sag right good so you nervous are you what about being one point behind the cut off with two races to go no one will be ever as nervous as you interviewing people Bob oh come on I have the natural shakes so it's not nerves no I'm uh I'm good we're uh we're here at Daytona and uh it should be a good weekend you were um outspoken about not being super uh admiring of what Austin Dylan did a couple weeks ago after the race you gave an interview what was your reaction seeing how that kind of went through with nasco's decision then the appeals process especially not only that but as someone who's on the bubble that that affects directly h no one really expected for them to win the appeal so uh I'd be more of a shocker if they did so um Yeah ironic is enough as you're talking about it yeah they just wrecked 22 right there here comes the 11 oh so yeah all good with it what you think when you H the hammer penalty uh I I only know a little bit like I said I'm this week was obviously busy racing Monday Martinville Test Tuesday Wednesday and then flew down here I'm off social media so I just read the headlines and literally do not know the details about it so a lot of points a lot of money I see confidence level com in here in terms of you know your recent success oh only in Florida only in Florida Ming out for H to come in only Florida she was doing a good de oh man I am more excited now to go qualify than ever this has been the best media scram ever is that what you call SC SC scram I like scram yeah uh confidence where you yeah good I mean just hopefully you get some speed we don't know what our car will be for single car so we'll find out here in the next 20 minutes um but yeah just got to manage our race manage the expectations um and just come out with good solid clean day do you wish this was the cut off uh yes and no I mean yes if we have a good race and get the points all right but but then it's also you're good it's also um you know if you do have a bad race I wouldn't say a bad race but you lose a couple points and you still have little more race to make it up so um you know Dayton and Darlington are't two good tracks for us so you just got to keep them keep the flow going when did you bail on the wonderful friendly world of social media uh poking up like I'm done with this yeah done completely so I I literally Bobby you should feel nice you my Google feed my history is just Bob poker's Twitter that's how I get my information so that's the headlines I get um so yeah I was refreshing the hell out of that last Tuesday waiting for that penalty then I had to wait till Wednesday refreshing the hell out of it again um but that's my only only source of media to make it the better head space I'm just just getting oh it's been so nice yeah it's been so nice uh just being caught up in other people's you know lives and just start compare in like man I want like it's just you know aside from the toxic comments you know social media is just a lot at times you know I do miss like the like the photography side of it you know posst and all that stuff um but it's just way better for the mentals so uh YouTube is my best friend what you learn at the test this week you said you were really looking forward to getting tomorrow yeah the test um as much as I love testing uh I'm glad it was close to home but uh we we tried some Tire stuff we we found something uh that will fall off and create wear it's just the timing of it being what a month and a half away or whatever it is uh good years puts them in a spot to produce the right tire that we need for that time so may see something down the road but all in all is a good test um we found some stuff to make our 23 team better uh we think and we hope so we'll just see when the time rolls back around and no them what have you seen that in Tyler reic it surprised to you since he joined the team that you didn't know that this was an area that he was so good in uh I think you know take away Chicago um just been closing out races there was multiple races where he gave away uh say Chicago and Nashville um that he that he gave away or or the team gave away say he he is the 45 gave away and they're just closing out races uh and that's the same thing that's kind of happening for us right now take away Michigan we were just closing out races and we know we're capable of getting the spots in the finishes like that it's just a matter of executing uh so when when everything's firing on all cylinders uh driver crew pit crew then there's no reason why we can't be different multiple times a year so we just got to keep goinging it have you balance one hunting and needing potentially needing stage points versus having not getting mixed up in those and having a car ready at the best yeah it's it's a fine balance right you got to make sure your your car is good enough uh here you can you can make up some spots and you get back up to the front if you decide to flip or not flip so um Michigan is one of those places where passing is at a minimal so we we said if we can unload and have speed and know that we can win the race then we know what our game plan is and we went up and took the lead early in the race and so we knew what our game plan was there so some people will say that was why we crash but that's not it we were doing what we were supposed to do win the race which we were easily capable of doing you were on the tire test but some other guys were testing underbody and transaxle stuff which one of those and maybe the answer is both but which one of those is more important to unlocking the best version of of Martinville is it the underbody transact will shifting or the tire uh I would say shifting I don't know any data from those cars though so I can't get into the Weeds on that um cuz it was me the 8 and the 38 on tires so I have no idea what they even tested on the transaction side um but shifting is is what's ruining the the short track stuff uh and there is a place that the tires don't really fall off so you can kind of go hand in hand um um but sitting there talking with a good guy goodye guys um you know you're like man this really falls off but man if we didn't have any shifting be even a step better so it's like you guys are doing your part but we need the other part to go with it so see what happens and you answered his question you said flip you meant flip the stage right call come on okay all right I was just like I Source information right there um but you have a sick mind I do I do the um the the the right um the right side uh Finn that they've put in like are you concerned or not concerned but like are you wondering like what's it going to do or will it not do much here I'll let you know after the race if I felt anything I doubt it I I don't know what it does for Arrow wise I haven't talked to the team they were told what late Wednesday afternoon and came down this morning and installed them so um yeah I don't I don't have any data on that for a kid who grew up in North Carolina what do you think about having the Allstar race of bman or The Clash of bman I knew that was happening when they announced they bought it I know I'm not the only one in the room that knew that right uh it'll be interesting what's the what's the track size that what's that compared to clash uh about the same really well Clash seems a lot bigger this is Brother smidge but not much gotcha um it's going to be wild that's for sure it's going to be the best uh driver intros for Bubba Wallace that how do you feel the strategy changed you here the last couple years with this car trying to take as little fuel as possible on last stop making it this fuel savings race yeah it's not fun you know what we we all wish we could it's it's not even like this car it's just we've all gotten smart like 10 years ago it's like why don't we just save fuel like oh yeah we could have done that so it's I don't know how you change that I'm not smart enough to get in have my own podcast and get into the the details of it but um it is what it is it's not fun riding around half speed here you know um but you adapt quick if that's going to put you in a spot to win then you adapt and you do it did you run the races the Canon races at the stadium what are your memories of the atmosphere uh getting into a fight with Brett Mett uh when I went to apologize to him um I don't remember the first year I only there once I think so oh just one then I ran there with jgr we finished third or second whatever um it was nuts then you know but like at that point like that was the biggest car I've been in so like that was like the Pinnacle for me and so now like trying to imagine a cup car around there good luck thank you guys do
