brought me safe th far and Grace will lead me home when we've been there 10,000 years bright shining as the sun we no last days to sing God's praise then when we first be amazing gra How Sweet the Sound that s like I once was lost but now and found was blind but I see let us pray oh God who have set a limit to this present life so as to open up an entry into eternity we humbly beseech you that by the grace of your mercy you may command the name of your servant Marv to be inscribed in The Book of Life through our Lord Jesus Christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the UN of the Holy Spirit God forever and ever amen please be seated for the readings from sacred scripture the first reading is a reading from the book of wisdom The Souls of the just are in the hand of God and no torment shall touch them they seemed in the view of the foolish to be dead and their passing away was thought an Affliction and they're going forth from us utter destruction but they are in peace for if in the eyes of men indeed they be punished yet is there hope full of immortality chastised a little they shall be greatly blessed because God tried them and found them worthy of himself as gold in the furnace he proved them and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself those who trust in him shall understand truth and the faithful shall abide with him in love because grace and mercy are are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be satisfied blessed are the merciful for they will be shown Mercy blessed are the clean of heart for they will see God blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven blessed are you when they insult you and the cathedral family here our sincer condolences War sympathies and of course assurances of prayers for you all you knew Marv well as a man as you've recounted beautifully was softspoken kind and patient intelligent a star basketball player a teacher and a coach who loved it husband father grandfather great-grandfather you knew him grandkids is Papa it's a beautiful affectionate term it speak speaks something of the love that you have for him and he for you what moved me most in reading the obituary was the mention obviously of his faith being a guiding force but that you acknowledge Him as one who appreciated the many blessings of life to just appreciate the blessings of life there's enough problems but so many blessings and it just depends on what we look at some of us in in this life uh wise man once told me there's two types of people in the world there's bees and there's flies I said what are you talking about he said well think of it what does a fly do it goes around looking for stinky dead stuff and it spends its day looking for all the nasty it's all it sees flies by the beautiful things of the Earth in seek of the rotten and then there are bees and what does a bee do it looks for flowers flies by them newer doesn't pay any attention to it and goes to the beautiful flower and spreads the love and pollinates and makes honey sweet things of the earth it sounds like Marv was a bee and that's a beautiful thing in this world that he appreciated the blessings of life and lived graciously and that's an honor it's a way to honor him is to live that life of faith and gratitude it's a beautiful way to live and it's a beautiful way to die and I want to thank you Gloria I can't imagine how many wonderful things you did for him throughout your life together and he for you but right now I know that he's saying a particular and profound thank you for all those gifts and also for calling us so that we could come to him just a few days before his final journey and to give him all the love and mercy and Grace in that Sacrament we call the anointing of the sick last writs to prepare him that matters because on that day June 8th his soul having been prepared properly thank you Gloria a lasting gift to call us and say come to him so he can be ready to meet Jesus and on June 8th Marv met Jesus face to face as we all will we all will when we take our last breath Marv met him and what he saw was a soul that was prepared and that meeting was beautiful and I know Marv said to Jesus thank you for the gifts of my life for saving me for doing that for me so that on that last day June 8th it would be a glorious Embrace and I know Jesus said Thank You Mar for appreciating the blessings seeing them and never giving up on me a beautiful Embrace and that is now an eternal Embrace so may your hearts find comfort in that a life well- lived and you Gloria for allowing us to bring him the Sacrament in that crucial moment in his life the most important right now and at the hour of our death as we pray in the hill Mary only two moments that really matter and those two moments became one for Marv on June 8th and we prepared him you prepared him and all the love that you send him he is receiving and we thank Jesus for the great gift of salvation as Marv sings his Praises now in the glories of Heaven be assured of our prayers my gratitude to you Gloria to all of you for your love for him for allowing us to come to him so that Jesus could prepare his heart we will continue to keep all of you in our prayers through all the sadness but stay focused on the Gratitude be bees for your dear beloved Marv and appreciate the many blessings in this life to live graciously a beautiful Testament God bless you all please stand as we continue to pray for our dear beloved Marvin for one another Jesus is risen from the dead and sits at the right hand of his Heavenly Father where he intercedes for us his church confident that he hears the prayers of those who trust in the Lord Jesus We join our prayers to his for Marv who in baptism was given the pledge of eternal life that he may now be admitted to the company of the Saints we pray to the Lord Lord here our pray for our brother who ate the body of Christ the bread of life that he may be raised up on the last day we pray to the Lord Lord he our prayer many friends and members of our families have gone before us and await the kingdom grant them an everlasting home with your son we pray to the Lord Lord here our prayer the family and friends of Marv need comfort and consolation heal their pain and dispel the darkness and doubt that come from grief we pray to the Lord Lord here our prayer we are assembled here in faith and confidence to pray for all of our deceased family and friends strengthen our hope so that we may live in the expectation of your son's coming we pray to the Lord Lord he our prayer Lord God Giver of peace and healer of souls hear the prayers of the Redeemer Jesus Christ all we pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God with blessed Joseph her spouse with the Blessed Apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may Merit to be
