getting into the regular season soon these shows will become more and more frequent for you uh covering the AFC North the uh Browns and the NFL in particular so um of course the preseason getting kicked off on Saturday the Browns and the Packers uh things on the scoreboard maybe not going according to the way Browns fans wanted but I feel like a lot of good things happened on Saturday aside from the scoreboard and most people don't care about the scoreboard you know the players probably do there's a little bit of Pride there especially for the younger guys and the guys that want aren't going to make the team uh for the regular season but you know for the most part coaches um you want to see things like Player Development you want to evaluate guys uh maybe evaluate your new offense with Ken dorsy coming in as the offensive coordinator and and see how things are going to work progress that way you want to see how guys react to being in front of and against an actual you know different team rather than a training camp when you're just going against your own guys this was full bore football here for a lot of these guys and the things you're looking for are uh you know who's who's going to make the roster who's going to make the final 53 and I feel like in that regard huge success on Sunday in one or on Saturday in one specific position group and I'm talking of course you know what that podcast is about because you clicked on it the quarterback and um Tyler Huntley of course Sean Watson your starter um hopefully he's healthy knock on wood got a wooden desk uh let's hope he's healthy for the for the whole season and all of this is a moot point but jamus Winston the former Florida State seminal Tampa Bay Buccaneer New Orleans Saint has signed a oneye $4 million deal this offseason with the Browns to uh backup deshun Watson uh so that's a no-brainer serviceable backup he'll do fine if if something happens and he's called in action but your uh your third string quarterback I feel is is sort of an important position especially for the Browns considering what they just went through last season when they used no less than five quarterbacks on their playoff run and ended up being uh former Raven of course Joe flacko who had to come in and finish the season played very well um performed pretty well in the playoff loss uh but you know depth quarterback canot be overstated in the NFL and that was just a case in point right there and if you want to go back to the uh 49ers in the NFC Championship Game a few years ago um certainly it showed its it's it's the need there for a deep uh bench at quarterback so who do you have you've got Dorian Thompson Robinson is is sort of your second-year player who played really really well last year until he got hurt and then you brought in another free agent quarterback Tyler Huntley from the B bore Ravens they hated Baltimore Ravens right um and so you've got a couple of guys that are I I think duking it out here through through training camp uh and now here through the preseason and I I think that maybe that number three quarterback jobs already been decided uh I think Dorian Thompson Robinson if you look at the playing time he got if you look at the numbers he put up if you look at his performance on the field his command of the offense again with a bunch of bu of guys really that probably aren't even going to be on the team here in a few weeks uh I think he secured it personally I really do um and nothing against Tyler Huntley look that was to me it was a weird thing bringing him in thought it was weird him leaving Baltimore after he's backed up uh Lamar Jackson for a couple of years and played well don't forget Tyler Huntley started a the playoff game for the Ravens a couple years ago against Cincinnati and he was one weird goal line fumble returned for a touchdown away from winning that playoff game uh and getting the Ravens deeper so he has certainly got skills He's Got Talent I have nothing against Tyler Huntley I just think he was coming into a weird situation here the Browns didn't really know what they had still with with the DTR they didn't know how he was going to come back from the injury was last year him playing well was that just a flash nobody really knew so they brought Huntley in as some insurance and man I I think Robinson just outplayed Huntley Robinson got the majority of the DTR got the the uh majority of the playing time he went 14 of 18 for 134 yards a 97.7 quarterback rating which is really good uh Huntley on the other hand six of nine 41 yards with a 76.6 rating and I think the amount of playing time you got from DTR is a huge indication right already in preseason game one of what the coaching staff thinks uh of what direction they are leaning for the qb3 job Winston also made an appearance in the first series four five for 30 yards a 91.7 quarterback rating again his job is secure uh DTR would have to do something tremendous uh to earn that number two job or you know a weird injury to to jamus Winston um for for for DTR to get the number two and you know what I might be okay with DTR is a number two if it came down to it I don't know that I would have a problem with that but overall I I think of the biggest position battles it's weird to think that qb3 is your is one of your biggest position battles on your team but it is again look at what happened last year uh but I also don't think there's any way they keep Tyler Huntley and DTR huntley's not going to want to be your emergency quarterback and be inactive every every game just waiting on something to happen that's not who he is he's better than that and I think the team the Browns will will offer him maybe the option you know do you want to be that guy you're not going to be qb3 do you want to be the emergency guy or do you want to go somewhere else and play and the good news is for for uh for Huntley is that the guys that tried to replace him over in uh over in uh Baltimore are not doing very well uh Josh Johnson did not play well liry did not play well they may have a backup quarterback issue on their hands in Baltimore so if Huntley uh yeah if if honey can't make the roster in Cleveland man just look for him to go back to Baltimore probably where he'll be better uh be more comfortable with the offense um but I think as far as the Browns go I think DTR is your number three guy and I don't have a problem with that let me know what you guys think though either here in the uh comments under the video here on the fan screen sports TV YouTube channel or reach out to me on Twitter or sorry on X I am indart you can all find me on Instagram Facebook all that good stuff I would love to correspond with you
