I'm meteorologist Joe Winters thanks for joining us for this weather update an excessive heat warning continues across Eastern Iowa right through Tuesday 100 to 115 degree heat index so again that continues there will be some storm chance it gets this hot we'll see some but overall more dry times than anything else as those storms move through overnight tonight we'll watch Northern Iowa particularly North of Highway 20 for the potential for a strong severe storm damaging wind would be a primary threat those don't develop though until late well after mid mid night and continuing through the morning hours if they do develop they could stretch far enough South to produce an isolated shower or storm that would be strong then hot and humid with some isolated storms possible on Tuesday we'll watch what happens and where things could develop again on Wednesday overall patchy as far as rainfall amounts it depends on where those storms do develop overnight tonight our first alert forecast muggy a storm possible North we are in the low to mid 70s and for tomorrow we're looking at a hot and humid Day storm possible upper 80s to mid 90s once again 3-day muggy meter keeps us very muggy in fact as we head into Thursday we're still going to see due points in the 70s heat index values though get much better after Tuesday where we see a heat index above 100 near 90 as we head through the end of the week into the weekend winds change by Friday around to the north and west and that will allow that southerly flow of air to move away and with that we will find some more comfortable air just in time for Labor Day weekend thanks for joining us for this first alert Storm Team update
