happening right now in Broward County parents are on edge after a threat to multiple schools in the district on social media Broward schools notified parents Saturday through email about these threats CBS News Miami's Naya Carrero talked to parents ahead of tomorrow's classes about their concerns it makes me feel very scared Olga Torres has grandchildren who attend Brower County Public Schools and the idea of someone threatening them gives her chills it would hurt me very much for you know somebody to tell me hey your kid they can't find him it's horrible I love my grandkids I think it it would really destroy my life Broward County Public School District sent an email to parents Saturday afternoon about social media threats it read the district is aware of a social media post threatening several of our schools and is working closely with local law enforcement to determine the credibility of the threat and taking steps to identify those responsible the district reminds parents that making a threat will not only get students expelled but they could also face felony charges concerns over school shootings have completely changed than what schooling looks like for Stephanie McLean and her family my daughter I pulled her out in the in the beginning of 10th grade she does Florida Virtual School so it's it's something that was very concerning to me and it was concerning to her as well that she had so much anxiety about it that we needed to do something different community members say this should not be what kids have to do deal with well I think there's a lot more that needs to be done honestly I mean it's it's great that you know that they're paying attention to it but it would be great to start figuring out some legislation things that will actually make changes the guns have to be taken away they have to be controlled they can't give be given to young kids especially you know ones that you know aren't just for hunting they're just you know it's like military type guns that these kids are getting that was Naya Carrero reporting the Broward County Sheriff's Office says these threats were made to different schools in different parts of the county the department also said multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in this investigation of course we'll keep you posted
