we turn now to the storm battering the South the remnants of hurricane Francine bringing heavy rains and a flash flood threat across the region Ginger is here tracking it all for us ginger good morning hey good morning it's the perfect example of you don't have to have a storm any longer as far as like hurricane or tropical storm but just the leftovers and you're going to see a flash flood threat especially for Birmingham Alabama today through early tomorrow let's focus on what happened though so the good news is no one was killed by this storm so far you have the trees down on houses a lot of Lucky folks you saw that rescue there some of the wind speeds were close to 100 milph just south of H uh New Orleans there you saw and even Memphis had a 58 mph wind gust flood watches are there in place west of Nashville down to uh Huntsville and Birmingham and then there's a pocket over in Jacksonville they've just had a stationary front been hanging out for a long time and they're going to have more of that but look the rainfall rates could be 2 to three Ines per hour with that stationary front today so watch for a significant flash flood risk especially in Central and Northern Alabama we're watching another storm trying to form kind of up the remnants of this by early next week we'll get on it guys we know you will thank you Ginger
