hey what up YouTube uh just wanted to make this video real quick like I guess you can say not instant reaction because I'm kind of recording this the next day um waiting for NFL Sunday to get going so I definitely want to record this as quickly as possible um this is just what I have to say to folks about NIU football um NIU has been getting wins like this I mean you could say the past two decades now like this ain't really new like NIU they call them Boneyard victories Boneyard wins um is every win we get again every win we get against a you know power five I guess now power four but a power five team um win against a ranked team which that one might not necessarily be accurate I don't think it's necessarily against ranked teams because like let's say we play another ranked team in our own conference I don't think that's how they really for the most part Boneyard victories have always essentially been wins against Power five schools Andor Independence so for instance um we've beaten Wisconsin like people don't realize like that but NIU has a wion against Wisconsin and it's history are there plenty of times where NIU has lost to Wisconsin yeah right but that just goes to show it's like this is a team that is beating programs beating schools that on paper it shouldn't happen right we're not playing a video game we're not talking about NCAA we're not talking about college football 25 we're talking about real life we're talking about schools and programs that have millions of dollars um that typically are bringing in four star and F star recruits yearly right somebody put out an image and it showed how many festar recruits Notre Dame had how many fourstar recruits Notre Dame have and then how many three star recruit NIU does not have above a three star recruit we don't have anything above that not that I know of I don't know if we ever have had anybody above a three star at the most I want to say antario brown he has to be one of the highest recruits we've gotten in a hot minute um you got to keep in mind he's a senior now like he has been here the last four years I want to say he got play time as a true freshman he's never red shirted he has played all four years so that dude has to go pro so what y'all saw wasn't a fluke like you have to keep in mind people get Scout reports they know antario Brown is essentially the best player on our team it's that simple besides him and maybe some of our old linemen it's the antario brown show like when Aaron when antario Brown was a freshman like NIU literally like we had a stable of running backs a lot of those dudes transferred out don't know why who knows what was going on this that the third but we had a bunch of running backs on this damn team and then guys left they weren't trying to share the football they were like nah I want to be the guy I want to be the guy and I get it you don't want to be in a room with seven eight running backs trying to get touches so you had guys who transferred out um you got injuries that happen um but anio Brown's the guy Notre Dame had literally one job one name was probably circled on that damn paper anio Brown you also have Harrison Barnes let me not act like Harrison Barnes um or what's about Harrison Barnes I'm tweaking Grayson Barnes um are tight end he's also potential NFL prospect he he's legit um you had two guys to worry about but really one and and it wasn't a fluke that he did what he did NIU like I said I'm just trying to let people know NIU does this like leading up to the game I'm all on Facebook all over the dang place literally like yo do not be surprised if NIU comes out here and competes cuz that's what they do in big games like even if we lose I can promise you it's not going to be like a walkover type situation I think what people did I think people looked at how we did last year right they looked at oh well this team went seven and six right and the seventh win was the bowl game right but we were we won a bowl game I want to say we actually finished that season with what three four wins in a row so I'm like you got to realize like this team got some momentum we're coming off a bowl game win and historically we ain't a good Bowl team like we'll make it to a bowl game but we don't win a lot of times um we coming off a bowl win it was just a up and down season it was like there's games we should have won you know like this team should have did better a little bit better than it did and like they'll probably be the first ones to tell you that they were kind of middle of the road this team now this is it this is a completely you know bought in put together everybody knows what they're doing like that's what the team is now you cannot take a team like that just because they got clapped by Michigan last year and act like they're not capable it was a seven- six win team that also beat Boston College yeah we got killed by Michigan but they also beat Boston College fast forward to now and I mean we don't know what the season is going to completely pan out to be for Boston College but you can say for the most part Boston College has gotten off to a good start so yeah NIU historically beats these teams whenever ni I want to say the bowling yard victory are mainly primarily NIU beating a power five school um or independent and for the most part the schools that classified that would have classified as a Boneyard Victory would have only really been BYU and Notre Dame so we beat BYU when they were still independent so before they were in a big 12 we've beaten we we've beaten BYU we've beaten Notre Dame now so we basically can check off the list of the two Independents that would have qualified NIU has beaten Perdue at least twice within the last 20 something years NIU has beaten uh Kansas twice NIU has [Music] beaten I feel like I'm missing another big one but um like ni I's beat Nebraska NIU has gone into Nebraska and beat Nebraska they beat teams they show up in these big games if you even go back and look historically at the teams look at the games where we were not supposed to win they were competitive it's that simple people should be used to this by now
