I was coming off a three-day Coke binge where I didn't eat sleep or barely drink any water here I am 31 years old broke strung out sucked up just skinny just at Rock Bottom Chad Hanks turning a scary low Point into a sobriety success story one better than I've ever been I see a text from my mom and she says isn't this your 2year sobriety day and I realized yeah it is this is my sobriety Anniversary Mom Rita Wilson sending love on Instagram for her son's candid post a sneak peek at chess's emotional moment on The Surreal Life Villa of Secrets we have a birthday tonight everybody we have a two years continued sobriety for Chad Hanks ladies and gentlemen that's a big deal God is great life is good God is great that's all I got to say I love this a family night out and we've got Chad here we got the family business you know what did your parents make of you going off and doing this were they excited for you yeah they were actually really supportive because the sural life is a different type of show the support from Chad's famous folks coming after hard times for their son who's admitted his drug use began when he was only 16 2 years ago today I was coming off a 3-day Coke binge when I got to Vegas I wa we 190 lb at the end of it I weighed 163 I lost 27 lb in 3 days and I just knew man if if I if I don't change my life in a drastic way either I'm not even going to be around or something bad so bad is going to happen that my life might as well be over it felt good you know cuz I feel like everyone got to know me a little bit better and it's uh it's real you know Chad checking into rehab soon after his Rock Bottom in cincin and two years out he's happy sharing a whole new reality with his co-stars I've always gotten a lot of reality tv offers and I've always said no because most of those shows are like really negative and just you know around gossip and just fighting and arguing and just really messy but this is not that it's a completely different type of show so uh when the offer came I discussed it and everybody thought it would be a great opportunity for me as for Chad's next chapter he's just thankful his story wasn't cut short by a painful addiction but by the grace of God I managed to just do the work get myself clean get myself sober and now look yeah I I joke around a lot and sometimes people don't really know like when I'm being serious or not because I'm kind of a troll and I I I kind of like live my life as like satire or like performance art on social media so I wanted to get the chance to like really show people the real me and just you know be myself completely and show a more vulnerable side to me [Music]
