Rep. Joe Wilson Is Introduced As A Key Sponsor In H.R. 6114, Also Known As The Maximum Pressure Act

hello Congressman uh my name is Majid solbor I'm the political director for organization of Iranian American communities I'm joined by uh Mrs Sharin niman who is a former political prisoner in Iran and so we uh bring firsthand knowledge of what's going on inside of course to Capitol Hill um chairman Wilson requires no introduction uh he's been a longtime friend of our community has been very um opponent of the Iranian regime for years um and more recently he obviously a main one of the main sponsors of house resolution 6114 maximum pressure act which puts uh not only codifies uh sanctions uh that are existing already on the regime inter Teran but also um introduces additional ones including those on the irgc as you well know uh chairman our community uh has for decades called for comprehensive sanctions on the in Teran we've talked to you about it repeatedly and uh and certainly we were among the first to welcome uh when the United States under leadership of Secretary of State Pompeo first uh pursued the maximum pressure policy yes and uh and certainly after he left office we were honored to host uh secretary Pompeo not once not twice multiple times on on multiple events to to give him a forum uh where and where he expressed the the desire for the for for the United States to reenact the maximum pressure policy uh regardless of who is in the white house so with that said uh we really applaud you for your leadership in introducing this legislation and uh and putting maximum pressure on the Ayatollah in Teran what we wanted to ask you was today to uh kind of give us a little brief on the legislation uh for the community and certainly this community is very strong and wants to be able to find find ways to help gather and Garner bipartisan support for legislation so let us know how we can be of help in in in providing additional support for this legislation here here thank you very much and again ladies and gentlemen [Applause]
