Well, a heat wave has moved into a sweltering second day across much of the Midwest and parts of the Mid Atlantic bringing triple digit temperatures to many areas. Yeah, from here in South Texas last week right now, up to Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania. In fact, students there are being dismissed early in Chicago. The animals at the Lincoln Park Zoo are having a hard time keeping cool, getting the water on themselves and in themselves. Then at a high school field in the city, an infrared thermometer get this registers 160 degrees. That's on the artificial turf which remember high heat can be especially dangerous for student athletes. So it's one of the three leading causes of death in high school sport in America. Make sure their high school has an athletic trainer because they don't want to depend on a coach. Their child is gonna die or live when they have a medical emergency. The Coy Stringer Institute recommends schools have athletes get acclimated to the heat before practicing in full uniform and take mandatory water breaks and have a cooling tub to treat overheated players
