Not long ago, DEMAR Hamlin wasn't sure if he would ever get to play football again. Sitting in the uncertainty was like eating at me, you know, it was, it was really eating at me because football is truly my passion. You know, it's the thing that I've always been obsessed with after suffering cardiac arrest in January of 2023. Hamlin has relied on being process oriented slowly taking all the right steps to return. The last season was primarily just about healing and making myself do the hard stuff, thrusting myself into things that were uncomfortable, you know, that, that maybe were fearful or, you know, gave me anxiety, but, you know, I was doing the hard stuff last year to make it easier this year. And now Hamlin has been named the Bills week one starter alongside veteran safety Taylor Rapp for the first time since his collapse in Cincinnati an accomplishment. Now that Hamlin said he's not finished with just yet, you're not gonna lie, man. It's like a dream come true to work so hard and then get what you worked for. Um, but, you know, I, I wanna continue on, you know, it's not about just performing in one game. You know, I wanna be able to take my process and, you know, make it, allow me to be successful the entire run. The decision ultimately decided on by head coach Sean mcdermott was made because of Hamlin's consistency on the field despite all of the challenges he faced off it. And what else can't this young man do? I mean, he's basically went through what he went through on the field. You know, it's one thing to come back off of an AC L or a broken bone. Uh It's another thing to come back off of what he came back off of. Right, let alone just to decide to play football and contact football right in full pads at the NFL level. Um, I don't think I need to say anything more. Hamlin will now continue to take one day at a time in his process, starting on Sunday afternoon against the Cardinals on your side in Orchard Park, Lindsay Moppert Channel two sports.
