very happy to be joined here in Studio by Chris Ketchum he is one of the three co-chairs for the Bordertown hog toy run thank you so much for joining me today well thank you for having us of course now it's we talked a couple months ago about uh about this toy run now it is finally happening on September 14th this Saturday um but first can we start with for those who may not know this is the 13th annual but for those who may not know can you give a brief history of what the toy run is sure so I'm one of the newer people to the to the group and as a co-chair this year uh for far as I know 12 or 13 years ago now uh a group of local Riders decided we should uh you know give back to the community they saw a need for uh some of the children in the community and they said let's go get raise some money and some toys and let's donate them to our local charities so yeah again that was 13 years ago and to date they're approaching $750,000 and uh again we trying to do it for the next this year and many more to come so yes it's impressive especially going on 13 years now it's amazing and it's it seems like it's just grown from where it started which is amazing now talking about this year uh the 13th annual what can attendees expect if they're new to the event or even returnees if there's anything new this year how does the day work because this is a full day event absolutely so first I'd like to say it's welcome to the entire community uh it doesn't matter if you ride a Harley or ride a BMW or Suzuki it doesn't matter uh we encourage everyone to come out uh we start the event in we're at denim kryler who's ABS is our title sponsor and uh very generous of them to host us again so we'll be starting the pancake breakfast at 9:00 a.m. uh we'll be or serving till about 11: and then getting ready for the ride itself and that'll be kick stands up at 11:30 uh from there um we actually will then start our ride and we can talk about the route if you like so from denim we leave we're going to turn left on Highway 17 uh we have the RCMP who will be graciously uh will be helping to block traffic and there'll be about 20 of us in orange vest also our road capin to help block traffic so just wanted to say big uh to tell the community that uh we'll we'll have the right away and uh the thank you for the in advance for their patience but uh it's uh we're gonna head to North to the main intersection on Highway 16 and 17 turn west and go down Highway 16 and then head out of town so if you can't make it to the breakfast in the morning come join on the streets and wave and check out the bikes and uh people have toys strapped to their bikes and uh it'll be a great event we should have usually we have around 100 to 150 bikes perhaps more the weather supposed to be good so it sounds amazing and like you said a lot of numbers so a lot of turnout um and it's it's great to you know come together as Riders like you said it's open to any type of Rider so it kind of brings together a niche Community as well um in terms of donations how does that work how how can people donate or in terms of toy donations what are you looking for yeah absolutely so we're first of all we're would definitely collect toys we can talk about that in a bit as well but uh cash donations are welcome uh you can get a hold of us uh if you haven't seen us on Facebook yet or we have posters out there with uh all the contact information uh one of the the three co-chairs would be gladly uh help you figure out how to make that donation but uh it could even be uh a silent auction gift we also do raise money that way as well so and then for the toy donation itself are you looking for brand new toys gently used or you kind of so people have it in their minds what what they need to do if they need to go out and purchase a new toy yeah for sure so we're we actually one of the things we do with the toys we not only give back to the local charities here we try to do a special ride to either the Emmon or Saskatoon Ron McDonald houses and go and visit them and see the see the kids and drop off all these toys and extra donations so uh usually we ask for new unwrapped uh uh uh uh toys and things like that and then we'll get them all packaged up and brought to the respective Charities wonderful now at for tickets how can people purchase tickets um who do who do they need to contact or where do they need to go to purchase tickets for this event yes absolutely so again you can call ahead and look at the uh their contact information on the poster but even at the day of the event so at breakfast if you want to come down and uh just get a ticket the ticket's $40 it includes the the entire ride and also the the event itself and supper uh again we can talk more about that but uh if you can get it in the breakfast it's great cuz helps us solidify how many numbers for the meals and things like that but uh yeah you could also buy tickets at the Lloyd a WLS Center the at the event itself but wonderful and now finally uh just to re reiterate the time the date and the location for the start of the event and then where uh people can meet up if they can't make it to the breakfast yeah for sure so again 9:00 we'll be soing at denim krysler uh kick stands up we call it we'll be leaving sharp at 11:30 and again heading north to the highway 16 and then heading west and from there we're going to go out of out of town to about the Northwest area we have a midpoint stop planned with the at duberry so we'll be at the arena uh and big shout out to the dubery egg society as well and there we'll have a burger or by donation a burger or a hot dog cold drink bag of chips that kind of thing and uh so yeah we're encouraging those communities to come join us there as well after there we're heading back North towards the Hinesburg area we'll swing around go by Mar Way get back onto Highway 17 head south and then we'll end the event at The Stockade Center or Lloyd X yeah wonderful well this sounds like it's going to be a fantastic of event and it's going to raise a lot of money and toys for those children in need at those hospitals so thank you so much for joining me
