what's up guys and welcome back to talk leester City Podcast um and Welcome to our match review b d be on this one and it's fand two Leicester one I'm I'm goed I'm GED um I've had 24 hours to try and digest this result and the performance as a whole and um let's let's be real light on the balance of play for them deserve the win and they're a good side this is the reality that we're dealing with here it's you know we we've had to start from scratch all over again in regards to our sides and the quality and this is ultimately what we're going to be competing against and uh and we're not really in that bracket to be out here at the minute and being in at about mid-table it's you know it's these bottom sort of six sides five sides maybe that we're probably going to be up against and we're hoping that we're best out of that five just to be able to stay up that's where we're at there's no doubt in my mind that we can be better of course like um but I looked at the side and I thought there's bits to Admire from it I I don't get me wrong like I'm disappointed with the result and I want us to go out there and always go and get the win and you know and I want us to push us to have that mentality but I thought the git the determination the mentality that we had to just sort of keep ourselves within there with like throughout the 90 minutes rather than just bend over and cave in like we did under Brendan Rogers like we managed to do that for 90 minutes and what It ultimately came down to as to why we lost and why we were conceding more chancees like and for them we're creating more was our poor retention of the ball the shocking passing mainly uh just playing out from the back it was far too rash um when we were trying to distribute the ball from vestard and he was just constantly trying to like do these thread these ball through this narrow compact film team that were just ready to pounce at us and that's what they're built upon they built upon the quick transition to go onto the Counterattack and we're waiting for us to thread the ball into the middle of the park so that they can claim it back and just hit us on the break straight away um I looked at our structure I thought we were positioned okay in the our press and we're kind of going manto man and you know it was a bit more proactive we didn't like we tried to be competitive and you know just stick it to film to a bit um when we look at the two goals uh just too many crosses coming in and particularly down James Justin side um and unfortunately when we look at his performance he ultimately cost us that game today uh with his poor performance with it like for the first goal not getting out quick enough not recognizing the danger uh that Smith roow was bringing when he was sort of bending out wide and you know I think I was fearing for him in the Tottenham game last time when son and Madison were targeting that left hand side where just was and um you know they try capitalizing it he managed to get a grip of it this this game he just didn't he just looked completely out of his dip and um it showed and it's just not really dealing with the danger quick enough not getting out to crosses from Robinson when he was whipping in and you know you got to be challenging you got to be going there and ultimately when you got like for players and they looked on it it was their first home game of the season we needed our players not only to show that fight which we did I I'm not you know I'm not buying that for um when we look at pundits and stuff that you know they weren't at it in terms of fight I don't know what quite frankly they were watching I saw a team that was fighting I just saw a team that was really lacking in quality in terms of on the ball our decision making and it you know even if we managed to play the ball out pretty well and get it into the final third when we got to the final third and we were trying to give it to buenon not or de DOA Reeds the the quality of the balls the decision making was just really poor and it was just a lack of service and we we had some like shots uh when it came from the odd sort of transition and set pieces we looked a bit of a threat finally um yes and it came to The Equalizer the goal I think we had to um ride through this sort of pressure um for like the first half an hour I'd say of the first half and we were just completely under the C and we was just like okay just keep it at 1 n just don't let it get away from us and we had this sort of 5 minute period where we were building and you know we were starting to keep the bit ball and not just stupidly give it away and that's when actually we kind of calm things down then make made the game Flow at our own pace and we started to build and get the midfielders onto the ball and start shifting it out to the right for Fatu who I thought was great um was just offering a threat and got some Corners as well and that ultimately led to the goal and finally Rec capitalized on it I don't know why as well that um that Lineo needs to be sacked honestly the fact that he even had to go to VAR to allow that goal is absolutely disgraceful happily um we're fast like Hallelujah we've got you know um a set peace coach and you know he seems to like manage to get our physical players involved and actually you know we're actually capitalizing on set pieces great that's a little positive to take forward and then you're heading into the second half shaky start again many crosses and you know with fham in uh their attacking areas they were uh very roly winning a lot of aerial jewels and yeah you know it was a bit of a threat but I think in over that sort of 60th minute to 70th minute period um things started to calm down we had to a bit more of a ball and I think we were starting to grow into the game and even with aou coming on and trying to win the balls back and uh yeah it was an okay debut there's nothing too special don't get me wrong uh you need to sort of see him settle into the team first and foremost it's an impact sub um but then yeah you just Justin again you you can't be making mistakes at this level him going out to Robinson who's not his man and you're trying to press him and it timately leaves a wobi free and Robinson can just flip the pass to him and he's just shooting for on goal that just can't happen that's a fatal error and these are the fine margins you make a mistake like that even in the Press um for them were just waiting to capitalize on it and they've got the quality to be able to do that and that's ultimately what punished us today those five margins you can't be making mistakes like that at this level especially with Defenders um I think with Cooper I don't get people slandering him for the sake of I mean as well some not I'm not was legislating all all of us have but you know I think we've seen some sort of criticism towards Cooper and not being proactive and it was a bit flat I thought we were engaging I thought you know we were trying to build when we had the ball and we looked you know um we weren't just sitting back in a parking bus in the line like in the first half of Tottenham that's not what I saw if you think that you need to go and rewatch The Game in my opinion because I didn't see that at all um but where you do call to Cooper for is the team selection now I don't get why Ricky is not starting um he's more of a technical fullback he's smarter in possession and even out of possession he reads interceptions he can read opponents and see whether they're going to drift inside whether they're going to running behind and he can anticipate that and be able to deal with the danger so like if Robinson goes out wide and is trying to whip the ball in he's closing him down because he's seeing it coming if aobi is trying to drift inside like Ricky would track him and not allow him to sort of like drift through into the final third Justin doesn't have that knowledge he doesn't have that sense to be able to anticipate there were little bits and stuff where he could in the Tottenham game but he wasn't at it completely there today I think the reason why Justin's in the team is for the sake of pace and that's all well and good if you have pace and power but if you don't have the brains to match it then it's ultimately useless and you know that's where we're getting found out at the minute I think if we want to build out from the back effectively then we need Ricky in the team we definitely need mad in the team I don't know why he's not been starting um don't get me wrong like I like deod DOA re as part of the squad but he's not a first teamer he's not a starter and Stephie as well he needs 90 minutes just to be able to build into the game and you know he can SS out the opponents and stuff and to like what he needs to do whether he needs to run in behind be direct going to the box to get on the end of crosses or try and drift inside and see you know weave about opponents draw fouls you know he's a progressive player that's he's a dribbler that's he thinks and sees like how things go about in the game and he needs the full 90 minutes to be able to do that you're not going to get that impact from him off the bench so and it it's baffling because Cooper has watched all the games from last season and he leaves out two Mo of our most pivotal players from last season in Ricardo and madid and I just don't get that we'll have the trir game so hopefully they'll start they'll get minutes and they'll show us why they should be starting for the Villa game in my opinion they both should be um I think they would be a debate as well with indei um some good bits but I think when he's pressed on the ball like cheaply giving it away too many rash passes um not really settled on the ball in terms of the buildup he's not particularly comfortable with it these are concerns I had from last season well for the last few years with indeed that he was cheaply giving the ball away when under pressure and um you know I think he he he got like really hard done bying that Midfield and um maybe that's why skipp has come in just to be able to offer a more calming presence of the ball like someone who can act as a PIV it and also do the dirty side of the game as well maybe that's why Skip's in there so um we might be able to see more of skip and see if that's a partnership that he could go with Winks I'd sort of certainly try that out in the tram game and see what happens from there um but yeah I just think the long goes on with Cooper like I know it's two games in but if he persists with it with just an Indi over read this is going to stir up some problems I think not only within the van base but also with um within the squads really like imagine how must Stephie must be feeling coming off a brilliant season and his manager then leaving and all of a sudden he's not being rated by Steve Cooper and um who let's be hon honest is you know it's just a whole different style and not as good tactically as Enzo was um that's you know I'm not trying to knock it I think it can work with Steve Cooper in this sort of pragmatic robust way but he's got to recognize as well the talents that he's got and how you need to engage with him and how you need to fulfill their potential with them and if you can't sort of see that and Stephie will then eventually lose confidence and when you do need to call upon him he won't be able to be in form to be able to deliver us what we need the goals and assists that we need um Ricky has a bit more of a stronger mentality but still like I think we're losing those aspects whil like they're both out the side at the minute I think we've got a good 11 going into it there um I think another thing is clearly we need attacking players in we have to be getting another striker in we have to be getting another Central attacking midfielder in and if it's those two players then I think we may be okay I mean maybe a left-sided Defender as well just to try and offer a bit more competition there and shake things up between vestard and fast I mean vestard was pretty poor I'd say well I think a few players were in ultimately when we're going up against films like that are on it then yeah I mean look at Smith row like after losing Kenan would have killed to have him at us and um you can clearly see why they paid a lot of money for him and uh it's a shame it's a shame but you know we got to face up to it we got to try and deal with it um we got a week left of this window we got to try and invest we got to try and shift out a few players to be able to get in signings and uh let's see what happens we head into trir we head into the Villa game as well all eyes on the board in the minute they need to like really step it up and try and complete the squads and at least give us a bit of hope that we have enough quality because we all due respect I don't think really that you can look to why he was a goal scorer like okay he can bustle about he can graft he can get fouls and create opportunities but he's not going to score your goals we need goal scorers in the team
