out lifted in the air now the left side and it stays Fair throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out two consecutive base hits for these guys here just a blue pit behind third right there and that's a really tough fight for a third baseman or short stop to get to the same for the left field he just found a perfect in the dirt throws down to second but he scrambles back to the back first and second no outs and we're just getting started here in the top of the first next offering misses down and Away could be some action here on this next pitch couple Runners on probably a challenge pitch coming that one catches the zone two balls two strikes [Applause] High Chopper to Third and he picks it up and he'll put it in his pocket still two and two after the foul ball he hasn't gotten the result yet but he's got to feel pretty confident three foul balls in a row he's right on this pitcher the two two on the wayon misses it's a strike out gets talked about a lot but a good high fastball in a two strike situation it's just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years with all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate having a good grip on the baseball those High fast balls they kind of look like to The Hitter that they're Rising even though they're not but they're not decreasing in velocity and spin rate so very difficult to get the barrel on it now wanted one well all eyes on the double play ball in this spot no better way to get out of this inning and a count one and two one out Runners at first and second soft contact in the air and it falls throwback in holds the runner at third base is now loaded only one away one down now and here is Michael conforto I don't think that pitch would have been called a strike but he did such a nice job of pulling his hands tight to the body and just getting enough of the barrel on it to be hard enough middle for a knock pretty good pitch there to take a rip at he wants to get his arms extended he likes the ball away from him a little bit he not able to square it up and here it comes fights that one away still one and two and down on strikes he goes huge strike out there Matt Chapman up to the plate now he's been a great free agent [Applause] Mendoza Line so far this and a r in the center field base hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single everything came together for him challenging with the fast ball right in the heart of the zone and he was clearly ready to jump all over it and now Andy p and that one almost got him fly ball down the [Applause] line and there's two away they off to a great start he's really cruising out there on the mound and he's got a chance to get through these first two innings with under 20 pitches that could him up to go deep into this game that one down the line and it goes just foul Roos the runner at first with two gone swings and misses at the pitch off the plate the count swinging a miss that one in the dirt that completes the strikeout and that'll do it we're back to start the third and there's a new arm of the mound BR Honeywell Jr gets an opportunity to square off against his former team so I wouldn't be surprised if he came out a little extra jacked up right here and that one sliced foul Honeywell in his second season 29 years old a former first round pick back in 2014 that's to Third and that one finds its way through so a man on base to start the inning couple of hits in a row for him here turned on it nicely definitely a little out in front of the pitch but he didn't hook around it too much and was able to keep it fair down the line popped up roas makes the catch and there's one down that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath the bit and popped it up that one fouled off and the rander deals out lineup flips over here's sh Otani and a sang and a line drive at a right field diving gets down could be extra bases around second now as they still don't have it and he's into third with a two out triple everything came together perfectly for him right there came screaming off the bat I'm sure exit velocity is off the charts no doubt he squared that baseball up perfectly so there was no fluke to that triple by any means ran scoring position now and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game Otani at third with two [Music] away one and one oh right to the back stop nothing doing count moves to one and one and that's off the Inside Edge two and one in the air out towards left Center con forto snags it on the run out of the fourth now the Giants for hitter Patrick back singles for him timing on the swing was good able to shoot the ball up the middle didn't Square it up as much as he probably would have liked but that's a good approach paying off the batter will bad and the thing to notice are the pitch locations every single one of them on the edges of the strike zone and as a hitter that can be pretty frustrating because you don't expect the pitcher to be able to make quality pitches one after another like that and so those are tough spots to do damage in a great demonstration of pitch command and it got him a punch out that time now it's going to be out of the foul tip nothing to do it for the Dodgers here still no score so the Dodgers have a new arm on the mound Johan Ramiro and we know about his slider it's just filthy man one of the better ones in the game bin rate's very high and it just breaks a ton now the number two hitter Lamont Wade Jr and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter Ramirez a 64 righty he features a sinker a slider and he works in a for seamer new pitcher for the Dodgers Joe Kelly power slider guy BR he throws it hard and gets a lot of late mov so it's tough to pick [Applause] [Music] [Applause] up right through there for a stri got him looking and he did not like the call well I think that was just a case of a hitter quitting on a pitch he was looking fast ball and didn't see it out of the hand and just left the bat on his shoulder that was a change up right over the plate probably not the location he was looking for but the change of speeds is what fooled him and he got the out and the one and a swing in a Miss there he can live up in the zone all game if hitters will chase it that's just too much velocity hitters got to look down in the zone check swing he went too far and it's a stri one down base is empty goes down looking so up next Patrick Bailey there's a strike good heater at 98 hey seven straight strikes to start the frame he's got a chance an Immaculate inning missed with a change up and the count even one and one got close to the immaculate inning and he just couldn't find the zone right there when you think about it nine straight strikes so tough to do two down nobody on and we're the top half of the six and another [Music] ball two outs tries to check his swing now look to Third and he won around not an easy call there but that puts an end to the inning back here at Dodger Stadium bottom of the six inning and at the plate for the Dodgers Gavin Lu and the first pitch misses [Applause] ball [Applause] one and the righty deals now a blooper back behind short calls it in and there's one away that swing right there tells me he's seeing the ball pretty well I know it didn't produce a hit but he made Solid contact and that's all you're looking to do anytime you're at the plate and that one is lifted in the air and that will fall so a man a board now with one away the batter now will be Will Smith one for two swing and a miss and he was fooled if it were an average catcher behind the plate I'd say take second base but this isn't a catcher you want to run on his quick release is unreal with the goahead run at first here in the bottom of the six with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here swing and a ball popped up he's under it pulls it down and he makes the catch and there's two down Freddy Freeman up to the F out there to Center Ramos settles under it and makes the play and that's out number three back here in La top of inning number seven and digging in for San Francisco Michael conforto that one not close ball one [Music] the pitch ball [Applause] two and a foul ball makes the count two and one kicks and fires and now it's even upow in the air left field set settles underneath it puts it away for the out and there's one down now it's Matt Chapman who 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts that one finds the Zone going one Bas is empty one away here in the top half of inning number [Applause] seven swings through that one it's take a look at the three pip sequence here pretty simple in terms of putting them away at the plate once you're head 02 as a pitcher you can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect in battle and right there clearly he was in swing mode but all you can do is hope to foul that off this Ball's chopped on the ground High throw to first and he can't reach it and this ball is going to wind up out of play and in scoring position with two away at the play Tyler Fitzgerald swings through that good late sink on that fast out of the hand looks so good and then by the time gets in the hting zone hard to get the middle to it breaking ball through there for a [Music] strike and it's second swing and a there struck him out gas it right by him he's in tough spot had to make a great pitch did it got the strike out gets out of the jam clearly he's happy and welcome back to the ballpark bottom of the seventh now it's the Dodger cleanup hitter teoscar Hernandez he swings and misses at the first pitch old you can tell by their swings this lineup is having trouble gauging speeds timing is everything in hitting and right now they just don't have it slings the first and one away in the bottom of the seven Miguel Roos the next to hit wisely settles under it and makes the catch two away and up next for Los Angeles Andy pz swung on and fouled off and he'll need a new back this pitcher has done a good job of disrupting the hitters timing with the mix of pitches and changing speeds you want to keep that front foot inconsistent for the batter their swings are head Chapman over to First in time and the back here at Chavez Ravine all set for the start of the inning now it's the second baseman Brett wisley that catches the zone for a strike it's own and one [Applause] and that one is in for a strike quickly into an 02 count both pitches were down in the zone I think you set your sights a little bit higher because you'll have a tendency to chase if you look down in that area swinging for the strike out pulled the string of the change up back to the leadoff spot so the Dodgers have a new arm on the mound Daniel Hudson he Cly been one of their better relief pitchers this season the numbers are really solid so they feel great about handing the ball over to this ball game SW G belted that one back tattooed and gone def flexes his power with that swing his fourth home run of the season it's two nothing listen to these fans this place is absolutely buzzing right now you can feel the energy all the way up here in our broadcast booth it's so tough to come in as a pitch hitter and have success I mean you really have to keep yourself locked into the game and ready at any time so to me when someone jumps in there and hits it out it's a huge lift for your ball Club as well sh Otani up to the dish and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you've done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control Smith in the boxs with two gone and takes a look at a called strike foul ball there two down nobody on and a foul ball he stays alive [Applause] [Music] two outs that one drilled left field and they get the out on Smith and that's the inning two-run shot for the Dodgers this inning Last Chance coming up for the Giants staying in the game on defense he entered the game to pinch hit and now man second base Lake tring taking over on the mound and he's been really shutting down Hitters from the right side of the plate this year not a lot of hard contact not a lot of hits [Applause] period next offering is in for a strike he didn't like those first two pitches now an 02 hole he's going to have to battle that's a mistake runs it up to 96 to record the punch out well he's going to have some thinking to do when he leaves the ballark after this one that was his third strike out and this one looking obviously so he's been a little overmatched he's got to find a way just to be more competitive up there at the plate well that started and ended pretty quickly no messing around right there first pitch fast ball in a great spot to do some damage and he spit up nicely one gone runner at first and here is Michael conforto Ball one low and fouled off with the tying run at the plate here the top of the night [Applause] the tying run at the plate swings and misses struck him out good late cut for the strike out there a thing really got in on him and you know the cutter isn't really a huge swinging Miss pitch most of the time because it's not really meant to move a whole lot you're just trying to miss the big part of the barrel and maybe get some weak contact but that one right there did a whole lot more than that that was a really good pit Now Matt Chapman at the plate and that's in for a strike try in 35y years old and he's one of the few players in Major League Baseball born in [Applause] Kansas trying it is just one strike away round ball and this should do it throw to first ball game and the Dodgers claim the win here behind some great pitching in defense when you win five in a row the confidence just goes to another Lev level and you start to gain this momentum and you think that you're never going to lose a game again because things are clicking up and down the lineup pitchers are pitching the team is making the plays defensively this is the kind of feeling it's not going to last all season long but you want to ride it as long as you possibly can perhaps push it up to double digits two nothing your final here in this one Dave Robertson could he celebrate
