all right ladies and gentlemen so this is just going to be a rapid fire Big 10 college football preview where I go through all of the schedules yes there are a ton of teams in this conference now with the Pack 12 schools joining but we're just going to look through all the different schedules and really this analytical model here this is the only thing that I use in terms of looking at schedules in depth I know ESPN also has analytics there's other sites but in terms of digestible analytical schedule models this is really the only one you can really look at so taking a look at this projected Big 10 standings you can see there's an expectation that Oregon Ohio State and Penn State will all make the playoff I know Common People are going to say well it's just Oregon and Ohio State a lot of people don't like Penn State but based on the analytics based on how good their defense is going to be and really how good Penn State's defense has been in the past they should be a likely playoff team even if they lose three games and then you've got Michigan kind of as that Fringe playoff team maybe with like a 50/50 chance they're very unpredictable based on the new head coach based on the quarterback situation and then USC is kind of that high ceiling team that could make the playoff but they do have a very tough non-conference schedule after that you've got Iowa it's going to depend on how easy their schedule is we always know they have a good defense Wisconsin I'd be surprised if they made the playoff in this conference Maryland it's extremely unlikely UCLA it's extremely unlikely Nebraska even with the easy schedule we're going to go over that probably starting a true freshman QB they're not going to make the playoff Ruckers they're an improved team over the past few years but they're not going to make the playoff Washington they made it all the way to the national title but they lost a ton and now they're in a much tougher conference Minnesota Illinois Purdue kind of just average teams Northwestern playing at that practice field with their Stadium being built right now Michigan State all the way down to second last I I disagree with that I think Michigan state with the new coach the transfer QB from Oregon State they should be at least better than Northwestern probably also better than Illinois as well and then Indiana right now the worst team in the Big 10 no surprise there so let's quickly run through all of the schedules and really what you're going to want to look at if you see in the top left the win percentage right up there and then you look down you can see it with a team like Oregon there's a lot of dark green so a lot of these games Oregon is expected to win even that week two match up with Boise State people thinking Boise State's going to be a potential playoff team Oregon at home with a 96% chance to win that game's going to be on peacock kind of annoying there even at Oregon state in the Civil War they've got a 90% chance to win at UCLA 89% chance the huge Ohio State game at home right around a 5050 chance they're minus one according to betting odds right now and then the other tough game for them will be at Michigan where they're sitting at a 56% % chance to win that one they will not face Penn State and they will not face USC either they do get Washington at the end of the year that game at Wisconsin might be tough because it's going to be cold but or again with Dylan Gabriel also the transfer QB or or excuse me the transfer receiver Evan Stewart they're going to be really good they invested a ton into this team and I would be shocked if they did not make the playoff they're very likely to make the big 10 championship game people predicting Ohio State Oregon rematch in the Big 10 championship game next we do have Ohio State you can see an extremely easy non-conference schedule three straight games basically almost five straight games where they're guaranteed to win 99% chance 99% chance 99% chance 98% chance at Michigan State boy they really do not like Michigan State and then a 94% chance at home against Iowa it's funny Iowa has the number two defense in the 118th ranked offense but yeah Ohio state is guaranteed to start 5-0 I don't think there's any question about it at Oregon is a game 50/50 going to be really fun probably going to be a 730 game on NBC they get a bye week every team gets a double buy it's going to be a longer season and then they get Nebraska at home Nebraska might be undefeated going into that game we'll see at pennate that's going to be their other tough game we'll see if that's going to be the white out and then they get Purdue at home vers Northwestern Indiana so three straight guaranteed wins basically and then the Rivalry game against Michigan right now they're sitting minus 10 in that game at home against Michigan mainly because Michigan they're unknown they're breaking in the new QB things like that so Ohio State pretty heavy favorites returning basically everyone and also improving their team with Caleb DS with Judkins as well but yeah when it comes to Ohio State I don't want to say it's a like a three- Game season but it really is you got at Oregon at Penn State and verse Michigan that's basically it as long as you go two and one or even one- two in that stretch I don't really see them losing to any other team on this list by the way the week 12 game against Northwestern that's going to be at Wrigley Field so a fun little neutral sight one there next we do have Penn State so taking a look at Penn State's non-conference schedule at West Virginia that's a noon game they're not going to have to play at night I'm sure West yeah West Virginia is pissed about that because West Virginia had to go to Penn State and play at night but they they're at home now in Morgan Town and it's at noon bow and green is a guaranteed win Ken state is a guaranteed win wow they get a buy week week three that that's a tough by week Illinois at home UCLA at home so I would say as long as Penn State gets pass West Virginia they're guaranteed to start one two three I would say they're guaranteed to start 5 and0 you could say maybe UCLA but it's unlikely with UCLA traveling West Coast to East Coast that they're going to be very competitive in that game and then they are at USC very interesting game Penn State at USC right now they're given a 73% chance to win according to the analytics I would probably say about a 60% chance honestly I like USC a lot more than the analytics are letting on there at Wisconsin it gives them an 83% chance I'd probably lower that down to about 70% chance because Wisconsin on the road it's a tough place to play Ohio State at home 43% chance yeah it'll be interesting maybe they'll finally beat Ohio State at home they they've come close multiple times they did beat them back in like 2016 when Ohio state was ranked second and that was the trace murle saquon Barkley team they do also get Washington at home then they go on the road to Purdue Minnesota and then Maryland at home so I would say that's a very easy close to the season you're looking at the win percentage 89% chance 95 89 93 and the big thing with Penn State again they have a very elite defense if you look at the the left-and side and you can see the defensive rankings in 2023 they were fourth 2022 they were 9th 2021 they were eighth even going back further they're pretty much guaranteed to be top 25 defense but this year they're projected to be a top five defense so Penn State should have a very good defense we will have to see on their offense moving on to the next team it is Michigan so Michigan's non-conference schedule is tough because they've got that week two game against Texas which is basically a 5050 game I think that's a no that is a noon game that is big big noon took that game so that's a tough break for Michigan playing you know Texas at noon that's you know the crowd's not going to be great at noon normally better if it's the afternoon or at night Fresno State should be a win but Fresno State's a solid program that that's a good job by Michigan because as long as they beat Fresno State I think Fresno State's going to have a pretty good year where they're going to at least win like nine games and and that's going to look nice on the resume for Michigan as long as they win it they are breaking in a brand new QB the week 2 Texas game is going to be tough with Texas returning ERS all of the talent that they have they've gotten some transfers as well they're going to be a top three or top four AP preseason team in Michigan and it's not going to have the experience that Texas has especially with that being a week 2 game Arkansas State week three Ohio State faced Arkansas State last year I think or was that the year before but that'll be a guaranteed win they get USC at home I'd probably say like a 70% chance they beat USC at home it gives them an 81% chance Minnesota at home so they do start the season with five straight home games wow and then at Washington I would say that's probably going to be a win that's a rematch at the national title but I don't think Washington is going to be that good this year they get a buy week so they get a late first buy then they're at Illinois verse Michigan State in the Rivalry verse Oregon it's going to be a tough game at Indiana that's basically a guaranteed win they get another by we so they're going to have a nice setup going into that Ohio State game they've got two guaranteed wins with a bye-week in between at Indiana bye Northwestern and then at Ohio State so that's a good setup for them with with Michigan they're a fringe playoff team week two is huge because if you look at it if Michigan loses three games I still think they make the playoff this is a 12 team playoff let's remember that so I think as if they can beat Texas you really have some Breathing Room even if you lose at home to USC even if you lose to Oregon at home at Ohio State this does seem like a pretty manageable schedule I'm not going to lie Ian I mean Oregon Ohio State and Texas those are really tough teams but as long as you win one of those games and you make sure you beat USC or you you could even lose all three of those games and you'd still make the playoffs so we will see with Michigan moving on to USC kind of just the high ceiling low floor type team in the Big 10 we're really not too sure on them they always have a great offense a horrible defense but now with Alex Grinch getting fired we will see they get LSU that's the Sunday night game week one at Allegiance Stadium it's a neutral sight game that is a huge game for both of those programs LSU is a fringe playoff team that's a big game because again if we're citing the threshold of three losses you know if you lose only three games and you're in the Big 10 or the SEC you're going to make the playoff that non-conference game is huge Utah stayed at home that's going to be a win you would think at Michigan I think they have a punchers chance chance in that game considering Michigan still going to have a new QB they get Wisconsin at home very winnable at Minnesota is winnable I'm sure they're happy they're facing Minnesota what is that October October and not November imagine if they played in the snow they get Penn State at home that should be a fun game there at the Coliseum at Maryland very winnable the Friday night game against Ruckers yeah that game is starting I think at 11 o'clock Eastern because of the World Series or something and they had to push it back hilarious but obviously it's 8 o'clock Pacific time at Washington then they get a late buy so they have a really early buy and then a late buy Nebraska at home that should be a win at UCLA that's a game you got to win if you're USC with the talent that they have and then another very hard non-conference game Notre Dame they get Notre Dame at home but that is a brutal non-conference schedule with LSU and Notre Dame they Dodge Ohio State they Dodge Oregon but they still have a road game at Michigan and they get Penn State at home that is not an easy schedule for USC moving on to Iowa so Iowa begins with Iowa State or excuse me with Illinois State at home the FCS school then they got Iowa State and Troy both home games you would expect the Iowa State game probably a tossup it's always a low-scoring rivalry type thing I think that game is going to be on CBS and then they're at Minnesota probably a toss up they get their first buy at Ohio State's a loss but then they kind of do have a manageable schedule if you look at the win chance there Washington at home that game is winnable at Michigan state is winnable Northwestern and Wisconsin both at home those are winnable Friday night game at UCLA is winnable Maryland and depress this is a very easy schedule for Iowa wow so so they are dodging a lot of teams here there's no Michigan there's no USC there's no Oregon and they have a very easy non-conference schedule Illinois State Troy although it looks like Troy is supposed to be pretty good this year yeah Troy's ranked 62nd Troy supposed to be better than Michigan State and Northwestern good for Troy uh but I think they're underrating Michigan Michigan State at least a little bit Michigan state has a big roster turnover I think the analytics don't really they can't really account for it but that is a very easy schedule moving on to Wisconsin they begin with Western Michigan so Western Michigan faes Wisconsin and then Ohio State wow they got Western Michigan then an FCS team South Dakota and then Alabama yeah that's the big noon game so that's an 11:00 a.m. Central start time for Wisconsin I think that's a home and home with Alabama that's like the first leg of the home at home but they're only given a 12% chance to beat Alabama you know it's just going to be one of those lower scoring games that Alabama wins like 24 to 17 early season I think that's probably what's going to happen uh then they get a buy early on and then they're at USC probably a loss Purdue at home that's a game you got to win at Ruckers you got to win that game at Northwestern you got to win that game they get Penn State at home then they're at Iowa that's going to be tough they get another by week Oregon at home at Nebraska and Minnesota at home this schedule reeks of six and six maybe five- seven I do not like Wisconsin 2 this is just a tough schedule in my opinion I mean I guess they avoid Ohio State and Michigan but it is a typical Big 10 schedule now with USC Oregon Penn State Alabama is another tough game and then possibly losing another game like on the road at Iowa or on the road at Nebraska so that'll be interesting there Maryland so Maryland replacing Tonga vioa some other players as well yukine at home should be a guaranteed win Michigan State that's a game you got to win at Virginia wow so that's interesting they play Michigan State week two a conference game that early uh Virginia is a game even though it's on the road you got to win FCS Villanova they might start 5-0 Maryland actually might start 5 and know they're favored in all the games I don't know if they'll win all of them how are they only given a 92% chance to beat villain Nova I mean Villanova must be a very good FCS team we got to respect it uh so they actually have oh no there are there are their two by weeks I was looking at week zero and I thought it was a bye then they face I mean they've got another wi they seriously might start six and0 and then they get USC at home imagine Maryland is six and six and0 and they get USC at home they're probably going to be ranked like 20th uh but that Northwestern game is on Friday and then the USC game at Minnesota another bye at Oregon that's going to be tough Ruckers at home Iowa at home and then Penn State on the road that is a very manageable schedule for Maryland very manageable schedule certainly towards the end it gets tougher but uh you could be looking at maybe an eight- win season if they get lucky we will see moving on to UCLA so UCLA coming into this conference it's going to be very tough for them on the road at Hawaii playing at the practice Stadium oh my goodness so they should probably win that game they get a byee traveling back from Hawaii then they get Indiana at home they should start 2 and 0 at LSU randomly on week four yeah that's going to be a lot that's a non-conference game they're probably going to lose Oregon at home at Penn State those are three straight brutal games for UCLA then they get Minnesota at Ruckers by week at Nebraska Iowa backto back Friday games Iowa and Washington Washington on the road and then USC and then Fresno State a non-conference game to end the season a very peculiar schedule for UCLA very strange they start on the road at Hawaii and they finish first Fresno State so I mean I'd imagine they're going to be like a six and six team let's be honest moving on to Nebraska so they've got a very favorable early season schedule utap Colorado obviously that Colorado game is going to be big with Deion Sanders the whole shebang but they are favorites in that game Northern Iowa should be a win they get Illinois on Friday at home at Purdue possible win Rucker at home then they're at Indiana after a byee and then at Ohio State so the first game they are not favorites in would be like their eighth game of the season so they they might seriously start looks like they could start 7-0 going to Columbus and then very likely to lose that game obviously although I think Nebraska will probably at least drop one game before that maybe at Purdue maybe vers Colorado and then they get UCLA at home another bye at USC vers Wisconsin and then at Iowa on Black Friday next you do have Ruckers beginning with Howard and akan very challenging they get a bye week at Virginia Tech I like Virginia Tech a lot this year they're going to lose that game on the road I'm guessing they do have a Friday night game verse Washington that's winnable at Nebraska vers Wisconsin vers UCLA on the road at USC another bye Minnesota at home on the road at Maryland Illinois at home and then at Michigan State I'm honestly I'm trying to get through these teams there's a lot of teams to do uh the next one I'm look more so looking at the non-conference schedules especially of these bottom teams because it's such a it's just a MOS pit when it comes to a lot of these teams in conference many of them are going to go like you know 500 or around there Weber State an FCS School Western Michigan does Western Michigan have three stra I don't know I might be I don't know does Western Michigan face Ohio state Wisconsin and Washington May maybe I got that confused uh then so they have two straight games at home they're guaranteed wins Washington State at home probably another win although that is is a neutral sight game I think that game is at Lumen field home of the Seattle Seahawks they get Northwestern uh in week four they should start 4-0 they've got a very easy schedule and then even on the road at Ruckers is winnable Michigan at home possible you know unlikely they're going to win that game but who knows at Iowa a by week at Indiana verse USC at pennate they get UCLA on a Friday night and then they get another bye at Oregon so they start well I I I think they're probably going to go seven and five when it comes to Washington next you've got Minnesota kind of a an interesting 50-50 game on Thursday night to start the season at home against North Carolina FCS Rhode Island in week two then they get Nevada who's been terrible recently in week three they are verse Iowa in week four on the road at Michigan verse USC at UCLA a by week vers Maryland on the road at Illinois Ruckers they get Penn State at home and then on the road at Wisconsin they're probably going to go 5- seven or 4 and8 let's be honest next we do have Illinois Eastern Michigan on Thursday night guaranteed win to start their season Kansas I like Kansas this year a lot they're going to lose to Kansas even though they're at home remember Kansas faced Illinois last year this is the second leg of the home and home and Kansas crushed Illinois I think Kansas wins again Central Michigan at home that's a win for them so they should be two and one but then it gets back on the road at Nebraska at Penn State verse Purdue verse Michigan at Oregon verse Minnesota verse Michigan State at Ruckers verse Northwestern probably four or five wins there next you do have Purdue they get Indiana State a bye-week in week two Notre tame that's going to be tough for them you know maybe the home atmosphere but very likely a loss that's another non-conference game and then they're at Oregon state that is a tough non-conference schedule on the road at Oregon state they're only given a 25% chance to win there uh verse Nebraska at Wisconsin at Illinois verse Oregon on a Friday maybe an upset alert there for them at home they get a bye verse Northwestern at Ohio State that's a loss versus Penn State that's likely a loss as well at Michigan State at Indiana so the end of the season is a little bit easier but probably another four- win team out of the Big 10 next you do have Northwestern so Northwestern playing Miami of Ohio Duke and Eastern Illinois that's going to be at the soccer field I think wow they're only given a 40% chance to beat Duke even after oh yeah Duke got the Murphy the the the Malik Murphy the transfer QB from Texas after they lost Riley Leonard so we'll see how he does on the road at Washington after three straight home games Indiana at home on the road at Maryland verse Wisconsin on the road at Indian at Iowa Purdue verse Ohio State at Michigan verse Illinois that's a three- win team something around there next you do have Michigan State they get FAU I believe that's a Friday night game they always play on Friday to start the season at Maryland Prairie View A&M at Boston College random non-conference game I mean they could start 4 and0 maybe they lose to Maryland maybe they lose no they should beat Boston cge you would think Ohio State and Oregon back toback those are losses by week they get Iowa then they're at Michigan that's a tough stretch Ohio State Oregon Michigan within like four weeks then you get Indiana at home at Illinois versus Purdue and versus Ruckers there and then finally you do have Indiana so they get Florida International one of the worst teams in college football every single year they're ranked 130th this year it looks like out of 134 Western Illinois they should start 2 and0 then they're at UCLA versus Charlotte what a terrible non-conference schedule that is Jesus they're trying to get wi I mean you got to respect it Charlotte Western Illinois and Florida International it's understandable Florida International the most irrelevant team in FBS you got to feel bad for them they get Maryland after that at Northwestern verse Nebraska verse Washington at MSU vers Michigan at Ohio State vers Purdue it's actually a relatively easy schedule I mean that Purdue game at home is kind of winnable maybe they beat Washington or Nebraska in an upset maybe they beat Maryland or Northwestern and then a very easy non-conference schedule they might win for or five maybe six games even you know with that easy non-conference schedule but guys that is just a preview of The Big 10 here for 2024 that's going to do it for this video make sure you
