Coach Greg Hudson live from Texas A&M’s Kyle Field on college football week one

all right joining us today on Pirate Radio live I I can't see his uh beautiful Baldhead in studio but man what a shot of Kyle Field there at College Station Texas Greg Hudson on hand for Notre Dame and Texas A&M HUD what's up man you are looking live Texas A&M baby you little Brent Musburger action there uh how do you rank Kyle Field on places you visited we'll see a game day coming up Saturday but uh that's a pretty cool place right number one they just took over the number one spot how about there's no brick and mortar in the country that I would say is better than what they got going here wow pretty cool they got a new they got a new building they opening up a student wellness center that's bigger than most buildings on regular campuses it's they they've got all the resources here that they need coach used all those resources before and it didn't exactly work out true true hopefully be all right I asked you last week a bit of a house divided game uh your your golden domers taking on Texas A&M where your daughter is employed now and you said no question about it you got to go with blood so will you be wearing that maroon I guess this weekend well I've already got some of the black on with Adidas so uh yeah I'll be I'll be gigging them all the way here yeah and yeah hey you're not the first one to ask that question and uh but uh no it's uh it's just like you know happy happy wife happy life you same way with your kids and the last thing I want is to see her sad and you know you know I have you know my affiliation and affection for Notre Dame but I'm in a little different situation where you know I've rooted for a dozen football teams in my life yeah you know so I'm sort of used to saying no I'm pulling this team or that team but um this is this is a KN place I've I've been here now about 24 hours and it's uh it's really a real deal on the on that note with allegiances you've had in the past and and we'll get to some of the games this weekend but looking back at week zero what's your uh take on what happened to the guys from Tallahassee in Dublin how about that loss to Georgia Tech last Saturday that's a bad loss you know one you you don't even like car rides home after a bad loss let alone to fly across the Atlantic Ocean after that I I couldn't imagine that I would have to take a few sleeping pills and endure that one but you know Georgia Tech could run the football and if you can run the ball I don't care how spread your philosophy is when you have to win a football game and you got to run the football to do it that's that's that's a winning team so uh the guy you know he's a he's a saving disciple he's got he's got a good staff I know that two of the guys that were uh at uh Duke with Coach Elco who's here uh the defensive coordinator and uh one of the defensive line coaches is there at Georgia Tech so I got to see them in action last year and you know how the defense was at Duke so I I wasn't really surprised um I thought that trip would would either cure you or kill you if you're Florida State you know get you over last season but now it just opens bandor box up to all the speculation from last year and and stuff like that so that's a tough one going to be a I'm I'm in your corner but I'm in your corner which is rare I'm in your corner on keep America on on on our land football on our soil uh going to be a tense atmosphere at uh dop camel Monday night when they play Boston College that's going to be a weird one I feel like so yeah that'll be interesting they got to get that one man H uh let's talk about some other games going on this weekend some great ones at noon uh the the headliner will be Clemson and Georgia and my brain just wants to tell me Georgia's going to roll uh they're going to dominate any chance uh Dabo can get back to the Glory Days there with the tiger what do you think about that match up well if you're asking me what I think um I think Georgia will endure victory in that uh in that matchup I I just they're really good down there in Athens and he's got the same operation going that basically passed up Uncle Nick and uh I think that monster is just going to keep getting fed and keep being at the top for a long time and I you know Clemson you I did hear you know how much they doing in the portal how much are they doing this and that right um you don't you don't see or hear much about that and I really didn't pay attention but in conversations with other people I don't you know I'm I'm going with Georgia how about the other one at noon I I I maybe I'm under selling James Franklin and Penn State because I feel like I only watch them when they play Ohio State in Michigan and they always lose those games uh they are at West Virginia you've been there a few times as a coach and you know how it gets I love the the Mountaineers chances on Saturday what do you think about that game you know what they're they're riding momentum and I'm sure they that's all they've talked about is how they finished last year year and and what they want to put together this year and and I'm I'm going to I bet everything I have that they've been talking about starting fast after finishing strong all those uh you know on liners that you use to motivate the team and anytime you got to go on the road to Morgantown West Virginia it's not an enjoyable experience and it's it's a tough place to play I'm guessing not only that but they're probably taking a bus from Happy Valley um uh I don't know if they're flying it's a small airport in Happy Valley it's a small airport in Morgantown so unless they're taking two small planes I don't know what they're going to do HUD uh looking forward to some other action on Saturday 3:30 I now when you're in Tallahassee coach in Florida State who do the folks hate more Miami or Florida Florida okay man they they won't even drive a gator on campus for the equipment and we used we drank Power Aid there a no Gatorade on that campus they wouldn't even wear a lacost shirt with the G you could you could take a bow and arrow if you wore one of those uh on that note are you going with Miami uh Saturday how about the Gators and the canes man I don't know what's going on in Gainesville but I'd go there for the money but I wouldn't go there for the misery and uh I'm gonna no they're just not playing defense like you need to play when you're in the SEC and you're in Florida and it's going to be uh an interesting game Mario's been cranking out players I believe I'm going to go with a and I just changed the shirt I had a Muller shirt on but I'm going to go with uh a transfer that's going to be I believe the carpenter is the starting center for the canes you might have to look that up and he's a Muller Crusader out of Cincinnati so I'm going with the you all the way those Muller guys are everywhere we have learned from yeah we're we're like we're like a bad Penny we just keep showing up man HUD uh looking for an edge one way or the other with Texas A&M Notre Dame you sent a a link earlier this week of your guy Aaron Taylor uh talking about Notre Dame banged up on the o line youngo line crowd noise uh you know how how big of a factor is that going to be is that going to be a flaw for the Irish coming up Saturday night with the o line man I think every element's in play down here in Texas that's it's a different type of sun that I'm seeing up in the sky it just feels different because it's it's hot and uh it's going to be cranked up here I've never seen so many tents it's Tent City getting built around campus and this place is going to be loud it's going to be humid I don't know how hot it's going to be and they do have an offensive line that traditionally you know Notre Dame is is stacked at offensive line and they just you know had another couple high draft picks leave and they're inexperienced and that's the last place you want to be inexperienced and on the road against an SEC defense that's got crowd noise of 109,000 people coach H East Carolina will wrap it up here has not started 1 and0 since 2016 hard to believe but true we think we'll be able to do that this Saturday will it be easy or norick state put up a fight against Florida A&M will they do the the same against the Pirates what do you think about that one Saturday night um no I don't see how that can happen I mean they they they got to they'll win that game they got to come out the same thing starting starting fast and getting after it well HUD will let you get after it out at College Station thank you for joining us man thank you for the
