Major's Mess Hall - Episode 194 - Jimmy Fallon Can't Be All That Bad

[Music] [Music] I welcome [Music] major [Music] hello and welcome to episode 194 of the major musal podcast and I'm your host Gavin and as you can hear this is a super clear recording but unfortunately only for now so basically what happened was I recorded an episode with Stephanie and Kelly and we use zoom like we always do and it was a great episode it's just a fun chat we talk about some um current topics in pop culture um and just have a little bit of a laugh anyway when I went to edit the episode afterwards I noticed that my microphone wasn't hooked up it was the microphone that's built into the monitor of the computer that I record on which is terrible so my quality mic that you can hear me recording on right now is not the mic that I'm using to talk to the girls on Zoom so unfortunately what you're about to hear is um a really terrible recorder of me Stephanie and Cy sound fantastic but mine sounds like I'm underwater you can still hear me but it's just it sounds like I'm on the phone that's the best way to describe it I'm not underwater I'm on the phone and rather than scrap the entire episode because I I thought it was a fun chat and I want to share it with you guys um I just figured I'd stick on a little bit of a warning that the audio is not great I honestly really don't like putting out terrible audio um and when I the few occasions that I have I always feel like I need to apologize so I apologize in advance now for what you're about to hear it's not like I say the girls are fine it's just me I I totally understand if you can't get through it and it's just not what you want to listen to but what I will say is at the end of the episode I play out um the major top five questions that we do with many of our guests I play out a recorded version I did last year with my grand father um where I ask him the top five so if even if you don't listen to the episode itself please just forward towards like maybe 7 minutes before the episode finishes um I'm not quite sure how long the segment is itself but forward to the end so that you can hear me interview me grandfather cuz um that would mean a lot to me if you did that um but 194 okay we are recording this is it because I just started the episode and wasn't recording and Steph had to say are you recording I'm like no okay so this is episode 194 I'm Gavin and we're obviously joined by Steph hi thanks for having me and Kelly's back hello and we were just saying that like it's it's bit of sweet because this really this is officially um Kelly and Stephanie's meeting first like you know they're meeting I'm doing quotation Maring things because it's obviously virtual but it should have been in person in Chicago which didn't happen not Chicago never Chicago where are you going honestly my head is all over the place at the moment not Chicago that was a different time but it didn't happen maybe it will be Chicago because I've mentioned it now yep that's what you're doing you put it out into the universe we're all going to meet in Chicago it will happen one day I'm I'm sure we'll make it happen yeah it will that's the thing will even if Stephanie has to come here while you're visiting one time true yeah we will make it happen you know you never never you never know I think you'd like it here I think I need a passport yeah that's St although I think one of my um have me es yes has run out yeah we see we need it's called an eser but we need to have this like Visa that's good for two years just to visit the US and even if you're not visiting even if it's just a stop over to go somewhere else you still need an EST in order to land in the US yeah I think either that or the Canadian ones run out one of the two I'm not sure so you need one for Canada if you yeah there's I had a passport when I was younger I don't have one anymore but it but I can get one I'm I'm legal like a key a key into all the countries like it's nice to have yeah of course and you never know exactly anyway so this is not this is not gonna be a jump packed episode I'll just say that straight off the bat now don't mean to disappoint people um but so a little bit of a catch up how have you been Kelly because it's been a while since you've been on I know I've been studying I an enough my exam so I've kind of not been recording it's really hot here I'm sweating so much we're having a bit of a heat wave and for the UK that's a big thing it's a big thing it's like to the point where like oh we have got no airon we don't have airon so it's um it's really sweaty and like humid a b like the week when I was visiting you it's a bit like that you know you can't it's exact it's not nice like see we do Celsius obviously the US is different for you but like Celsius today was like 20 it was uh 32 today which is really hot it's I think that's like something like in Fahrenheit like it's it's hot but I'm sure where Stephanie is it's probably it's nothing to Stephanie it's probably this is just something to us I don't no it's not hateful that's why I'm sitting outside but it's been really really terrible it's been in the upper 90s and the hundreds when it's like with humidity now it say 82 and feels like 85 so what state are you in Stephanie but that's Fahrenheit um West Virginia okay that's where Amy Martin's from as well yeah is one of our she's a friend of mine but she's one of our dedicated listeners and also a patron as well podcast yeah she's lovely is she don't talk to Amy we're trying to convince Amy to come here as well yeah we are maybe we should to go to West Virginia I know I know West yes we should I know West Virginia is a big state but I wonder how close we'll have to do it off air but I'll tell me if it's close right I was gonna ask where she lives but um and you know Kelly Craig lives in West Virginia too gav Craig but not anywhere close to me like for or five hours away so yeah I live I live very close to DC and Baltimore see I've been there twice and I loved it I absolutely loved it I would like to go to DC it was DC the one thing I noticed about DC was how clean it was yeah so clean there's no garbage on the floor or anything it's just clean this is um the wish is to go to every state even if she like an hour stop off that's the wish that's awesome I love that obviously better than others others you'll probably stay for 10 minutes and then go yeah that's enough I I'm not gonna talk crap about anyone's anyone's State because West Virginia is pretty far up the list of states people talk crap about it's like thank God for Mississippi see I like Mrs Zippy the best milkshake of my life in m it's not Mississippi it's Mississippi I know you tell me I was saying um Arkansas as AR Kanas for a long time is it yeah look there's dog happening there look dog so we're just looking at the webs just so in case people are wondering what we talking about somebody's just delivered something to Stephanie's house all right that UPS yes but right at the same time that it started raining really hard oh really that's why he walked away my eyes get weary I was like um I'm gonna move and just pick up this whole table my garage and then that's when the UPS guy comes up like as me and CIA saying King of Queens because obviously to reference to the dog Hing because he works for the equivalent of um a UPS oh yeah yeah I love it yeah it's it's our favorite it's my favorite show is it one of your favorites as well K yeah that's up there brilliant excellent I went to um but you know what he drops his ice cream and it looks like it's a massive Park it's actually just like a little piece of grass in um like one of the Lots on in LA and it's like how is that the park that's the whole thing that you think it is it's mad West Virginia West Virginia song it's got a song forget anything else every every night out that song was always played the dance version Country Road yeah I have a tattoo it says take me home amazing um but I'm not from here I just sound like you're from there do what you don't sound like you're from West Virginia no I'm not like I said I'm an hour and a half from DC in Baltimore and that's where I grew up was closer to DC and Baltimore that makes sense I I talk like um I'm from there I must admit I'm pretty rubbish at telling the difference of where American accents are from unless it's southern states or really like cats and dogs you know like you yeah very obvious I can kind of differentiate those but everyone else those in the Middle look I lost yeah it looked like you were on one of those like witness protection things I know like a documentary where the person doesn't want to be seen so it's just Shadow I I didn't know it was gonna rain guys sorry now I'm in my garage you can see all my everything it's oh well it's I'm jealous you've got a garage that's amazing and I don't know why I just said garage we say yeah did what do you say garage yeah garage garage okay sometimes we call it the gay rage garage it it sounds like French or something doesn't it garage garage this is a segment in itself because have you seen those things on Tik Tok where they have like an American and an English saying the same word yeah this is a segment we got to do on another show yeah we say garage but the my problem is if I start if I say garage to anyone around yeah laugh at me so I have to say the way they say it and then when I go back home and I start saying garage everyone back there so I can't win and that's different words it's not just that word yeah the garage and it's my um hangout place but it's also where a husband keeps his tools and like the kids bikes and we have a Power Wheels for the little one and there's fishing hes lining the like ceiling wow yeah like aop there's a deer head on the wall but I have purple lights I have purple lights all over it oh nice yeah yeah you P me over with the purple lights it's where we hang out but um yeah it started to rain I didn't know it was going to rain I haven't been paying attention sorry guys funny a funny little segment is it yeah and then the UPS guy is like here's this you gotta just leave it at the door bro just perfect timing okay so we we are we're obviously all we are all music lovers and we all have an appreciation for I don't even like saying boy bands but male vocal groups we've all got a we're all fans of that more so for me and Kelly it was back boys although and of course for you Stephanie it was Inc but we love nyn as well let's not let's not let's be honest we love nyn and we we we are aware that there been there's some sort of comeback in the way for sync and I just want to talk about it for a minute because it's been like how long's it been it's been it's been over 20 years now hasn't it since they put out music it's been that long I can't even remember what the last song was now was it gone the last s girlfriend and I'm pretty sure that was 2003 or not gone are you sure it's not girlfriend or not gone wasn't Gone Gone was the second single it was um girlfriend was a third wasn't it either way that album came out in 2001 so if a single came off of it in 2002 but Justin's Justin's um solo album came out in 2002 oh okay so laughing you know I know you love for ginger cats SC yeah I'm not a fan of ginger cats I love ginger cats Facebook Stephanie's like in the talks of getting like a cat oh you were looking at them yeah there's like a bunch of kittens and I didn't see a ginger one but there was a black one and I was like I'll make I'll make it easy for you always black Min to oh I I had a I had a we call them orange cats but I I had a ginger cat and he was the most amazing we I've only ever had two cats and the other one we got at the same time she's not nice and the orange one was nice and he passed but it's like if there's a if I find an orange kitten who needs a home I will be weak yeah did you know this is a little fact that Kelly told me actually and I looked it up to make sure it was true and it is that most Ginger or most orange cats are male yeah I knew that that's so weird like it's really rare to find a female one and it's the opposite with Calico like Calico is usually a female yeah the funny story is this is Maui after after the island who I thought was male when I bought her and girl and she's a little girl yeah got her to the vet and she like do you think you have a male cat and I was like I the when I went to buy her the lady was it the cat was not in the best condition so I was taking it home regardless of what it was but when I went to check if it was a boy or girl she like it's a it's definitely a male I was like okay I'll just take it anyway when I got to the vet when it's it's a female isn't it she he's like yes and ginger females are divas and she is a little diva but she's she's cute yes maybe okay so anyway back to anding so Stephanie what's going on withing can you just explain what do you know okay I don't know anything except the trolls movie yeah there's a third trolls movie coming out isn't that Justin does the voice of one of the lead characters and he always has but apparently for this one all five ins sync guys are reuniting as voice actors I guess for the the boy band that's in the movie and then there there's definitely at least one new single like song that's all I know do you know if that will be released under the name of an sync like as a single I don't know about that like I I I don't and I'm not I'm not the one to ask because I don't go digging I'd rather just be surprised yeah surely it has to be I want okay so with you said about like the voice I don't know how true that is because one of the the character that comes into because we've seen it in the trailer the character that like comes into the the Limelight face to talk to branch which is Justin's character is voiced by someone else and he's a member of the band oh okay so I don't know if they are voicing I don't know if they are doing voice I don't know I feel like it's it's actors that are doing that okay so I was just guessing that because I swear in one trailer I heard JC's voice and fatone's voice yeah but you know like maybe I honestly don't know I heard JC talking I know I heard JC talking and just Co off who knows I didn't hear what you said but I'm laughing anyways I said I said may maybe you know they just got JC Lance and Joey to do voice just call Chris off just call him off are we G to talk bad about Chris again today we're not gonna talk bad about Chris we like Chris We're not gonna say B about Chris I I love Chris can make fun of himself by put get your ass kicked Chris got it under I don't know I and I don't know anything else I know two people who would maybe be in the know and one that was definitely at least in the knowabout trolls that have kind of eluded they're not saying anything else is happening but that it could like or it might or it everyone's been sworn to see chy Haven they I think they've all been told no one no one is to speak yeah about it at all because like you've got to figure if it wasn't true they would have quashed it by now they would have said like no listen guys like pay to this point but it's not happening but the fact no one's even saying anything yeah it's weird it's weird it's weird a joint I told Kelly and Kelly was in she was in a bit of a bad mood at the time so when Kelly's anything you say to us she's gonna have a negative slant on and I me in a real bad mood and I oh it's only a single I want a full album I don't want I don't want one song I want a tour and I want an album and I'm like I'll just take the song like I want that as well just I wasn't happy with the one single was I no I want a back stre I want a back street in sync tour that's my goal I don't know that will just explode the world it can't even happen I think I I just don't think nyn need back stre boys at all I don't but I want that this is my goal if they just didn't do that for them my favorite tour is when they joined for fores with um new kids new kids back street I loved it that was know who was coming out next it was brilliant I was there that was a fun time I just I don't know I feel like instinct touring by themselves they're they're going to break the break it break the internet Ticket Master they're gonna make millions of women cry who can't even get a ticket and or a VIP or a or anything else so Throw Back Street Boys in there and then you've got their fans who've been established going to show lately trying to get tickets too but all the Instinct girls like about us I know that BR me a little heart of could get still a rivalry within the fan Community as well so they' just be there'd be brawls and all kinds at the shows wouldn't it so it's so weird I don't get in the fan Community that's why I said I wasn't the person to ask like I don't get in the insin fan Community it's too muchan Community because there's always Nutters there's always a bunch and I can't be doing with it I honestly can't I'm not there for the drama at all with anything even with like you know Trailer Park Boys there's drama with that as well and I'm just like I don't want to be involved in it I'm not in any fan Community but I see The Nutters that um there's plenty that engage you so yeah yeah he's like I've got another one and I'm like oh on what's going on now that's how Gavin Gavin got me from LFO fan Community but I'm like yeah gav I hope you understand fan communities is it's that small that it doesn't it's not that bad in comparison to some others so I don't really be fair that's how he got his wife how he got his wife I said to be fair that's how he got his wife it is yeah I wasn't even looking though that's the thing it just Happ wait I need story eventually and we made friends because of Backstreet yeah so we met I'll just say quickly now we met in the um me and Dina met in the bo boys chat room on their website there was a chat room on there in like 2018 2018 20 2008 and uh she started out with friends she thought I was gay I mean obviously I'm not and she's figured that out quite quick and yeah we just friends and then we took it from the chat room to I think it was like MSM messenger or something back then and we were just chatting back and forth and then it was a case of we should meet so she actually flew over to England to meet me and then I flew over here to meet her and then it was just back and forth for a while and then she moved to the UK for three years and within that time we got married but we got married here in Canada and then eventually we just moved I got me visa and we moved here it's literally because of the vxy voice I love it that's so sweet and the best part is that um when we were at this show in 2014 she was pregnant with Alice and we were in The Sound Check and I know some of the crew members and I told them about it prior so that when you do a Q&A you put your hand up if you want a mic I stand out like a s th s th because I'm six foot and I'm a guy all the rest are all women so I put my hand up and the guy came over and give me the mic he knew exactly what I was going to say and I I said before I asked him a question I just want to tell you guys me and me wife met and your fan club and blah blah blah and explain the whole thing I said we're expecting our first baby and we got married and they were just like oh like that's amazing I than you so like it's it's on record actually I I've got the video link somewhere I have to show you it but um they upgraded us to um like Platinum VIP and we ended up going to the after party and we we were on stage with them at one point because it's a segment where like the VIPs get to go on stage and it was it was great it was an amazing show oh I love it and then like at the at the after party like obviously everyone's just like all over them and we're we were just standing back and AJ spots us and comes over and he like makes it makes a be line to us and he says to DEA and he's like are you okay do you need to sit down because he knew she was expecting thought was really sweet that's amazing I love that story I didn't know that I remember I remember saying to Kevin when we were in the getting our photos taken because we had two photos taken one at the Afterparty and I said like thank you so much and he goes no no no no thank you thank you so much you know little things like that go a long way for sure yeah Kelly like again like we went to college together and I remember when well I let Kelly tell actually tell tell her about like when we were doing that like meet and greet you know like getting to know one another in a big circle oh yeah we had to stand up and um introduce yourself and tell you tell like little things that you you know about yourself and um I just said oh I like boy bands like particular backseat boys and him and another guy like went woo and I thought oh they're taken like like what making fun of that's what I mean like yeah I thought they were making fun of me cuz to beir they were taking a piss what you said taking the piss yeah I went to say that but oh you do okay that's why I went to say it and then I rephrased it um but yeah they I thought oh they're taking the piss me them two and then because he looked no offense but you looked like two guys who didn't like back Bo right and then um later on he's like no I actually do um and then I found out you were in a band then I went to watch one of your your shows didn't I yeah and then then I I watched quite a few of your your your um shows when you're in the the band wasn't I she ended up because she sings as well so she ended up actually opening for a bunch of shows that we did oh yeah she was like the opening act so she got like two or three songs I love it that's amazing I wasn't sure how you the two of you met but I did listen to a a previous episode today with you on at Kelly in the in the rest of Gavin's band or the other oh of Gavin B Gavin's band so I started to wonder like how the two of you met but that's great College good old College we met a college mixer how long ago is that was like 200 one 2001 yeah yeah because that's when oh God yeah we were in college yeah we were in college in the 91 things happened yeah so we're Gavin we're the same age but so I guess Kelly were the same age too yeah 30 I turn 39 next week oh okay so wait so you're a little younger I went to col I went away to college in 2002 but I'm 39 think we in slightly different we so I don't know how the school years work but we yeah we're the same age but we're in different school years like you Gavin's a year the school year above me okay got it because all run from September if you were born in September you were in the lower year basically right you went into the year below yeah September to August one year then so you're May baby aren't you so you were the year above exactly I'm June so Gavin Gavin you are old here okay yeah all right paps py yeah okay so the other thing that was on the list of things to talk about was this whole Jimmy Fallon thing and the reason why I wanted to bring it up is because I I think it was on our last episode The Stephanie was like she named Jimmy Fallon is like her favorite comedian and I just thought well why not because it's current and people are talking about it I just wonder what Stephanie thinks about this whole Jimmy Fall's obviously the latest celebrity to be accused of not being very nice basically to his staff I had no idea seriously you you haven't seen that it's all over the internet I have not seen that I'm I don't have I've not seen wow I'm surprised yeah so it's um I was going to mention it to you earlier and I was like you'll know about that there's no point thanks Gavin for blindsiding me yeah I don't believe it Jimmy's lovely well I don't I don't know if it's not I don't know if you can say it's not true I I I guess Jimmy Fallon's never going to listen to this episode right well we're not gonna like the thing is we're not we we're not gonna say he's bad we're just saying what people allegedly allegedly allegedly this he will never listen to the seest podcast ever but there's there was I think he makes me laugh but because I'm not in the comedy I don't go see standup comedy I don't I mean I watch comedy movies and stuff like that so I come up with someone I was trying to come up with someone who wasn't just an act don't to justify it at all like you like like end of day thing just be like why does gav like boy bands I'm not goingon to explain myself I just I like singing and and I like vocal harmonies and these guys the guys do it simple as that he was probably just the most recent one that I saw a video and made me laugh so that's why I said it um and then afterwards I think I even told you like well I should have said this person I should have said this person I should I watched The Hangover this week and all I want to do is like watch Zach gathan like all day long yeah but I remember thinking a couple years ago and it's gotten better but watching Jimmy Fallon like that dude is so wasted or blown out of his mind like well that's that's one of the accusations is that he like he was drunk drunk on the job yeah like I knew that like 10 years ago like you could tell watching him so okay if that's one of the accusations then I don't feel bad okay so the funny thing is that um one of the one of the crew members has and this is why I think I don't know if you can say it's not true because they've mentioned joking I'm not saying it's not true no no no I'm just saying like like not specifically to you but to anyone that's like in defense of him I don't know if you could just completely say that it's not true because they mentioned they've mentioned all celebrities being around when he's lost his temper and I just think if you do unless these other celebs he now come out and say that never happened you you basically brought someone else into it that now either can deny it or say it's true or not and one of the people is ironically Jerry Seinfeld who I said was one of my favorite comedians apparently Jerry was on the show with him one time when it being filmed and one of the show runners or the person that's in charge of the Q cards got something wrong and apparently like Jimmy like lost it on it and uh it could have an up guy actually I don't know and um Jerry apparently like in a joking way said like he needs to apologize to that person and He did apparently he did say sorry but like Jerry Jerry seld was the one who said you need to apologize so I don't it's true I mean like the whole thing the same thing happened with Ellen didn't it and she obviously gave up a show in the end but hopefully it won't come ego don't they I love it James Cordon the same isn't it yeah he's know the one who got you know he was rude to people in restaurants and stuff that's the thing when you're in the when you're in the public eye like that you you can't do anything wrong wrong because something that's small to anyone else that does that wrong it's blown up massively online like I mean you know James Cordon you mentioned there like he was literally accused of just being not very nice to a waitress or a waiter or whatever but like you and I could do that and it wouldn't no one would care it would just be like it's just life it's we people are allowed to complain and not be happy but when you're a celebrity it's like you don't have the right to complain anymore almost so so yeah I just wonder what your thoughts were on Jimmy Fallon but Stephanie didn't even know about it and Kelly was joking about saying that well I don't know the story enough to be honest to to say yes or no really he's just been accused of not being nice yeah well and then I mean that's just I would I almost assume celebrities like his that level of celebrity are not going to be nice and friendly but if you work for them or you deal with them every day you have to be cordial and you have to be yeah you don't have to be friendly but you have to be what's the the word like polite you have to be yeah you have to remember that they are humans and things like that but if I ever meet a celebrity I'm always nervous like oh my God are they going to destroy my whole um understanding of who they are because they're going to be dismissive right exctly that's what fans if they're it's the people you work for saying that you are horrible that's a totally different um it's true though like because they say like never meet your Heroes like don't do it because it's a lot because you have this thing in your mind of what they're going to be like and then it does when it doesn't live up to that it's only let down isn't it and I mean I I've talked about it so many times just about to ask go on then tell us your worst experience your worst encounter well I'm not going to I'm not going to say it in in the whole thing because I've literally talked about it so much that our listeners just be rolling their eyes but I met P brosman one time and I'm not like don't get me wrong like I love P brosman like I'm a huge fan I'm not I really appreciate his movies and I think he's a good actor and he was here and I went over to him to ask him could have a picture he was on his own I wasn't rude like we didn't have crowds of people and I even did it like quietly so the people wouldn't see that it was him and I asked him have a picture and he just went and he just shook his head at me and I went oh okay and he goes no he goes I will shake your hand now and I was like oh okay so like he literally shook me hand and then I think he said nice to me yeah and that was it and then he was annoyed because i' spotted him basically I blew James B Bond James Bond's cover basically I can say that I did that that's perfect he wasr agan because I SP um yeah so but I felt let down like after that I was like oh I wish I hadn't done that now because I've upset him and like yeah it just was it wasn't left with a nice feeling I wasn't like oh wow I just got to shake his hand it was more like a I've just pissed him off to the point where like he's literally got up walked off now like he's finished his drink and he's gone like because he's been spotted and I was just like yeah I probably shouldn't have done that but he was on his own if he'd been with like a like one of his kids or something I never would have went near him but I just figured you know what he's just having a paint outside of a pop on his own everyone knew he was filming in high it was talked about we all knew he was around somewhere and uh yeah I just asked him and he did it wasn't rude but it was just like the way just you could see he was annoyed because he just shook his head yeah and you never know he could have had a really terrible day he could have just gotten bad news you just never know but true yeah it really is true so like at the time I was like Frick but then in hindsight I'm like no not really it's not he could have been so much worse than he was and he was quiet about it he didn't want to do a picture he doesn't have to do a picture why you know not it's up to him and he didn't want to so and he could have just said no and got and walked away but he he at least offered to shake me hand which I thought was nice I didn't have anything to ask to sign which he may well have done but yeah yeah never meet hero that's not a that's not a terrible hurtful story like I remember being scared out of my ever loving mind to meet Joey faton because I was so afraid that he was going to be rude or not rude but like dismissive or something and and it would break and Shatter Me to my core right that's mainly why I was scared but then he was freaking lovely of course how he's met you before yeah yeah he was on um I went on the Impractical Joker cruise and he was on the with um and know I was like I was like I don't care never I get a picture with your practical jokers I want one with pone that's my goal and I've seen him within the first like few minutes and I was like oh my God he's right there so I was like Joey have a picture he's like yeah and then he started to get frustrated because I didn't get me didn't have my camera ready I was like oh sorry he's like come on selfie mode if you're coming over and I was like so then he was just joking like and then um got a picture and then he gets on stage and he's like and then he said oh guys I'm going to be around all week pictures he wasn't seen after that day not accessible anyway I think I seen him in the lift like a few times with and his but his like his girlfriend was like going around wearing an NN jacket so everybody knew there's no stealth about it she just had an SN jacket on she knew who she was with but then he came and he came and did um she Sean CL who's like the a big Elvis impersonator he was on the the boat as well and um he was singing all Elvis tracks and Joey came on and sang and then you know when Elvis gives up the scarfs well forone give me a scarf I was like yes I got a scarf that's my phone encounter I love it I mean I totally went to the a convention to meet him twice and that was of course I waited in line and paid and you know paid for my selfie and my autographs and my pictures and everything but he was he was lovely but that was the mo the time I was most scared like oh meet someone I've loved since I was 13 years old and one of these mean that's what we were like for the back sheet Bo isn't it yeah we was exactly the same yeah yeah and it was great it was fine but it's you do think because you just have these expectations and you don't want them to be shot at yeah and then I I also know they're allowed to be human and they're allowed to have a bad day or they're allowed to they all they have to do when we even when you pay all they have to do is say hi shake your hand or hug and take a picture even if you pay but then like if they're more kind than that it kind of sets you up to expect that from others and then I don't know but but I've never met the back stre boys Brian shook my hand once oh did he at the new kids the new kids BSB n kot b n kotbs yeah yeah so wherever my my husband had bought our tickets and he didn't mean to but they were fantastic and when they came down from like up they came down Brian walked right by us and like held my hands but I've never I've never met them and that's the only time time I've seen them I was supposed to go see them during covid and then of course it got canceled and I never never win again but yeah I go to all the new kids tours and that's another one like you don't know if they're going to be cold or warm sometimes during those VIPs and it's kind of scary to go in and be like is Donnie gonna be nice today or is it going to be a little standoffish like what are they like what were they like when you met them new kids oh lovely the last time the last time I went the um Donnie was a little more standoffish but my daughter was with me and he it was her first time meeting them she didn't know she was going to until like 30 minutes before and and I told him it's her first it's her first time meeting you into a show and um she was 12 or 12 and he was like you better pinky promised me right now you're going to have the best night of your life and it was it was really sweet a but they are they're lovely I'd love to have Donnie on the Pod he'd be a great guest wouldn't he he would I bet um we could work on John for now yeah get John John will do Jord Joey am I am that's funny got gotta be Donnie he's the top dog isn't he got to be thought yeah it's he's our captain but there's um Jordan and Joe both give me and everyone else is like oh my God they're so funny they're so kind and I'm like like it's our personalities don't and so if I'm trying to be funny they don't understand that I'm funny if they're trying to be funny I don't understand that they're being funny uh really but I I every time I meet Danny Donnie and John it's fine it's weird but um okay one more Story the very first time and I don't know if Gavin knows this one but the very first time I met new kids it was just that quick meet and greet thing like a group of 10 and you just roll through and my sister was in front of me Donnie said he loved her glasses he kissed her on the cheek I walk up I have my glasses on which I never do anymore but I'm like I can't believe this is happening and he said you are adorable and like kissed me on the cheek and I swear I could not make it through the rest of those three guys I got I got out of that place and like fell on the ground and I was an adult like I was 35 years [Laughter] old and I was like Jenny McCarthy's husband just called me adorable I'm like that I never know what to say I just I go blank I don't know what to say and you right my friend always thinks of something catchy she was always trying to think of a story when I'm meeting someone just to have a conversation but I just my mind goes blank and I can't think of anything to say it's so and that's the funny thing with with John of new kids and like Danny I'm I can say something and maybe with Donnie but and then but they respond back oh hey more in the garage that's my husband coming home I thought I didn't know they were coming home yet um what was I gonna say I'll mute for a minute okay yeah no worries what was I gonna say I was gonna say something then about it was about new kids no it wasn't oh I was just gonna mention about um baby ma with the nicest nicest I've ever met I I couldn't believe how nice we so nice like all three of them as well not not even just one but like all three of them just lovely Ste as soon as he KN like could tell we were local he's like oh my God Liverpool and I was like and he literally just walked away come back with a VIP pass didn't he we got it it was all set up by Christian who was a member of the band and uh was when we got there mark came straight over and Mark was just like I'd love going podcast I've got all this I want to talk about he starts telling me all these things he want to talk about and Christian was like well let's set it up through our agent first and he's like oh yeah okay you go he got me on Instagram and end of getting on Instagram he gives me his phone number and now I text him now he's just one of the nicest people ever the whole band but Mark yeah they are lovely been you've been really nice they're probably the nicest ones we've met that have like gone out the way haven't they definitely well what were we going to say I said I love B it went remember that time AG we met Ag and like all right little love he think all yeah you always speaks with like a London accent and it's like nothing how he sounds every time I meet him he like mimics an accent like a typical British accent and it's like it's so bad you said it was AJ yeah yeah always always does it and it's just it's always accent and it's terrible yeah it's a terrible like London that's not even really a London ACC style is from the 1960s or something that's not even an acent of day and age that's hilarious I I met BB Mac I was warned and I definitely just fell head over head over heels for them all of them they all love Leon bless him and I thought I Mark girl but I am not it took it took less than three minutes and I was like uh St is my man I did tell you you say it is local he was playing his guitar and like looking in my eyes and it I was done for I was done Steve will not come on the podcast no he's not a podcast guy is he ask him like like he'll answer any message but when you're ask about the podcast he just doesn't respond and so then I went to Mark and I was like Mark I was like can you ask St you come on a part was like I keep asking him he's not answering me I just want to yes or no like can you ask him in person he said he would and he goes he goes yeah mate he goes I'll ask him he goes but honestly he goes no and staying the way he is his approach to most things is can't be asked which means can't be bothered like he probably can't be asked he said if I'm completely honest he but I will ask him for you and I never chased it out with Mark I just thought I'll leave it like I don't want to make anyone feel the need to have to tell me no if don't want to tell me no I'll just leave it alone but well have get mark on again you know soon Yeah well yeah we'll we'll have to definitely the next tour yeah next tour we'll try get on an album coming out next year so maybe when that's you are will bring him back on again yeah okay so I don't know Steve told me in person that he maybe maybe would do it who said that stay yeah I said well Gavin I said well of course I Nam dropped you and and they all said oh he's a lovely lad and I don't have a good accent either but then I said yeah and yeah I think there's only one of you have you have to be on the podcast right and Steve was like oh maybe maybe yeah maybe that means no that means no like yeah yeah you can ask him St you send him a message and ask him may as well just try we've got to tick off we've gone around all the bands we got to take a new kids off I can't say that up to now every member we've had on it hasn't been a complete lineup no I mean but we've had a member off of like Miss the top three aren't we and um and think well apparently Lance Bast is the person to talk to because he has them all on his podcast he's the one who's got the connections I think that I could eventually get Joey see that would be amazing eventually it's gonna take a really long time yeah but we'll work on that a really long time like we're talking five years out I've got a plan got five years left me with the podcast but maybe if there's if there's a chance of getting Joey on maybe I'll stick it off keep this going five years Joey amazing amazing right listen I think we're gonna wrap it up now because we've been talking for a while and I do want to finish on a a special segment which I have done many times before in the podcast it's the top five which is where we ask all of our guests that we have on the podcast or most of them not all of them but most of them we ask the top five questions and the same questions every time and all the answers are always different now last year when I was in England I recorded a couple of top fives I did one with me Uncle Dale which I've already played out which was really interesting and I did one with me grandfather Ronnie and I never played it out I just I was saving it for a special reason and it was just it literally was just saved and I never played it out but I won't go into detail you guys obviously already know but the Grandad's not very well at the moment and I'm going to play it I'm as part of this episode I'm going to play it as a little bit of a tribute to me Grandad and hope that he you know he gets get better and he's in hospital at the moment so hopefully he'll be going home at some point soon mind with that one I just used to sing it to you n oh yes yeah yeah and I mean I as you know I'm a singer and then that's one I've never suang before I know it you know know quite well but I've never done my own rendition of it yeah so I'll have to stick that one on me list anyway strangers in the nights Franken arre okay uh next question is uh what would you say is the perfect meal and I know I call you um every second Sunday for the chat and I always say what what are you having for your supper tonight um but if you had to choose one meal what would you choose I'd choose um a family get together for a Chinese banquet spot on yeah um and what what what's your favorite part for Chinese um ribs sweet and sour King prawns oh prawns you that's where me and me dad get it from we both like King prawns as well yeah and the ribs don't forget you um the ribs oh well starter yeah the that's the starter isn't it yeah yeah all right well I agree with you on that one love a family Chinese banquet yeah um okay next question is which this is one that's quite tof to answer um but can you tell us something about yourself maybe not that no one else knows but maybe not that I don't know I can't think of anything but I look on my life as an open book and I have no secrets from my family and friends so that's all I can say about it that's a good answer very very fair answer um okay next question is what inspires you gardening where you can be creative yeah yeah you've always had a lovely Garden um even just growing up my whole life that Garden has never looked dull it's always been full of uh full of life yeah full of many different flowers and fruit and vegetables and um yeah even now looking out there now even at 91 my granddad keeps a lovely garden flowers are just amazing um okay final question Grandad where is your favorite place to be um I've got a few but um the one I was most impressed with was Las Vegas oh really yeah I thought you would have said benador no um Las Vegas oh well benador yeah but uh more important places yeah Las Vegas and um Egypt the pyramids oh yeah yeah is is that I just tell that funny story um about the camels you remember that one oh yeah well we we was four of us with my wife and um two two friends and we um we went to the pyramids on a coach and when we got about a mile away from the pyramids um I wanted to go up to the pyramids on the coach to go through the pyramid but uh my wife wanted to go on the camel so four of us had camels and uh each one had a an Egyptian leading it um and as um my friend wife trotted past us she said look at me Ron I'm running faster than you and little Egyptians said you have two wives he said no I haven't have one's enough very very funny um so you say Las Vegas what was it about Las Vegas that really struck you well actually um cuz I was in the buildings right um the buildings oh of course they were built and um how big they were yeah massive yeah whenever you go into even if it's a house I always see you're inspecting you're looking around the house and seeing different things looking at things no one else would look at yeah yeah yeah Ron Sergeant was the same yes my friend yeah Ron Sergeant when they were building um the the the the new tunnel um and you come out the other end um they were building that when we were going to watch Everton when he was down here from caner Berry and we were walking through these half half built tunnels and that and we shouldn't have been in there really but we were that engrossed in what how the shuttering was done and that so people there
