Malco Movie Minute - "1992," "Reagan," & more

welcome back you are just in time for a trip to the movies because every Friday we're partnering with Malco to bring you the Malco movie minute where we show you what is new at the cinema now this week is 1992 yeah the it stars Tyrese Gibson alongside Scott Eastwood and the late Ray Leota and that was actually one of his last films before he passed away in 2022 we actually talked about this earlier this week um it's executive executively produced by Snoop dogs death row picture and it set during the 1992 Los Angeles riots and Gibson stars as a young father determined to rebuild his life and relationship with his son but the two end up colliding with another Father's son team in the middle of a risky Heist now it is rated R but I I can't wait to see this I'm excited about it because you know obviously I mean I I liveed through I remember U these riots happening in LA but to use that also as a backdrop for uh a risky Heist adding in another element of like um edge of your seat kind of Thriller uh seems like exciting and also um Snoop Dog can do no wrong right now I anything Snoop does I am all for my mom and I both I just I think he's great I think he captured the hearts of America at the Paris games and he just the hits keep coming you know now he's producing this film and uh there's more to come truly one of my favorites yes also new this weekend is the biopic Reagan Dennis Quaid stars as the 40th President of the United States dates throughout the film which follows Reagan's life from his early years as an actor to his presidency the film follows Reagan's life uh of course until he becomes the United States president and it's told through a conversation interestingly between two former KGB agents yeah so this is going to be an interesting perspective on this one alongside Quaid the film also Stars Penelope and Miller Robert Davy Leslie and down and John Voit in supporting roles this one is at Cinemas right now it's rated PG-13 I need to get in and see that it's got a it's got a big cast and I feel like the framework of setting it being told through some KGB agents so interesting right this is off topic it's so weird because sometimes I have really weird dreams and sometimes Dennis Quaid will randomly pop in my dreams Dennis Quaid's the one he's the one that pops up in your and he like drives a party bus in my dreams anyway but I'm excited to see him in this role have you ever seen that movie in space where he drives an airplane into into the bloodstream of people's bodies that's what he that must have been what happened to you I'm just saying living rentree up here it could have been a thing oh my gosh well another option releasing this weekend is the science fiction horror film afraid it stars Jon Cho Katherine Waton Havana Rose Lee and Lita Maxwell it plot follows a mixed family whose smart home AI increasingly interjects itself into their lives so the family are chosen to test a new smart home AI the digital assistant learns the family's behaviors and routines however it does develop self-awareness which leads to her becoming a little too involved and interfering with their lives this movie is rated PG-13 it sounds scow it does sound a bit scary SC a little bit I mean we all have those things in our homes I know and AI is becoming such a thing it's Hot Topic right now people are talking about it I feel like this movie is trying to get on the you know the cusp of that and kind of explore that what if it takes it too far what if it takes it too far yeah absolutely but interesting definitely have to see that for sure
