all right I'm going to start the stream make sure that audio is working okay see Carol's not here right Carol or yeah she's in the other room but she was tired well I'm talking about the other Carol too I you watched the debate last night Bob who was debating I don't know some yellow-haired guy talk about somebody eating pets yeah all those memes today were just so crazy what who's eating pets what are you talking about the presidential debate last night who what ate pets Trump claim that that Haitians in oh I were catching and eating people's pets which was a lie no he saw it on TV he saw it on TV and he thought it was real and his vice president was pushing that Meme and he saw it and repeated it everybody said what's wrong with this man what you say on TV it must be real right yeah just like the stabbing at my apartment building right and they show two women had a fight and someone got stabbed and they show footage of Kim and I walking out of the building as if we were the ones who had the fight and it's like and we didn't even there wer no news cameras they must have drones or something and then they put this like little clip on television showing the two of us with a voice over that two women had to fight and there was a stabbing and it's like that's bad journalism do them yeah that's that's right getting L well the backstory for Taylor Swift that she didn't want her music uh there was an AI uh representation of her supporting Trump which she did not endorse and so she released a a tweet or whatever uh saying that supporting camela and uh called herself a childless cat lady at anyway within a half an hour or so of her releasing that there was one million viewers of her uh it was on Instagram I think hope they're all voters and the number today is 300,000 actually went to a site to register to vote well they said that nobody's gonna just because she's popular uh JD van said nobody's really gonna vote from her group we'll see yeah I know Le he's spinning it he's hoping that that's true because they live in a different reality right so now the people that hate her have to vote for Trump because they hate her well whatever all right well are you up and running is everything Kanye West is voting for Trump who knows he hasn't said anything thank goodness I'm his parent I'm sure he is actually a friend of mine her cousin works for Kanye and said he is totally bizarre but his wife is actually very nice even though she wears crazy clothes who's his wife now her name is Bianca Cory she's always half naked but that's her F fashion statement there stories going around that he makes her wear that clothes I've read I read that too and then there was a whole article about her and it said no she she does it herself she's you know follows probably his wishes in a ways but she's not uh doing it under protest all right are we ready do you want to get going I think so yeah all right well it's 7:14 so let's officially begin all right so welcome everybody to our September slider group it's crazy that fall is already started I go I've been driving around and I can see trees already starting to turn a little bit so it's it's crazy I had to go to Cornell on Sunday and oh my God I could see trees turning all the way down it was seems a little early for me when it's still warm but oh well chill is in the air anyways um Steve is gonna start off are you gonna do Q&A or yeah let's do some Q&A I'm making sure the uh YouTube stream is up and can I hear what I'm saying Matthew feed you well last night today we got a pizza oh okay uh so yes um my usual comment uh if you can boost your volume going into YouTube please do so all right let me bring that back up I'm hearing a little feedback I don't know from where blue yeah the upper left yeah the upper left corner of the window um lights up who's talking most recently I'm only on one device yeah I only have own one device well if you mute your microphone then we'll be sure not to have noise all right so we had a question before we started um that kind of goes into today's main topic but we can talk about it a little bit I'm I'm sorry I apologize I'm going to interrupt again Steve did you boost your volume into YouTube no I thought I did oh no I'm sorry I boosted the wrong volume uh take this one no that's already at Max that's at Max and that's at Max um I can turn my volume up but I can't how about this if there we go if I move the mic closer to my mouth now I'm peeking into the Reds is that any better that did help yes thank you okay yeah we we always joke you got to get the mic close enough to your mouth like you really like it so Frank had a question earlier about when's a good time to buy an iPhone um the usual answer is just before they release the new one um so right now the iPhone 16 um is available for pre-order which means the 15 has dropped in price so if you want the latest and greatest then you go for the 16 if you don't mind um uh um taking a little oops let me bring this up here uh if you don't mind um not having the latest and greatest then um you can get the 15 or the 14 even um and uh and save a couple hundred dollars by dropping back a couple of models hey Steve your audio is fading in and out I'm doing the best I can I'm pecking into the red all the time let me try let me try talking up louder maybe Rick Rick are you talking about his audio on Mastermind lounge or on YouTube Mastermind Lounge yeah I'm I'm overdriving it according to the The Meters maybe the automatic level control is uh bumping you back down I don't know I'm hearing you fine on Mastermind Lounge I can turn off the audio filters we'll see if that works see if that makes it any better keep talking so yep let me get that window back here get to this one uh so when we compare the models um let's do iPhone 15 versus iPhone 16 uh so one of the options which is always interesting every year there's new colors so if you liked pink uh you're out of luck they don't have pink anymore um it's a different pink this year uh and uh so the the yellow and the green are now uh there's a different green but no yellow that was one of the one of the ways I had to I had to get an iPhone 11 for Shirley because she wanted that uh color of purple but now ultramarine is sort of the blue almost purple color um but when you look at them um the the from the 15 to the 16 they jumped two processors which is interesting what usually happens let me put the 15 Pro in here and then go to the 16 so typically they take the pro chip and move it down to the non-pro machine um and so we were expecting the 16 to have the a17 chip um but now the 16 has the a18 Chip And that's for all the Apple intelligence stuff so if you want Apple in intelligence and all that extra um um stuff we're going to talk about later with apple intelligence and you then you then you have to get the 16 what they have done is the 16 starts at 799 uh so and then the 15 is at 5.99 and we go back to the 14 now uh I'm sorry 15 is $6.99 14 is$ 499 uh so if you don't need the latest whizbang chip the a15 versus 16 but Apple intelligence is only on the 18 then you can save some money doing it that way um you can also trade your phone in uh to Apple when you buy a new phone um but sometimes you can make more money your um um Yourself by selling it yourself either on gazelle or one of the other trade-in shops or on on eBay I guess that's a long answer around Frank that now is a good time to buy a phone just when the new models come out the old models drop in price what uh what what phone are you do you have now Frank I have the uh 10x so I'm looking at the 16 Pro because I like the looks of the camera and the functions that it has yep so I figured you know I've waited this long I might as well you know you know jump to the best I can get it y because I keep it forever yeah so that's we say that to a lot of people who um get the who who don't upgrade often is is you should get the best you can because then it will last longer before it starts feeling old yeah because I also got to get the new watch also so yeah yeah the battery your 10 is six Generations old now yeah cuz I got watch at the same time and it's own battery life is only at 70% on my watch so it's time to move yeah and the new color on the pro is Desert titanium versus the natural Titanium or the white titanium but uh I was looking at thinking of you know it's going to come out with the next OS on it would it be whether to wait a little bit to get to get the updates on the OS forward or or as it comes out um on the new phone you'll get well we're at least we're expecting the new OS because that's coming out um uh next uh next Friday also um there will likely already be uh an iOS update coming so normally what they do is um um uh let me bring the page up uh they will they will do like OS 18.0 and they've already working on 1801 at uh at at home at home uh in the background so um starting on 9:16 next Friday um the OS 18 will come out and that's also when the phone is coming out so that will that will likely ship with 18.0 uh they'll be an 1801 pretty quick what what we generally recommend on any OS um is don't don't get the first one um because of the potential compatibility issues um but when you're buying a new phone you know it's going to be compatible with the new OS it's designed for so that's kind of a catch22 also if um let let me see here if we go back to this page and if I say I want to buy a 16 Pro now um if I let me build it up let's go for the new color uh how much storage you think you want and then double it so look how much storage you're using on your current phone and see if you're if you're pushing the limit before you need to move up to a new new phone see no trade in I'm going to buy it outright unlocked to any carrier and so it doesn't know when it's going to come so one of the things you can use you can use the U let me pick the other one the the smaller one you can use the website to see when you order it yeah we don't know don't know yet um pre-orders are opening this Friday I think it is oh no on the 13th yeah pre-orders open this Friday on the 13th uh and then you'll be able to hit that pre-order button what we expect will happen is within a couple hours the first batch will sell out um and then so it may be a few weeks before the next batch comes which will likely be enough time for the OS to be updated too so it kind of all goes uh goes in together uh does anyone else have any questions or should we just uh go into the iPhone news okay let me bring this tab up so the big thing um they've added now is uh well that's going to go f go by too fast they have added this the the side switch am I I'm doing this I want 16 and so they've added a new Switch a capacitance sensor on the side so that you can use it for camera control uh you can use it to bring up extra settings on the camera a lot of stuff that it was already there um in uh stop in in the other buttons around the screen but it's handy being now a new sensor on top so that um you don't have to um um touch the screen and risk moving the screen or or um uh um unfocusing what you're trying to to focus on um so they've added this second button so one of the bloggers said that um it's it's been nine years since Phil Schiller announced they had the courage to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 um and so now they've added another button back so now we've got five buttons on the phones still no headphone jack but five buttons in a port all right um so 6.1 inch for the standard Pro 6.7 in uh for the plus um and the so the pro and the plus are basically the same phone I'm sorry no the 16 and the 16 plus are the same phone uh with new colors and then the pro and the pro Max are the same phone um and the Apple intelligence is now activated the way Siri used to be with the side Siri button and now instead of the uh the little glowing thing at the bottom that Siri used to be uh it's the entire edge of the screen and that's basically uh where was there a play again that's where they U um glow up tagline they had when the announcement went out so the whole Outer Edge of the phone glows when you activate uh Siri which is now powered by Apple intelligence um a lot of this they talked about at WWDC uh but now we were we're seeing it for the first time uh in the phone uh being able to have uh additional writing tool so you can summarize you can do grammar checking uh you can ask Apple intelligence to rewrite this to be more concise or to be uh more verbose or more professional um see some of the big changes they've added uh with that uh decide action button now you can program it to do other things rather than just activate Siri so you can bring up notes or bring up um um phone or photos so you can have it open a uh a specific app um you have there's now a priority inbox in your mail so that people you mark As VIPs or things that Apple intelligence thinks is extra important that will move to the top of your inbox uh Google has done this for a while I never liked it because then you sometimes miss a message because it doesn't think it's a priority um and can they without their privacy the way Apple intelligence runs there there's U different modes one mode runs only on the phone itself um and then there's another mode that if you ask it to do something a little more um uh compute hungry it opens up a private uh compute int uh a compute instance on Apple server to do your task uh and then it deletes that um instance and uh and whatever data it had goes away so hopefully uh we'll see in practice how well that works and so the the one of the common features to use the slider for is a more precise Zoom so now right now you have to actually pinch and zoom on the screen so you're obscuring your subject when you're trying to zoom in on it um there we go replay so here you can slide your finger along the sensor so you can zoom to just the right area um uh andjust the right Zoom you wanted without obscuring the subject while you're zooming it you can also press and hold and make it do extra things as well um so it can act as a shutter button so you press it it takes a picture you press and hold and it starts doing a movie and if you do a light press it that's Zoom a harder press is the uh take a picture and when you double press it can open up more settings so you can control what settings you want to have open so again these are all the same sort of settings that were available uh in the front interface usually at the top of the of the screen but now you can access them without obscuring um the the the screen with your with your own hands so that's kind of Handy uh new camera system one of the rumors was that they were going to separate the cameras farther so that they were closer to your interocular distance um so when when it it can shoot 3D video it looks more like this the same distance of your eyes apart um it's not quite that far apart uh but it still it can still do um that with the ultra wide they call it a fusion camera so it has a new Ultra wide camera um to be able to take macro photos and so we do a macro half scale uh 1X did uh analog no yeah 1X analog Zoom 2x digital Zoom uh analog Zoom sorry plus the digital zoom on top of that so being able to do macro shots of really close up I think this is the poison dart frog that get you get high when you lick its back uh and then the spatial computing uh a special capture so now you can take three-dimensional video to be able to play back on the um Apple Vision headset and let's see if that button does what I want it to no that's just text so so by by showing basically two eyes it's taking uh taking stereo shots uh with both cameras so it can create a um three-dimensional view when you're viewing it with the Apple Vision Pro when you're not viewing it it um mixes them together to show a single image so you can still see the pictures you took uh they talked again about the microphones built into the phone and the studio quality mics um people that actually run audio Studios uh don't buy it they're they're too small and too far away from the subject to be studio quality most of the professional recorders will uh will have a wire going from a microphone into the camera but without using um uh you know special mics it does give you really good audio uh to capture what you're doing um for your for your video and one of the neat things is you can change I don't know how this is showing on um on The Mastermind you can change the effects after you take the picture so you have photographic Styles so after you take the picture you can change to a different style so here's the the black and white style Vivid color you know natural color there was a camera that allows you to do Post picture focusing by taking ACH bunch of different pictures at each focal length so after you take the picture you can change the focus from the front to the rear which is uh which is pretty amazing um when you get a style that you like you can then save that style so it sets it across all of your photos um all the time so you don't have to make the edits on each photo separately which is Handy um what what I get a kick out of is is almost all of the features of the phone they talk about is are the camera because that's the big the big thing is is you have a camera in your pocket that also can make phone calls now and then if you if you need to um so the megapixel count they haven't really talked about lately um because of the the computational photography let see it's not going to tell it there yet um but it does use a 48 megapixel sensor uh to be able to take um um that type of of high very high quality fiture again with the A8 processor um so let's do oh it won't let me compare back to the 12 Frank so it's uh 60% faster uh than than the 12 um with a six core CPU and twice as fast in graphics with a five core GPU um because it has that extra power in the chip longer battery life uh 22 hours of video playback 27 hours on the iPhone 16 plus because it has a physically bigger phone they're also be bringing up a faster charger um so you can charge it up to 25 watts and they have the fast charging mode will give you 50% charge in 30 minutes um so that if you're running out of charge you plug it in for for a little bit of time you can get a um a a better charge again and again that's five more hours of video than the 12 uh buil build out of aircraft grade aluminum um although how many people saw the Delta Airline uh airplane that got R ran into and ripped the tail off so aircraft grade aluminum doesn't really mean as strong as you think it does it's very strong and Light uh excuse me just a second here hey Matthew he's on he's on his computer in the other room um ceramic Shield so it's not just a glass cover it's a ceramic Shield to uh to help resist um cracking although the joke is you drop it uh 10 times and nothing happens you you know you drop it a 99 times and nothing happens and then that 100th time uh you've weakened it so much by then that it uh that it does finally break well and there you can see the uh the new capacitance sensor versus the older action button Splash Water dust resistant but not waterproof water resistant so if you drop it in water get it out of the water as fast as you can new colors the same black and white we've had but now a new green a new pink and a new blue the action button um can be programmed to do other things and it can also be uh programmed at different times to do different things so say during the day um it you can tell it to answer the phone but dur you know at night um you can tell it to turn your lights on um so we still have the the silent mode U uh switch or you can switch that into different functions with that action button so you can make the action button do different things and the neat thing with the shortcut is you can as as I just mentioned you can program a shortcut to launch different applications and do different things at different times of the day and there's people that are really deep into short shortcuts um you can custom well customize it with the right word I guess it is uh you can you can change the background color of icons so when they announced this feature a lot of developers were pretty mad because you know they might have spent a lot of of time and money designing their icon so now if you want a dark mode on your phone with a dark background you can change the background color of all your icons um you can personalize your home screen so that uh you can put the things you want to see on your home screen without needing to go into a um uh uh into the phone itself so I have mine showing the current WEA excuse me the current weather and my next upcoming meeting so some of this customization was available in OS 17 uh they're adding more in in os8 uh let's see with the redesign photos app you're supposed to be able to find your photos faster um collections organized by topics so I want to see what it does to my photo library of 90,000 photos um text messaging you can now do more you can do boldface you can do uh italic you can do Under under line so you can do more things with text and some of this is kind of in response to an EU ruling that Apple's going to start using uh a new text standard called Rich communication systems uh right now text messaging uh is a relic of the original cell phone days from 20 odd years ago limited to 140 characters and most people are are using internet messaging without actually realizing it but that's the blue bubble versus green bubble so blue bubble means you're doing an internet message green bubble means you're doing a text message but um text messaging doesn't allow the all the types of emojis and reactions you can do the new Rich communication system will and Google and and um Samsung are both supporting it on their phones as well so Apple has to have new things that uh their messaging app can do um so that they can tout how how much better they are than the old style uh also now in in the iPhone 16 uh plane um there's satellite um communication built in so if you're in an area where there's no uh cell signal you can still do messages via satellite you can do roadside assistant being via satellite um and Apple's including two years of of service for free uh last year when they announced this feature on the high-end phones it was one year free and we all wondered what would happen at the end of the year so now it's two years for free um we kind of expect Apple will keep doing that for free and and uh and not make you pay for that type of stuff although I did read an an interesting uh story about a guy who was lost in the mountains and and almost died because he didn't answer the phone when a rescuer called trying to find out where he was because he didn't recognize the phone number so he didn't answer the phone and almost died um and again it's got the crash detection that previous phones have as well uh and it's recyclable and private um now this was the new password app is interesting because it used to be you go into settings and then passwords and there were all your passwords um now they've they've pulled that out into a separate password app because people don't know where their passwords are so I'm wondering if they're going to keep it in settings that opens the same app uh or if you have to go to the password app to see all your saved passwords and you can share passwords with uh contacts so like your bank account password you need to share with your spouse you can do that we're down about 24 see um that's the end of down 40 the pro or the iPhone so let let's go up and do the iPhone Pro and we can see the extra features they have in the Pro um biggest difference with the th the pr it's got three cameras instead of just two starts at $9.99 so it's $200 more than the standard camera uh it's got the same capacitance touch uh there was the Siri glow I don't know how well that made it out on the uh on the stream uh the same yeah same capacitance touch they've upgraded it to 4K 120 Fram per second Dolby with four mics and it's even thinner than it was before without sacrificing uh battery life and the new A8 Pro chip versus the regular a18 chip um is even uh even bigger even better uh let's see so now the the pro starts at 6.3 in instead of 6.1 and the pro the pro Max is 6.9 in instead of 6.7 in the previous version so the new Pro phones are even bigger uh than the previous Pro phones at no additional um uh uh raise in price 9.99 and $199 uh see that's all the same new titanium new recyclability they've made the bezels around the screen even smaller um so that's one of the ways they made the the screen image bigger is by making the bezels smaller uh grade five titanium that must be better than grade four titanium right then on the pro model you've got the black gray white and desert so sometimes the phone uh choice you want depends on the color you're getting uh the new ceramic Shield is even harder than before all the same Apple intelligence stuff um one of the things I liked were they uh you can generate a an image now automatically so it's like having something like mid Journey built into the phone uh so they had a what they type in disco ball pigeon uh you can out clean up photos um by removing background uh objects or people now a lot of that uh that was available in in third party photo apps uh but now it's built into the Apple camera app we see a lot of back and forth between the Google pixel camera app and the iPhone camera app that each one claims they can do the next cool thing when third party apps could do both of them long ago uh privacy thing is the same camera controls are the same um let me find out exactly what cameras so it has a better camera with the three cameras now um yeah 48 megapixel so Fusion camera it can mix all the cameras together uh to create the image uh same audio stuff they have a bunch of shot on iPhone videos U we're wondering how much I'm Eric Hendrickson I'm the cinematographer and we're on the Seth wi the weekend shooting this music video on the new iPhone 16 Pro okay hey we're going to do a super fast song try to sing on it try to sing on [Music] it when we were told that the iPhone now shooting 4K 120 frames per second we wanted to do a music video shot in slow motion 48 megapixel uh we'll get to that in a text speex in a minute so with the uh 16 you had three three modes uh uh no four macro half one and two so on the 16 Pro with the extra camera you've got the same macro 13 millimeter 24 millim 28 35 48 and 120 so that's kind of neat with with a 5x telephoto lens so that's the original uh picture and you can zoom in 5x Optical and you can you can then go another I think another two digital so you can get 10x digital Zoom so it's like having a giant 120 MIM lens on your phone which there are adapters to use big commercial enges with your phone uh again the photographic style you can choose so there's a lot of overlap in the features of the 16 n16 Pro save your aesthetic the chip so 16 core neural engine six core GPU six core uh CPU so 28 cores in in your phone and you look at the one of the last Intel Max um had eight cores in it and that was exciting and now the phone has has 24 cores in it and 60% faster CPU and twice as fast than the GPU so if you're doing firsters games they run all the better you it also works with Bluetooth um uh gaming handhelds twice as fast as the 17 Pro so if you're even moving from the um the iPhone uh 15 Pro you're going to get a better performance out of the 16 Pro that's all the same that's all the same that's all the same the satellite is all the same environment's all the same uh everything talks to each other so the six iPhone 16 starts at 799 16 Pro starts at $9.99 one of the things I always like to do we'll go to the pro Max let's use the new desert color one terabyte of storage on your phone uh we'll do no tradein and for we spending $1,600 on the phone um let's uh we definitely want to put Apple Care so we're going to buy it outright connect it to anywhere Apple Care theft and loss uh we'll keep paying until we get rid of the phone yeah so we're $1600 for a phone so we're uh we're in the mid MacBook uh air range even the the entry level MacBook Pro range for a phone which is crazy all right let's do text spec so this is kind of the cool thing all the differences between them um so it's interesting is the regular 16 comes in 128 gig that's how they get the price done to $7.99 but you can also get that with up to one terabyte 199 grams or 227 grams for the Pro or the plus so instead of 6.1 and 6.7 they're now 6.3 and 6.9 uh but the outer dimensions of the phone didn't change uh that much because they made made the screen bigger uh 6 met for 30 minutes maximum uh immersion uh but yeah try not to do that yourself uh let's see yeah 48 megapixel Fusion uh 2x telephoto on the um 16 and 16 plus dig here we go digital zoom up to 25 uh uh where's the other piece I wanted to yeah so the front camera is 12 megapixels same face ID same Apple card cellular bands location so that's all pretty much the same as it was there we are so we've got the USBC connector remember last year they moved to USBC um and uh and most and the other announcements from yesterday um all of Apple's accessories um except the Apple keyboard still U are now USBC so You' got your side button to activate Apple intelligence um or sleep wake is what it often is well your action buttons your volume up and down your camera control so we have five buttons in one port so uh we're back to using buttons again again and it can use usb3 at 10 gbits so if you are shooting high quality video um it will um be able to transfer to your computer faster it uses uh display port protocol so you can plug into VGA or HDMI monitors in fact a lot of times the same monitor you plug into your computer you can plug into your phone as well now char charging faster charging with magsafe all the built-in apps so sometimes you don't even have to buy a new app uh because um pretty much all the apps you need are built in and the EU is uh is a little annoyed by that so now you can have dual eims but they do not have a physical SIM card anymore so they're electronic Sims theoretically That was supposed to make it easier to switch phones uh or phone carriers but it was never as easy as pulling a card out of one phone and putting it into a different phone uh one really neat new feature that's coming is hearing aid compatible uh there was apparently a change in the FDA regulations for hearing aids so now you don't need a prescription for hearing aids uh and so there's a lot of uh over-the-counter devices now coming out uh to to be a hearing aid without the ridiculous price that most uh commercial hearing aids were that was that so all the same languages are available uh they're including a charging cord usvc to usvc uh they are not including a charging brick again there was a lot of controversy when they stopped including the charging brick uh but Apple said a lot people already have charging bricks we don't need any more waste but people had usba charging bricks not USBC charging bricks so if you need uh a charger so Frank in your case you're moving from the um uh uh iPhone 10 uh has a usba charging brick um you'll need a new USBC charging brick separately as well as the cable that comes with well I got one that came with my iPad so that should work yep Sam you wec well yeah uh and they one's interesting now is they're highlighting now switch from Android they've they've had an Android app for years now to allow you to switch all your stuff from Android to Apple um and they're starting to accept trade-ins on Android phones which is also new so they're trying to um uh uh attract more Android users and so it just copies all your data from your Android phone to your uh Apple phone um with all the samees does it show no it doesn't have the apps so um the apps you have on your Android phone it will try to download equivalent apps uh on the iPhone so a lot of companies will have both an Android and an iPhone version so the um uh Android migration will will automatically download the new Apple apps on your iPhone so you can migrate uh easily from an Android phone to an Apple phone now as well how many people think they're going to get the new iPhone 16 or 16 Pro so Frank is in yep I'm uh I'm sure uh next month Adam and um Chuck will talk more about it and we'll we'll have some firsthand views from people that have had their hands on one we have a iPhone 8s and I'm thinking about getting a newer one maybe a 14 or 15 M any good reason actually go to a 16 the biggest reason is if you want the Apple intelligence that only works on um well it works on the 15 Pro or the 16 um one of the nice things on Apple's website is you can go to the iPhone and say compare iPhones um so we can put in you said you you have an eight yeah so we can put in your eight and see so so how small it is compared to the well let me do it this way we'll go in bigger sizes uh so you get a much bigger screen and um the 16 has Apple intelligence the 15 pro has Apple intelligence but the 15 itself doesn't uh because it doesn't have a big enough chip in it so if you're looking to get into Apple intelligence you probably want to go with at least the 15 plane um and we expect more and more things over the coming years will will use apple intelligence so it may not be a good idea to get a phone without Apple intelligence now you may end up needing a new one sooner but we don't know and you can save a couple hundred dollars you save $100 by going to the 15 and 200 by going to the 14 so the one thing the big difference on the pros is the three camera system so you have your main camera your Ultra wide camera and your telephoto camera so if you like what does a a two camera do that a one camera doesn't and same question for a three camera well with two cameras you have your main camera and a wide camera so you can take wider pictures um and then three camera adds a telephoto so you can take pictures from farther away okay how far back will this let us go the SE first generation so we see which is the same physical size of the eight so the SE third generation is still out now um let's compare that to the 15 and the 16 so the SE used the 15 chip so that was that was about equivalent to a 14 or no maybe a 13 so they use that a15 chip for a couple of generations so we're expecting a new SE Third Edition or I'm sorry fourth edition because we're at three now um next spring which will probably be based on on the uh guts of the 15 so it may have the the a a bigger chip in it but it's smaller physical phone there's a lot of rumors now that they might get rid of the button and go to face ID on the SE um the uh the SE is the last one that still has the physical home button versus uh versus face ID on the other ones so in addition to the phone uh they also came up with um Watch series 10 I love some of these complicated complications yeah like this one look at all the little dials on there with so the joke is that they're called complications because they added so much complicated gears to the original watches that used gears uh so it's got the uh heart rate monitor it's got the fitness monitor you can get a model with cellular service although most of the time you really probably don't need cell service in your watch that's for like you want to go running and leave your phone at home because it weighs too much or uh so you can save $ hundred and something doll by getting the watch without the um uh Cellular in it uh if you got the location system uh and then the the new Ultra uh for extreme athletes so it's extra rugged uh it can dive to 100 meters um it can climb mountains and work in thinner atmospheres so the watch SE now starts at 250 the watch 10 at 400 and the ultra at 800 um so let's go to watch series 10 so the display is the the whole screen is even thinner um uh the uh sorry the watch is thinner they've added um a sleep apnea feature is going to be added uh soon so you're going to have to uh watch wear the watch when you sleep so that always begs the question of when um uh when are you going to charge it if you're wearing it while you're sleeping so when you're in the shower pop it on the charger Let's see we go to next nope that was too far this one no all right we'll do it this way okay um so better sensors for um a water temperature water depth I think that looks like a surf board maybe uh fast charging again you can get an 80% charge in 30 minutes so that's the when you need to um uh charge it when you're uh after the shower or during your shower so can you set that probably not that's probably done automatically it just learns to do it yeah so the phones the phones and computers have been doing that for a while especially the phones you plug it in to charge it and when go to bed it will do a slow charge up to 80% and then it learns your habits of when you get up so say you get up at nine um it will make sure it's at% by 9ine so get up in the middle of the night go to the bathroom it won't be charged yet because it's a it's bad for the battery to stay fully charged for too long so it automatically um tracks that so it doesn't uh overcharge the battery so the display is even bigger than before uh but so it's it's thinner than it has been but the display itself is bigger which is kind of neat so there's the difference between the 7 eight n and 10 couple of millimeters doesn't look like much until you wear it on your wrist all day long so they went from an old so the previous models had a red ring on the digital Crown so people knew you had the new version now it has a gray ring on the digital Crown so people know you have the new [Music] version so be this screen is bigger by making the bezel smaller so it's up to 75% more screen than the series 3 and up to 30% more screen than the four five or six so even though the watch itself isn't that much physically bigger uh you're getting quite a bit bigger um screen size they've added a new color uh jet black with high gloss that's always the new color you've got to you got to look out for they've added a new rose gold and then traditional Silver so this rose gold is more coppery than some of the previous Golds so it basically the same black the same silver and then another color you get to pick and you get to color accent accent it with the bands so you can get one phone and get dozens of bands so there's titanium finishes there's natural finishes and then the gold finish so titanium is even better strength the weight ratio than aluminum so it's lighter and stronger than aluminum or would be or steel uh you've got your heart rate monitor built in uh it'll watch your overnight vitals so it looks like heart rate breathing temperature and how long you were uh in bed so it can help track your health I use a program called sleep and every morning when I wake up it says you slept really bad and I said thank you I know that between my uh sleep apnea and surely hitting me when I snore too much uh let's see yeah so we've got sleep we've got um heart rate vitals uh for women it can help track your cycle to let you know when you've I related uh the fitness section has been uh updated now it's it better watches and can can automatically start a work out there's a big problem where you you start working out you forget to tell your watch so then it doesn't count in your watch um a new water temperature sensor so uh can tell if you're uh if the water's too hot uh for good health see uh Apple intelligence um can work with uh U uh the new ear uh airpods as well uh has translation built in uh that has been a separate app for a while but now that's built in so you can do um especially with the Asian languages uh you can do the actual pictographs and then the um uh uh um transliteration and if you do get a version with cellular means you can uh you can go without your phone and still be able to answer phone calls uh same Apple pay they've added a new um new Ultra wideband uh Bluetooth chip for precision finding so if you misplace where your phone or your watch is now um it can direct you um almost as if it had a GPS lock so it can it can know how far away you are uh and then um you can have it turn on you can have it make a chirp uh when uh when you get close enough uh let's see here so it has fall detection crash detection um when you can when your workouts end you can send the notice to your friends to brag that you finished the workout so basically they're they're trying to gamify uh working out to to uh hope hopefully have people work out more and again the recycling pay it off go in and see what the options are so we have the traditional aluminum models uh or the titanium model is $300 more I don't know if I like titanium that much at least it's not as bad as the $10,000 gold watch there was in the in the very beginning and the poor people that bought that it was outdated almost immediately but they they bought it they buy it for fashion rather than for uh function so let's Max it out might as well um available in 42 millimet or 46 millimet oh I got to pick a a color first do I want natural gold or slate let's do natural I'll do the big one rubber textile or Steel so the band $800 for the band so that that can really jump so the phone starts at or the phone the watch starts at 3.99 but by the time you add all the other stuff it can jump up quite a bit so let's do the link bracelet we'll do the natural color there yeah $365 if you turn in and watch nine it's in pristine condition we'll do no trade in so we're going to buy it 1049 so600 for uh the maxed out phone uh 1050 for the maxed out watch you can uh end up spending crap load of money anyone want the uh planning on getting the watch I know Frank you said you were going to get both a phone and a watch anyone else need a new watch I forget what my watch is I take it off does anyone know of a good breathing breathable band my watch I I get sweaty and my watch I got a cloth band now that I thought would would would be good but I need a good breathable band so it doesn't irritate my skin I think I have a five I forget settings so I'm probably doing new well I get I get hand I get hand me- downs from the boss General about oh you're not going to tell me so it's an a2093 a2093 there's a five so I'm only five behind all righty any questions so far so there was a bit of a change in the airpods 4 the regular airpods are now down to 129 they've added a noise cancellation feature that was used to be only available with the pros uh for 179 the stems are a little bit shorter so the first gener first and second um had the had longer stems with bigger batteries in them uh it's got the new H2 chip and one of the demos they showed was someone standing on a windy uh uh Street and apologizing for how loud it was and then they cut to the other end and all the wind noise had been isolated and removed so that's pretty good if it can take out windy windy San Francisco by the bay and they've updated it to usvc now uh across all the U um uh airpods including the new airpods m Max well the old airpods Max now comes with USBC to be the new airpods Max uh buttons buttons [Music] buttons so it has an Adaptive EQ that Tunes the music to fit your ears and one of the neat things uh when you talk so if you're playing music and you start talking the music will pause while you talk so like you can order something uh and then when you stop talking the music starts playing again so no more trying to tap the the the head to uh uh play or pause your music it automatically will do that now and so that's the conversational awareness feature um there's also a transparency mode that lets you hear noise from the outside um or the noise cancellation cancels all noise from the outside so you have three different modes on how much outside noise it lets in so say you're mowing the lawn you you want no noise to get in they uh redesign the the the shape of it again they keep saying about how they they do laser scans of of U thousands of people and generate a a pattern that should fit most of them but there's an old story about the air force measured hundreds of pilots and created the average cockpit that nobody fits in it's too big for small people and too small for big people uh so the four sensor on the back uh does let you um uh control playback and uh and pause calls if you don't have the uh conversation mode turned on uh dust sweat rter resistant charging up to charging faster so it's up to 30 hours of listening time it used to be 24 hours so on each device you get um uh uh up to five hours so if you're doing like you know listening to uh you know a podcast or radio show that doesn't need to be in Stereo um you get five hours out of one then you put that in the charger get five hours out of the second and by then the first one is charged again so you keep swapping them back and forth and you get up to 30 hours of playback time between your two airpods uh again USBC they automatically can switch between devices so one of the complaint that I've heard about and I've run in a little bit myself is if you have too many devices you know I've got a phone a computer uh uh a tablet when you put on your airpods which one does it connect to um and the idea is it connects to the closest one uh they've added the find my built back into it now so if you lose your airpods you can help track them down even when they're out of Bluetooth range if anyone with an iPhone happens to walk by it it will get pinged and it will let you know um Siri features built in so you can ask questions uh same thing here again the new U new is down to 129 and 179 with active noise cancellation so if we compare that against the airpods pro at 249 um you get more active noise cancellation uh you can do hearing tests on the iPad Pro iPad airod Pro too many things with the same name and the airpod pro can be used as a hearing aid coming this fall uh six hours of battery life mag save C uh Siri built in automatic switching between devices so that's that's kind of the biggest thing uh the hearing aid option uh whether that's worth you know the extra $80 or not 50670 now the airpods max $550 did anyone anyone ever buy the airpod max we sold a few of them in our store um but it it's a very hard sale for you know $550 uh for an over-the-ear headset you got to be a real audio file for that uh and Bluetooth doesn't pass that that good an audio signal anyway so Apple had to has had to do some uh fancy um uh um technology to get the Audio Level to work uh in the Bluetooth uh um connection yeah they all have so the airpods airpods max they didn't change except added the USBC charging connection and that's all the same so phone watch and airpods so that's the uh the glowup symbol the older Siri symbol that's now um going to expand into the full wraparound Siri logo if you had haven't had a chance um it's kind of neat to watch the event see how they talk about it they've got it set up now in uh chapters which is kind of interesting I jump over here so you there's different chapters so you can jump see so it was an hour and [Music] 3 Jackie scheduled me an appointment right in the middle of it so I missed seeing it live had to wait for later but part of part of it was there wasn't really anything that new pretty much everything had already been um uh talked about uh the one of one of the big concerns with the iPhone 16 um is the new um capacitance button so let's go to accessories for iPhone so Apple's iPhone 16 accessories uh now in a clear that was one of the the stories for a while you buy a phone in a fancy color and then you put a colored case on it um so no one can see the color of the phone uh but now they have a clear case available and they going to show me the side no um they have a um for the capacitance button the case has an exent uh an extra sapphire crystal uh to pass your capacitance on through to the phone so every other case manufacturer is now going to have to do the similar thing or trying to make a cutout um for uh for that um phone and and it feels like the prices of the cases are are a little lower than they were before um 50 bucks for an apple case is actually pretty cheap now we wondered if they would keep doing fine woven um this may be the last the last fine woven thing left um so fine woven was Apple's new material they they introduced was it last year I think to replace leather uh so that it's vegan friendly uh but it doesn't wear very well at all people were were showing how scratched up it was getting uh within just a few months so it doesn't surprise me that um there aren't that many fine woven things left on the store yeah that's the only one is that fine woven magnetic wallet yep all kinds of colors and fun options available all righty any other questions on anything the new stuff so pre-orders this uh this Friday if you order it soon enough it'll be shipping for next Friday shall we take a break surely and uh run to the bathroom yep that should be fine um let's see it's 8:25 do you want to do 10 minutes make it 835 sure all right we'll be back by 8:35 all right sounds good mostly they been talking about phones what I'm thinking of is the brand new one is coming out oh it's coming out now they not to get well I'm thinking you both got eight and I'll get you a 14 and I'll give myself 16 yeah there is I thinking you got the iPad got the laptop 14 significant upgrade yeah like 400 or 500 something like thater no just one than for for e than than Carl JY mention Charlie oh yes that the for [Applause] what e TR oh I saw your dppo ganger at The JCC the other day just like you that with no beard uh Bob I apologize as I uh had left the meeting tab on my computer uh but I did hear what you said uh I guess we have doubles here and there yeah well I I sat down in a machine next to him and noticed I had to look twice and uh then I I said to Carol separately I said there's this guy over there looks like and I didn't have to say the words she said he looked like Charlie both independently concurred there you go they look like you I just listened to a podcast and it says on average there are five double gangers for every person in the world maybe when I was a school teacher I remember kid coming up to me and asking me if I had uh finished grading that paper and I I looked at him I had no idea who he was and um it happened a couple times this was I was at Monroe High School and I think the guy's name was palmantier but I saw him and he did look like me it was you know not a good or a bad thing it was just a fact you know that we looked alike went to a Teachers Conference and couple teachers came up and started asking me about the wife and and I'm thinking uh who you think I am and you know it's just the way it goes well there say everyone has a doppelganger out there somewhere yep just telling Bob that I heard everybody has five one person saw themselves right who are we missing let see there's a few people that don't have their cameras turned on yet okay well couple more minutes when Wendy Smith it's a new name was that your um no is she there she's logged in oh there she comes hi Wendy Hi how are you I'm trying to figure out this is similar to zoom but not quite the same yeah looks like you've got the wrong camera turned on we're seeing you from the other side of the rout oh really well at least something's coming up yeah oh there I see you now well we may have lost one person because we were up to nine when Wendy was with us and now she is with us and I'm I mean I'm sorry we were at 10 when she joined us and then uh now she's still with us but we're down to nine I'm not sure who's not here no well I only see seven of us I'm sorry I didn't understand what you said Bob I only see seven I see six on one screen and then one additional on the other screen there's four people don't have their camera turned on I'm going from my the list on the left side the oh no we were missing oh Rick Harrison is I don't see him yeah well no I see him in the list he I remember seeing David in the list in on YouTube so he's not ktim makes n yeah Rick is still on the list I the I was looking at pictures not the list I'm assuming iPhone is Kim maybe oh yeah I accidentally got loged logged got out so I just hurried in and I forgot my name actually who I'm not seeing in the list right now is Frank yeah maybe he's the one that dropped out Frank and David Dave Chamberlain was here for a while too yeah oh so we might have hit 11 huh yeah they they were both in let's carolino yesterday I went for a bike ride out in acon New York I was on my way home on a road trip and uh they have a nice uh setup of some asphalt paved uh pads that probably little well on one of the Roots one 10 miles one way but there's an additional uh Spur off that may be another five miles it was a beautiful day it was a nice ride nice and where where is it Acron did you say Acron is west of bavia east of Buffalo okay so it's not not on the canal like other other Trails right it's not on the canal uh and it's a combination of uh efforts from people in actually the Rotary Club in um people in Arron and Clarence New York and I had only known Clarence as the name of a three-way rest um there was a crash there a few years ago the uh oh the [ __ ] was I say sorry um didn't know Clarance it it's it's uh it's it's a New York state route five I'm getting a lot of Kim something coming in from Kim but anyway um New York State 5 which is I believe Main Street in Buffalo Main Street in Williamsville Main Street in Clarence and then kind of does it's not acon is not on Route 5 it's on a route you probably take like the uh Pembroke exit from the throughway and then to get there but they've done a really beautiful job on it nice something to keep in mind I found it on trail link which is one site you can use to find Trails um there's another site called all trails that I am aware of uh have used a very rarely not as much as Trail link but trying to find them and it's really uh it's interesting because uh there are some formal bike paths around the Rochester area but um there are a ton more of them in the Buffalo area um in Northwestern Pennsylvania North Eastern Ohio a few years back I had ridden on the uh I believe it's called the Ohio and eie Canal Trail or something like that which is a strange sounding name to me but the Eerie part was actually uh Lake Eerie and the Ohio part was the Ohio River so that trail in total I believe is about 90 miles um and I rode a small part of it that is in Koga Valley National Park uh which is again you know in the Acron Ohio area um my cousin Charlie my cousin rides the canal uh she didn't do it this year but there's like 400 people that all go together they Park their cars in Buffalo and take a bus to Albany with their bikes and then bike backwards Yeahs wow so that's what about 250 miles or something I guess yeah sounds about right you know but Albany to Buffalo and all along the canal oh yeah yeah yeah that's cool somebody has brought up Trail link apparently I don't know if that's St yeah so I did to search for acon New York and it found all of these y the great Gorge Railway Trail all righty shall we get back started again anyone have any um other Q&A not related to or even related to the phone if they like yes I have a couple of items and I can wait if other people have them yeah I have a couple of questions but I have about four of them so I don't know if this is the appropriate time to ask them I'll go ahead I'll go ahead with my two they won't take long I don't think um the first one involves uh trying to use um airpods with my MacBook and um I don't actually have to because it has a an earphone jack but um when I was trying to do that I would U put the uh airpods in my ears and they connect and so on but they were repeatedly uh muting the volume uh I I didn't understand the phenomenon and got frustrated and said the hell with them and went back to the earphones but every time I I connected with the airpods I had to uh go up to the little uh loudspeaker icon and turn the volume back on yeah I'm seeing several reports about that happening I didn't know whether maybe I restart your phone made a customer this week that that knew about the um turned off turn it back on troubleshooting Stu I guess because she turn she turned the computer off but she didn't turn it back on he turned it off and brought it into us saying it didn't it was all Frozen did I turned it off or nothing well you got to turn it back on again to see if it fixed that's an important step yeah all right well I guess the answer to that one is yeah it happens sometimes and who the heck knows because I'll get to my other question quick like on my iPad Pro vintage 2021 or so is there supposed to be a calend uh yes a calendar on that somewhere because I kind of Googled for information about it and I came up with a help article about how to customize your calendar into different types of calendars and yada yada and so on but nothing about why I just can't find a calendar on the thing um there's two options I'm trying to find a picture of it here there is a there is a calendar that comes built in um you may have accidentally removed it or accidentally hidden it um so what I'm trying to find so it should be um yeah unless you deleted it right yeah so that's kind of what it looks like so if you swipe down from the center of the screen um that does a search and you can type calendar and it will it will find it and if it's in a folder it will tell you what folder it's in this is on the iPad now on the iPad yeah or if you actually did delete it um you can go to the App Store and download it again right but there are all right search there are a bunch of third party calendar that people like as well but I've always found the apple one does everything I needed to don't of a gun thank you I wonder where the he it is when I'm yeah it could be could be off on a page way there's the icon that expands into to I don't know if you'd call them stacked or or whatever but multiple icons per each yeah that's probably a folder is yeah and I'm I'm not seeing it there but at least I know how to use the search now I didn't I had to if I ever knew that I had totally forgotten it now thank you now that it's open it will show up on the right end of the dock and you can drag it over to the left side of the dock to make it stay now when you're talking about a doc you're talking on the iPad right yes um do they have a picture of it here no so let's do iPad doc so similar to the to the to the computer you've got um the icon doc at the bottom of the screen yeah yes yes yes right these are the the frequently the right hand end of it is the L used ones Y and the left side of it is always the same stuff right and and uh yes the calendar does show on there now thank you right and then you can drag it to the left side of the line so it stays there it that's where it showed up actually okay good and it will typically have today's date on it for the longest time it didn't have the date on it until you opened it and then the background processing got enough that they could the basically they launched the app when you booted the computer so it would get today's date okay well thank you we can get to Wendy stuff now I guess sure yep okay great um so my question is I'm running montere 12.6 on my Mac Mini which is a 2018 and I'm going to upgrade to Sonoma this weekend and in the past we always made a super duper image back up before doing an upgrade of two operating systems and just to know that if something didn't work out then I could restore the previous operating system so now from what I've read with apfs splitting the disk into system and user areas is there still a way to make a restorable image pup so in other words we'll super duper copy both the user and system areas and properly restore both both or is there a better way to do this there it is there is I thought there would be the so the the two main programs are super duper and uh carbon copy cloner oh carbon copy cloner um carbon copy cloner went commercial a few years ago super duper is still shareware um if you want to schedule super duper backups uh then um uh that's where you have to pay for uh the ACT super duper but it's only $28 so it's not that not that expensive anyway um and there was something about I remember what you're were saying cloning apfs yeah so in other words now with apfs it splits the system into the dis into system and user areas so is it going to make a restorable restore restorable I get up early so I'm kind of not doing to well right now restorable image backup so NE as well super duper copy both the user and system areas if you tell it to copy the whole Drive yes so you tell it to copy what the whole drive and not not just a single volume okay copy whole drive not just volume but generally speaking you don't well you don't need to copy the system volume because can be reinstalled easily enough um yeah not the system but I thought the image it would have everything and I don't know I'm running time machine but if I ever had to get into time machine I don't know if I know how to find everything well T time machine has two halves you can restore a single lost file or you can restore the entire disc as it was when you backed it up and and you and you do you do a disc restore um uh by either booting The Time Machine volume or uh booting uh internet recovery so that it can load a clean OS on the computer and then it goes to the standard migration assistant to uh restore from your backup um when uh um when you when you have a disaster need need to reinstall everything right I I don't know because from what I read Apple says there's no need to back up the system partition yeah there's no need because you can easily reinstall it some people like to back it up anyway right I guess it's just my old habits yeah um but it's just like what yeah that was one of the reasons they made the uh system partition separate is that um it separates it from the user data so if the system gets corrupted it won't affect your data and vice versa got it so um yeah so having both the super duper clone and a time machine backup is is a good uh um Safeguard in case something goes wrong during the upgrade and do you think I mean I know you don't know but do do you think that it should be a pretty pretty clean upgrade between monter 12.6 and Sonoma generally yes but it can also depend on how many UPG upgrad you've done in the past so so say if the computer started with Lon and you've been doing the upgrades all along sometimes it's easier to do a clean install of the new OS and then restore from your backup oh I didn't think you could do a clean install I thought because I keep getting props that I have to um install somoma from you know my system preferences and I thought I was supposed to not do a clean install but just click on that and do the that's the EAS ways to do the upgrade right and if the upgrade doesn't work then you can use the internet recovery to do a clean install of the OS and then restore from your backup okay and the internet recovery is what uh that Boots the OS over the Internet so that you can install a clean OS on your computer um holding on command R while you boot and there's a couple of extra keys um was it command option R gives you the newest OS the computer will take uh command shift option R gives the original OS the computer originally came with yeah we don't want to do that because I think it's it's prior to mod a so yeah so if something goes wrong then you're saying just Do uh command R Boot and that'll give me the um latest operating system which would be right they started doing that back in the lion days when they stopped including system discs okay because my understanding is because I have the Mac Mini 2018 I can't upgrade any further than somoma anyway well there currently isn't anything to in voma right but aren't they coming out with a new OS in the fall yeah some sequ is coming out let me see what its requirements are Mac squ preview and usually down at the bottom it will have its requirements there we are so Mac Mini 2018 and later so you can run Sequoia oh so I could look at that huh but then I just feel like I'd have more problems so I should better just better stick with a lot of people like staying one version behind in fact we we recommend in general never install the point0 so later this fall um system 15.0 Sequoia will come out excuse me and the adventurers who like to to live on the bleeding edge not right most people we recommend waiting till 1501 if not 1502 to let all all the other people figure out the bugs first right um so I had another question is that is it okay to ask so for now I have time machine on my external drive so right now I'm still running Moder 12.6 until this weekend and um why is it that the external light the drive flashes for long periods of time so like is it indexing because it it'll tell me for example the backup is done at 8 o' and the next backup is 9 and it'll start backing up at 8:30 it just seems it gives me the impression it's always backing up or maybe it's indexing it it backs up every hour from when it started so if it started at 8 the next one will start at 9 but say if it starts at 8 and doesn't finish until 9:05 then it's going to run the nine o'clock backup okay all right see and then the 10 o'clock backup will run next um some some external drives don't go to sleep when they're not being used um maybe that's and generally speaking the spotlight index ignores external uh time machine drives but you can go into the spotlight index yourself um and and manually exclude the time machine Drive Oh I thought there had to be a way to do that exclude time machine because my sharing here window here we go in so in settings oh it's going to look a little different because you're on monay this is the new no you don't need pizza get off of the [Laughter] desk um I can and I can never find where things are because everything moves so I usually just search for what I'm looking for spotlight okay great and then there is a spotlight privacy button at the bottom and drives you do not want indexed will uh you can drag into there but time volumes it's supposed to um um uh exclude by default in fact this is a troubleshooting tip if you're having trouble finding files you know are there put your hard drive in the spotlight index uh uh um uh exclude the exclusion privacy list reboot the computer and then take it out of the spotlight exclusions uh and then it will reindex it again so if you can if you're trying to use the spotlight search and and it's not finding something you know is there doing full reindex can help oh I see because see I was under the impression that time machine only updated recent changes and there'll be periods of times I'm not really changing anything and the drive will still be running but it must be because of what you're telling me right and you may not be changing anything but the system is it's it's writing log files every few minutes okay it's uh you updates your clock every minute so your clock um um save file changes every minute or two uhuh so there's also a program um if I can remember the name of it um to show you what's inside your time machine backup really huh because normally when you go on your time machine hard drive um it will basically show you the entire contents of your computer so it looks like every backup has been um backing up the entire thing but it doesn't Okay uh here we go how to view is this there's a program I used to have that would do it is it time machine time machine viewer time machine editor time machine editor used to let you change when the backup ran but Apple has changed that themselves so you now have the option of once an hour once a day once a week I'm not going to find the name of that program because it's been a while let me see if it's on my computer time time tracker is that is that the name of it machine tracker no yeah see that's a that's a Time tracking tool that's not what I want time machine I know the log will tell you but that's not very human readable oops I got to make that bigger again for that audience we'll get to your question in a second Rick um all righty content display you can view what's know not Time Capsule time machine was it by the same guy that wrote pacifist Char was it Charles [Music] soft yeah that's his only so so it must not be around anymore so pretty much you you keep time machine doing whatever it's doing if it's doing once an hour just let it do that yeah so if so if you don't um do that much work you can change it to once an hour or change it to once a day um or uh what are the options every hour every day every week and I would do that where again yeah in the time machine preferences time machine preferences okay let me bring that window back up again time machine so that's into General and then time machine time machine options and every hour manually so you run it when when you want but we usually don't recommend that because you forget to run it and suddenly it's been a week and you lost an important file yeah yeah yeah every day uh every hour every day or every week okay we know a lot of people especially that do small businesses um will have multiple time machine backup drives and like every Friday they swap drives and put one in a fire safe so just in case that goes wrong in our office we have one that Jackie takes home with her so it's it's even outside the building in case of fire or flood or theft wow you said yeah you you lose your sales database or your customer database that's that would uh could stop your business for quite a bit right some people use their safe deposit box yeah in their bank for the uh drive that way but that's not necessarily fire resistant it's it may be may be secure but uh that's oh this is what I want well it's secure and offsite it's not fire resistant that's yeah there is but then what are the chances that you'd have a fire at the bank and your house at the same time very low well that's the point yeah we have unless you're in California yeah we have had uh several customers we had a rash of customers with uh with house wires we had like five in a month um and a couple of our our business customers use the io safe so it's a basically it's a hard drive safe with a hard drive in it and it's water resistant it's fire uh no sorry waterproof and fireproof so the one of the things people forget about you know fireproof uh uh safe is uh when they're putting the fire out it's it's covered with water so it could be it could be submersed under water for a while um and um the one we usually get is the G G3 so it comes in two terab for a terab or six terabyte and they've got some pretty cute videos of um the uh uh fire the the fire actually consuming it and then they tear it apart the data inside the drive is is um perfectly fine connects USB to your network they also have Nas models um there's a five bay Nas model if you 70 terabytes so if you have a if you have a big um office you have a 70 terabyte uh backup drive for only eight grand that's that's ridiculous how how cheap drives have been have gotten but is it Bash proof so if you bash it I bet it isn't they did have a video where somebody drove over it with a car disaster protection is that what it is yeah I'm thinking if the ceiling falls down it might be a problem that was in one of their videos where the the fire um caused the ceiling to fall down and so they they had to use a back ho to dig all the rubble off of the top of the drive and and still pulled it out of the uh of the fire and everything worked me see if I can find uh IO safe example on uh yeah here we are the iosafe 1019 plus is an expandable fireproof and waterproof network attached storage device 50° for 30 minutes long and Tough Enough To Survive most house or office fires so should disaster happen you'll be able to bring your data and business back to life within minutes but so look at all of the fire material around it keeping the drives intact wow every iosafe 1019 plus includes the DRS data recover res service which helps you get your data back including so a lot of people will will have a second backup copy but how how safe is it oh there's a there was a famous story um was it yeah it was Francis Ford copel I think his house got broken into they stole his computer and his backup Drive sitting right next to it so he went on the radio and said you keep the computer but please give me my backup drives back you know the original script to Godfathers on there I want I I need my original scripts back please did you have another question Wendy or get through them all I think that's it um except I just have one quick thing but this may just be a moderate 12.6 audity when I do searches I have multiple copies of things and um on my different drives and they don't come up I mean the copies come up but the fact that I have copies on different drives you can't see that so do I have to do uh the search on each individual Drive um or in the search window there's a um option to search all drives connected to the computer and let me see if I can uh bring a picture of that up um and you want to make sure that those drives are not in the spotlight privacy oh okay got it that could be it is this it there we go so you can tell it what to search it starts by searching the folder you're in or you can search this entire Mac with all the drives connected so this happened to be they were in the recent folder when they started searching okay and then I have to check that they're not in Spotlight privacy right so click this Mac so it searches the mac Drive and all connected drives okay oops yeah all right thank you very much I really appreciate it sure no problem now you would uh you would come from Bob um Bob ho Saturday group right yeah yeah because I I I asked him all these questions and he said you better come Wednesday yeah all right cool all right Rick uh go ahead what's your question uh on Channel Nine recently they talked about um a huge data breach of all the credit card reporting agencies and uh I went in to check at their um website to see if uh my data had been breached and yes it had but then I had to go into Experian and all the other guys and um did a credit freeze yeah on all those yeah so that hackers couldn't suddenly open up accounts right in my name so there there's the credit agencies especially Experian got breached a couple years ago um uh uh see what day October 2015 they got breached so Credit Agencies have gotten breached uh quite frequently uh the most recent one is from a company called national public da uh data yeah that's it um then it's a company no one's ever heard of but it is a um um basically it's a data Gator they buy data from everyone and sell it to everyone else and um the breach exposed of names Social Security numbers mailing addresses everything needed to steal your identity uh there were three billion records in the in the breach um and pretty much every US taxpayer is in this breach just like the uh the previous experion breaches every US taxpayer is is in the breach um there is a there's a couple of websites there we go NP uh um uh NPD breach uh check where you can put in your name and your state so and whatever state you've lived in so you can go back and find your old stuff let's just find um John Doe in New York born in 1960 and yep here look there there they all are so this website is obscuring their social security number but the the data contains all the Social Security number so the the big news is we didn't know this company existed the data got breached they haven't said how it got breached um uh bad guys started selling the data on the dark web uh and that's when it first uh came to came to light to see that this this breach had happened in the first place but pretty much every US taxpayer is in this except people that paid for the deletion services like delete uh Delete me.com so NPD is a legitimate data broker and if you ask to have your data removed they will remove it um unlike the the illegitimate data Brokers that uh ignore your requests and just keep your data anyway there was a um an episode of security Now where they talked about that uh in quite a bit of detail um I can there it is security now and how far back does it go there we go so from August uh 20th um on uh on on what we know about the breach and and and the reporting on on where they think the breach came from and and who had it originally there there's just so many unanswered questions we that we don't know and we'll probably never know um but everyone's data has been uh compromised so as Rick said the best thing to do is freeze your credit if you're in a position where you're not needing not type credit I'm Type credit not permission if you're in a position where you don't need to um apply for new credit buying a new house new car something like that you can freeze your credit at all the credit reporting agencies which is now free you can freely freeze and unfreeze your credit uh when you want uh they used to charge you to freeze and then charge you again to unfreeze um and so the here from here the um a government gives you links to the top three generally speaking freezing is instant many times if you have an app uh from your bank um you can freeze your credit on that specific uh Bank uh but doing it here at the credit agency uh stops anyone from applying for new credit in your name even you so if you decide you do need to to to get credit for something you'll have to unfreeze your credit for a while uh in order to uh to do that and then freeze it again when you're done I found that doing it on Equifax and Experian was easy but TransUnion was not easy at all yeah and they have bugs in their system I had to end up doing it kind of by phone yeah they um they're required to to to allow you to do it but they're not required to make it easy um I I have a question I have a question about this uh you talked about delet me.com M once data like this has gotten under the dark web can delet me.com do anything about it no I didn't think so thank you so by then it's it's it's already too late you were saying that delet me.com is that a fake website is that what you're saying No this is a service that deletes your information from the internet um and people that were using delet me.com and similar Services their data is not in the NPD breach so NPD was doing things legally and removing people that has to be removed but you have to proactively ask to be removed and now it's too late because your data is in the NPD breach already the only thing that would do is stop for future um incursions into their system but a future future data breach of any new data that you have but your well your social security number doesn't change your address could change your date of birth won't change so it's uh it's um pretty much a matter of your you're screwed it really stinks I think that company should go out of business for being that bad the the interesting thing is there's no penalty for data breach um there there is a there is a legal penalty if you don't disclose that you had a data breach uh but there is currently no penalty for uh data breaches in fact when experion um had their breach um they uh they gained customers IRS gave them like a 10 billion dollar contract to keep track of us taxpayers from the IRS um so the laws have to change to um have some sort of penalty the big biggest thing that happens is your company will often lose face uh and you could you could lose some business but it's uh unlikely that um the company would uh would would go out of business yeah so here's a company that had to pay 25 million pounds because they didn't report they've been breached soon enough oh the Clear View breach that was another bad one they were scraping data from Facebook and um made a huge data uh database uh out of Facebook data that they scraped in violating violation of Facebook's terms terms and conditions but there was nothing to stop that from happening so now they just got file find 30 million Euros so if you if you do something so having a breach is not considered um illegal not reporting your breach is illegal Steve can I ask a question here sure you can take my hand down um the uh the thing that that seems to me to be happening in in major corporate business in general is that more and more corporations are Outsourcing uh various aspects of their operation to other corporations y um and so this simply to me uh increases the uh likelihood that your data will be uh will be taken um the latest thing that I've gotten is notifications from Chase and from Bank of America pushing this pays system p a and this is supposedly I think the deal is that if you do that if you use that system um then when you do business online with another company um the uh pay sends some kind of a verification to the company but does not send your actual credit card number meet pays a convenient way to check out online offered by your bank or credit union pays makes it easy for you to make online purchases without sharing your card with when you use the tap to pay it sends a random credit card number and never gives your real credit card number to the other end that's cool and and that's kind of reassuring because I'm inclined unless they force me to not to get involved with this thing because to me it's just another corporate database to be breached yeah but if you use your existing credit card um uh if F supports it uh or you use Apple pay with your existing credit card then Apple pay does it itself and and then charges your real credit card number but the merchants never get your real credit card number yeah oh that's good thank you let's see what do I call it one time there used to be a company that that was their their whole thing is you they issued one time credit cards so if you like a magazine subscription you get sucked into not you're not realizing it's on auto renew and uh and then so the at the end of the year it renews again and oh then oh you see it on your your credit card bill and go crap I got to cancel that and you never get around to it um yeah this doesn't have what I wanted to I wanted to the security section of Apple pay but that's one of the things it does is uh generates a random onetime um um credit card number for that specific company so it can't ever be used again A lot of times uh when you get a breach um the the company gives you a free year of credit monitoring uh but this so many so many breaches have happened and and so many people have so many years of free credit monitoring many banks and and the Credit Agencies have just started doing credit monitoring for free uh most of the time your credit card will and banks will already do that um I use a uh service called Credit Karma that you can put all your credit cards into it um and then they got bought by into it so that that's a little bit more confidence behind them and so you I get warnings anytime um um a anything is done to my credit and it shows you your credit history with uh with each of the services they have they have they're doing ads now about being able to raise your credit score by helping you U manage your finances okay well I thank you for answering that question Steve sure somebody else just started to ask a question yes Steve I just got recently received a letter from Ticket Master that that they have a d a breach um it only it was it occurred uh in MA May and I just got received this so the letter telling me yeah but I I too watch my credit but they they have worked with some third party um outfit yep a lot of times the breach can happen long ago um and they don't know it until the bad guys start selling the data oh that's true in this case it was a group called shiny hunters and they got information on 500 million Ticket Master companies and so uh yeah so so Ticket Master confirmed in a federal filing so they have to file with the US SEC that they had a breach um and apparently it took them four months to get around to notifying 500 million people imagine the postage 5 to mail out 500 million letters yeah I know yeah yeah I was whatever what's postage now 47 cents that's $235 million okay but yeah so the the disturbing thing is that breaches are so common they're barely reported anymore um because they are so common uh let's see top um so one of the things well one of the things you can do if you're not already on the have I been pwned list this checks to see if your email address has shown up in a breach and typically with email addresses they get passwords so if your password gets out that's one of the reasons you want to use a different password on um every single website you use so when one password gets breached it doesn't affect the other passwords so I did my work address so I've got the longer you've had an email address the longer or the more likely this has been breached how how how does it happen that if somebody gets your email address they like automatically get your password well it depends on the breach so here the Adobe breach they they got all the data that adobe had on me including my email address my password hint my password my usernames um so they have my password for Adobe and the bad guys know that people often reuse passwords so they'll take that password and go try it to Amazon and City Bank and PayPal and and you know everywhere um until they they log they can log into another service yes and it's computers doing it so it's it's it can happen it can test billions of of things at a time but the thing is if I use my email password only for my email yes then how would they get that password your email service would have to be breached to get that they'd have to breach Gmail to get it right and so far knock on wood um Apple and Google and I think I don't think Microsoft is had a data breach they've had other problems their their Excel they had an Excel breach that allowed bad guys to get into government database government email addresses um but that wasn't that was mostly government addresses um but uh yeah Apple and Google haven't had any any reported data breaches and so your your Apple password your Google password are are are are so far safe generally speaking what the S what companies have started doing is adding a two-factor authentication where they send you a text message or some other notification so that even if the bad guy does get your password um they can't log into your account without that second Factor but there are now bad guys exploiting that you get a phone call that says it came from Apple and there's a problem with your computer we need to verify your identity we're going to send you a code tell me what it is so they log into your account you get the code and you give them the code and then they're in so it's it's what the industry is trying to move to is pass Keys which uses the Biometrics on your phone or your computer um to tell the website yes this is Charlie let him log in and that way the other end has no password to lose but we've got 50 years of password inertia that we have to break down before pass keys will come up um you may have started noticing some Services uh asking you to create a pass key Google Google has started doing it Apple has started doing it so when you log into your Google account um on the web page it will ask if you want to create a pass key and it will use your finger fingerprint or face scan to create a biometric U Pass key so that even if someone gets your password they can't log in because they don't have your face so then we're going to start seeing uh people uh copying your face from online but most of the time the the the face ID systems um especially Apple has has worked out uh they use an IR camera so you have to be alive and not just a picture so the heat has to be coming off your face properly uh it uses a 3D uh sensor array so it it can't be a flat piture it has to be um a thre dimensional picture some of Google's uh early face IDs were were uh broken with just a photograph of someone uh all right yeah go ahead Bob yeah I got a little spin on this this isn't a password but I just uh purchased something online and I was surprised to see it's coming from Italy so with the shipping tracking you know it was in Italy and then it had arrived in us and I got an independent email alleging to be from Customs yeah and they said there was a screw up with my ZIP code and it gave me a form to fill out you know that had my name and data you know zip code in it I ignored that and uh you know it's an interesting spin I I speculated that they were fishing but uh not sure what they would have gotten from my ZIP code what they so so this this type of of shipping scam um often um uh in ramps up and increases around holiday times because people are shipping more things what they want um is is to redirect your package so if they can get your tracking number and your ZIP code they log in to say FedEx and say redirect to the package to this new address and since they were able to log in with the tracking number in the zip code um your your your package then goes to them instead of I'm pretty sure I bought it with uh PayPal and they've got my address loaded so it should have my proper zip code anyway y I don't understand but I'm just not going to respond to it it's only a hat for about 20 bucks or something so I ran into a problem um I don't know if I can find one off hand one of the problems you run into especially on on uh Amazon yeah so this this ships from Amazon but it's sold by a third party sometimes you don't notice that it if it ships from the third party instead of shipping from Amazon and then who knows where that third party is and quite often you can't so this third part is in Soul South Korea um and so you you have to be careful where it's shipping from and uh because that will usually give you the shipping um time so since this is coming from Amazon I can get two-day delivery but if it says it might be you know 7 to 10 day delivery um then that could be a um a sign that it's coming from outside the country that's Amazon Amazon so I bought a I bought a toner for my printer once and it came from Georgia um and the the auction was ending and I said oh buy it by now and then I realized it was um uh Georgia in Europe and not Georgia in the US so it took it three weeks to come uh and the package was opened and so it spilled toner all over the inside of the box so that was a very disastrous purchase how much was shipping yeah so that can sometimes be a uh uh a different type of scam where the thing you buy is $10 but it's $50 shipping so you see the purchase price oh $10 I'll buy that and then you don't notice that it's $50 shipping that's a that's a common scam on eBay too um you'll you'll either save an auction or um um uh have it in your watch list or or something like that and you and the auction will end and you'll get a message from the Stellar saying you know I'm sorry you missed out on the auction I have another one uh I'll give it to you for half price and then you don't notice the um you know um extra super expensive shipping on top of it yeah it's photo only scams so you think you're G to get an Xbox 360 or or PlayStation 5 and you don't read very closely that it says photo only and so in this case what was this one somebody paid 180s for a photo of a PlayStation 5 because they didn't read close enough as long as there's people out there there'll be scams it it used to be a lot harder when they physically had to come to your door and claim to um you know clean your roof for 50 bucks and then disappear with your money now now now someone can scam you all the way over the Internet because because you're in your own home and it feels safe you know if someone did come to your door and and offer to sell you something you you'd be a little wary yeah but that's that's a good example Bob it's and and it happens to everyone because it's easy to send out a billion messages from the leaked email lists that the bad guys collect yeah gift cards never pay anything with gift cards gift cards are for gifts there there was a classic one going around where someone said the IRS no yeah the IRS was GNA come and arrest you unless you bought Apple iTunes cards to pay them with it and and um there was a police station that got the phone call and they started recording them and put it on YouTube so the the police officer in uniform say oh really you're going to send the police and arrest us if we don't buy iTunes gift cards how about I just write you a check no no no we want iTunes gift card you and then read the number off the back and then the money's gone before you can say um you what H what happened all righty we're starting to to get a little late here anyone have any other questions I'll set did Shirley come back and her camera's not on oh Shirley's not on oh hey Douglas didn't notice you come in just a few minutes ago I guess just in time for the end sorry we didn't have have time to talk this afternoon but I already had an appointment scheduled sure well I uh appreciated uh when I was in there before you linked up the my iPhone with my computer for talking and uh generally that's been working but not always and um I'm not sure just exactly what triggers the uh the Break um sometimes when I'm um on a phone call I want to do something else with the uh either the computer or the phone to uh like go to a different app on the phone but it drops out so I'm reluctant to do that if I have called somebody in Albany and I've been waiting on the phone for an hour and I talk and then I try to do something and the call disappears so uh I it didn't seem like it was a defect in anything but uh have you encountered this elsewhere not really but I don't use handoff much myself um you do have to have a newer device this is an iPhone 88 yeah so that's five or later um oh 2012 computer or later um probably more memory the more memory the better this is the computer that I bought at uh your store U just a few months ago all right so that's the iMac 24 inch yes yeah make sure handoff is turned on where do I see that which would have to be in your in your settings okay it would have to be on for it to work to begin with well right okay I just clicked on system settings and within that where do I go uh General um okay and then allow handoff at the bottom each device has to be plugged in or plugged in um um logged in to the same um same Apple ID the closest I see is the phrase login items I do not see the word handoff uh yeah this is an older OS where is it on the newer OS um airdrop and handoff oh okay sure yeah yeah with a newer OS it's you can never find where they move things to so it's easiest to search for what you're looking for okay and you want to make sure Bluetooth is on on both devices well it has been uh once it's on it stays on right yeah sign out of iCloud and sign back in again that's kind of drastic but that might work sign sign out of what sign out of iCloud and sign back in again oh oh These are all pretty generic troubleshooting but that may be what what is needed because there's no specific error message if it just stops uhhuh now up at the top it says a laow handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices and that's on uh yeah that's why it's working at all why it stops working is the question and that's difficult to tell without seeing it happen and following the log files when it happens sure well I'm just not sure where to go from here that's set to automatic on my phone and handoff is turned on on my phone yeah making sure you're up your all your devices are up to date yeah sign out sign out and sign back in to iCloud on each device may help and then okay then the general recommendation erase it and start over again but that's uh that's really drastic yeah now um how would I sign out of iCloud go to the Apple ID um setting and hit sign out okay let me see if I bring that up again I do not see the word sign out should be down at the bottom well it says log out log out yeah same thing um am I going to affect anything else because I recently just restarted everything um and there was something I did wrong that I had to reestablish all of my links uh the banking app I had to start all over again for example I don't know what would caused that so uh if I log out what are the consequences are they bad um wor situation is if you have iCloud desktop turned on it turns that off and takes everything out of your desktop and documents and puts it into an archive folder in your home folder no that might that's pretty uh that's pretty annoying so iCloud desktop turns on real good but it it doesn't turn off very well so if I do log out and it has my name there um am I running a risk of having all of my documents archived if you have iCloud desktop syncing turned on and the iCloud setting under iCloud drive I'm not sure if I do it seems logical that's a setting you would have to turn on or answer yes when it asks if you want to turn it on yeah I'm kind of to risk that um I would try try it on your phone first rather than the computer first see if that helps okay so on the phone I do that under settings yep and under Apple under ID under Apple ID yeah oh that's the very top one okay and there should be a at the bottom I think I me I'm looking on mine uh okay if I there and then when I come back in I will not have lost anything well it's going to delete everything um on the cloud from your well it's gonna ask if you want to delete items from the cloud on your phone and then it will ask so I'm not going to automatically delete them right and then when you reboot your phone you can sign back in to I to iCloud okay so Apple ID password um and where it says turn off I just leave that alone so uh don't know wa you type in your password and and then you're turning off Apple ID um uh and signing out of iCloud on that phone okay I just used Touch ID to uh back in but uh under search do I put in my password no you have to know your password I do so where do I put it when you tap sign out it will ask for your password oh huh didn't did not see that did not see that so I touched cancel and it comes back right canel signing out yeah so if I do sign out now then it will ask me for my Apple password right okay so then I see the word password over the blank where it says password required um this is not the same password I used to enter the system in the first place it's it's the it shouldn't be okay so see ah it threw me out I I thought I had to erase that word password so uh okay [Music] okay so now I've entered the password and what do I do with that now tap sign out or turn off or log out whatever it says well I've gone past that page okay so what does it asking for now it says enter the Apple ID password um and then to turn off find my phone I know I don't need that and um it says turn off as another option is that yeah oh [Music] okay verification failed so that means you type the wrong password huh might have been a typo or it could have been the wrong password completely and it's not the password that I used to enter the computer in the first place it shouldn't be but but it could be you have to know what your Apple ID password is well I I I just used an Apple ID password elsewhere and it worked um well I'll try this oh Shirley's back sorry I keep getting thrown out of the computer it's not me I'm not even home tonight I know just suddenly everything freezes and then it says sorry got to restart so I don't know what's going on sounds like you need to have someone look at it yeah does I wonder how soon that'll happen yeah well I think you're back just in time to um close out say goodbye that's what I wondered so yes after you after you sign out of of iCloud turn the phone off wait wait a minute turn it back on and sign back in okay and then see if if that helps with the call dropping well the uh Apple ID failed once again and it asked me if I want to reset the password which I do not so I guess maybe I should just leave it as it is for the time being that yeah so if you if you under the wrong password three times it assumes you forgot and and asks if you want to reset it yeah okay well guess I'll have to deal with that later since you it's almost time to close the meeting yeah I appreciate uh seeing you today and um I U it just seemed like it was a follow through from our having paired the two devices earlier so um it's not pairing it's handoff okay handoff happens only when they're paired right no it's it's not paired at all pairing is a Bluetooth feature oh okay okay okay there's one other big thing I wanted to asked about which no I don't recall um yeah you gotta write them down yeah yeah well okay I'll just write them down and ask when there's another opportunity then s you gonna Bob are you gonna do your Saturday Q&A Saturday Sig what do you call your Saturday thing Bob is green apples green app yeah uh I think Bob might be sleeping his M his mic is muted he's watching something he's watching TV he must have his speakers muted because he's got uh he's watching here he comes hey mob you gon you gonna do green apples Bob you're you're muted hear you hear you yes answer is yes Saturday I'll send out an invite to everybody on my list 3:00 and if you want to get on Bob's list you can send him an okay all right well then did you finish uh up the Apple news or did you jump into the questions and got lost no I finished okay all right all right when I signed in as a user uh I did not see my picture which is fine but I'm just curious about that it's the bottom you have to in the bottom center of the screen there's a camera icon oh where you pick which camera to use ah okay well I did not so that's just as well okay well yeah I cannot attend meetings in person in a bathrobe so this works better yeah I may not be wearing any pants yeah well that's great and that that's fun to try but you run the risk of uh standing up accidentally yeah that's my problem with the phone like I might accidentally drop it or something so I better make sure I look like presentable yeah I move it I forget I move it it's like oops all right well then um I guess we're done yeah so I guess uh um and today is 911 in case anybody hasn't yeah yeah noticed um but next week will be our [Music] um meeting sorry our board meeting so um Steve will uh send will be there he'll be home back from his trip and uh so I guess we're gonna say good night Steve you can close this down whenever yeah I just had one question uh in trying to access this meeting on the new computer I did not have the Zoom app and so I tried to get it and there were several zoom apps and I found one with the icon that I was using on my prior iMac but that didn't work it turns out the best thing is just to find your Apple Cider meeting website and C on that way this is not zoom it wouldn't work in the Zoom app ah okay because there's other organizations that I do Zoom meetings with and I'm just concerned that the new computer may or may not lock me out of those since uh I don't really have the proper Zoom app uh um entered here zoom. us is the website for The Zoom app Zoom yeah the right Zoom app it's got that it's a blue circular icon with a stylized camera Y and my Saturday meeting is on Zoom oh okay well I'll check again further then because I first ended up with a page where I've got to be paying but that's not the case with the zoom I had been using if you want to make your own meetings you have to pay to join to join someone else's meeting you don't have to pay that's what I've been doing and not creating my own meetings so create my own meetings and I don't pay you get 40 minutes right yeah for free yeah so what I have to do is go back to the app store and find not in the app store it's on the zoom website oh so I just type in zoom.com and then find it that way yep excellent well that's very helpful very helpful I would spent a lot of time if you hadn't told me that okay well that's a nice cap for the end end of the meeting then thank you very much you're very welcome okay take care yep okay good night good night everyone night for
