welcome to double sleeve reviews this is a series of videos where we review accessory products for trading card games and decide if we think they are worth buying and subsequently stocking on our website in this episode we'll be taking a look at old pros latest outer sleeve the eclipsed debt protectors when reviewing sleeves will break them down into five categories toughness shuffle ability soil clarity and appearance double sleeving and price starting with toughness we have a one fingered stretch test a two finger stretch test and a card capacity test for the finger tests these sleeves were able to withstand a decent level of pressure with one finger but were fairly easily split with two fingers showing the seen glue or heat sealing was not quite perfect saying this it was quite a strong display and the force applied to them in these tests should be way above anything you had experienced in day to day play no matter how to draw F&M gets similarly you can see that even with 12 cards in total the seams show no size of splitting another strong showing we rate this a perfect 10 out of 10 for toughness the shuffle ability test sees me shuffle single and double sleeved cars for a few minutes at a time roughly to see if the harsh treatment would cause splitting or fraying weekly get a good sense of how nice the sleeves are to shuffle for that time in this test not only did the sleeves show no sign of wear but the shuffle feel was pleasing and there was no strong friction getting in the way which is always preferable therefore we give the sleeves an excellent 8 out of 10 for shuffle ability unsurprisingly there are no apace IT issues with the black eclipsed sleeves however this does not mean that the lighter variants of the eclipse sleeves would hold the same benefit anyone serious about tournament grade opacity we recommend a dark outer sleeve such as this one as for the foil clarity test we have four cards show one foil card on sleeved one foil card sleeved in a KMC perfect fit inner sleeve one foil card sleeved in just the Eclipse sleeve and one foil card double sleep in a KMC inner and an Eclipse outer as you can see the naked foil shows a strong rainbow reflection catching the light from maximum impact as we move down the line you'll see the foiling decrease in clarity until we get to the eclipsed sleeve which shows a considerable muting of the foiling when shown with the card 1/2 in the sleeve you can instantly see the difference we give this a week 3 a 10 now onto the double sleeving test with double sleeving the inner sleeve card should not be difficult to insert into the outer sleeve yet needs to be snug enough to protect it from the liquids and in the case of foils from air itself the Eclipse sleeve excel at both and the double sleeve cards look centered and protected more than adequate for any doubles leader we give this an ar-10 lastly on our list is price for this review we'll be using our own price of 6 pound 95 for a pack of 100 sleeves it's worth noting that these sleeves are widely available from most retailers and whilst we endeavor to keep our reviews completely neutral we encourage you to do your own research on price having said that with sleeves costing between 5 and 10 pounds generally anything under 5 pounds scores a perfect 10 between 5 and 6 pounds is a 9 6 to 7 is an A and so on and so forth anything over 10 pounds is a 3 therefore the price of these sleeves scores an excellent 8 out of 10 so to summarize for toughness even with the seams giving way after a considerable force there is no requirement for a stronger sleeve therefore a perfect 10 out of 10 for shuffle ability lovely feel and no splitting not the best feeling sleeves on the market but a solid AR 10 for foil clarity this is where the Eclipse sleeves lose serious marks if you collect trading cards for the shiny foil e finish look elsewhere many better options out there 3 out of 10 for double sleeving we have no complaints definitely a decent performance not perfect and a few sleeves took a few attempts but a worthy AR 10 for price these sleeves are 8 out of 10 in our rating system this gives the ultra pro eclipse sleeves an overall score of 7 point 4 out of 10 of course the process of buying any product differs depending on your own needs and preferences these sleeves come in a wide range of colors and score highly in all categories other than foil clarity if you don't care for this or are happy to make this compromise then these could well be the right stage for you whether they are or are not we hope this video has helped you make that decision let us know if there are products you want to see us review in the comments below and please like and subscribe if you found the video helpful thanks for watching and we'll see you in the next one
