here we go and there's the opening kick of the season this one's going to be down in the end zone for a touch back the broncos offense basically predicted on what this kid can do thing i love about this guy brad is is just the intangibles that he brings to the table we've been seeing this guy make plays over the weeks but the thing that i really recognize is his ability to really lead this football team when things are going well he's patting everybody on the back when things are not going well he's trying to pick him back up and getting him ready to go so not only does he physically have the tools but also i really love the way he approaches the game just a simple draw play there but they picked up some big yards first down 10 to go ball on the 36. maybe a yard on the run by the tailback [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a little bit of happy feet down there on the field let's get the call sometimes what happens on a false start is a lineman will see movement on the other side of the ball and be coaxed in the jumping rope the penalty makes it second and 15. gets it he's in space he's out of bounds right around the 32-yard line a gain of one the offense is trying to get the ball into the hands of the half back here and he did a pretty good job of getting a few yards but the defense was just swarming to the ball right there [Applause] steps out of bounds at the 43. richardson awaiting the return [Applause] [Music] he's tackled 27. the quarterback leads the team out on the field for the first drive they spread the field in the gun with five wide receivers [Applause] and they make the stop the 26-yard line drop back a yard really they just had nowhere to go after the catch five wide [Applause] he makes it to the 28 yard line [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] this guy has that innate ability to get just enough distance from a defender to make a completion possible you don't see it from every receiver but this guy's got it they come out in a five wide set i love the toughness here by this quarterback of sitting in until the last second trying to make a play downfield only to have this defense get to him he's got to do a better job maybe feeling things out a little bit but at least he has the awareness and a toughness to sit in that pocket [Music] on the ground up the middle and they'll get him in the backfield [Applause] it's third down 14 to go ball on the 43-yard line [Applause] zips it to the back tackle made right around the 46-yard line wow a long game but still not enough for the first the offense hurt themselves by digging themselves into a hole on first and second down so the defense didn't really have to put too much thought in how to defend on that third down this one's going to be down in the end zone for a touch back every drive is important in a tie game i look for both sides to come out with some urgency [Applause] yardage situation here second down and one yard [Applause] for a nice game hit second down six yards to go ball on the 35-yard line he makes it to the 48-yard line yes [Applause] hit as he threw and he completes it and down he goes the 42-yard line wonderful play call to convert on third down i'll tell you what he really wanted that first down good determination again from their own 42-yard line it's first down and he has it on the corner and he makes it out to it up the 44-yard line [Applause] yardage and this play is number eight on the drive [Applause] they've obviously found the formula for moving the ball against this defense let's see if any adjustments are made before their backs are really against the wall they're putting together a solid drive here it's first and ten and we're on play number nine and he's taken down around the 38-yard line [Applause] [Music] and this is the tenth play in the drive can't wrap him up they'll bring him down around the 29-yard line it's great when a running attack comes through for the first down like this it makes an offense so much more versatile we've got a first and ten while on the 29-yard line [Applause] and he's tackled right around the 28-yard line we're at the 12th play of the drive throws it to the outside still perfect on the drive [Applause] this guy just continues to impress me every time i watch this team play he seems to come up with big plays and it takes some real accuracy on those deep corner routes so kudos to the quarterback [Music] and he takes on the extra point so a 12 play 79 79-yard drive and a touchdown is a result the score now 7-0 boise state kicked this one off he kicks it off and he got all of that one and it goes into the end zone down for a touchback and while they are behind they know they can knock things up in a heartbeat it's way too early to change your game plan quarterback all by himself in the backfield with five wideouts [Applause] and they've got all their db's in there to match up against the five-wide set [Applause] quick throw out to the receiver incomplete [Music] from their own 39-yard line second down [Music] [Applause] [Music] he makes it to the 42-yard line harvey gets three yards on the play [Applause] very good tackle in space not the greatest pass but a really really good play by the receiver to bail out his quarterback [Music] [Applause] they'll bring him down for a loss on the player [Applause] from midfield second down [Applause] [Applause] he makes it out to maybe the 49-yard line [Applause] and they could really put their opponent in bad field position with a good punt here and he's got to be happy with that pumpkin yeah brad that was nice and now they're looking at a long way to go to even think about a score brad let's see if this offense can maintain the rhythm that they established on that last drive not just putting points on the board but driving the length of the field to be able to eventually put points up i think that's going to be important for them to try to keep that confidence going here on this drive quick after his receiver and they make the stop right around the 24-yard line first and ten ball on the 24. boise state is up by a touchdown [Applause] so they get about four yards from play action [Applause] that's a great tackle at the 31. they need about three yards to get the first down here on third down [Applause] [Music] they go to the ground game gets out to richardson they need to return [Music] booming kick he's to the 40. tackle at the 45-yard line boise state's looking awfully impressive right now on defense but we are in the first quarter yeah this is about a dominant first quarter that we have seen in a long time let's see if they can continue to play this well throughout the rest of the ball game you never like to have to play from behind but a deficit [Applause] touchdown knights [Applause] nicely designed play to the wide receiver and it got him six you said it brad in a good time to call it i tip my hat to the offensive coordinator here's the p-a-t to tie this thing up and he converts the extra point a four-play 55-yard drive and the result seven points we get a tie game at 7-7 central florida yet set to kick this one away sends it sailing downfield this one's going to be down in the end zone for a touch back [Music] you always want to go in the locker room with momentum so as we get closer to halftime i think we'll see more and more attempts [Applause] from their own 30-yard line it's second down he's tackled the 47-yard line [Applause] [Applause] first down 10 yards to go ball on the 47-yard line another catch brought down to 29. [Applause] first down [Music] [Applause] from the 29-yard line first down [Applause] yards he gets out to about the eighth [Applause] it's first down and they'll be looking for six points here quick strike to the back [Applause] that's a nice six yard game here the defense is sitting in man-to-man coverage the quarterback saw the receiver get a small opening and he's able to deliver the ball for a nice game [Applause] this is the eighth play of this drive [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] they'll give this one another try after the flag and on third down too that's when you don't want those kind of things to happen the ball's on the six yard line and we've got third and goal [Applause] fires out quickly it's always tough trying to put the ball out of the defender's reach but where your guy can still come down with it in bounds it takes a lot more precision than it looks boise state could take the lead with this field goal kicks away and the field goal is good even though they gave up the field goal here that defense is feeling pretty good about themselves right now it could just as easily been a touchdown the kicker looks like he's ready to kick this one off and it goes into the end zone down for a touch back with one quarter down i really haven't seen too much separation between these two squads might be neck and neck the whole way [Applause] midfield [Applause] gets to about the 47-yard line [Music] [Applause] he gets out to about a 37-yard line [Applause] quick throw and he tackles him hard past the 36. that play was going nowhere yeah gave a lot of credit to the defense here recognizing pass and swarming to the receiver [Music] [Applause] and he makes it out to about the 34-yard line third down and they need to get it to the 27th [Applause] [Music] [Applause] that's incomplete trying to get to his receivers [Applause] central florida is down three and looking to tie it up it has the distance and he just drilled it from long range they line up to kick this one away nice kick plenty of distance this one's going to be down in the end zone for a touch back this is the point in the game where you don't want to make any mistakes that give the other guys a reason to feel more confident going into halftime he makes it to the 25-yard line it's second and ten ball in the 25. fires it quickly intercepted it looked like the pass was sailing out of reach but he just climbed the ladder and made a spectacular interception [Applause] nice run and he's brought down [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] quick quick [Applause] tackle at the 30-yard line [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] nice [Applause] [Applause] give to the running back and he's going to lose yardage loss of one there for the halfback [Music] [Applause] here's the eighth play of the series [Applause] they'll bring him down around the 13-yard line from the 13-yard line third down [Applause] it's incomplete [Applause] central florida is looking to go up by three he gets it up and it sails through the uprights [Applause] and it goes into the end zone down for a touch back the broncos quarterback turkey has done his job unfortunately there's 22 guys on a team and one guy's doing a great job the other 21 aren't so much yeah it's not going uh the way they had hoped or planned right now you're right the quarterback's doing what he needs to do to be able to move the ball but uh the running backs the wide receivers look at that scoreboard they've got to be really frustrated to think that they're down now they still have time to get back from the game and we'll see if they can adjust their middle mindset quarterback stats are one thing winning the game is what's more important it's so tough to move the ball forward even a five-yard setback can do damage to a drive so the penalty makes it first in 15. here we go nice run up the middle [Applause] nice run to the outside he keeps it on the option and picks up maybe four from their own 29-yard line it's third down [Applause] zips it to the back and he's taken down the 31-yard line [Applause] turn down for what richardson is the deep man awaiting the return richardson and he makes it out to about the 44-yard line momentum swings have been fairly even and with so little separation this game can be drastically changed on just one or two plays central florida is up by three and he throws it away from their own 44-yard line second down he steps up around the 48-yard line [Music] [Applause] 40. got it but he's going to lose your [Applause] ball on the 41. [Applause] he's taken down at the 40-yard line [Applause] that was a good pass and catch there but still not enough for the first down that's not an easy conversion here on third down for the offense all the defense has to do is stay back keep everything in front of them come up and make a tackle flags are all over the place and they'll blow it dead sometimes what happens on a false start as a lineman will see movement on the other side of the ball and be coaxed into jumping early after the penalty snap fourth and five the kick is up and he nails the long fieldwork reese davis joins us in the studio with this update reese the bulldogs came into the game rank seven they're now bungee jumping and the quarters gonna break in the free game david and i thought this was impossible but look what's happened a major upset is now complete the rebels get the win by 16. 16 to 10 in our game here looks like they're ready for the kick and he got all of this one great kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a touch back in a game that's this close you can't afford to waste possessions and he just gets rid of it from their own 25-yard line second down throws into a crowd and this one's going the other way interception and they make the stop at about the 29 yard line big play there by the defense that's their second pick of the half yeah this offense has to stop making mistakes these turnovers are putting pressure on their defense to make stops and it's hard to win when you're always giving the ball away first down ten to go follow 29 central florida with a six-point lead harvey up the gap makes it to the 21. a gain of eight on the carry the knights will use their first time out of the half very good tackle in space so they'll get the first down there on the five yard completion that's just great execution on that short pass play first and ten ball on the 16-yard line the ten tackle made out of the center [Applause] he's under pressure now hit is still completed touchdown that's the second catch for six he's registered today the quarterback knew exactly where to put the pass and the receiver went out there and made the grab good communication there [Music] and he converts the extra yard drive and they come away with a touchdown the score now 23-10 and it looks like they're ready for the kickoff he sends this one deeper [Applause] here's a step in the maturation of a young quarterback how does he respond to throwing an interception on that last drive one general rule in any game is to hold on to the ball if you're in the negative in the turnover department your chances of winning decrease exponentially and he's brought down quickly thomas gaines four yards on that reception hit second down six yards to go all on their own 29. these tackles around the 35-yard line complete for six yards and that's good for a first down short throws like this are very effective because they tend to wear down the defense over the course of a game especially when they get you a first down and keep the offense on the field quick out to his receiver that's the 43. what a play boy solid job there by the quarterback recognizing the defensive coverage and delivering the ball to the open receiver they trying to get a head start there just a middle laps but it's going to cost him five yards so the penalty will make it first in 15. [Applause] as they head to the locker rooms this one is far from over 23-10 knights we've played 30 minutes glad to have you with us on the ea sports ncaa football 14 halftime show presented by nissan innovation that excites david pollock and i here in the studio to break down everything that just happened in your game both these offenses were off the chains in the first half defenses were completely powerless david you know i'm your biggest fan i believe you're going to be a hall of famer someday great defender but every game wasn't perfect i remember a freshman game that you had at georgia against florida gators kind of got it rolling what's that like for defense out there when you feel like they're a step or two or three ahead of you all the time well it's frustrating and a lot of times you don't have the answers i mean you sit there and you try new things and you try the stuff you tried all during the week and nothing works and then you try something else and it doesn't work and sometimes it's just that the better players are on offense and their schemes firing at a new level or a different level than you are and you you can't keep up but you got to find some kind of positive you got to make some kind of big play so you get that coach on the other side maybe throwing his visor a little bit or getting upset like okay we didn't get to do yeah all right all right there big man i got ball plays going to work i can only hope that nestler and herb street will bring the same type of intensity to their call of the second half that david and i have brought to the halftime show of course they always do that's it for us here in the studio time to get you back out to the guys for the second half all right rhys and david welcome back everybody just about set to start the second half he kicks it off and he got all of that one he's to the 20 and he's taken down the 27-yard line the knights are flying through this ball game they have scored 23 unanswered points the guys are chomping at the bit down there waiting for the game to start back up [Applause] pressure coming makes the first down catch and now he goes around the 44-yard line [Applause] he's gonna go for the home sets him up run with the first and goal huge play for both the quarterback and receivers and it all starts with the big fellas up front who provided the time to get the quarterback a chance to throw takes it up the middle for a nice run harvey gets six yards on the board [Applause] he gets rid of this one big play here for both teams it's third and goal from the two [Applause] straight run here and he's got nowhere to go i'm not even sure the ball carrier saw the corner coming for him that happened so fast he never had a chance to make a move it's up and it's good the kicker looks like he's ready to kick this one off he just drills this one this one's gonna be down in the end zone for a touchback the knights continue to get it done on the defensive side of the football kirk yeah they've done a good job of building this lead and almost determined here to protect it let's see if they can hold on here for the rest of the way there's got to be some sense of urgency to this offense right now they don't have the luxury of wasting drives if they want to get back in the game they keep it on the ground with the tailback and he tackles him hard at the 33. [Applause] it's second down and they're about two yards away from the sticks now he tries to buy some time and he's going to come up with a sack [Music] now it's third and six coming up on the 29-yard line they'll bring him down right around the 46-yard line [Applause] from the 46-yard line first down here we go pot with room to work tackles around the 24 yard line nice job of picking up the mike linebacker blitz and hitting his man for the first down [Applause] man up there he goes he's in for the score and they're back in it coach you gotta give each of these guys credit for getting in sync really fighting to create that touchdown [Applause] and he adds the extra point [Music] everyone's all lined up and ready for the kickoff excellent kick he's to the 20 across the third and he has it on the corner and he's jumped out of bounds around the 49 yard line the bronco staff has got a winner on their hands you've been around kids like this they're just fun to be here they're fun to be around i think it's infectious his attitude i think uh throughout this entire offense and really throughout the entire team it's no wonder this team is so competitive with him at the front leading the wall going deep in and out of his hands can't blame him for not hanging on to that pass he got hit pretty hard second down 10 yards to go ball on the 49-yard line [Applause] the quarterback has some room he's at the 30 for the 20. that did more than just put six points on the board it takes a lot of pressure off the offensive coordinator when the man under center can show that he's a dual threat and the quarterback stays on the field as they try for the two-point conversion [Applause] and the running plate fails on the two-point conversion [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] central florida get set to kick this one away he really got a hold of that kick and it goes into the end zone down for a touchback this offense just torched the defense through the air with a great passing attack on their last drive and as long as this quarterback has time to throw and you can guarantee that he'll find the open man got it and brought down immediately [Music] they need about three yards to get the first here on second and he's down down at the 47th [Applause] up the middle second down and six ball on the 43-yard line he's got another one and he's tackled at about the 19-yard line [Applause] from the 19-yard line it's first down that was a nice play anything you can do without being penalized to prevent the offense from moving forward is always a plus from the 22-yard line it's third down [Applause] [Music] and a quick throw touchdown the one thing this quarterback does a nice job of is taking what the defense gives him he's always looking for the open target [Applause] and he takes on the extra point so that's a seven play 74 yard drive and it's good for seven points they line up to kick this one away sends it sailing downfield this one's going to be down in the end zone for a touch back this is my kind of game we're getting a chance to see so many touchdowns i just wonder if this offense could continue the flow that we've seen from the previous three series and offense is back on the field after running the ball very well on their last drive this offensive line really opened up some big gaps for the running back last time central florida holds an eight-point advantage [Applause] he fights forward to about the thirty-three [Music] he's taken down the 44-yard line he rifles it to the left sideline he stays in he gets out to about the 25-yard line [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] they'll line it up again on third down [Applause] touchdown passes first third touchdown of the game what i'm noticing more and more about this guy is he's very patient with the ball and it's resulting in some nice scores just like we've seen today he splits the uprights with the extra point looks like they're ready for the kick nice kick plenty of distance and they can forget about returning this one boise states come out of the locker room after the halftime and they got a whole different approach going here offensively yeah i think the one thing i'm recognizing is just more about the execution i think they're doing a good job of sticking to the fundamentals of the game plan but i think they're doing a better job of executing that game later is back and he's got space and he carries the ball for a nice game [Applause] we've got a second and five ball on the 30. up the middle for a nice game [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he's in trouble and here's a quick troll you know that actually might have been a break for the offense sometimes tip passes can linger in the air and get picked off [Applause] richardson will be the return man [Applause] and down he goes to 28. well they got the result you always want on the last drive let's see if it happens again this quarterback right now is in a ribbon and a lot of that has to do with his preparation you can see right now with the reads that he's being able to make getting the football out of his hands just feeling very very confident in his ability to throw the football against this defense the four-yard line [Applause] six gives him four touchdowns all the hard work he puts in is finally paying off it's been rewarded here today with some pretty good throws leading to some remarkable touchdown so the coach challenges the call and they're going to try to determine if the receiver made the catch inbounds so the referee initially calls it a catch but we'll have a chance to take a second look at it and determine if he really was in bounds when he caught the ball well the side judge was standing right there so i'd be surprised if he missed that call so after some discussion the call on the field is reversed [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he's tackled around the two-yard line [Applause] this should be an easy field goal [Applause] kicks away and it's good the kicker looks like he's ready to kick this one off he just drills this one and it goes into the end zone down for a touch back the defense really shut these guys down the last time they had the ball if they're gonna make a comeback in this game it's gonna have to start now this offense has to get rolled [Applause] nice run and he's brought [Applause] second down and they're gonna need about three yards to pick up first down nothing special here quick pass and a good catch but it keeps the chains moving [Applause] he wants it all touchdown boise state excellent play here by the quarterback making the proper reads and finding his playmaker for the score boy just a great play here brad by the wide receiver and i really think the quarterback did a good job of putting the football where only his receiver could make a play on it and he had the hands there to haul it in for the touchdown they'll go for two in this situation [Applause] 74-yard drive and they get six points on the board after failing the two-point conversion you know brad a lot of times you have to watch practice and watch a seven on seven drill to not see the ball touch the ground but this time they went the entire length of the field the ball never touched the ground great execution by the quarterback in new zealand now what a game it's been for this quarterback kirk well i think this whole offense is really clicking and it's allowing him as a quarterback just to settle in and find his rhythm but i also think a big key to his success today has been the offensive line time and time again they've done a good job of giving him the amount of time he needs back in the pocket to be able to read the defense and then make a throw down field so good job for the big guys up front both teams are well aware that a score on this drive is going to create an almost insurmountable lead this defense has really got to step it up and make a stop and he throws it away it's second and ten ball on the 25-yard line [Applause] [Music] walkway and the defense was ready for it the defense got a great push and blew that play up well behind the line of scrimmage [Applause] and he's hit before it could go anywhere [Applause] it's away and it's a booming punt he's to the 40. he makes it to the 42-yard line [Music] let's find out if the defense has made any adjustments after giving up a touchdown on that last ride [Applause] from their own 37-yard line second down he's going to try and scramble quarterback's going to run it and he's got room to work and he's taken down the 50.
