foreign the pr3 mixed Cox 4 final here at the Tokyo 2020 paralympic rowing Regatta Great Britain top of your picture there with the yellow canvas they're the big favorites they go in Lane one inside them the United States can they finally get the better of the Brits they go in lane two France in three Australia in lane four Italy in five Israel in six you're gonna have to go some to get past the Brits here early stages of the race the boat's coming up to speed now they're heavy shells these Cox Falls the weight of the Cox and on board you can hear the shouts here encouraging the athletes through their process in these first 300 meters so this mixed Cox 4 boat class the Great Britain have won the last two in London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016 when of course the race distance was halved it was only a thousand meters in those days Before the Race distance was lifted at the 2017 World Champs so this is the first paralympic rowing Regatta where our crews are racing over a full race distance if you will the full 2 000 meters the pr3 mix Cox 4's class we're seeing uh athletes with a verifiable and permanent disability who have functional use of their legs trunk and arms for rowing and who can utilize the sliding seat also a class that may include up to two rowers with an official impairment as we may have expected it's Britain versus the United States here the 500 Mark and Britain are just ahead 145 pointer 1-0 just over three quarters of a second up on the United States and then France in the bronze medal position at present back in Rio Great Britain took the gold there's one returning member of that crew on board James Fox in the three seats in Rio it was the USA who took silver and there's a returning member from that crew in Danny Hansen sitting in the two seat of this USA boat the USA have really committed to try and break through this gold medal winning streak from Great Britain when the lockdown hit the United States the athletes committed to a tough land training regime under the watchful eyes of performance director Ellen minsner taken it on as a challenge to take the gold medal learning streak away from this nation from Great Britain yeah it's looking good though isn't it Britain here we've got Ellen buttrick the 26 year old in the bow seat raccoita inner two James Fox as you mentioned there the only returning member from the Rio paralympic a victory team five years ago Ollie Stanhope the 23 year old in the stroke seat Aaron Kennedy the coxswain so Britain pushing out to this emphatic lead now over the United States that was what everything was telling us the historical record the the battle between these two it has been a case of a Britain dominating and that's the way this paralympic a final is panning out three three one seven one is the British time at the 1000 meter mark That's halfway in the race and the United States has been pushed back best part of five seconds down now on the Brits and it's France nine seconds back there may be a Sprint finish there may be a finish from the Australians who will look to try and get in that bronze medal position but this is Britain's to lose there's something very special in this Great Britain lineup they took the win in length at the world championships in 2019 setting that world best time and again taking the win at the Europeans earlier this year it's a very fluid movement beautiful technique very solid in the British crew and here's the French crew currently riding in third place yeah and Remy taranto also raced in this boat class at the London Paralympics and they've been racing together since 2009 the highlight of their careers came in 2018 when they went Bronze in the mix Four at the worlds for the uh 2021 Europeans earlier this year in variety Erica says oh they're in the bow seat is coming to the crew they took silver in that 13 seconds behind the Brits so so new to the sport stepped into the boat in 2019 her potential immediately spotted and it might help Drive the French all the way to a battle here currently in third place the bronze medal position but it's Britain streaking away in Lane one pushed out to Lane one the adjustment to the starting lanes for this Final in the pr3 mix Cox Falls but doesn't matter where they are out on the racetrack there they're still too quick for the rest of the field 520 2-9 and the Gap pushed out now to eight seconds just over the United States the USA coming through ahead of France France holding on to that third place the bronze medal slot ahead of Australia Italy down in fifth place Israel bringing up the rear in sixth they're in the stroke seat there for Great Britain Ollie Stanhope son of Olympic silver medalist and Henley Stewart Richard he joined the paralympic squad in 2017 was a member of the world Champs a winning cruise from 2017 2019 inclusive raced at Henley for Hampton School and also with the molesley boat club in the the Thames cup they've just carried on that winning tradition they've had to adjust the Personnel over the course of this last paralympic cycle but it doesn't matter they've got that winning tradition and they've got the right combination again in the pr3 mixed Cox 4 boat bringing home another gold medal barring a catastrophe we have to add it's looking like the Americans in the second place again and we hear the rules no crowd inside the Tokyo seaforest Waterway but assorted a crew members and part of the support staff willing the crews on and Britain are going to win another gold five years after Rio de Janeiro Great Britain uh the pr3 mix for champions again at the Olympic Games [Applause] coming over the line in second place are the United States again behind the Brits they just can't get back at them and the French have come through for a bronze medal Australia Italy and Israel four five and six Great Britain too much again for the rest it's a very special Row from Great Britain and you can see just how much it means to them across the line now that's Israel in sixth place but here they are paralympic champions yet again Great Britain in the mix cogs Falls Event yeah so that's two races in a row and two straight goals for Great British crews the mixed Cox fours here following on from the the mixed double they've done it but trick like a sky to Fox Stanhope and Kennedy just about three seconds outside the paralympic best time except by the French 24 hours ago in the rapper charges oh the United States sick of the side of the Brits it's another silver in 720 1-3 phenomenal achievement to take a silver medal at the paralympic games but I can't help but think they'll be heartbreaking that boat when they'd set their sights on the gold medal France then in a time of seven two seven zero four win the bronze medal first medal for the French in this boat class the mixed Cox fort bringing it home for Britain again so that's three straight gold medals in the mixed Cox fours are the paralympic games for Britain after 2012 and 2016. you can add Tokyo to the Roll Call and that race strategy is seeing it develop in a similar way to the mixed doubles event Great Britain just patient through these early stages of the race and then moving away from the field through the middle section well it's often the case I think isn't it in these a paralympic boat classes you get one outstanding crew be it a single skuller or a double or a mixed Cox IV they hit the front and just take it and that's been the case here in this boat for the Brits again trouble Great Britain win the pr3 mix Cox 4 at the paralympic games for the third Paralympics in a row and the United States well they get a silver for the second games in a row France take the bronze
