now live Buffalo football talk and as we started to say when we first initiated this PO a few minutes ago first order of business today the emergence of Kim Pula at 4:41: Kim Pegula breaks down the huddles/Ajay's first day at camp practice she had been here throughout training camp and was even here last year at training camp uh but this this time today she was outside of the SUV that was parked in one of the end zones here at St John fiser University walking onto the field uh greeting the players in the post-practice Huddle really breaking it down with them and uh just something that brings a tear to your eye knowing what she's gone through knowing what her family has gone through and to see her out there taking steps in her recovery uh and being an inspiration to the Bills players coaches and staff uh just something you love to see at training camp and uh Josh spoke after practice said the least the players can do is Rally around her given all that she's done for this organization and and that's really what the team is trying to do and it was great to see the response from the fan base on Twitter as well they also were rallying around Kim Pula a lot of well-wishes sent by bills Mafia so just a great great thing to see uh here at St John Fisher University yeah great day uh for the Pula Pula family I'm sure it's great to see Kim out there there you know breaking it down and doing you know doing what she probably has been aiming for for a while and getting back out there and it's just it's it's a great thing to see and I'm sure you know the players the coaches everyone the fans everyone is just just so you know beyond happy that Kim Pula is back out there you know she meant she means so much this organization this team this community so uh yeah to get her back out there definitely an emotional but happy at you know happy at the same time and another happy uh element of today's practice AJ it was your first day covering the bills uh as a member of the credential media an exciting moment for you something I'm sure you've been waiting to do for a long time uh what did you get out of today any exciting experiences that you can recall specifically uh and just your overall uh experience today here at training camp at St John Fisher University yeah just looking forward to and I gotta thank you for giving me the opportunity to be here and grateful you earned it my friend grateful so yeah I just taking it all in and you know kind of kind of I expected because I've been looking forward to this and hoping I could get to this point for a while and obviously more room to grow and more places to be get to but I'm again I'm living in the moment grateful for it and it was just a great day I you know felt like I was where I belonged I felt like I you know was capable of doing it so to get out there today get some takeaways watch the Bills practice write them down take some you know some video of them uh just just good to see the bills and like I said in the previous pod that ended abruptly uh the last time I watched the Bills play was the Chiefs game so to see the turnover uh to see the new you know see Bobby babage speak Curtis Samuel Kon Coleman and teron Johnson Taran Johnson excuse me after practice it was just all and all a good uh good day for me and another positive takeaway from today's practice the team remaining fully healthy all 91 rostered players out 10:59: 100% health/Defense shines there on the practice field participating in full capacity we saw Chase Claypool go down day one he returned day two cam Lewis went down day two he returned within day two was back out there on day three KJ hamler pulled his hamstring it looked like uh but it it does seem uh as if he's okay and he got out of practice all right so uh that's another positive takeaway the bills are 100% healthy and it is early in Camp we're not expecting uh players just to start dropping like flies or anything but knowing the injury struggles that this team has dealt with over the years it certainly is positive after three days of training camp they full compliment of players still available yeah good to see the team healthy still going in the day three KJ hamler had a little bit of a injury scare got tangled up with trell Bernard early on in practice but obviously he was able to return in okay and and seemed to Showcase some of his speed and his ability throughout practice and he was targeted a few times I think he came down with a reception so looking forward to you know KJ's progress and just yeah again the overall health of the team is very important and it's a very good side on the defensive side of the ball that side really stole the show at today's training camp practice few interceptions toward the end of Team drills Josh Allen being picked off Thrice by the bills defense uh the bills offense started hot during seven on seven a a number of big catches and and touchdowns but during 11 on 11 work it was really the defense showing out the first of three Allen interceptions cured by Taylor wrap who camped under an overthrown ball intended for wide receiver Mack Hollands uh and then Allen misfired again this time overshooting marz Valdez scantling before Christian Benford came over to snare the interception then finally a miscommunication between what appeared from my vantage point to be between Allen and Keon Coleman that resulted in a Kyer Elum interception uh he stepped in to secure the pick before returning it for a touchdown so some sloppiness for Josh Allen and the offense today and and some big moments for the defense kind of an iron sharpens iron situation both team uh both sides of the ball had their moments but I'd say the defense stole the show yeah I think Allen definitely had more trouble going through his progressions at times in terms of finding Guys open it felt like he was almost second guessing himself and it caused some Havoc for the offense in terms of I think they had again some trouble getting in a rhythm today I the Rhythm just wasn't to totally there on the other hand I I thought the defense the the DBS were on the right spot at the right time like Edwards had almost a near interception in an earlier team drill uh Taylor rap comes down with the pick being in the right spot and an overthrow from Allen to Matt Collins you have mvs on a deep post drout down the middle uh that I thought mvs broke free but Benford great recovery speed I think he kind of grabbed his arm so you probably might have called the pass interference there but nonetheless made the play and then elim again being in the right spot at the right time like you mentioned the misc miscommunication with Allen and in there so yeah overall I think it was a back and forth day that the offense during seven on seven which again that tends to be an advantage for the offense a seven on seven because no tackling no pads at this point and no pass rush right so it gives the offense a little bit of Advantage but the receivers were getting open and doing a really good job so all in all back and forth David I think for the team portion if we're talking about 11 on 11 I thought the defense whether it was that Oliver in the back field uh you know Matt Milano making a good play or DB making a nice breakup I thought the defense overall won the day today and maybe a slow start for the defense the first two days but really came alive today particularly toward the end and much of the defensive unit uh the starters remain the same Matt Milano out there we did see Dorian Williams mix in with the first team as well more on him later but the big news on defense was the rotation at safety continued today day one it was uh Demar Hamlin day two it was Mike Edwards and today it was the rookie Cole Bishop getting an opportunity with the first team and Bishop made a play bursting off the edge rushing the passer would have been a sack from Josh Allen's Blind Side and I think Bishop would have had an opportunity for a strip sack really showcasing that skill set that the bills imagined uh would materialize upon his entrance into the NFL uh just that great aggressiveness and and hard-hitting and and speed ability off the edge and you saw that from him today uh in that in that one circumstance uh so Bishop being thrown into the fire getting an opportunity in this safety rotation and it looks like it's going to be a three-man rotation uh throughout training camp at least the early stages to determine who's going to be the second starter beside Taylor rap who's remained a starter through the first three days of training camp yeah before I get to that breaking news from Adam schfer Tua TGA vioa signs a four-year $212.4 million contract extension so Bills fans I'm sure you're happy about that maybe the rest of the League's happy about that some people question what Tua can do can can he really elevate that dolphin's team so big news in the AFC East with Tua and his contract and that progress so there he's in to a deal but going back to the safety room I think it's good to see what Cole Bishop did today in terms of getting to the quarterback I thought coming out of Utah near the line of scrimmage attacking those gaps I thought that's what he did best and to to see that today where he had the opportunity to you know get to the quarterback is is a really good sign for for Bishop and like like the middle linebacker position we're really gonna I we're really going to see I think truly a Taylor rap or not Taylor R excuse me Cole Bishop Demar Hamlin and Mike Edwards battle for that second safety spot and you're seeing a rotation just like the middle linebacker spot last year each each player is getting a start on each respective day um you know they're doing a lot of mixing and matching obviously Bishop wasn't out there with the first team the whole the whole time but again to get the nod to start um I think that's a good sign and babich did speak about Bishop in the pre pressor today and just talked about he's a rookie it take it day by day and it's really up to him whether or not you know he gets to see the field this year and I spoke with another of the bills safeties Demar Hamlin after practice just a quick chat 13:47: Damar Hamlin's hunger while he was walking over to sign some autographs for some fans and really some candid comments in terms of his continued progress back from what he experienced last year and the year before with that scary situation in Cincinnati and he was really blunt when he said it Brandon Bean said during his comments on day one of training camp that during discussions with h with Hamlin he really came away with h the fact that Hamlin is very hungry to return to football action and and prove to everybody that is a that he's a capable uh player and someone capable of a contributing role on this team uh the words that Demar Hamlin used were uh expletive starving uh so so this guy is really raring to go and we've seen it throughout the offseason training program and the start of training camp uh getting his hands on on footballs and passes and and even recording an interception ception so Demar Hamlin really putting his uh foot on the pedal here as training camp kicks into high gear and I think you're going to continue to see him make plays out there and and show how how starving he truly is yeah big we we talked about it a lot the last couple days and let's go back at it again I think it's just a big year for Hamlin coming off what happened to him and how he kind of use last year to reset you know himself his mind you know everything about it physically mentally uh so to come back out here the hunger to be great you know he's he's a later round pick so that even adds to kind of the the strive to be great for for Hamlin and I'm looking forward to seeing him whether it's you know throughout camp in the preseason or during the regular season just take advantage of these opportunities he keeps getting because he keeps making the most of it and he's a guy that he played on this defense you know he has the most experience he's been here and I think that's really important for what sha mcder and Bobby bavage are expecting uh bavage spoke again about him in the pre-processor and really just emphasized that he's a he's a true Pro handled everything well he's not he can't speak for what Hammond's truly thinking but in his mind he's he's really there and he's he's put himself in position to fight for a starting spot uh at St John fiser yeah the quote from him uh I've got 13 14 starts in this defense trying to use that to an advantage but also help the other guys around me as well and you've seen that from Hamlin after practice really working with fellow defensive backs with extra work uh for a long period after each one of these first three practice practices so trying to spread his knowledge to some of the more inexperienced players within this complex system I think that's another uh bit of value that he brings to this defense just that experience and that tutelage that he can bring to some of the more uh inexperienced players but another player on defense that really 15:11: Ed Oliver maintains excellence shined today Ed Oliver and he's just been a menace throughout training camp he blew up a read option play Early in team drills and then a few plays later batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage was in the back field all day long winning his one-on-one battles Oliver is coming off an incredible season we talked about it yesterday how he's continued to shine and and that Trend continued today yeah Ed Oliver has just been since that contract man like everyone questioned him and everyone kep questioning was it worth the bills extending him for that amount of money and you had you know people on both sides kind of explain their point all valid I think you could still question for a top 10 pick Oliver's production in this league but ever since then and he said at the pressor like right after you signed he's like I want to prove to people that like this wasn't a mistake and it kind of that chip on your shoulder you know comes out of Houston not really a power five School uh again undersized some thought he was too small he had also some comparisons to Aaron Donalds of the world in terms of a pass rusher so there was a lot of you know you know black and white in terms of some people thought he was going to be the next great thing some other people thought well he's 200 size and we don't know if he'll be able to translate so I'm really looking forward to Ed the season and what he can become because I think there's still more there's still some more juice left in the the tank for him and again to get a hand on a ball like that to blow up a read option of course he's doing the he's doing the horse celebration after he what would have been a tackle for Los an just the energy he brings and the the talent he provides to that defense will be essential and we're going to walk up in our guy mookie Hawkins here our guest on right here right now joining us from St John fiser University moo nice enough to spend a little bit of time with us as he did the army crawl in here as he came in as we were uh as as we were already live I don't think anybody really noticed uh but moo we're talking about the defense and and and their big day today and the 17:55: Dorian Williams has a day next player that we were going to discuss is Dorian Williams he was out there with the ones today seemed to really fit in well especially in coverage I think somewhere he struggled a little bit last year but really starting to pick up his responsibilities and starting to Showcase his ability in this defense yeah he looked real comfortable out there it kind of made you uh go back to that Kansas City game where you know he was getting picked on a little bit but now it's just like the game you know slowing down for him and he was able to make some plays to get his hands on a few balls that was throwing his way and AJ your perspective on dorian's day uh a player that coming into last training camp was reported to have a chance at the middle linebacker job uh never really uh materialized he he was kind of pushed aside almost immediately uh but was kind of laying in the weeds All Season kind of learning his role and and really seems to be putting put that experience to good use to start this training camp yeah mooki and I were talking about this before we went live on Aon just how we we enjoy the combine in the senior build because we get to talk to guys before they you know make it to the NFL and then if they go to the bills you kind of get get to see them kind of live their Journey out live their dream out well Dorian Williams was one of the guys I was able to speak to at the combine a couple years ago and a guy obviously I'm always rooting for because he was when I got stranded um in an airplane going to to mobile for my first ever time I I got stranded in Mobile and I we watched Dorian Williams film this kid I met along the way uh he's now a scout at Florida International so shout out to him but regardless of the situation we just talked about Dorian Williams and his opportunity as a Bill's linebacker and what he could be you know Tain ad men is he gonna be resigned is he out so I think Dorian today just really again showed energy but also just in coverage like he was just sticky Bobby babish the energy that he showed to Dorian and I think it's about getting his confidence up because he's coming off a year where he was getting pulled off the field for AJ Klein and a Terell Dodson so a young guy with an offseason to kind of get his body right and learn the Playbook even more and nowhere to be I think he was in the right spots today and that's that's a trend upwards for I think a linebacker three spot with you got Nicholas Moro and Dion Jones two veterans in this league that been that have been consistent are really fighting for that linebacker three- roll behind you know uh malano and TR anybody else uh stand out to you today mooki on the defensive side of the ball we've talked about Ed Oliver how he's been a menace 22:19: DL talk/Elam intercepts Josh Allen throughout Camp Matt Milano is still coming along uh we talked about the interceptions that were made maybe you could elaborate on something or anybody else who who stood out to you today at Camp Greg rouso yeah I mean Greg rouso even AJ epza those guys on that edge right now is really pinning their ears back they look very comfortable they look like season veterans and you know it makes that expectation with them being on the edge you know very very promising you know you forget that we got Von Miller still on his team right so you know I I I think that those two guys are going to have a great season um I did see AJ epan on the inside sometimes you know very JJ wat likee but um I do you know was very impressed to see how those guys were able to dominate you know the line of scrimmage today Kier Elum picking off Josh like it was OTAs again you know so uh you know I like those guys and Dwayne Carter kind of surprised me how he was be beating up those right guards in a few uh few sets today out there so yeah I saw Dwayne Carter after practice interacting with some fans and you know those uh Flintstone water buffal hats that that a lot of the fans wear they made a custom one for Dwayne it it had his number 90 on on one of the horns he was interacting with an entire group uh that were wearing the hats they were taking photos and everything and he kept the Hat on like all the way out and continued to sign autographs for like 5 10 minutes afterwards and all the way to the locker room he kept the Hat on he is such a great sport such a great personality and to see him shine uh on the football field is something very encouraging as well and I want to ask both of you this uh AJ your first time seeing KY elim this offseason mooki you've seen him a little bit more uh Kyer trying to fit into that number three role had some ups and downs I think to begin training camp I think he was a little bit handsy has has been maybe his problem in the past but he he continues to Come Away with big he's just a big play maker uh and to see him continue to record interceptions certainly impressive yeah Kyer is a guy that again he I saw him a little bit during one-on-one reps and he he got a little handsy again and the he he broke up the pass but Jam o di the cornerback coach kind of called him over and you know gave him some tips but to see Kyer continue to stack those Splash plays and again they need him to be consistent players uh they need they need ker to be a consistent player because he's just so a for this defense this year they're asking him to step up into that cb3 role that Dane Jackson and Levi Wallace have held previously so it's all about consistency and if the splash plays they're a good thing but I hope to see Kyer just be a consistent player his confidence grow in this system and hopefully with you know a couple more opportunities this season he can really put his foot on the gas and make the most of it good when you looking at you know his first two seasons he really had to find his way on his own I mean you know you know John Butler you know the DBS coach at that time time they wasn't seeing eye to eye so to finally see you know coach uh D um come in and Coach him up like you said you know just coaching him up he never really got that out of John Butler you know in those instances so you see the confidence you see the playmaking ability and you know hopefully that can translate to a lot of plays being made on defense by ker when Once the opportunity uh you know comes but I think that can we say breakout year you know for ker this year I mean the confidence is there this is I mean you don't pick off job the way he's been picking him off I mean it's pick six yeah it's not just a you know a pick here it's a pick six he's driving on the ball and he is you know making plays so hopefully that could definitely translate into the preseason going into the regular season yeah it's a good point he's really been jumping these routes even though today he was kind of left alone after the miscommunication the receiver I think it was Coleman broke one way and the ball was thrown the other and it was just kind of waiting for him but there's been plays this season where he's cut in front of wide receivers and made some physical plays on balls and and Come Away with them or broken them up uh I think breakout season is certainly in line for KY elim you can really there's nowhere to go but up from last season uh not being able to get a jersey on game day now challenging for that number three cornerback roll quite the jump and a lot expected out of him uh so we'll continue to monitor his status but I think that's enough about the defense at least for now it was a really solid day for the defense and as we said I think they stole the show but there were plenty of fireworks from the offense particularly 27:28: Offensive playmakers make noise early on uh and we had a number of big catches early on you had the back shoulder throw to Dalton concade he's been so impressive just catching it at all levels of the defense and in all different areas at his feet uh right at his chest leaping up uh the back shoulder catch has just been so impressive uh to see K Kade flourish out there and then he had Keon Coleman come down with what was really a perfect throw from Josh Allen Rosell Douglas in coverage Coleman caught it uh down the seam and and ran it in for a touchdown Chase Claypool a tow dragging catch that I didn't get a great look at maybe AJ can uh tell you more about that Dawson Knox with a reception during early seven on seven and khil Shakir beat cam Lewis deep down the right sideline so a five for five start during a quick seven on seven period for Josh Allen that really set the stage for a hot start for the offense yeah do con k is just his ability and it translates that you saw it at Utah and you see it now his ability to just identify leverage nowhere to be on the field is just exceptional and like like Joe Brady said uh yesterday at his pre- pressor he goes you know d k can beat you downfield too you know because they he he was asked a question about where's the downfield threat of this offense because there's a little maybe concern about that and he thinks all these guys can do it there's not really one person that can't Coleman Samuel Shakir can do it so I think in kade's ability to just identify defenses before he's even the ball snapped know exactly where to be nowhere to go Allen and him being on the same page building that chemistry um he's just an exceptional football player and his IQ although his talent's there I think his mental his mental part of his game is just to step above all these guys and you pair that with his quickness off the field and his his ability to catch the ball and understand where to go it's just it's truly astonishing to see him just again every snap being open uh and Allen just finding him and putting on the money well I mean offense I'm still in awe because I like how you know you finally really get a chance to see Joe Brady's offense I mean throwing Into the Fire mid season you really didn't get a Gras of Joe Brady because it was still remnants of dorsy now we seeing you know a little bit more of Joe Brady style we seeing receivers going deep we seeing receivers going intermediate we seeing receivers going short so Josh has a full progression to really go through now rather than just Bombs over baddad with Dy right right so and then I like the the the variations of the Personnel groupings the bills are going to have so many mismatch problems because of the Weaponry that Josh Allen has I mean you got Dawson Knox and you got cancade you know so that's too tight is so that's G to leave defenses in bins depending where they line up I can't tell at all and depending on where the wide receivers line up we've seen all these wide receivers line up pretty much at every single spot uh along along the outside in the slot so I I think you're spot on yeah absolutely then let's not talk about the running backs too we have receiving running back so pick your poyson I mean you can spread James Cook Out you can have you know Curtis Samuel back there or you know vice versa so Ray Davis has been shining in the passing game thus far absolutely so a lot of weapons for Josh a lot of athletic weapons for Josh this is probably the most athletes he had you know in his career here as a bill yeah I think definitely the deepest wide receiver core Maybe they don't have that Elite Talent a Stefan Diggs and what Gabe Davis was early in his career it still remains to be seen if Keon Coleman can kind of replicate that in his first year but in terms of the depth and and the ability one through five or six and perhaps seven uh it it just is has been shining every single day at training camp and after the seven on seven per uh excuse me seven on seven period things kind of cooled off for a little while and then we saw Josh Allen uh throw a couple of interceptions but before that uh during the 11 on 11 work we saw a number of other big plays I think King Kade came down with another big catch uh Dorian Williams did uh have a pass break up on khil Shakir Justin shorter uh a grab that he was able to come down with in traffic and and control all the way through the ground uh Mike Edwards a near interception during that sequence but uh khil Shakira diving grab uh and then Cole Bishop that would be sack on Josh Allen so up up and down day and and and I I left one guy out Darren Evans a 75 yard touchdown run another running back you're talking about probably won't make the team but if they can get him back on the practice squad terms of his return ability he's been out there on some kick returns uh thus far during camp and and just that explosive run today up the middle uh he's starting to to Showcase his ability as well uh but moving on we'll start to discuss some of the post-practice press 33:00: Keon Coleman speaks post-practice/Coleman's ceiling availability Keon Coleman uh the the hilarious Keon Coleman meeting the media under the the tent beyond the practice field and AJ you were there for that presser just your top takeaways from what he had to say I know you were really locked into that one yeah first of all he does not like going in other people's rooms that's that's a private area so that that's the first order of business he's he's a he's a private guy but yeah he said he was asked about you know the dorms and playing games with guys he's like no I play my own game and just talk trash and you know I I kind of just watch other people play and talk trash so he he he's definitely got the uh personality that is very unique and very funny guy but yeah he just talked about you know he he's very tight with Joe Brady he already feels like the chemistry with Josh Allen there so all good signs from the rookie and one asked about how do you still feel like a rookie he straight up and said no um and then kind of explain the point that he just all he does is study and he studies the Playbook and going back to college that's really what taught him because in high High School it was really just half of the field there wasn't really an XYZ and then once once he got to college he was able to really understand the XYZ um and then now at this rate he just wants to learn every position because that's basically the motto of this offense and Joe Brady is we want every guy to learn every position and knowwhere to be so it may put more pressure on on an offense but again it's it's it's good to see that Coleman is kind of just bought into what the bills are doing offensively yeah mooki the fans get a look at the funny side of Keon Coleman through these pressers through the videos the bills put out but something that you notice at training camp is he is all business when he's out there on the field I mean he doesn't even really crack a smile he he is just out there focused as ever on the task at hand I think he really wants to expediate this learning process and and get into the mix soon as soon as he possibly can oh absolutely I you know he said he doesn't have comparisons I say he's a de Bryant 2.0 okay I'll give him that I think that I think that he's GNA have a a solid season I I I do predict him to have double digit touchdowns all right this year um you know because Josh Nery had a a real Red Zone Target yes you know so and you saw that catch he made in the Red Zone yesterday right right exactly just get straight to the issue um you know the bills basically can go 20 to 20 with anybody in the league you know they big ailles hill was struggling inside the red zone so now you have bigger targets to win those 50-50 footballs you know for you inside and translate more touchdowns rather than field goals so you know Keon Coleman he's going to add to that a mess match problem because again like you said they moving him around like a chest piece he lines up at big slot he lines up as the three at times he lines up outside he runs in motion so you know a guy you know to be 64 and to be you know very agile that way is a real Dynamic piece that Josh Allen has never had you know before so you know I'm really excited to see his growth in the first preseason well actually the Red and Blue scrimmage that will be coming up that'll be a definitely true teller to tape um him getting that experience against you know more seasoned Corners you know and getting off press coverage and and and figuring that stuff out so you know those are the type of questions that I asked him today you now how is he learning from you know playing against Christian Benford and rasul Douglas on you know certain Tendencies and and things that they do as Corners to try to bait receivers right so or knock them off their route so you know getting that experience is going to help him against the other Corners in the NFL when that time comes and he's a physical specimen his calves are like the size of my hamstrings I noticed that today Marquez Valdez scantling really really thin Cals and ankles Keon Coleman's are just massive that's got to help his leaping ability and really everything on I think with Coleman the the telling tale for his career and I think he'll be a good player I I think he'll be I mean double dig touchdowns will see he he definitely has the ability to do that for sure um but I think the telling tale with him and I speaking with a friend about this yesterday is will he be able to win underneath and break tackles and get yards to the catch because the the question about his his leaping ability and going down the field and getting the ball is already answered the can he develop that part of his game where he understands where to go again leverage where the defense is kind of like a d concave thing kind of pick some of that up and then that will really expedite him to become a star well I think he'll be a solid play in this league I think he'll be a physical player and I think he's a downfield threat but the next step for him I think and it may not it may not happen this season but it probably should happen eventually if he wants to become a star is being able to separate underneath intermediately and you know becoming that kind of player because right now I just don't think it's totally there but again with camp with time with Josh Allen I think there's not a better opportunity for him to do it than you know right now so we'll see what happens yeah and again there's no pressure for him because he has other wide receivers this is a deep wide receiver room not the biggest of names but this is probably the best wide receiver room that Josh Allen has had from you know that standpoint from one to like you mentioned seven who's to say will it be seven right so you know I think that I I say 10 touchdowns because Gabe Davis had eight his rookie season yeah right and I think Keon can run more routs than Gabe right and I think he'll be probably more heavily involved than than we saw Gabe uh Gabe perhaps is more point emph is again the bond game his rookie year before we keep going here on right here first team we talked about the safety rotation The Edge uh rotation dwan Smoot once again participating with the first team today and he's looked pretty good out there returning from the a killes injury with the Jaguars and I've been impressed with his burst off the edge and and really not showing any lingering effects the the buzzword that I've been using throughout Camp uh from that injury uh but one position that they have not done much rotating at in terms of the starting lineup offensive line a lot of talk about Cedric van pran Granger L Collins will clap any of those players uh in line to challenge for a starting role by all accounts and all appearances now that is not to be the case it appears the bills are settled in on their their five starting offensive linemen perhaps that could change this training camp goes here but typically when you see the same five players line up Time After Time with that first team it it it's telling you something yeah I mean even when you know I got locked in when when the o line and D line did those one on1 you had to see the tail with the tape and another name you didn't mention Dave Edwards left guy I I'm trying to tell you right now Dave Edwards with Deon Dawkins over there that is a hell of a side over that's a big left side over there so you know um he definitely If he if he keeps that up he could be a guy that could definitely be a pro bowler um the center right Conor mcgoverin y not you know you figure what we we do what how is it going to be um you know when he's going up against you know a three tack and snapping the ball and maintaining that block so you know he kind of answered that question so far and I think we've only seen one bad snap from him I think it came yesterday a low snap at Josh Allen's ankles other than that he's been pretty pretty uh Flawless yes yes and you know hey uh Spencer Brown looked good until he would have B Russo yeah you know that's that's the only thing that's probably like his Kryptonite right now is Greg Russo other than that Von Miller beat Spencer Brown earlier in the week and I saw a rep between them during team drills where Von put a good move on him and and brown was able to to kind of resettle himself and hold the block so uh definitely some up and down for brown throughout this he's had some challenges going up against Russo and and Aon Miller who I think is starting to show show uh some signs as well yeah I mean they do got some quality debt pieces when you look at that nobody that really is going to crack that first unit you know out of that but I do like the quality depth Richard garage he had an awesome day today especially on 101's uh he some good key blocks to Spring some good runs out there during 11s um so they do have some quality debt pieces you got uh you know Van de Mark uh he's he's solid as well you got Alec Anderson another uh interchangeable piece that could play center and guard so um those quality debt pieces up front is definitely a staple to this bills offense that nobody is really talking about yeah I think the bills are really intentional with that whole kind of govern David ever thing a lot of people questioned it especially with Cedric van pran Granger being selected out Georgia in the fifth round and I think many people questioned that but the intent and the intention always was you know McGovern at Center and I was at left guard that you SE no really mismatches with the the first unit there at offensive line and look when when Conor McGovern spoke and again I think this answered all the questions I had about the situation is you know he was he was so excited to play center and and play his natural position is what he said so I think Conor McGovern uh the offensive line I think in general looked good today now obviously there there was like some some Free Runners Dorian Williams gotten one time free called Bishop obviously got around the edge one time but for the most part the offensive line I think's done a good job um you know and the defensive line has too I they've got hands on the ball gotten pressure on Allen so I think it's been a good uh you know tug of- War there between the L line D line which is what you want try k i yeah and and that's what we saw today I think it was a prime example of that uh the offense having its moments the defense having its moments and I said this to AJ as we were walking off the practice field while on one side of the ball or the other you're you're never happy when the other side gets the better of you if you're looking at it from a a holistic perspective and from J or excuse me sea mcdermitt's point of view you have to love what you saw today both sides of the ball uh showing that ability and making big plays uh that's what training camp is for uh kind of that battle between the two sides of the ball you never want to see one side dominate the entirety of it the last takeaway that I have from practice before I open it up to you guys Tyler bass of perfect five for five six 40:20: Tyler Bass 6-for-6 on field goals for six on his field goals AJ do you have the the distances he started in close I think around 30 yards eventually went out to 50 and and bass struggled a little bit during offseason training uh program you you saw the reports of him going I think it was three for eight one day after a seven for seven day uh the time before but today it was another perfect day for bass with Sam Martin as his holder yeah so bass hit from 32 I have I maybe I got a little little bit too again I didn't have to great vantage point but from from where I was 32 32 41 43 46 and 50 so all all 50 and Below but again six or six a good start and a positive sign for bass a guy who again a lot of pressure on bass I think going into this season you look at how he ended last year so a good response from bass to make six or six and Sam Martin is the holder also a good sign to to see that kind of connection for the potential starting punter spot with Sam Martin being there to see that kind of go so cuz Martin was the one when bass was three for8 Martin was the holder while the seven for seven day during the off season it was the undrafted rookie Jack Browning so to see Martin and bass combined for a big day that certainly uh I'm sure is sitting well in Martin's mind right so there there's just again a lot a lot of pressure on bass but to come through uh in training camp on day three is is a good start for him and hopefully a building block can we say some pressure for sound Martin as well I mean Browning can hold you know you know when bills brought in the punt guy that was only not Kenny Ho right Browning can hold and he you know he has some solid kicks you know there towards the end and also experience kicking off does does Jack Browning so that that could play into him making the team potentially as well let's not forget that Sam Martin do carry what two point what three guaranteed right but hey if the bills can get rid of Stefon digs and carry a $30 million cap hit what two and a half million right all right AJ sabulski mooki Hawkins Alex brasy Right Here 47:18: Final takeaways/training camp questions yet to be answered Right Now podcast sponsored by forefathers Organics live in Rochester at at Bill's training camp at St John fiser University a great start three days a day off on Saturday we return on Sunday AJ your first day covering the team as a member of the credential media we ask you to begin this podcast but why don't you give us uh maybe some takeaways that we haven't mentioned here uh from whether it be the the practice field itself uh just being on the other side of the fence uh what did you see out there uh what did your ears tell just just your experience from today yeah just I think going back to the Curtis Samuel presser I think he spoke really well about kind of his usage and what he expects again he said he had ultimate trust in Joe Brady again they they're kind of rekindling what they had back in Carolina so getting on the right foot with him and really just he wants to be everywhere whether it's the you know in the back field or in the slot or at the a wherever he really wants to to be I think he's just going to be a do- it all to a guy which I think the bills have tried to emphasize with the Isaiah McKenzie and the Deontay Hardies in the past didn't get the most of them so they SP go and spent some some good money on a free agent in Curtis Samuel who has that experience he'll be 28 next month so again he's going into his eth season in the NFL so a lot of experience but yeah all in all great day beautiful weather uh again the fans were great and it was just it was a it was a surreal moment for me and yeah I'm just you know looking forward to this this bill season and see where they where they end up in this really competitive AFC did you get any shout outs from the crowd anyone recognize you any your buddies no no shout outs from the crowd better that way better that way you you being damn near seven foot from the crowd that's what I'm saying that that was the only thing I had to get through uh when we brought in AJ to the sports department at The bavia Daily News I'm I'm 5'8 on a good day and bringing him in and and knowing that I was going to have to walk alongside him at all these events that definitely worked against him but but he still made it made it through the process mooki how about you what' you see out there today uh mooki the king of the shout out everybody out there mman I get a few I get a few people I saw a few of my buddies I went to high school with I even seen a few players that are coaching you know a guy they play that plays right here at St John's Fisher so you know I can't I guess I can't go nowhere without somebody knowing who the hell I am I guess I'm popular on accident by default for coaching on the years but that's all good but the highlight of my day was seeing Mrs P out there right this Pula it was so awesome to see her you know you know you know look good and and just greeting the team out there I I know that gave you know the team and everybody that was you know at Camp you know like a great big old like man it was just real excited to see it it was it was like it was like a hug for like thousands of people it seemed like everyone came together it was just one big hug everyone just feeling good and and tears were flowing I feel like for for a few players so yeah I mean that that was just such a great moment absolutely so yeah that's that's what I take for cam we are off to yes any plans tonight uh moo you going out uh uh in in Rochester you headed back to Buffalo you said you might have some plans to go to Syracuse what do you got planned tonight tonight I'm going back home uh the bises are playing so I may get a little glimpse of that but after that as just downtime uh I'm enjoy the day off tomorrow and then we back up here Sunday then I'll probably take uh some of my my my My Little League guys up to Syracuse and do some scouting cool what do you looking forward to from the rest of Camp what are some questions that still have yet to be answered in your mind some uh positions that have yet to be worked out or just some players that have yet to pop that you hope uh do by the time training cus through I want to see a little bit more of clayful and KJ hamler because that's your six7 battle right I want to see more of that who's goingon to who's going to show me that they're really six in S I still feel that KJ hamler and and Chase clay are still like six say 6B it's really not a seven there's nobody really like really pulling away from that six spot right so I'm really trying to figure that out like when who's going to really show themselves as that six guy how about you AJ uh what are you looking forward to from the rest of Camp you'll be back out here down the road but uh some questions that have yet to be answered in your mind perhaps yeah I think it's just for me that the safety position is still just the looming question um that that's just the big thing for me what do they do there who takes their responsibility does Bishop actually have a chance you know we'll see if he gets another opportunity next week to to get with the ones but yeah I think it's just that safety position um again the just the concern at the edge I know I know Russo and and opessa have flash but I just wanted to see them consistently do it and maybe that won't be till the regular season where we can really truly see that but just that ad was smoo bavage was very fond of smooth said he's a he's an old you know like a what was he was trying to say like an old school kind of guy a football player energy he brings to the room so just Smoot uh you know tool Hill can they who who wins that kind of battle and javant Solomon I think had a nice rush today against the 1D offense so he was he was flashing a little bit so just that the end room and safety room for me are the two biggest questions I think concerns so that that's probably the question marks for me yeah you touched on what I'm looking forward to most as training camp uh progresses here I can't wait for the pads to come on and to see these guys in the trenches start to do their work we saw some one-on-ones as mooki mentioned the off offensive defensive lineman going at it today but it's nothing near once they get the pads on and you see them in that those one-on-one situations and that's where the men are separated from the boys and that's where some positions start to be decided along the interior I'm interested to see if Javon Solomon at his size can be a contributor and and someone who can develop into a pass rushing specialist uh whether or not Gable steveson has any chance in this league at at his size and then to see some of these depth guys guys on on the offensive line of Cedric vanran Granger who has uh plenty of accolades coming out of college interested to see him start to mix it up and and just that uh starting five offensive line truly start to be tested uh in some full contact situations and just can't wait to hear the the pop of the helmet the pop of the shoulder pads and it's good to see football being played but we still truly aren't there until you like I said start to hear uh the pop of the pads coming up here at St John fiser but for mooki AJ my name is Alex thank you for joining us here right here right now live Buffalo football talk presented by forefathers Organics we will see you next time peace out
