Brazil on Friday night to play the Eagles in what is unquestionably one of the most interesting and important games of week one there's an interesting note on the screen that I had not expected the Eagles given a 59% chance to win by our analytics so let's dive into the game here Jeff you agree with that you you see 59 that that because that's not an insignificant number no 52% is an insignificant number 59% is not an insignificant number do you see it that way do you give the advantage to Philly I do and I think Philly for me this is a a very important game and I think with serani and Herz and all the different things that have gone on there the last year with the spiral this is a this is a big time this is important for them and I think with the addition of Barkley with what they're going to try to do offensively I think Herz gets back in the action actually running the ball and throwing the ball I see a lot of upside if their defense can slow down Green Bay to a degree I think the Eagles win this one I want to get to this here because we're talking about two great young quarterbacks who were drafted in the same class Jordan love in the first round Jaylen Herz in the second uh Herz is 26 years old love will be 26 in November so so many parallels there for these guys which one do you believe has the huge night on Friday night I'll put the pick bars up here and Hulk I'll start with you which one of these do you think has the huge night on Friday night I think it's Jordan love I think Jordan love has a huge night against a secondary for the Eagles that are putting things together you can make the same argument on the Packers side the defensive side maybe even more but what I love about Jordan love's game is that it is universal like the fact that they don't have a number one wide receiver statistically and on paper is an indicator that he understands his number one receiver is the guy that's open the way that he spreads the ball around and you've only added weapons in that back field with Jacobs I think it's going to be a big game for Jordan love and he'll continue the track and the trajectory that we saw him take on at the end of last season too when we were doing our preseason predictions and all that I I picked uh Jordan love to be the MVP so I am completely sold Dan you're riding with Philly yeah not it wasn't easy I mean that was a difficult question to answer I mean yeah jayen Herz I think does have something to prove this year and and obviously you want to make the the right first impression uh in week one uh Hawk referenced it the Packers have a new coordinator on defense as well uh former Boston College Coach Jeff hafley so they may be still putting things together on that side of the ball which has been a major problem for them the last couple of years even when their offense was humming last year they still had trouble with consistency on defense so yeah I I think the eag the eag I just think the Eagles are loaded man I think they're yeah he does a great let me say this about the offense and defenses usually typically defenses are ahead of offenses early in the season the caveat to that is running quarterbacks it's like if if they use her it is very difficult when all of a sudden you got Barkley on it right it's a Zone read he pulls it is he one-onone on the backside you have to play disciplined on defense ey is going to be very important where they're seeing the ball so if they use that part of Herz game which is always kind of iffy with what serani wants to use early in the season it opens up shots down the field usually I would go lean towards the defense on a on a uh you know on a first game I'm just telling you when a QB can run the way Herz can and be physical that makes it tough for defense just a super quick question here if if I were to sort of looking at the helmets and who we have on the screen if I were to translate that or spread it out Hulk to which team you think has the bigger season because these are two teams thinking Super Bowl Falls would you ride Green Bay or Philly's chances as the year goes on like what who do you think is the better team as the season goes on super quick this is the tough one I'm gonna go with the Packers I I think they actually take a leap from last year because it was Jordan love he was really learning the NFL game and he got better like really really good towards the end obviously it LED and culminated in the contract but I think he'll be even better than he was a year ago me too I go Green Bay you guys stick rid Philly super quick he has to get more out of Jaylen Herz in terms of locker Loom leadership and Serana himself knows he needs to get more leadership out of himself within this locker room this is the game where you are setting momentum in place you are changing the dynamic and the narrative about the rest of the season to me this is the most important game of the NFL season for week one in so many different ways for Philly I think we all were sort of nodding along as she was saying that and it was yesterday here live with us on get up that he did so Jeff it's a complicated question but as a former player and Coach yeah that team didn't fall apart last year because of x's and o's right it fell apart cuz something was wrong well the X's and O's were bad was bad but there was just internal stuff you could just see it right like there there are things that even those of us who didn't play or coach the game can just see that team's just has has lost its ability to sort of all pull on the Rope what if anything can they show you on Friday night in the first game that will tell you okay whatever it was they figured it out the way they finish plays that's offense and defense so what that means is you know how many hats are getting around the ball on defense right when you see a guy tackle is it is it one guy tackling or there is everybody coming together to make the tackle offensively are they throwing that final block right is somebody doing the extra to get out and spring a block make you know cut one for barku whatever you're going to do those are the things that you see that sees a team that's the quote chemistry everybody's talking about is how do they play for each other and again I'm one of those who don't believe coaches create culture I I think they cast a vision I think the locker room is where culture is develop so I think it's a big moment for Jaylen Herz and the rest of this uh this this Eagles football team to take control of who they are as a team that's very interesting to me Hawke as a former player the the reality is there are questions about the coach Nick serani and there are questions about the Young quarterback Jaylen Herz if this thing goes badly it's the coach who's going to go Herz is getting paid all the money he's 26 years old so he's not going anywhere but but is it on Herz more than it's on serani in your mind Hawke to be the leader of this to get this thing figured out and to get it going in the right direction I think it's on serani for sure um but to your point like what you want out of your franchise quarterback is someone who takes that responsibility on themselves to figure it out regardless of who is the coach and leading the vision for the team to Jeff's Point what I'm looking for to say that the Eagles have turned the corner it's not anything on the field I want to see the sideline I want to see a sideline that after you have success is Devonte Smith AJ Brown Jaylen Herz saquan Barkley uh Jan Dawson are these guys looking as if this is just a first step in a 21 game plan to take McCarthy's uh approach to it that it doesn't matter who gets the ball it doesn't matter there's a lot of shfs in that kitchen we know they have the talent and the problem last year when we started to really see this poke head was on the sideline it was with the coaches it was between the players that was the first indicator to us because they were winning football games so I want to see that this game that regardless of who gets the shine if they walk out of there with a win that everybody feels like hey this is a complete First Step Danny what have you heard out of there do we think that that things are going in the right direction I they they feel good about it right I mean like that you know obviously serani it's been public in terms of some of the issues that went on there last year years so you know he's had to learn from that and ideally gets better I think that you made an interesting point Jeff about the player leadership Jason Kelce was there forever in the middle of the offensive line Fletcher Cox was there forever in the middle of the defensive line both those guys are gone so someone else has to step into those roles uh so obviously Jaylen Herz is an opportunity for him uh to elevate in that regard as well so yeah I I just to me like I I don't think the Eagles looking good answers any questions I think I think we what we need to know about the Eagles is how they respond if they look bad right how they respond to adversity they didn't have any two years ago last year once it set in they fell apart completely right so to me I I feel like we need to see the Eagles get through a season deal with some negatives and bounce back from them in order to answer the questions that we have about them from last year that's an interesting point let's very quickly let's talk about Jason Kelce because you're one of the greatest centers of all time and so are you and and he was the unquestioned leader of that team I think most people viewed it that way not not only off the field but with all the stuff he was doing on the field how would you quantify the significance of that loss oh I think it's a massive loss I mean I I just think his his attitude in the locker room his attitude on that team I I think he I think people identified Jason Kelce and the Eagles right it was like that that's his personality I do think though there's opportunities and gra just said it where Herz can step up and learn more about his offense right understanding more and being more of of the leader on the field not listening to making the commands making the calls telling everybody where he wants them how he wants it and it's hard when you're a young player coming into that style system that you don't depend on and not negatively we all need to depend on each other on a football field but but leaning more on what Herz can do as a player as opposed to other guys around him I think that allows him to be the true qualified leader of that offense that said Jaylen is going to have to get used to taking Snaps from a different Center and as we've all seen at different times that can foree [Music] for for Fore foree fore fore fore fore spe fore spee foree foree spee fore fore fore [Music] spee foreign foreign fore speech speech speee for
