this three-year-old ran onto the field in the middle of a World Series game and it created the Darren Baker rule Darren Baker was a three-year-old and Son of manager Dusty Baker who had him be the bat boy because he was battling prostate cancer and wanted to spend as much time with his son as possible he did the job without issue for most of the season but in the World Series things were different in a massive spot in the seventh inning Darren's favorite player Kenny Lofton came to the plate the other bat boy told Darren that he was going to be the one to get Kenny lofton's bat and Darren took that personally Lofton hit a triple and determined to be the first one to get the bat Darren ran on the field way too early he ran across home plate as two Runners were coming into to score and nearly missed a collision after JT snow scooped him up with one arm to save the day Darren Baker eventually did get the bat and get back into the Dugout but it became front page news and that off season MLB banned bat boys under the age of 14
