When God Says Enough by Dr Bailey Smith

glad that we were the reason he died on the cross gave his life for us thank you Daisy you know last year when she did U get that microphone with all of that lipstick on it she calls it brown sugar you might remember one of the tallies was up here singing you remember that Jimmy and he got it all over his face I mean he had it from his nose to his chin and he didn't know why we were laughing at him and uh it was hilarious I mean he had that lipstick all over it looked like he'd run into a brown I mean a red basketball Daisy I mean he just lipstick all over him which was uh hilarious we had the black singer at our Starlight Crusade one time Willa dorsy sings for Billy Graham quite a bit and Willa is shaped a little bit different than Daisy but I had introduced to Willa as my sister in chist Christ I said I I know we're different colors but I love her and we've done Crusades together and I just love Willa dorsy well when she got up to sing she said well I love brother Bailey he's my brother and said uh same God made us but when he made me he just left me in the oven a little bit longer than he left brother Bailey and uh so when I got up to preach I said I appreciate what will adori said about God leaving her in the oven a little bit longer than he did me I said said in fact Willow when you stand before God he's going to look at you real good and say Well done well I'm glad we are Brothers and Sisters in Christ amen and uh Daisy you did a job well done and I'm grateful for you didn't you enjoy the sight sisters along with Daisy well they were just [Applause] super now they just kind of all of a messed around today but they'll really get with it tomorrow and in the morning we've got Jimmy Draper Ron Herod Tom ell Larry Lewis John bramlet tomorrow afternoon if you've never heard John bramlet bring your seat belts uh because he is something else used to play pro ball then tomorrow night Nelson price Leonard Raven Hill and uh let's pray that Dr Raven Hill will make it the last word is he will he is about 80 years of age but I'll tell you how many have ever read anything Leonard Raven Hill let me see how many have you read anything he wrote one of the greatest anytime you see a Leonard Raven Hill book buy it if you don't you'll be held accountable at the judgment and then Dr Adrien Rogers will close us tomorrow night I talked to him yesterday he's got a word from God for us tomorrow night and Friday Junior Hill Johnny hunt Bill Stafford and uh tomorrow afternoon Sam Kathy Bobby BS and then of course Jerry Vines our current current president of the Southern Baptist convention and Jerry fwell then I'll have a brief message to close our conference well aren't you glad the Lord is Blessing these days we're able to see people get saved across the country I believe it is a new day and I'm grateful for what God is doing across this nation to see people saved and all of this conference will be devoted to helping the pastors to go back Layman to go back and Lead others to Jesus Christ Dr Draper really promoted his people to make this their fall Revival they're not having a fall Revival so they put all of their emphasis on this conference and how we thank God for their concentrating upon this effort he also asked them to bring people here tonight and let this be indeed a Revival like night that's really what I'm going to do tonight I'll be talking both to the saved and to the lost really preaching on this subject When God says enough I do believe that God is a loving God but there's a time when that love turns to Great judgment and even in his judgment he is a god of love in fact there's nothing you can do to keep God from loving you a farmer had a Weather Vein and that Weather Vein was a rooster standing on the stem of an arrow and uh that Weather Vein on top of the farmer's barn and across the stem of the arrow upon which the rooster stood there was a little phrase that said God is love somebody said said to the farmer does that mean that God's love is just as ficked as the wind the farmer correctly replied no what it means is no matter which way the wind is blowing God is still love Mel Trotter many of you have read his life story was a wicked man Mel Trot was so wicked that when his little infant baby died Mel Trotter went went to the funeral reached into the casket and stole the shoes off of his dead baby's feet took them to the bar to purchase one more drink and you got to be a scoundrel to steal the shoes off of your dead baby's feet to purchase another glass of liquor but that's what he did three weeks after that Mel Trotter was gloriously saved he established the Pacific Garden Mission that's won literally thousands upon tens of thousands of Street derelicts to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ what I'm telling you is we've got a God that can love from the gutter most to the uttermost we've got a God that can reach down and save folks and bring them to New Life life we have a loving caring God even though that is so there are still two instances in the Bible where God says he gives up one time he gives up for the Christian one time he gives up for the Lost person we're going to look at those two instances tonight and I believe that when God lays a message like this on my heart it's because somebody here several some buies really needs to hear what God has to say take your Bibles and go to First John chapter 5:1 16 1 John 5:1 16 and we're going to see when God gives up on a Christian now obviously he never gives up on a Christian spiritually because once a person is saved they're always saved you cannot save yourself so you cannot lose yourself but what we're speaking about tonight is that physical death that will come to a Christian if he Rebels against God that is called the sin un death as God describes it in 1 John 5: 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death he shall ask and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death there is a sin unto death I do not say that he shall pray for it God says there's a time when a Christian can commit sin after sin after sin they just practice 1 John 1:9 and they go on about their business however God says there's a another case that if a person commits a sin they will not be able to go on because God will sign their death warrant they'll step over God's deadline they will indeed know an early early death well I remember right here in this church in fact I didn't even think of it until now as I'm preaching the one time I remember in the Revival at Ulus a man came down canceled a trip and I'm sure brother Jimmy remember his name he had an unusual test testimony I mean a strange testimony but he said I believe had I not canceled that trip and been in this service God would have killed me God would have done away with me and he told the whole church on a microphone standing about right there what his sin was that he believed would do amen there is a sin under death God says In this passage that if a person commits that don't pray for him and my wife says about me that if you spit in my face today I won't remember it tomorrow and I don't know whether that's true or not but I I do have a real problem holding grudges against folks and I don't like War I I'd much rather have peace and Congeniality and compatibility with people and so there's been two or three occasions in my life when God has said to me quit praying for somebody and buddy that's hard for me to do because I don't like to give up on anybody I like to see people changed and I like to see people come to New Life and new zest for God but when God says to give up on somebody you better give up on it but you better be very careful that God says give up because sweet friend I want to tell you something we need to love people as much as we can to a saving knowledge of Christ but he says here very very strongly we're talking about a Christian now a Boran person he says there's a sin that they can commit that if they do it God said don't even pray for them you could call Billy Graham you could call the pope you could call the ministerial Alliance you could call every preacher in Texas have the meet at first Baptist Church Ulus in some giant great prayer meeting and you could pray for that person but it would do no good God would not hear you could not drag that person back across that deadline that they've already stepped over because it's called the sin unto death and 1 John 516 says if somebody commits that sin don't even pray for it it won't do any good What a Sad thing for that to be you say wow Bailey Smith what is the sin unto death let me tell you two or three things about it I believe with my heart that the reason God laid this message upon my heart is because there's somebody here that's about to commit that sin and that apart from hearing this warning tonight you might indeed go to an early grave I say that with all cander and frankness and honesty and friend you don't have any choice to extend your life past this service if this message was intended for you let me tell you two or three things about the sin and the death number one it's called contending with God what is contending with god well that word is you know means to argue to debate to try to convince God to change his mind I remember 30 years as a pastor people would come to my office and I'd say what the Bible said and they'd say now brother Bailey we know what you think about the Bible but we know what it says over there in Proverbs but we know what the psalmist says but we know what Paul says there in Corinthians but I want to preach a message on Billy Goat Christians but but but but but friend if you know what the Bible says you better obey and a lot of people who come to the pastor to get counseling really all they want is the pastor's approval and there's some pastors that will approve anything but some pastors aren't saved remember that you say preacher you don't you don't really believe a man can preach and not be saved haven't you watched television lately friend I believe that when a man's saved he's a man of God when a man stands to preach he ought to be a man of God Amen he ought to be what God wants him to be called of God and anointed of God you be careful contending with God now let me tell you several things about this arguing and debating with the word of God several things about it number one contending with God is when God is trying to lead you into place of service but you won't go I don't know any bigger disgrace today to Modern Christianity than lazy Pew sitters who have never really made a commitment to Jesus they've got time for everything in the world but Jesus I was in an evangelism campaign some time ago it was a it was a conference a little bit like this choir we had a little speckled group of people show up in the choir I mean they didn't fill a tenth of it the choir director got up and he said well I want to apologize for the crowd but after all there a lot of things going on in town this week and I just appreciate this fine group said don't you appreciate them well we all applauded for the eight or 10 people up there he said now soon as they get through singing they've got to leave and they all got up and left right before I preached when I wasn't offended because well yeah I was too but I tell you the sad thing about it is where are the Christians amen where are those that mean business where are those that'll stand where are those that'll bear the marks of liser like Paul did where are those that are sold out to Jesus Christ that Shiite moslim drove his pickup truck loaded with TNT under that building in bayout Lebanon it exploded he was killed 343 American marines died some of them from the state of Texas they at they asked people how he could do that they say well because his Bible the Corin says that if you kill yourself while killing Christians you go to 8 months to heaven for a sexual orgy with all the beautiful women in the world now that young man died for a lie it's time we start living for the truth and my friend I want to tell you when you get to the point where you're too busy for God too busy for the church too busy for the Sunday School too busy for the music program too busy to give as you ought to give that I want to tell you you're in deep trouble you're aring with God begging somebody to take a class I remember nominated committee used to go to somebody and they'd say would you like to take a job and you'd always get this answer from some folks well now if you don't find anybody else you come back to me I've always wanted to get Folks by the nose like that and go I mean friend if you have to ask everybody else and you're the last resort you don't deserve the job in the first place it ought to be a joy when somebody ask you to work in the church contending with God is this when God is trying to lead you into place of service it may be to preach it may be to lead singing it may be to singing that choir it may be to get involved in your visitation program at the church but you refuse to get busy for God that's contending with God let me show the second thing it is not only is it turning your back upon holy service it is not willing to change the direction that you know's wrong some of you may be engaged to the wrong person for instance God never wants to save person to marry a lost person never you say preacher I'm not engaged to the wrong person I I'm married to the wrong person but there's no hope for you but if you're engaged to a person that's not saved break up tonight let God know don't ever go into business with a person that's never been born again it is never the will of God some of you about to make a decision that is going to destroy your life it's going to destroy the joy and the Peace of your heart but you're arguing with God you know you're going against a Bible principle and God is trying to change your direction but you will not let it be changed you be careful thirdly contending with God is Not only when you argue with God about a place of service or you refuse to change a direction you know it's displeasing to him but it's when God is trying to lead you out of a sin that you won't go oh that's a dangerous thing you know some of you and I frankly let me say this this is going to shock some of you but I don't understand how a person could have a sin today they had five years ago I frankly don't understand that I don't understand how you could have a sin tonight that you had a year ago you say wow Bailey Smith you're not perfect well I sure am not perfect I've got a lot of faults but I will make this and I know I'm making myself extremely extremely vulnerable with this crowd but I will tell you this if if there's something about me that's really hurt you and offended you and there something you really know about my life that has hurt your relationship to Jesus if you'll tell me father this service I promise you I'll not have that problem tomorrow night because I do know that if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to what and to cleanse us and my friend while a Christian can never be sinless he can sin less and the way I think a person ought to know that he's saved is that he has a desire every day to grow closer to God and to be closer to Jesus some of you you've had a tobacco problem too long some of you had an alcohol problem too long you say man you think drinking's bad I doesn't mean you're real evil just stupid I believe the national Insanity of this country is alcohol 55,000 Americans died in Vietnam and Jane fond and a lot of other people have gone crazy 55,000 Americans died in Vietnam but in the same period of time 216,000 Americans died because of alcohol and nobody says a word Supreme Court's not going to do anything too many of them drink AMA won't do anything about it too many doctors are drunk Congress won't do anything about it because too many of them have to have something to drink while they entertain secretaries who don't know how to type but friend America needs a moral bath America needs a moral bath and friend for anybody to take alcohol and claim to be a Christian you need to get on your knees before God and confess you just say how about a little bit don't touch it stay away from it stay away from it I don't know what the sin of your life is I don't know if it's tobacco or alcohol or gossiping or not tithing or being unfaithful in the church but my friend if God has shown you a sin and you know what God is doing right now he's showing it to you he's showing some people back here in the choir I sin in their life you know we really put the pull pit in the wrong place in the church you know where the pull pit ought to be it ought to be on the parking lot that's right that's where the pull pit ought to be that's the wrong spot so that when people get out of their car they can gather on the grounds on the asphalt Somewhere Out There the pastor can preach to the people they'll get the sin out of their life then they'll come into the house of God purified ready to worship that's the way it ought to be could you imagine the accumulated garbage in most churches on a Sunday morning the rated movie scene on the Saturday night the pictures looked at the arguments with the wife the cheating the lying can you imagine the accumulated filth we bring into an average Church on a Sunday morning no wonder not much ever happen we need to get it right before we walk into the house of God now friend I want to tell you if God is showing you right now a sin you need to forsake and you're not willing to do it that's called contending with God you're trying to keep a little sin let me tell you the real problem let's just say your heart is made up of 10 acres and you've got nine acres that you've given to God but in that 10 acre heart you've given one acre to you and the devil and you put a little saw hor there and you've hung a sign down from it it says God keep out this little area is for the Devil and me the problem is if you've got a nine Acre a 10 acre heart and you give God nine acres and you and the devil keep one acre how many acres choir can the devil get to that's right every one of them he's got to eess and regress to every area of your life you cannot compartmentalize sin and you not compartmentalize righteousness well you know preacher I have a wonderful time in quiet time and prayer I just have a little problem with adultery you see a man can't stand up and preach the word of God and live for very long with a secret sin buddy God will expose him at the most embarrassing hurtful time of his life and you say well God I'm going to give you nine acres but there's one Laker reserved for me and the devil and when we go to Las Vegas or when we go out of town that's when that one little acre is really going to show itself you better be careful because friend when you give the devil one little area of your life he's got access to all of it be cautious be careful let me say the second thing about the sin of death not only is it contending with God it is not any one particular sin what it may be for you may not be for me I've got to get purified myself before a holy God I I don't know the sin under death is for you and I don't know what it is for me I once said one time might be adultery for me and my wife said honey God wouldn't have to kill you I would but I think I'd rather die first friend I want to tell you something it is not any one particular sin it's arguing with God but thirdly let me tell you what the sin of and death is for a Christian a person that's really know he saved it is this it is rebellion it is an attitude that says God I don't care what your word says I just don't care I was talking to Dr Mark courts last week in North Carolina I was in his church for a Revival and God gave us I don't know how many hundred saved but it was a glorious week and and I said Mark tell me about the difference in a backslider and a lost church member tell me he said the thing I've always noticed about a backsliding Christian is they know it now you can I can I can deal with an old boy in my churches who came down the aisle and said oh brother Bailey man I've just been doing this and I'm so sorry I know it's wrong but I tell you the people you got to watch there those are those that are living a life and they've already made peace with sin they've made peace with the devil in their heart they've made peace with their mediocrity they've made peace with their Rebellion they've made peace with the fact they give 2% of their money instead of 10% they' made peace with their old rot and silly attitude my friend when you began to make peace with an attitude that God's not happy with that's called Rebellion against God and that is the sin under death when you get so rebellious and uncaring that no matter what the sin is it is still an attitude that God says God I don't care what the Bible says I don't care what Billy Graham preaches I don't care what Jimmy Draper says I don't care what the holy spirit is saying to my heart I'm going to do what I want to do you have a right to do that and God has a right to do what he can do you be very careful you say brother Bailey do you believe it's that strong well go to 1 Corinthians 11 for just a moment with me would you all of us know the context of this is talking about taking the Lord's supper unworthily and then Paul begins to broaden it I want you to I want us to look at 1 Corinthians very carefully for a moment 1 Corinthians 11:30 thank you for turning I'll give you a moment to get there 1 Corinthians 11:30 for this cause many are weak and sickly among you and many sleep what does the word sleep mean there they're dead for if we would judge judge ourselves now boy this is important we would not be judged but when we are judged we are chastened of the Lord that we should not be condemned with the world here's what Paul is saying many people at Corinth are physically sick because they've rebelled against God been disobedient to him many of your friends he said you've already put six feet under the Earth he said now the way for you not to be one of those is to judge yourself you see when we give the invitation after a while if you get down this aisle and you call what you're doing sin then God won't have to judge you but if you make excuse for that sin then you're not judging yourself and God has to I want to tell you in all honesty I've judged myself and God has judged Bailey Smith and I'm always easer on me than God is but as long as you make excuse a lot of people say well preach is not a it's not really a sin it's a I call it a habit God calls it sin boy I think the biggest excuse of all that people use well preacher you know may not be right but that's just the way I am you don't have to be the way you am you don't have to be that way I remember I used to have God always act ugly in business meeting when I was Pastor in Arkansas I mean he'd get up hot tempered redac I mean he'd say the worst things he'd come out of there and he'd say now brother Bailey I'm just like my daddy I don't embarrass you but if I had anything on my mind I just had to say it he said my daddy was the same way I want to say don't take the faults of you stupid daddy just CA your daddy acted like a ding-dong you don't have to a preach that's just the way I am that's just you don't have to be the way you are my friend when you get saved Jesus can make you a new creature amen I mean quit excusing your sin by calling it's a weakness or it's the glands or I'm unhappy or it's the attitude or the economy friend I want to tell you you can be everything God wants you to be you've got the power to do that you can gain victory over it don't tell me God is too weak to do that he is not too weak to do that I want you to go to another passage just for a moment look at 1 Corinthians 5:5 or it's getting stronger now it's really tough 1 Corinthians 5:5 really sums it all up to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus as much as God loves your body he says that a Christian who sins and sins and sins and sins I can never get his attention he said I just turn him over to the devil for the destruction of the flesh that he one day might be standing before the Judgment seat of Christ rightly represented as much as God loves you he's willing to hurt you now to bless you forever because as much as he loves your body and as much as he loves the phys physical needs of your life friend if he has to turn you over that your flesh would be destroyed by the devil that your spirit might stand properly before God he said that's what I'm willing to do friend you better pay attention you said now brother Bailey have you ever known anybody to commit the sin into death more than I have time to tell you about let me tell you what the process normally is before God will kill a Christian there'll be chastisement that's physical problem scourging that's when your whole life is in dis and thirdly God will inevitably send a warning from one of his preachers maybe radio television maybe just reading the word of God it may be some brochure maybe some uh gospel track you pick up but God will send a warning there used to be a golden-haired preacher of Southern Baptist I mean he was the guy that used at Glorietta and Ridge Crest used to passor a large First Baptist Church in the state of Oklahoma I mean when I was in college I was the president of a student organization and this man came to our school and and I was a chauffeur and drove him around and I was so honored to do that I remember when he preached in our Chapel 240 or 50 people responded I mean he had Charisma he had the power of God on his life but I have to tell you the more I spent with him the more I noticed the spiritual dent in his armor wasn't long until he left the state of Oklahoma and went East to a large fashionable affluent very wealthy prestigious First Baptist Church there were Rumors in Oklahoma about his relationship ship to women there are more Rumors in that church in the East he was elected to a high office in the denomination that I once held but he didn't show up for preside that year and all the whispering in the forer and on the sidewalk where'd he go where was he what's happened oh haven't you heard his secretary got murdered and they believe he did it to cover up his adultery with her I said you got to be kidding they said no it's the truth well he got off on a technicality but everybody knew the pastor had murdered his secretary Southern bapti most prominent sought after preacher of the moment he left that church got connected with Southern Baptist great evangelist at that time I and I had him at Dell City we couldn't get the crowds in the church was full at 6:00 he got to writing that evangelist uh sermons pretty soon that evangelist divorced his wife accused of all kinds of things with little girls take them out to his bus all of a sudden his life is destroyed he's out of the min and I said God if your word is true how can you let that preacher keep destroying people and destroying lives I was telling this in Huntsville Alabama and a young lady I was marching over to meet some friends after my service and hysterically a young lady came up to me she said preacher you know about that Pastor you talked about they killed his secretary that was my mother every night of that Crusade I'd sit on the front row and I'd counsel that young girl because she believes to this day that Pastor murdered her mother who was a secretary to cover his sin of a daughter then I remember picking up the Baptist standard and reading where this preacher driving his luxury automobile strangely stopped on a Houston Freeway and an 18-wheeler comes along and hits that preacher's car pushes it over on him and he's dead no doubt in my mind that famous preacher had committed the sin unto death I was in the State of Florida preaching a meeting for fine pastor and after the service beautiful brunette hair is black as Raven's feathers said Dr Smith I've got to talk to you very quickly and we stood by the piano and tears began to come down her face and she opened up her purse she said I'm sorry she just buried her face in facial tissues in her hands and wept and finally when she got through she said you know the late doctor so and so and I said well I guess I do I I just read a big article about him in Moody monthly had his picture that big she said he was my lover and on the way to his Deeper Life conferences he'd come by and spend the weekend with me at the condominium and she said for two years we've been living as husband and wife she said I I know it's wrong and said I don't understand but he bought him a little new airplane for his ministry and he was coming to spend a weekend with me and said you know he as a wife and three children but but it was just so sad and I should have never let it happen and boy folks I don't even want this phrase to come out of my mouth but she said he was on his way to to teach a Deeper Life Spirit fill conference and on his way there he was going to come by and stay with me a few days and she said coming in that new airplane they don't know what happened it was a perfectly clear day but it went down and he was killed young I mean he was handsome I've often thought to myself as that young preacher who taught Bible studies across this country was going down to that ground in that little airplane and I wonder if he thought about the nights of adultery with that woman and he knew at any moment his face would be crushed into that ground and that ground was coming closer and closer and closer and he thought about the sexual gratification he got I wonder if he knew that at any moment his body would be crushed and it would be burned in a great flame of horror I wonder right before he hit the ground if he thought about that sexual joy and he screamed out by himself words that nobody ever heard he said is not worth it I friend it's never worth it the devil's a liar say Amen the devil's a liar and my friend he's holding out little tidbits of this world and destroying marriages and preachers and destroying denominations because they're listening to the lies of the devil God help us remember family I used to counsel in Dell City some people here tonight would know them this boy was from the finest home I guess in our church Godly Parents godly people but the boy the best word I can find for him was slob I mean he had most crude language crude way of living little girl he married was a fine Christian girl but he treated her horrible wanted to involve her in all kinds of aversions I counsel with him for three years one day he was in my office I mean he'd say the most stupid things and um for instance she came to me one time she said brother ba Bailey I believe a wife ought to be submissive but I've got to ask you something he wants our German Shepherd to sleep in the bed with us at night what do you think I ought to tell him I said you look at him and tell him one dog in the bed's enough well one day in my office he used profanity I just got up out of my chair I said friend I'm through with you and God told me to tell you he is too he said wait a minute you're my pastor you can't talk to me that way I said I think I just did I said I'm through with you said you you mean I can't come back in here more no I said you can't come come back I said I'm through with you God's through with you boy got up and grabbed his little wife he said well we just going to get out of here Sunday night I came in from church went back to the bedroom to change clothes my wife was making me a sandwich and when I walked in Sandy said Bailey the phone's for you and I did something folks I've never done before since but I went to that phone and I picked it up and I said this I didn't say hello I said is he dead it was that old man man in our church said yes brother Bailey I don't know why you said that brother Bailey my boy's dead I said tell me about it he said I can't could you get over here well I went back to the bedroom put up back on my Sunday clothes and went over to that house where I'd been many times and I'll never forget when I went in there the little Widow was sitting on the couch just nervously twisting a little handkerchief in her hand and I sat down by her side and she said brother Bailey let me tell you what happened she said he went to the feed meal today you know he worked down here at Purina and it was his job to shovel that that feed into a giant augur in the floor and it grounded up into seed and Below there were conveyor belts I said yes I knew what he did and she said those conveyor belts brought sacks by and they they were full of they were full of feed when they went through that auger it ground the seed up into feed I said yes she said brother Bailey they don't know why it happened but as he was shoveling some High's foot slipped and he fell into that giant augur and they said it ground him up like hamburger meat they said the largest part of his body they found was the ring finger with the wedding band still on it she said brother baile it's no doubt in my mind God killed him he just had such Rebellion against God and Rebellion against the Bible and Rebellion against his parents no doubt in my mind I said no doubt in my mind either you said now Bailey Smith that's some sermon I've known these preachers that sell cars and run back the speedometers I've known these preachers who sleep with everything they find I know these preachers who drink I know these preachers who curse my friend you may know preachers like that but you don't know any saved preachers like that my friend God won't let them survive and continue in the ministry if they're one of his children very long with that kind of a lifestyle he says there is a sin un death and he says if a person ever commits that sin don't even pray for him it's too late and that's God's business who commits that sin but I'm looking at some of you right now you have CAU a little old sin for so long you made excuses about it you have tried to justify it you have tried to say well I need it and I want it and nobody's perfect and that's just the way I am but friend if you know that sin in your life you can get rid of you better do it you better do it let me talk to you just a moment those of you who are not saved there's another time when God gives up he gives up physically on a Christian but he gives up phys spiritually for a lost person Matthew 1231 and 32 the Bible says if you sin against the father it'll be forgiven if you sin against the son it'll be forgiven but if you sin against the Holy Ghost it'll not be forgiven in this world or what the world to come the other day a preacher in South Carolina accosted me in a strange way he said you try to help Paul well on that PTL board a while I said yeah I don't know why but I did he said I tell you I I hate the charismatics I said do you I said what do you hate about them I said don't you believe some of them are saved and really love the Lord he said well I ain't seen none I said what's your biggest problem with the charismatics now this is the Southern Baptist pastor you know what he said he said I tell you what I don't like about about them they treat the Holy Spirit like it was God a friend I don't agree with a lot of the charismatics what they do I don't speak in tongues I don't I don't believe in their interpretation of lot of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit but I want to tell you this we don't have God the Father like we did in the Old Testament anymore we don't have God the son leaving footprints on the seashore anymore the only God we have on Earth today is God the Holy Spirit and he's God and he is real and he's powerful and it's that God that when a man of God preaches and he puts out the gospel net and wants people to to repent and to be born again it is that Living God called the holy spirit that reaches down and grabs that heart and gets people to repent and gets people to be saved and wants people to be born again and woves them to the father's Throne helps them to know what it is to be washed in the blood of the Lamb it is that Holy Spirit that reaches out those arms of love and brings people to Jesus and if you keep frustrating him and you keep trying to say well I'm a Methodist and I'm a presbyterian and I'm a Catholic and and uh and I I I'm I know that I'm saved because I'm a church member I I don't need to get saved my friend there is not any denomination on this Earth that can get you into heaven you can't get sprinkled and get into heaven you can't get baptized and get into heaven you can't be a Baptist and get into heaven you can't give money and get into heaven you can't live good and get to heaven because my friend nobody deserves to go to heaven but it's what Christ did upon that cross and that alone that get you into heaven far by grace are you saved through faith that not of yourself it is a gift of God our friend you better be careful putting off God and making up your own religion better be careful let me tell you something you probably never heard anybody else say I want you to hang on to it's going to shock you a little bit I've had people say well preacher do you mean if I don't get saved tonight I won't ever get saved nobody I tell you what I do mean there's no place in this Bible where anybody ever rejected God that later got saved you read it you find me an instance in the New Testament where somebody one day rejected Jesus and later became a Christian not fesus not Felix not a grippa go on and on my friends some of you may have another 20 or 30 or 40 years to get saved but I'm telling you God does know you another night I preached in Africa like brother Jimmy just did so successfully and I've watched people by the hundreds to come and I preached in the Soviet Union in five different republics and I watched people get saved I preached in Moscow and watch people rush to the front I preached in South America watch people eager to be saved I preached in Korea and you couldn't have enough counselors to get to those people that came forward my friend why should a man of God stand before a group like this and tell you the truth and you walk out of those doors unmoved uncared unthoughtful about the Holy Spirit my friend the Holy Spirit can go where he's wanted there is a time I know not when a place I know not where that seals the destiny of men to heaven or despair there is a line by us not seen that crosses every path a hidden boundary between God's patience and God's Wrath my friend once you step over that deadline you won't ever get back across I'm looking at some of you right now you think you're going to heaven because you're good because you fine are you a Baptist are you an Episcopalian are you a Methodist my friend I've got to tell you being born again is not a Baptist Doctrine it is a Biblical truth and except a man be born again he will not see the Kingdom of Heaven there's no such thing is a born again Christian if you're not born again you're not a Christian and if you're a Christian you've been born again has that ever happened to you that's what God wants to know about I remember a friend of mine who used to witness to a man who' make fun all the time of his witnessing one time my friend went to S and the man had his little daughter there and he wanted to show off to his daughter my friend had a little New Testament you know what he did the man reached up like this and shut my friend's New Testament he said man I don't need that and he said a lot of cute smart look things you know what my friend did he looked at him and said I want to tell you brother God just told me had your last time to be saved he said preacher don't scare me with those kind of tactics he said I just told you that man went to bed that night he awakened with a bad headache he had an aneurism often not critical always serious blood seeped into his brain the man is still alive today but he sits in a little rocking chair with an afin draped across his lap you could go to that man you could talk to him about that microphone you could talk to him about the Vietnamese War you could talk to him about the price of carrots you could talk to him about jewelry it wouldn't matter what you talk about he sits in that little rocking chair with kind of a sickly grin on his face he's an embus he'll go to his grave and go to hell he's lost the capacity ever to be saved one time too many when he said to the Holy Spirit no get out of my life I want to read a scripture to you to tell you something that we're going to be through but I want you to look at 2 Thessalonians 2 for just a moment 2 Thessalonians 2 we're going to buy our heads in about 4 minutes but I want to read one passage I'm turning with you go to 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 please look at verse 11 you say man Bailey Smith I'm glad you're turning there because I've always wanted somebody to explain that to me I'm sorry I don't understand it I've read more than 20 commentaries on this passage and still very difficult for me 2 Thessalonians 2:1 and for this cause God shall send them strong delusion that they should believe a lie that they all might be damned who believe not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness God says there's kind of person who lives so low so ungodly so Unholy so long finally God says have it your own way you see there's some people who believe wrong so long they can't ever believe right you go to San Francisco to the average homosexual you ought to keep your distance and you say to that person don't you know what God says about homosexuality you know Romans 1 said God gave them up God gave them up you know what the average homosexual will tell you on the Streets of San Francisco well I just don't believe that I don't see that I don't believe it's wrong he's telling you the truth he doesn't see anything wrong with it he just doesn't why because God's word said they live dirty so long they have lost their capacity to know what's dirty God said I gave them up to a reprobate mind so that they'd believe a lie instead of the truth for one purpose they might be down our friend it's a sad thing when you live so Unholy so long you have lost the ability to even be excited about the truth of God's word and yet this country is full of them full of them they live so dirty so low so ungodly so away from the scripture so long they have lost the mental ability even to understand what's right their soul will be down to Hell forever because they belied that way and acted that way so long they lost the capacity to filter out the good from the bad I was raised in East Dallas my dad had a little church some folks here tonight were members fact you've never seen a church like I have a picture of it I cherish it was a tent with wooden sides that's right I was a member of a church for about 8 years it's a canvas top my dad put boards up on the side and every time it rained the water would come in we didn't have a floor we just had sawdust and when it would rain the sawdust would float and um it always rained every Revival and we'd had a we'd had brother Barnes we had bar brother Barnes every year and brother Barnes had a variety of sermons he'd preached on Second Coming one night hell the next then hell the next night Second Coming the next night all week long that night he preached on hell man the power of God was all over that little tent building we called it had a canvas rof with boards on the side sawdust was floating I remember people walking the aisle sloshing you could hear them slos and I remember this couple that came over and they were right over here to the right my dad always had MERS benches crudely made and I remember that couple getting down and this man was trying to get saved I remember that he had short sleeve shirts and he had the short sleeves rolled up a time or two also and his wife was there and I remember their feet in that water and I remember how the wet saus was clinging to the clothes and the man though was wrestling
