🚨 FINAL 49ERS 2024 ROSTER BREAKDOWN 🚨

what's going on 49er fans it is Wednesday August 28th the 49ers have made their final 53 roster decisions they've cut down to 53 I expect a lot of more movement later on today John Lynch speaks I'm gonna have Steph Sanchez on the show as well as Los so give me 17 seconds I'll be right back back to throw Montana steps up throw T 49ers and the 49ers have won the Super Bowl and now your host Ryan Hensley and now your host host ryanan [Music] Hy what's going on everybody we are finally here the regular season is official the 49ers have uh made their cuts down to 53 I expect a lot of action as soon as today adjusting that so what they do is they cut down to their first original 53 because of different reasons and then they adjust they're going to be picking up guys off waivers I would imagine hope hopefully Frank Gore Jr is a guy that I would like to see my phone's ringing got to turn that off U so Frank G Frank Gore Jr is a guy I would like to see the 49ers snatch up we'll see if that actually happens or not I'm just being a hopeful nostalgic 49er fan at this point but I can definitely see he led the NFL preseason in rushing yards for a rookie running back um which is cool man the 49ers probably should have grabbed him but Frank Gore is one of the coaches of the 49ers so that's a guy I'm keeping my eye on hopefully the 4 can snatch him up maybe adjust him for Patrick Taylor I don't know Patrick Taylor looked pretty good that's a guy we didn't get to see much of in the preseason but he was kept on the team um because Elijah Mitchell was uh placed on season injury excuse me season ending IR um so that's one of the guys I'm looking for also Amry Thomas was uh put on the roster I expect him to put him on ir and probably bring back Rock Yen that's another guy I'm looking forward to to seeing uh what they do with uh Steph Sanchez is going to be on the show here in just a moment so looking forward to um getting her on the show as well as my guy Los before we do that I want to give a shout out to everybody in the chat shout out to butter I see you brother uh good morning sir Niner gang podcast John sari says Ryan I love the Legacy pcks me too me too Steph's backstage I'm her on right now what's up Steph what's going on how you doing man I'm I'm good there were there were a few surprises on the 53 man I'm sure we'll get to it but uh I'm I'm good I'm ready to go yeah me too Johnny says smash like uh and and the sub button for me I'd appreciate that very much again we got Steph for 30 minutes then we're going to roll with Los uh for the F last 30 minutes but we got a lot to talk about Niners broke down to the 53 before we get started on that what are the biggest surprises for you Steph for me it was the 49ers keeping just two tight ends and that second tight end being Jake uh tongas I think I was expecting Jake tongas to make the roster I did like kind of think he he was better than Bren Willis I thought they'd keep Bren Willis um but I definitely thought Eric sabert was a te to um and so that's a bit of a surprise not to say that they can't bring saber back but that was definitely one that that kind of shocked me and then also Ambry Thomas uh making the roster I did expect the 49ers to keep Six Corners I did not expect Ambry Thomas to be one of those six so I gave the edge to Rocky sin um and again Yin could still come back you know Ambry Thomas with that broken forearm could end up on the IR list so you know it's it's always possible that they make that switch of course this is just the initial 53 man not the final but definitely some some surprises in the initial and those were some of them for me yeah let's look at these and I do expect you brought up Ambry and Rockin I I feel like Rockin is coming they the Niners guaranteed him a million like one million something and I think Ambry Thomas is going to be headed to the IR I would guess and that they bring back Rocky I would I would imagine that's that happens today that's my best guess you agree with that I don't yeah and and I don't know if there's any um implications regarding the guarantee if he didn't make the in initial 53 because sometimes like you know the way that the contracts are are worded out like you have to make the initial 53 in order to get paid this so maybe they're just trying to avoid certain uh you know charges but yeah I I do expect that to happen as well all right well let's talk about this roster and hopefully we can at least get through the offense with you and I um quarterbacks not big surprises here I think this is what most of us expected I would say we thought you know they just changed the rule where quarterbacks um can't be they can't be emergency quarterbacks elevated off the practice squad they got to be on the 53 man roster so once they announced that change to the rule I think I expected the 49ers to keep three quarterbacks did did you feel the same way yeah I I did as well I think most teams probably going to elect to keep three as well I like what the 49ers social media their Graphics team did here they're like we're not going to put them in any order them by the the order of their number so no one knows what we're thinking for qb2 that is still the case so we don't know um so I guess once week one rolls around whoever they make active after pry I would assume that'd be the qb2 um but they don't have to make that decision quite yet so they're holding their cards close to their chest here and my understanding is they have a two o'clock practice today and then a press conference afterwards I'm sure somebody's going to ask whether or not we get an answer that's a different question question uh but I know someone's going to ask who qb2 is my gut tells me it's got to be Josh dobs if who do you think it's going to be who who do you think deserves it and who do you think it's going to be that's two I think Joshua dobs deserves it I but I've I've been saying throughout this off season that I think the 49ers look for something different in a qb2 and I feel like that aligns more so with Brandon Allen though I I don't think you can ignore what dos brings you the the higher upside of him also being able to extend plays and I don't think Brandon Allen even had any touchdowns in the preseason if I'm not mistaken uh dos had had a few so I I would definitely trust this team with dobs more than Allen should anything happen to pry so I think dobs deserves it for sure do you think that there's any controversy with Allen over morai or do you like what are your thoughts on morai no I didn't think that was too much of a thing like I I see some potential with morai and I get it but I think more so it it was smart for the 49ers to just wave him and and bring him back to the practice squad as I assume they will if he clears waivers um that yeah there's there's no reason to for morai to take up a 503 man spot in my opinion yeah I thought they didn't even need to like it let's say they cut Brandon Allen is someone snatching Brandon Allen off waivers do you think maybe right like he he was a backup for uh Joe Burrow's the Bengals before coming to San Francisco so maybe like there are teams that I think could use um a backup that has been a backup before has that experience like the Vikings um but I I think also like this keeps your options open as far as like trade right like the 49ers Can field some calls uh regarding any any of Dos or Allen and and wait you know decide if they want to do that wait sorry sorry for interrupting but I think I said that wrong actually is Brandon Allen's a veteran so he doesn't even go on W he's a veteran yeah he just gets released and he yeah he would get released yeah he wouldn't go on waivers um but I mean yeah I think there there'd be other teams that would be interested in in him man I I wish they could have made like some you know some deal with Brandon all like hey man we're going to release you so we can put some other players on the 53 and but we'll call you back on the practice squad I don't know I don't know that's just I think that's what they did with other players for sure yeah exactly all right so no big surprises here let's talk about running backs um obviously Jordan Mason Christian mcaffrey Isaac grindle Kyle ju I think the big surprise is Eliza Mitchell going on season ending ir and then rolling with Patrick Taylor Jr what are your thoughts on that I it's like surprising and not surprising at the same time I think it's surprising because he was back at practice from his hamstring injury and the next thing we know he's on IR so like what happened right um yeah I think it's not surprising obviously from given his history of injuries but that's a that's a blow for Elijah Mitchell the team obviously likes him but I I do like Jordan Mason being the unquestioned rb2 here you know like I I think we we've kind of been wanting this to happen for some time now he it's pretty much his so um I expect we see plenty of of Mason and also gendo is going to get mixed in as well because I think with CMC Mason and gendo they each bring something different to the offense and so that's going to make it interesting for for defenses to to try to plan around um so I expect both of those guys to be in the mix with maccaffrey as well yeah and we saw Patrick Taylor play this this preseason a little bit and with the opportunities he was given he did look really good I think Matt breida is another guy that they'll probably if not bring back to the practice squad they'll have him on call um to where they can just pull him off the couch if they need to um so that's another guy to watch um you know the one injury away I don't know if they roll with Jordan Mason and Patrick Taylor and Isaac as your running back so you know Matt breida would be a guy that I would imagine they would reach out to I'm hoping for am I just just being a complete nostalgic Homer hoping for Frank G to be sign to the team I I knew what you were about to say yeah I mean I I think we all would would love that story right and he looked pretty good in the preseason with the bills so I I definitely wouldn't mind that as well yeah and I mean Frank Gore is literally a running back's coach or a scout or something on the on the 49ers and it's like do they just let his son like just go to some other team or not even get signed I mean I think he'll be signed I hope he would be signed to another team Jim Harbaugh is a guy that I think would because he Jim Harbaugh really loves his former players I mean he has three of them as coaches he signed uh Jerry Rice Jr who actually made not Jerry Rice Jr Brendan rice actually made the 53 with the Chargers as a udfa which is great so that's why I predicted that ners or the Chargers would pick up Frank gor J probably won't be the Niners unfortunately but I feel like with his dad sitting right there like come on man you know yeah it's like they probably won't put in a claim for him but if no one puts in a claim for him I could see you know Frank Frank making a call and being like hey you do me solid we'll see right right how dope would that be that' be like uh Lebron and bronny 49ers version and then Kyle juice made the team to everybody's surprise all right let's talk about tight ends this one is a a big surprise for me two tight ends I thought look I want to give the ners some credit you know I criticize them when they deserve to be criticized but I got to give them credit when they deserve credit and I want to give them credit for not worrying about draft Capital invested or roster politics and their decision- making it seems like that was not a factor they cut um Cam latu and Braden Willis you know hopefully or not hopefully but most likely they'll make they'll come back and make the practice squad unless somebody snatches them off waivers they are on rookie contracts so people can take them off W I don't really see that happening so I think they come back but you got to give them credit for not you know it sucks that they're not nailing these draft picks but you got to give them credit for being able to admit that and wave these guys uh for what's best for the team yeah I think um yeah like I said this this was a a surprise to me that they only kept these two as far as you know kind of ripping off the Band-Aid of of draft pass I think they've gotten better at that in the last couple of years just kind of cutting bait with guys that they know don't cut it because like I think you know playing those roster politics games could hurt you in the end right when those players get thrust into opportunity because of injury like it's football it happens right and and those guys not being ready right and then you have to scramble and look for free agents or trades right so I I think you know obviously those drafts were not great some some of the ones that the players that they let go Danny gray I'm sure we'll get to here in a bit latu Willis um and I think admitting those mistakes sooner than later is is the right move here for the 49ers yeah another guy that's kind of surpris was uh Eric sbert I he's another guy so if you look at the 49ers roster two tight ends is not how it's going to finish like that's the first 53 by Design I promise you that they're going to probably bring back they're going to bring back some tight end I would guess sober is one of those guys there there's no way they roll into the season with just two tight ends so this is like a temporary initial 53 type thing I think sober is one of the guys that probably comes back and they might be just watching the way wire and see who's who's been released um but no way they just roll with two tight ends you agree yeah I I do agree with that I was even thinking maybe maybe a trade is is on the horizon or something like that but um yeah they'll definitely bring back some some guys and they'll definitely be looking externally for for someone as well and I guess like Matt mayoko just said that they are bringing back Eric saber to the 53 man um but don't know what the corresponding move is as we assume I think one of the guys that either Amry Thomas or Feliciano probably going on IR yes meso y I was just gonna say that shout out to butter who made me check Twitter and then you're right Matt mayoko just reported so we were correct Eric sober is back to the 53 man roster I love it like when we're you know we're talking about something and it happens live we look smart you know what I mean it's it's not often I get to look smart on this show all right so let's share the wide receiver ones this is the obviously very interesting because of the Brandon nauk situation but they kept seven and I think they would not have kept seven had Brandon iuk been participating in everything and not holding in um Debo Samuel Ronnie Bell we'll talk about that one Brandon nayuk Ricky piol Jawan jenin Chris Conley and Jacob Cowen only surprise here for me and he was one of the borderline guys like if I said to you gotta love what Ronnie Bell shows you in in preseason in these games like his effort in blocking and special teams I think is what kept him around as the seventh wide receiver but if Brandon nauk was here he'd probably be cut too what do you think about the wide receivers yeah and with Belle it could be two things right it could be that what you mentioned with dauk that's definitely a factor but also if he is waved I'm not so sure he ends up back on the the practice squad and I do think Ronnie Bell is someone that they would wish to keep on the practice squad so if they can assure practice squad then yeah I think this is probably the right move if that's what they wanted to do I agree this was a surprise to me as well um but more Assurance than anything and also like he has the special teams experience uh a return experience he's not the greatest right we know that but um who who would you rather have Trent Taylor or Ronnie Bell I think I'd go with the guy that maybe not quite as polished yet Trent Taylor you know what he is um and quite frankly not that good not worth you know having a a roster spot so I think i' I'd give Ronnie Bell The Edge there probably what the 49ers were thinking too yeah I think Ronnie Bell he can be a gunner as well um him and Callen can both be Gunners in a in a punt team um kick off I I think he could play A Part as well Ronnie Bell is very tough for a wide receiver I mean I don't know if you guys saw him but like he was blocking a guy all the way off to the sidelines in the Saints game I believe it was um so he you know good for him for fighting his way through it what do you think of this wide receiver core for the 49ers minus Brandon auk if you take auk off of this what do you think who who's who starts who who starts week one and what do you think of this group I mean if you take Brandon auk out it I suddenly don't feel so great about it obviously with him in there it's it's a very deep very solid and I would say like even proven group of guys and that's including like some of the rookies like and and yeah Rickie piol maybe still a little unproven because we didn't get to see him in the pra in the preseason but what we saw in training camp I think was solid okay now if you take Brandon iuk out who's starting Debo Samuel um Chris Conley would would be the outside guy and I'd also say Jan Jennings that that's your your third yeah but they would assuming that Brandon nauk doesn't play I think either of the rookies are going to get a lot of you know opportunities and and they're going to get a lot of snaps and they'll kind of mix and match some guys based on certain plays I mean Jacob Coen I think is ready to go like he he could play yesterday right and and he looks great so I think they're going to give him some some snaps uh as early as week one yeah and he looks like the designated punt returner if I'm guessing it's Isaac Reno kick returner and Jacob Cen punt returner that's who's going to be our guys at least week one I would imagine that's my best guess yeah it's interesting because Debo not really known for getting open against man he's not to me he's never really been a wide receiver one like 187 says here he's a wide back a weapon one of the best weapons in the NFL but not a true uh ex wide receiver and we don't know if any of these other guys can be that really the best i' I said it earlier in the offseason and people thought I was nuts but I feel like Chris Conley's the real only player on this team that could play X he's not gonna be as good as Brandon auk but he's he can be that guy I think so I think that's that's what they do with with with this lineup connley Debo and then they mix up Jan Jennings in the slot or Cowen in the slot or maybe Ricky piol get some love I think with the Niners they play Such tight formations that they're really you know it doesn't really matter like if you're X or a y or a z with the 49ers offense Kyle can scheme it up U with these tie formations and figure out a way to get you open so I imagine if ba doesn't for some reason play with the 49ers this year you can expect big years from Debo Samuel and um George KD that's why I think George KD might have a good year um all right well let's talk about this the best offensive line in the NFL what do you think what do you think about this doesn't look great without uh without Trent does it doesn't look too hot um yeah I mean we we spoke about Feliciano uh probably destined for IR Trent obviously not on the roster right now because he's on the reserve list um assuming that he is back um you know before week one I feel better other than that I mean your only tackles here are Colton mckivitz and Jaylen more like you only have one so even if Trent is there you only have one backup tackle guy basically which would be Jaylen Moore and Jaylen Moore has played on the right side before but not that much so I'd even be skeptical about that um you got some interior guys who have experience right like Spencer berford as a backup like that's not so bad like because we know he's he has experience as a starter puny absolutely earned the starter position um I'm assuming Aaron banks will be ready for week one because I don't want to see Nick zel out there uh so man yeah I I think uh a lot of question marks a lot of question marks but but no surprise I think we go into every season you know wondering about this offensive line how it's going to hold up how they're going to gel throughout the season they do tend to improve as the season goes on because of the you know just the cohesiveness um of everything but without Trent this is looking I'd be very worried about week one if if Trent doesn't play Let's just say that are you surprised they went with zge and not Kingston I mean I thought I honestly thought they were going to go zakel and Kingston and maybe they bring back Kingston after Feliciano's put to IR I'm not sure but are you surprised by yeah it's possible I so the reason that I think they they went with zakel over Kingston not just because zal has a little bit more experience although he's never like started or anything he plays center as well so like remember when Brendle and Feliciano was hurt before um before Banks got hurt zakel was playing at guard so he was do oh sorry he was he was playing Center um so he he could play both and I think that positional versatility is kind of what gave him the edge here over Kingston yeah he Kingston is the only rookie out of the draft class that didn't make the initial 53 which speaks highly about the draft class I like what I saw from Kingston I haven't seen much that I like from zakel from being real here um so I was a little surprised about that I know it's um you know Brock P's former roommate I don't know if that played a part hopefully not I'm assuming not I won't I won't go down that route um but I'm a little little surprised by that you know Kingston looked great to me nixel looked okay in run blocking but I I was not impressed with his pass blocking so we'll see I tweeted this out I want to get your take on it um I tweeted out that this is the year that Kyle shanan and John Lynch's philosophy towards the offensive line will be proven true or false what do you think about that statement am I wrong what do you think I think as it pertains to tackles especially because like I I think they have invested to the offensive line like they have a lot of guards and like you know they bring in interior guys but tackle is like the one thing they don't care to to invest in it feels like aside from the left side and let's be honest I mean lucking into Trent Williams I say luck in because you're not going to have a third guy that's on the caliber of Joe Staley Trent Williams that third guy is not going to be anywhere close to those so I think they they should have probably been looking for the replacement for Trent you know in in this year's draft they didn't do it uh so it's going to be really hard to plug and place someone in there next year and assume the same type of you know I guess play and obviously you know if they get this done with Trent won't have to worry about it for a couple more years but on top of that that's just the left side they didn't even address the right side there is no direct backup to Colton mckivitz and I hate that because like I think seeing Colton mckivitz and seeing that he's up to his same old tricks like he looks like the same col M kibit from last year I don't think we see any improvements from him um it's concerning that they didn't give him any competition because I think I mean sometimes competition can elevate players and you know it doesn't hurt but they didn't even care to do that for for mckids so that to me is is the concerning thing obviously they like mavit they extended him before the off season even really started so yeah I I I I don't know it's they have they have a a different thought on the offensive line than then we all do and I don't I don't think we'll all ever get it but they're going to stick to it I think and I think we'll find out whether that philosophy they have it's it's Unique from not only us as content creators or the fan base it's Unique from most general managers coaches and philosophies right um they have invested two draft picks over the last two drafts out of the last 17 picks two draft picks both interior guys no outside guys and one of them didn't even make the initial 53 it's a risky way to conduct business especially if you see when you see guys like Kingston balling out for the Chiefs number one uh blocking rating in PFF during the preseason it's a little sketched now I do think uh part of the reason why they probably didn't get more guys that we think of his tackles is because there's a chance they pop Spencer berford uh out as one of those back like Spencer berford might be your backup guard backup tackle um I could see berer possibly getting some run as a backup in in that area um also would love to see I mean this something popped in my head I feel like puny might be out outside of Trent Williams and maybe Aaron puny is your best offens of third best offensive line if he's not the second he's the third best offensive lineman on this team I agree and you know they probably won't mess with it at this point but I could see him being a better right tackle than Colton mckivitz to be real so we'll see what they do I imagine they keep him at at Right Guard um wanted to get an answer to this question don't bother me who was a member shout out to don't bother me thank you for becoming a member says who on the 53 is a p a player that'll be cut to bring in someone else do you see somebody like that yeah I mean not cut but like the we already talked about the guys who probably going to go on IR um both Ambry Thomas and felano I could see Ronnie Bell at some point you know getting the axe uh but maybe they want to wait and and let the dust settle on you know the Chargers for example getting their roster set up before you know they they'd make that move um just so they'd have better chances of getting him to their practice squad um but let's not also count out that the 49ers can bring in guys from from other teams to their 53 if they want to or their practice squad we're here talking about offensive lineman I think offensive line uh some of the guys that got cut could be someone they look at um you know for their depth and and practice squad guys because I mean it doesn't hurt you don't have enough tackles in my opinion so I'd like if they they looked at outside options for for more depth at tackle yeah and I'll save defense for Los who should be on here in just a second but I wanted to the press conference is coming up today yeah uh obviously they're going to talk about the 53 do you think we'll learn anything new about Trent whims and Brandon iuk in that press conference no have we learned anything new like for the last few months no um I'm expecting bunch of word salad and we feel the urgency same thing that's been said for like the last month or two about those guys we're talking we're talking with the represent same same [ __ ] do you think do you look at John Lynch and the job he's done I mean he's the GM right obviously we think Kyle has a lot to do with all of this and they say perog has a lot to do with this but John Lynch by his title is responsible for these transactions the ones between Trent Williams and Brandon auk how are you looking at John Lynch as a GM right now do you blame him for anything has your thoughts on him gone down because of all this or what are your thoughts on John Lynch my sense has grown that I don't think John Lynch has as much involvement in these negotiations as people think and when you see him in these pressers he has frustration and I don't think it's frustration from we can't get this done I think it's frustration from God you like you keep having me go up here and I don't I don't have any updates like what he's he's frustrated that nothing hasn't gotten done either is is my sense cuz like even some of the words he has said I think in in he was on KBR one of the pressers like he was asked why it's taking so long or something like that he's like I couldn't tell you or something like that along those lines right I don't remember the exact quote you might but I was like what do you mean like that that sounds like you don't know what's going on and he he might not right like he he might not know what's going on I also don't think Kyle is involved in in any of that at all sure there's been these reports of like him picking up the phone and you know putting his foot down and saying get this freaking done but I don't I don't know if it's at that point for this and if it has been obviously the 49ers hands are tied a little bit as far as money goes or at least that that's what they they make it seem because they always think ahead right they're not just thinking about 2025 they're thinking about like you know several years from now ahead and sometimes that that has benefited them you know um to their credit but I think in this case like it's hurting them more than anything it's making them very unproductive um in this deal and I have to wonder how much Jetty work um it has to do with you know it taking this long too because it's almost like Jed's like hey prog like just make sure that I don't have to you know pay too many guarantees or anything like that like I don't know just make sure that we win this negotiation I know people have started speculating they don't want to lose the negotiation they want to win it um which I think is all very silly to me but yeah it could be I think there's a lot of moving Parts I think there's a lot of people involved but a lot of people that are kind of behind the curtain yeah agree yeah it's going to be an interesting press conference to say the least uh make sure you guys are subscribed to Steph 49k on YouTube 49ers kept want to get your take on it but let me read them off real quick for the people listening and not watching you got Robert Bill Jr they did this in numeric order by the way Robert Bill junr uh Leonard Floyd Kevin given Sam okanu Jordan Elliott your cheer model Nick Bosa Javon Hargrave Malik Collins what do you think about the the O the dline that they kept catching up with everything uh being out of town uh back in the bay for a few days so who in the heck in blue hell is Sam okua IES me on him is he a tackle uh he's a free agent uh Dean that they picked up and okay so an edge guy yeah I listed four four players yesterday that were surprises to me um one of them was him let me see if I can find the list but yeah he he did have like I think he had at least one sack in uh the preseason game he might have had more but at least one sack in the preseason uh I I'm surprised by it not because he's like I'm not saying he's a bad player just surprised that they went with him um I figured they were gonna go with Bill even though I really didn't see much from Bill I heard Bill had a good practice the other day uh I was hoping they were going to keep Jonathan Garner uh or Garver and but they ended up going with Bill as and Sam OK okanu I don't know if how I'm pronouncing his name correctly Leonard Foyd your cheer gross M and Nick Bosa those are your your outside guys I think the dline is reflective of the whole roster man to be honest it's like very topheavy you know like our starters and and our Playmakers are who they are they stars but the depth and and and the backups are leave a lot to be desired Robert Beal is a is a flash you know should be just a pass R specialist come in on third down you know it's a passing situation cuz he gets demolished in the Run game he just gets completely wiped out so he is what he is uh I think Floyd and gr mat getting banged up you know maybe allowed them maybe to keep you know uh Sam um as far as a backup goes but yeah the dep the depth is concerning man uh we can't have any injuries to any of our our main guys for sure yeah and your cheer girl motos I believe is uh week to week after that last preseason game uh Leonard Floyd is day to day so day today is not as scary but week to week is a little bit more concerning hopefully those guys bounce back because like you said I I actually like the defensive line better this year than last year it's just not as deep as previous Seasons uh like like the addition of Malik Collins and Jordan Elliott as a replacement for Eric Armstead to me has been a good look especially Malik Collins the way he fought off that double team against the Run that's great man I I haven't been impressed with Eric Armstead over the last season or so so I think they actually might be better one guy I just want to see take a step up is Javon Hargrave because he has yet to be the player on the Niners that he was for the Eagles um so I'm hoping he plays better this coming season and obviously Nick Bosa needs a comeback season last year was not a great year for Nick Bosa he did have a ton of pressures but wasn't getting all the way to the quarterback pressures are important but you got to get to the quarterback get those sack numbers if you're like the highest paid defensive in in the NFL so has Collins has Collins uh impressed you more than Elliott has because Elliot kind of came with a little bit more publicity coming out of uh Cleveland um what do you think I honestly haven't seen much from Jordan Elliot I don't even know to be to be 100% honest I did he even play in the preseason I don't know I didn't notice him if he did I'm sure he did but I didn't notice him but I did notice uh cins quite a bit Yeah so so that's dope I'm I'm looking forward to seeing it brother Bob says Ryan and Los always good to see my fan bam get money yes sir thank you but um man I want to can I take a moment to reflect before we move on please just this this coming month or this past month August put me over my like record for an for annual income that the most money I've ever made in my life and at the same time it put me over my mother which uh I love because that was like kind of a goal of mine my when I was growing up I was broke um my mom didn't have any money but when I was like in 10th Grade she got a really good job and got promoted ended up getting a really good job uh when I was like 20 she made a ton of money uh working for Z Gallery actually she was she worked her way up and was like the Vice President of Sales for Z Gallery made a ton of money and it was a couple years ago I'm like Mom how much what's the most money you ever made in a year and she told me and I I said Mom I'm gonna I'm gonna beat you one day and she's like I hope you do son and and uh this month made that official so I don't know brother Bob Super Chat made me think of that just proud of uh of her but I I did it on her shoulder she taught me everything I know man that's yeah back to back to the Niners I'm the perfect gu I'm the perfect guest to do that with obviously because I'm in the business and I understand so hey goals goals are great and and that's a great one to hit man props yeah man and I I feel like I'm just getting started as well um let's talk about linebackers dog I'm so thrilled with Curtis Robinson made his team and that was a big one I was working for what's your immediate reaction when you see this Curtis Robin dff taten Bon D winners Fred Warner dandre camp I am so not thrilled with Flanigan FES making it over my boy Jaylen Graham I'll be honest Flanigan FES is uh uh best friends with Fred Warner so read into that what you will um I I'm a I'm not a big fan of like you know the organization in Shanahan like usually goes the veteran route over the young upside Talent guy and I'm more of a fan of long-term you know I hate the philosophy oh well we're going for a Super Bowl we have to get the veteran in here like go for whoever is more talented F the veteran how did that work with Logan Ryan last year versus Jer Brown you know so I was not a fan of of Flanigan FES making this roster um over um over Jaylen Graham but other than that um looks solid I I'm I'm with you I like Curtis Robinson he's he's worked hard to make himself a better player year after year and I think he turned the corner so happy he made it bethon no brander he was everywhere in uh in uh camp and in the preseason game so other than Flanigan fos um I'm happy with the group Demarcus Dixon I appreciate you man he just shared that Graham uh was signed to the commanders on W of course of course he was that's Adam Peters yeah he he already knew Adam Peters knows you know like I I was impressed with jayen graham last year and excuse me in the training camp in the preseason last year but I'll be real man I didn't see much from him in this preseason I know a lot of people saw him in the training camp but I didn't um so that's fair that's fair yeah I didn't see him now I don't like I'm not a big dff guy because he's just kind of mid and we've already reached his ceiling he's a good special teams guy I think he's just Dependable that's why the ners like him but I hear you man sometimes it's better to go young especially with where the 49ers are at yeah like I feel like they need to start preparing to be younger and and cheaper not the dff cost a lot um but yeah that was interesting when you watch these games dandre Campbell was supposed to be the big pickup the fill in for uh Dr Greenlaw in Dr greenlaw's absence because Dr Greenlaw is G is on the pup that means he'll miss at least the first four games um so so dandre Campbell was supposed to be that filling guy did you like what you saw from Devon Campbell during the preseason yes and no I don't like him in coverage he's slow in coverage and uh that burned Us in the Super Bowl with Orin Burks another veteran um I like him against the run but he doesn't seem like a flexible player that can do both he's a little up there in age so he's a safe pck Ryan I mean that's kind of again the way the organization goes they they go with like the safer they have a resume you know what you're getting from them rather than the young and upside and maybe they don't know the Playbook as much but they have more Talent so not crazy about them but it is what it is and you know honestly to go back to the offense same thing um uh Nick zakel over uh who is it uh Kingston yeah Jared Kingston I like Kingston a little bit more than zakel and zel's buddies with you know who Rock pie so yeah little politics when it comes to the roster yeah I mean in general I think they did a good job avoiding it but I think Nick selge might be the one exception for that like you said man it it I thought Kingston was better I mean shout out to Tatum Bon who was a seventh round draft pick the last pick of the draft this year led the linebackers in tackles throughout the preseason made the squad I mean that's dope the congratulations to him I had a friend who went to Florida who who's an alumni from there when we drafted him he was more excited about Tatum bethon because he's a Niner fan and a Florida alumni he was more excited about Tatum bth than he was Ricky purol he's like Ricky P or reonardo green excuse me reonardo green he's like ronard green he's like ronard Green's cool but Tatum Bon I'm telling you is a guy and I was like really that's interesting so inside Knowledge from a Florida guy interesting yeah yeah he was really big on Ted Bon and look he made it the best story here man uh and obviously D winner speed freaky speed he's got some stuff to learn but I mean hell of an athlete who could end up to me out if I'm looking at these guys he could be a guy that replaces uh green law if they are 49ers are unable to sign him after this year but the best story to me is Curtis Robinson um I I love it man he was I think this is his third or fourth year um and he just on and off the practice squad finally made the roster and he it man he you know I said it all preseason like this dude looks like the best linebacker I'm watching out here right now and shout out to him man he persevered Stanford guy smart guy and super intelligent wanted to be a 49er wanted to play with this linebacker core and made the team good for him yeah he's earned it no doubt yeah man all right let's talk about this was interesting uh this is funny man safeties they got uh my guy damer Lenor in his own little category like they have they have a corner one which we're going to go over here in just a second but then they have the safety slide and then they got a defensive back damor Lenor listed here by himself does that mean that he can play both he's Corner yeah he cornering he's a nickel I guess he could play both I I got a conspiracy I got a like tin foil half thing if you guys want to talk about it uh is this a it's probably not but I just like throwing this [ __ ] out there is this a a way to make dador Lenor cheaper after this offseason because he's not really a corner he's a defensive back kind of like with Debo is not really a wide receiver he's a wide back I just thought it oh yeah that's going to go over well with him in negotiations if they do do that haven't they learned their lesson in negotiations over the last few years yeah I hope I hope not cuz I love absolutely love him breaking uh you guys are break I'm going to trust that you guys are accurate with these things that you're popping in but looks like Rams claim Cody Sher good I I'll be real Cody shreder didn't do anything for me so wasn't a fan of him I'm I'm really I wanted Frank Gore more than I wanted uh gendo gendo to me is just like um he's a he's a a Flash Player like he me has all the measurable size speed and everything like that maybe uh good at the at the combine type of player but Frank G to me is a football player I mean the Bloodlines his vision is ridiculous he sees the tiniest hole and hits it so man I hope he makes it over here where he belongs yeah I me and here's the big news Huff was uh I thought Huff was a good chance he's gonna be put on pup but they didn't they took him off pup put him on the 53 I think like so with hufanga that doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna play week one like that he could be a healthy scratch for week one and week two and they could pop him in and week three whenever he's ready to go so don't think just because jier is not on the pup and he's on the roster that he's going to play week one I would I'd actually be surprised if he does to be real yeah well I tell you DeMarcus just said Kingston to the Panthers so a lot of the guys we like are not coming back yeah Kingston to the Panthers wow that's crazy because it's a it's a draft pick yeah right yeah yeah and the two tight ends they drafted last year latou another another third round bus by the ners and then Willis who I was hoping would would make it so yeah they're they're missing on a lot of picks here um that are going to other teams yeah the Kingston one kind of sucks because I feel like he looked better to me than zakel so that is a Stocker and you know ners need as many offensive linemen as they can get at this point so losing him definitely sucks wac to the Colts that's wow it's like just steamrolling right now uh I like wac more than I like Amry Thomas um again yeah that's the thing it's like the Amry Thomas one that is the thing that kind of blows my mind a little bit uh obviously I think they're going to put him on IR right now and they're going to bring in another corner I was thinking it was going to be WME but it's probably actually I was think it's gonna be Rocky I imagine this Rocky sin uh he's a veteran he can choose where he wants to go the Niners probably already have that dialed up so I think what they're going to do is put Ambry on ir and Rocky sin will sign back with the ners but yeah unfortunate about about wac um you know who I'm curious about is morai let me know if someone snatches morai um to their roster the way the patterns going probably yeah but back to what we were saying huanga activate out the put doesn't mean he's going to play week one or even week two uh I actually don't expect him to play week one I'd be surprised but they do have Jer Brown George Odum I imagine that's gonna be starting safeties for week one J Brown George Odum and then my one of my favorite uh draft picks Malik Mustafa I think he is gonna be a great player I expect him to be like the leading tackler uh if it's not if it's not odm it could be Malik Mustafa as far as the leading tackler on special teams that's he'll play it safe with Odum as the starting safety over Mustafa won't they we one yeah I think so yeah for sure yeah yeah so that's looks like it's going to be the case these are your safeties and your defensive back all by himself for some reason um this is the cornerback situation charas Ward Amry Thomas we talked about Isaac edum who looks good Dell lutter Jr who I'm very happy for um to see him earn the spot after being injured last year and then uh reonardo green you really just need to put demo on this list too this is not really a true list but I like I said I think they're gonna I Ambry Thomas so it's really going to be charvarius Ward Isaac Edom derell l Jr ronard green and probably my best guess is Rocky sin I I think that's who they're going to pull back once they put Ambry what do you think about this Corner Room similar to the linebacker group I love it except for one guy Ambry Thomas sticks out like a sore thumb on there just not a fan of him whether he's hurt or completely healthy not a fan at all I think he's had more than enough chances to prove himself and he hasn't for the most part he had one little Flash in 21 towards the end and in the playoffs but other than that he has just not played well so I'm not seeing what they're seeing but uh again for the most part very probably the strength of the team the secondary in my opinion yeah I think I think that's probably true I mean I do like to dine the starters but not there's no depth there um running back running back looks great running back might be the I think it's a tie between the running backs and the defensive backs that's probably how I see the strength of the team right now yeah um all right man and then the most important the most important guys tab Pepper made the squad Jake Moody Mitch wisnowski that must they they released uh uh Presley Harvin so I imagine that means Mitch rowski is feeling better that pter might get picked up by somebody he did well in the preseason he had a knack for knocking it in inside the 20 he'd be cheaper than W wisnowski for salary cap purposes but again he's the sure thing he's the known thing he's the veteran so no complaints there he's good he's a good punter all right so overall that's the squad man what do you think of what the 49ers did overall overall they did a good job U you know they're they're a stack talented team so it's hard to make this roster um whether a young guy or a veteran um my whole personal thing is when you have those tough choices and it's between a young guy with upside um over a veteran that's maybe on the downside of his career I always like going with the younger guy with more Talent so you know we've talked about a few cases and I think maybe there's one or two more where they chose um the veteran Brandon Allen's brayan Brandon Allen is another one a quarterback I probably like the upside of morai he will get picked up more than likely than Allen so other than that they did a solid job I'd give them a beat um definitely won't give him an a uh I give him an a if they had went with the young guys instead but um it's a solid roster make another run for this yeah what do you think about the that this press conference is coming up is there anything you looking to hear that we're actually going to hear on or what do you think we get from this press conference John Lynch Kon speaking today about the roster moves Etc obviously they're going to be asked about Trent Williams Brandon auk what do you think is going on with that situation what do you think we can expect in this press conference anything good oh yeah I was going to say they're probably going to get their usual amount of questions on auk and and Trent probably deflect them they're tired of answering questions about them today should be questions about the moves and why they chose who they chose so I would love somebody to ask them about what we just discussed why you went this way with this guy over over a younger guy and hear what they have to say um but yeah um there's going to still be the majority of the questions are going to be on Trent and they're going to be on IU because that's just the black cloud that's been over over the Niners all training camp unfortunately it's just such a huge distraction I know everybody's sick about talking about it to be honest you know one thing that I've been noticing is that which I don't like I don't understand it it seems like right everyone loves Brandon iuk last year everyone loves Trent Williams we should all acknowledge he's a Hall of Fame left tackle everyone loves those guys but now all of a sudden you see some not all you see some Niner fans turning on Trent Williams Trent Williams is overrated all of a sudden Rand iuk is not that good all of a sudden I find that very interesting because I feel like they wouldn't be saying these things if they weren't going through these contract negotiations for sure yeah I I try not to ever be that guy like I my opinion of Brandon auk as a player is the same as it was last year my opinion of Trent Williams is the same as it was last year their contract situations hold no weight uh on my opinion of them as players at all and I it's something it's kind of ugly to me even even when players go to other teams um you see that like like a player's you know free agent goes to another team all of a sudden he's trash but he wasn't trash when he was on your team but now he's trash because he's on another team I think it's just a very homistic approach to viewing these guys 49er fans are very frustrated very edgy obviously because as close as we've come to winning that six Lombardi in the last four to five years so when when you have your star players your best players that are holding out and not only holding out or in Brandon uh UK's case holding in um the way they're going about it I think is what's putting fans over the edge I mean there's some people that hold out in a very quiet way they don't say nothing everybody has different personalities I get it some people love social media and that's kind of the way to use it to leverage and get more money and others don't use social media and just stay quiet and they wait until they get their money so I think fans are just on the edge because this team is so close and you know Trent and iuk are just major major components and if they're not here it's going to be really challenging um it's going to be challenging with them um to be honest but you know they have a much better chance with them than without them so Niner fans are just on edge because of this whole situation and they're tired of the distraction and yeah emotions are starting to come out where they're starting to say some things and and take some shots personal no doubt all right last question man uh Kyle Brandt put put this out this is according to AI shats NFL some analytics predicted that the 49ers 2020 or excuse me that the 202 2025 Super Bowl is going to be ners versus Ravens with the ners winning that's According to some analytics are you buying it no no why not yeah I I I I have to be honest I I I've got to be true to myself I I can't be a hypocrite and all of a sudden just Spin and you know switch it up i' I've had Detroit passing the ners this year to get to the Super Bowl and I hope I'm wrong man I hope to I'm wrong I hope I get all the [ __ ] coming February next year but I just think the Niners had their shot last year I think the distractions of the hold outs I think more miles on the tires of our best players um Super Bowl hangovers are absolutely real um there's a lot going against if the ners win the Super Bowl this year and I'm not no young man if the ners win the Super Bowl this year this will be one of the biggest Fus for adversities I've ever seen in any sport in any team because they have so many things going against them and if they're to somehow pull it out and win it that would be an amazing amazing accomplishment um so my gut tells me they're not and again I hope I'm wrong yeah man I'd love to be I would love for that to be that every year I go into the season My Hope Is that the 49ers win the Super Bowl every single season that's my hope I'm a ners fan so that's what I'm hoping for but if I take off my ners hat and I think about I think about it without my niners fandom in a way uh my prediction before the season and right now I'm still going to go on the limb and say that uh I think it's Lions versus Texans Texans win the thing that's my prediction I'm with when the Tex I'm kind of hoping that it's them and not the Chiefs but I could honestly the Chiefs seem like they got better this uh coming this past offseason which is a scary thing um I will say if the Niners do make it back to the Bowl their chances of winning it go up quite a bit if Kansas City's not there they just quite frankly have the ners number Reed has Reed and Spagnola just have Shanahan's number and he has not been able to adapt to what they do um and counter so if Baltimore gets in if if your team Houston gets in anybody else I like the Niners chances if they do in fact make it themselves a lot more Casey is a big mental hurdle to overcome I hate to say it man I don't even know who the GM is over there but he seems like he's got his [ __ ] together better too so it seems like they got a better head coach better quarterback better GM uh not that the ners I mean Niners are great they're at the top of the NFL they're one of the best but the best is is the Chiefs so far based on what they've done the moves they made in the offseason the people they drafted they just look to be better and that's a scary thing so I'm hoping that Deo who I like can surl the Chiefs and knock them out of the out of uh the Super Bowl contention this coming season so I would not be surprised if the Chiefs make it back but my my bold prediction is Texans and lions with the Texans winning now I will say this you know I every year I hope that the Niners win the Super Bowl and um it seems a little rough right now The Vibes are off right now it's a little shaky right now Brandon iuk Trent Williams not in there right now and they because of that it's very likely they have a slow start but we've seen this team before turn that all around and so you know it seems like the kind of year if they're going to make a run they might start off slow but they hopefully they get their [ __ ] together to get their Vibes right and they can go on a run and as long as you're healthy and playing your best football when the pre the postseason arrives you got a chance so I'm not going to say the ners don't have a chance at all that's that's for sure at the end of the day I think the number one thing that I I feel that's going to keep them from winning the Super Bowl is again o line I just think Center and right tackle are just two massive holes and it's not going to show up against weaker teams and the fan base is going to be all excited when they you know put up 30 or 40 on a weaker defensive team but when they play those strong defensive fronts and the Jets have one um they're going to struggle at right tackle and Center those guys are just quite frankly they get pushed around let me ask you something because this is something that kind of bothers me a little bit or doesn't bother me but I I just question you know how you can make a mid-season trade like they did for Emanuel Sanders Sanders plug in a guy and uh you know that was a kind of a weakness of the team came in helped the team if they do struggle at right tackle and Center like we think I keep hearing that it's not really realistic to trade for offensive lineman why a trade is a trade for any player somebody please tell me why because I keep hearing that over and over but they don't elaborate on it like what the reason is that another team won't give up a player I mean if they're out of it they're not in contention and you offer them a pretty good draft pick for a solid Center or solid right tackle to replace our weaknesses why is that so difficult mid season I think the reason is it's not it's not that the the real I I think what the reason is is when you're an offensive lineman is especially on the 49ers that's a very intricate detailed off cohesive from a scheme standpoint like understanding what Kyle wants you to do it as a Blocker in the outside Zone and and all the pass protection like that's very complex whereas like a receiver if you know the rout tree you can go to any team and run the route tree right like if you're a defensive back you know if you can do man's own you can go anywhere and and and and and do that but with like an offensive line it's almost like a quarterback understanding exactly all your blocking assignments it's it can be pretty complex so um I think that's why you don't see that as much it that that being an offens alignment particularly on the 49ers requires uh a lot of mental understanding and comprehension of of what they're trying to accomplish I think that's the bigger problem more than anything that is a solid answer and that's why you're the host and I'm not I appreciate that's a good answer though that that that does make sense it is a complex system on the whole line yeah um well hell man I'm GNA I'm going to be honest here man uh I am I got 180 people watching Los your numbers are higher but what I'm thrilled about is the reason why we only have 180 today is because Grant con is live at the same time and I hate streaming at the same time as Grant but what I want to tell you guys is for the 180 that chose to watch this show thank you
