[Music] hey pac-12 this is mike safel coming to you from this beautiful berkeley institution i'm your former center now i turn student assistant coach so we're gonna go behind the scenes all access we're gonna have a lot of fun we're outside the aaron rodgers locker room one of the best quarterbacks in the nfl building is a pretty nice locker room so we're gonna go in there we're gonna check it out so we just got in the facility and we got some pretty spectacular people at this institution we're gonna go meet a couple of them [Music] i got the whole camera crew here okay two jobs for you this morning perfect okay first one just can you check the notes yes from yesterday's meeting high level work right here i'm gonna be reading over the players notes from the meeting and i will be uh giving them out of letter grades and i'm a strict grader so they better come with them on the notes okay your second job is the sax hit hurries tape we'll highlight them this is a huge part of the job for all the fans out there being a power user and knowing how to use all the exos tools that we have at our disposal well it's obviously brings a lot of excitement enthusiasm he loves football and the kids really feel his passion he brings a lot of expertise being a former all pac-12 player team captain here at cal an awesome assistant to have and i rely on them quite a bit well i coach offense alignment yes and uh i try to attract them into my office both me and coach angus are very conscious about our health and healthy eating so one candy equals three omega-3s okay so we're really about our fish oils here and heart health you know what this is mike's world that we're all existing in yeah yeah we are living in mike's world right coach wilcox kind of asked for my thoughts before every single game and you know he kind of considers me a mentor to him as far as you know him being a younger head coach i would say so kind of keep his head on straight and every week you know slide on the paper of what my thoughts are obviously we were bummed out you know that he had the injury but mike could be a phenomenal coach if that's what he chooses to do but he's going to have a lot of options it's kind of like either get into coaching or late night television like those seem to be the two career paths right now so we'll see he's going to be successful and football could very well be a part of that if it is we're going to do everything we can to keep him here especially for me being like 22 fresh off an injury i feel like a lot of coaches would just be like all right well if you can't play for us there's no value and he's off the board and that kind of thing i think the thing that makes coach wilcox special anybody that comes in the office he can find value for him and he can bring out the best traits in that person i think he's really done that for me you know not only been like a life mentor you know a father figure i would say especially as i you know kind of in a challenging time figuring out my future and they give me a value as a coach i mean there's not a lot of guys in this world or maybe even you know this coaching business that would do that you got the o-line trophy right there the morris trophy from alex max for offensive line and i guess my recruiting pitch to an offensive lineman who's watching this if you want to be an nfl offense alignment and you want to take your skills to the next level we are getting heavy formations we are running the ball and that's what nfl coaches want to see and that's what this program brings i mean that's the offense we're going to continue to have going forward and this is an nfl system so he's already got it i told you i mean there it is right there i couldn't have said it better myself [Music] let's do it today big v i can't believe they really might be up oh look at sammy he was a popular guy at elementary school look at that hopscotch right there let's see that big hand let's see that big paw energy coming from the elbows through the forearm into the heels of the hand and then it's a kinetic chain man that's a big word right there bareback all right [Music] now when you come to him now don't when i bring this shoulder through don't turn the shoulder bring that shoulder right through boom and stay square that's the movement [Music] nice nice there we go good finish good finish bdr hey man that was a great maniacal monday practice i got something to say one two three
