Canadians are chiming in on that fiery debate last night and as our Karen seolin explains just moments after the political Smackdown came to an end one candidate received a big endorsement both candidates were really looking for h a campaign altering moment and what uh people in Toronto who watched last night are taking note of today is that uh Harris seemed to bait Trump on sensitive topics like questioning the size of his crowds at his rallies uh saying foreign leaders call him a disgrace and claiming you know his fortune was built by his father in response a clearly rattled Trump was frequently on his heels and he was focused on uh defending his record rather than hitting Biden's and Harris's so who was the clear winner it will depend on who you ask however debate Watchers here in the city tell me over the course of 90 minutes Harris seemed to succeed bit by bit in triggering Trump's annoyance and anger this is what they had to say I just know Trump didn't win additional votes K Harris had Trump on his back foot and uh and she was uh digging at him that surprise you at all no not at all I think it's a great strategy and I think that uh that um hopefully she comes out uh and she wins I'm pretty much think she wiped the floor with him he didn't really answer any questions and he was just on the defense all the time so if there was a clear winner in your mind it was Harris oh 100% clearly Kamal Harris won the debate let's hope she can win the election I hope that uh the the right person comes out on top now after the debate Democrats notched perhaps the most important endorsement of this election cycle with Taylor Swift Swift uh with her nearly 300 million Instagram followers supporting Harris posting this picture of her holding her cat and signing it childless cat lady of course pointing at that comment made by Donald Trump's running mate JD Vin a Harris campaign official this morning saying that they are honored to have Swift support now it is unclear if the two candidates uh will debate again neither has committed to another debate however their running mates JD Vance uh for Trump and uh Tim Walls with Harris they will meet on the debate stage on October 1st
