state capital. Jonathan, May ABC, 4 news. Okay. We'll see what happens with this one. Jonathan, thank you. Fire crews are fighting a new wildfire right now in Iron County. It's called the Iron Peak Fire. >> Got started this afternoon in the Cottonwood mountain area near Panguitch. At last check, it's burning 400 acres. That's up from 75 Acres. Just a couple hours ago, it's threatening 3 to 5 structures were told crews have already begun fighting this thing from the air. They've not made any progress yet containing the fire, but we'll keep you updated throughout the evening. Well, let's check in with meteorologist Nate Larson in for Alana and something that drives those fires night. We know windy conditions. Yeah, not great conditions for southwestern Utah where we're seeing that new fire start rain. You saw the quick spread that we've seen. >> Just in the last hour or so from 75 acres to now 400, what's being reported? Wind speeds generally 15 to 20 miles per hour. These are sustained winds in that same area. Cedar City, 18 mile per hour winds. 19 in Milford, slightly stronger with some of the higher peaks to see some of those green shaded areas. We've got breezy conditions across the Wasatch Front as well. A little bit lighter in eastern Utah. Stronger, though in southwest Wyoming, northeastern Utah girl. 23 mile per hour winds there. We've had some shower and thunderstorm development, though, impact these areas of the state fire conditions are expected to stay elevated. In fact, we'll show you some of the current conditions where we're seeing the Iron peak fire temperatures are 85 degrees. So it's not exceptionally warm but the winds out of the west-southwest at 13 miles per hour gusting to 27 relative humidities pretty low. And we know the fire fuels are very dry with it being the latter half of summer. And we've had a lot of time for those fields to really dry out fire alerts that are going to go into effect. We have some fire weather watches for Friday. Red flag warnings to the west of us for tomorrow at 10:00AM through Friday and for southwest Wyoming could see more wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
