we have the greatest number 11 quarterback in Georgia history with us today Jake fromo is Aaron Murray and then the second one is myself uh welcome welcome everyone appreciate everyone hanging out here today uh Jake from Aaron Murray joining you guys for the next 10 to 15 minutes chatting up about what life was like as a University of Georgia quarterback uh answer some of y'all's questions too so if you do have questions please com on up we'll be answering questions here as well so don't be shy uh Jake will not bite um and yeah let's have a good time that's my daughter mil got the babies here today Jake will be a new father in about two weeks so big let's give a big round of applause Jake going to be a dad here soon what scarier going against an SEC defense are the thoughts of changing a diaper yeah definitely the thoughts of changing a diaper no doubt about it faced a lot of scary human being beings in my day uh but nothing is more petrifying than opening up that diaper for the first time well I have a 15 15-month-old if you do want to practice I think she she may have a dirty diaper for you so we're ready to go um speaking of of players and defenses what is the biggest difference for you you you've been in the NFL you just with Washington like what what is the difference between college defenses and NFL defenses um I I I would say the scheme is so much more in depth uh there's so many more different answers so many more different checks and adjustments off of what you're doing as an offense uh and then more specifically for like individual players everybody's just fast yeah like when you got defensive tackles defensive ends who are running you know four sixes four FS four fours uh it doesn't matter what position you play now on defense man you're you're fast and you can cover from sideline to sideliner I I remember I was with the ram for a little bit during OTAs and I had a bootleg to the left and I completed it and I felt pretty awesome about it and I went back and watched the film and Aaron Donald was he got he got tricked out by the fake so he went all the way about five to seven yards away from me and watching the film he turned on a dime and if if he would have been able to hit me he would have declet me he ran by me as I was throwing and had no idea would have been completely dead like those guys at 300 lb running four five 4 sixes some of the scariest things you've ever seen how was last year talk about Washington like what what was life like there for you yeah um for me I mean life was good life was fun man it was probably one of the most enjoyable football seasons I've ever had now we didn't we didn't win very much uh we started off 2-0 uh well we won three preseason games then started the season off 2-0 so we're like all right we're we're winning um and then towards the end of the season we go two and 15 after that like didn't hardly win any games um and that that was kind of rough uh that's that's never fun especially in the NFL when it's such a long season anyway you're not winning games but um really around some good people there's some great guys in the room uh Sam H jacobe brassette and our quarterback coach uh tavita Pritchard um really good dudes and it was just fun to uh really get spend the season with those guys and uh um anytime you're surrounded by good people it makes it more enjoyable you get to be around Eb too yeah bam was one of my uh was my receiver coach uh in Kansas City for three years so yeah love being around EB yeah or running back coach excuse me running back coach running back coach running back coach uh he was the best all right we got to get into some Georgia topics I know everyone here wants to hear about Georgia and uh and what the dogs look like but I want to talk first about the fraternity of being a quarterback and I I I was not very good about the history of Georgia or quarterbacks at all before I got to ug a Florida guy uh but I learned real quick and I was accepted by like green and shock and Stafford and zy and you know so many guys Buck like it's it's an incredible fraternity what does it mean for you to say I'm a Georgia quarterback and what are those relationships you built with other quarterbacks yeah I mean it's it's huge it's a it's a responsibility that you kind of you wear and you own as well um I mean just growing up here in the state growing up watching Georgia football uh getting to watch you and Stafford and and and all the other guys Man play on Saturday um I just I grew up and always wanted to be like that um so it's a huge blessing to be able to come here and and get to play and have those opportunities and you know now in the fraternity to you know be able to to hit you up and and and do stuff like this with you now and and go play some golf and do some other things man it's a it's a it's a selective group that not many people get to join um and man that we're part of it uh it's huge and it means the world to me all right so I know everyone probably saw our current starting quarterback Carson backck driving a fresh new Lamborghini $300,000 I know Jake being a country boy would have definitely been driving himself a nice little Lamborghini if he was around during nil times but for real for real if you got if you getting paid like that in college and you got to pick your car what are you going with uh I'm still going with the jacked up F250 just my my dream truck all all all the way through um you know now with the money left over now now comes in the bass boat and then the duck hunting boat and all the other stuff so you know got to have a Can-Am got to have a good trailer so you know there's money to spend you know if I got that that 300 Grand budget so um that's just a little bit more my speed I'm still waiting we're here at Creature Comforts in downtown Athens I'm just waiting for the lambor Lamborghini to drive by any minute now and Carson uh you know know live in Liv in the absolute dream live in the dream there do do you wish you lived in this era of nil like just going back to our immat more immature selves would you have been responsible you're immature guy though you could have handled the the responsibilities of millions of dollars at 18 yeah I uh you know that's it's a loaded question because yes would I have made more money AB absolutely I feel I would have done pretty well for myself but then also at the same time I feel like like the love of you know the college the Love of the Game has kind of slipped away a little bit so it's it's more it's more about me uh more about like you know what they can do what the university can do you know and what have you done for me lately um and I just you know they they got a really good football team and I think you know Kirby's an even better coach now than he was when I was there and the opportunities to win there um but I I just I think the Love of the Game is just is being lost a little bit I I I think um being the locker room it would be different than it was when when we played yeah I mean the difference between NFL and college is everyone gets paid in the NFL not everyone's getting paid in college like you have the top guys getting paid everyone else maybe begin a little bit so there is a pretty big gap from the halves and half knots uh in college football don't forget come on up Don't Be Afraid raise your hand like we're back in elementary school if you do have a question for Jake or myself what we got that's all a little Hand rais Mouth full wrong time to raise your hand cuz I'm going to call you out who does like with better oh who does Drew Butler like podcasting with better jakeob myself I rumors he loves both of us yeah this FaceTime Drew uh he loves both of us we're both quarterbacks we're both 11 good nice uh you know somewhat beards on our face knowledable at the game he likes both of us that's it he likes both of us um I want to ask you about Kirby uh you brought up Kirby and his you've seen his growth what was it like playing for Kirby Smart was he was he as intense then as he is now is he scary was he were you were you scared to knock on kiry's or to go meet with him ah intense is an understatement for whatever he is um you know I just quick story that I you know I remember from my my freshman year um this is my first Spring football practice you know we're in helmets and it's at the end of practice and we go through two-minute drill and you know I just kind of get brushed on the shoulder by defensive end right and of course Kirby being a defensive guy he Blows the Whistle it says the offense is down anyway as soon as he Blows the Whistle he just lays into me and rips me a new one right the last thing you can do as a quarterback during two-minute drill can't take a sack I take a sack he rips me a new one and I'm like dude this is like my first day here and I I just I knew I never wanted to get that side of him again so I tried to avoid it the best I could we see Rick would never blow the whistle and the defensive guys would get so pissed you know all the oh I got Aaron I got Aaron so one day Cornelius Washington who's 66 250 runs a 44 and you don't touch the quarterback in practice but the defense was sick of Rick not blowing the whistle Kirby or um Cornelius blindsided me in practice oh wow like took me out big no no big no no big no no well anyways Ben Jones my loyal Center what what a dude what a dude Ben is Ben who is 320 PBS runs like a 52 was chasing Cornelius around all the fields like the practice ended everyone's just laughing cuz they're watching Ben and lucky I didn't get hurt but uh yeah you ain't supposed to touch the quarterback in practice that's for damn sure I get asked this question a lot I'm sure you do too everyone's like what was the feeling when Georgia finally won The Natty because you know you lost to Alabama got so close myself you as well lost National Championship to Alabama was it what was that like was there like for me like there was this relief like ah like I can stop being asked the question about 2012 like finally now it's like we finally beat Alabama we finally won a national championship what was that moment like for you when they did win in Indianapolis a few years ago yeah it's like a I don't know it kind of felt like a weight off my shoulders as well you know I'm sure it was pretty similar for you I just it was such a uh a weird time for me because uh I'm with the New York Giants and I'm in a hotel room by myself and so I'm like face you know FaceTiming all my buddies and you know kind of getting their their reactions and raw emotions out of it but um yeah man I I watched the dogs win a National Championship by myself in a hotel room in in New York so just hey you just never know where you're going to be at when when when life happens so I drove up the day of the game uh watched the a game long drive and I drove back the next day and obviously I had some fun that night and I'm driving back and I'm exhausted maybe slept 2 hours and I get like a call from like local ABC affiliate in Atlanta like hey can you jump on like a FaceTime and do an interview and I'm not going to lie like I was so exhausted like emotionally drained I'm doing this interview and I start crying on the interview and I called my wife I was like I don't even know why I was crying but like I feel like I did feel like this weight also was was like lifted off my shoulders where man we finally did it and it's like kind of killing two birds with one stone you beat BMA and you win a National Championship and I can stop talking as much about that 2012 game uh as I did um are you surprised cuz you were in Athens for three years you know the bones you know the facilities you know the recruiting are you surprised with how good this program has turned out to be you know you you uh that's actually a really great question because you just you know all the pieces are there you're just kind of waiting for the right person to to put all the pieces together and you know obviously Kirby's done a great job but you know there's there's more to it than just what he's done um there's so many different pieces and people who have who have helped and poured into it to make this thing what it is um there's no reason for it not to be what it is and I I mean I think I can speak for kind of everybody here but just man really glad that it's it's where it's at and and hopefully the machine can keep keep rolling and and keep the wheels turning on this thing all right La last one Jake's got to get to Atlanta he's got another event tonight he's a busy man um and then obviously come ask a couple of questions too before he takes off Carson I know you're you know you're busy with with the commanders this past year and I don't know how much you you've had a chance to kind of watch his game but how good is he in your opinion like like what are your initial thoughts from watching him last year yeah when you just look at a a prototypical NFL guy like he's a guy that checks all the boxes um he's tall he's you know he's got long arms got great arm strength so um I mean I I honestly I believe that the sky is the limit for him um and just watching his progression last year from the first game to the last game he just looks so much more comfortable uh playing the position uh looks like he's owning it um and it's going to be fun to watch uh and see where he starts kind of you know how good he's going to start this coming up year and then no telling how he's going to finish
