Big News! DirecTV VS Disney-ESPN & More Could Go Dark⁉️

[Music] hey guys Freddy Tech back with another video from CFL Tech we have an important Media news story here now this is about the Direct TV Disney potential dispute now this is from the TV answerman and it will be linked down below if you want to check this one out now you may want to check this one out after you watch the video due to the importance of this for college football and NFL football fans as this is bad timing here if this blackout actually does happen now it could happen as soon as September 1st so this is not a good timing at all now Bloomberg is reporting that Direct TV's current agreement to carry the Disney owned channels including ESPN and some local ABC Affiliates might expire as early as this this Sunday September 1st that's the holiday weekend that's coming up so that's really terrible timing as far as football goes if a new agreement isn't in place by then it could be a blackout of the entire Disney owned lineup on Direct TV Direct TV stream direct TV via streaming and Erse so that is not good and there's a list of the channels here um that will on the link here if you want to check that out now it is of course the Disney channels and all of the ESPN channels you also have Matt Geo and all that so they own quite a bit so it'll be a nice amount of channels that will be off of the system should this go you know the negotiations go south and it looks like right now there's no agreement in place as of earlier in the week here in at the retir this recording so it's not looking good right now now we don't know if they're going to put something in place to hold this off because there's so much at stake with the NFL and college football seasons and the advertisers so there's tons of money here that could be affected so they're probably going to work as hard as possible to avoid this blackout but sometimes there's no way to avoid it as it depends on what's being asked for by Direct TV and what's being asked for on the other side so they're saying now you know Direct TV is looking to get some smaller packages in place it's similar to what happened with spectrum and Disney they want to get some different packages flexible packages for their customers so we'll see what Disney does when it comes to this what they'll do about this this will likely be a difficult and contentious negotiation which could extend a few weeks or more after Sunday's deadline certainly the companies could agree to a temporary deal that that would prevent a blackout while talks continued but Disney would likely not support that based on how it's handled a similar similar negotiation with Charter Spectrum in September of 2023 that dispute led to a blackout that lasted 11 days before Disney relented to give Spectrum the kind of package flexibility that Direct TV is seeking so they're looking for something very similar so chances are but the good news is there's some experience with Spectrum so maybe they won't let it go as far this time but it depends on how Direct TV is with this negotiation how strong they are they tend to be tough negotiators so this could be a long contentious battle but again what could prevent this from being a long battle is so much at stake with the advertisers and NFL and college football Monday Night Football is huge so you know this goes on Beyond 10 days it would be a big surprise but it's definitely possible but let's hope there's no blackout at all so what are your thoughts on this are you looking for another service right now in the meantime maybe look at YouTube TV or fubo if you want to get the ESPN channels there are different ways to get it but you have to look at your billing cycle with Direct TV see when your next billing date is timing is everything you don't want to pay for a whole month if the channels are blacked out you probably don't want to pay for the service if you're a big sports fan and one of the main reasons why you subscribe is due to that so look at your um you know billing Cycles see what's happening we wanted you to be aware of this so you don't go get a surprise late in the week or over the weekend when you go to tune into your game and the channel is dark so in case this does happen you are now aware of it so what are your thoughts on this are you doing anything to prevent to prepare for this um maybe you don't have Direct TV at all and you're just looking at this and saying great I don't have to worry about this right now so put your comments down below also if it's your first time here on the Channel please hit the Subscribe button it let you YouTube know you they love the channel and the content and also makes us feel great we love that too also hit the notification Bell so you know when the next video drops from CFL Tech Freddy Tech will be checking out of this one soon to be back with another take care [Music]
