Donald Trump says he will not participate in another debate with kamla Harris he just posted that on social media it has been 2 days since their first presidential debate both kamla Harris and Donald Trump are back on the campaign Trail now both are in Key Battleground States the cbc's Chris Rees has the details from New York all right here we are again hey Andrew so this afternoon K Harris will be in North Carolina it's a very important state for the Democrats they lost this state to Trump uh back in 2016 and 2020 but the Harris campaign is hoping that there's a way that she can flip that when Obama won the state very narrowly in 2008 he did it with the support of African-Americans young people Urban and Suburban voters and so Harris is hoping to use some of that Playbook so it's no surprise that she's going to be in Charlotte North Carolina which is the biggest city in the state also home to a branch of the University un of North Carolina Obama lost North Carolina in his reelection bid I should mention that as well Andrew because that tells you how precarious the support is for Democrats in that state meanwhile Donald Trump uh won North Carolina would vote from rural areas and the white working class uh Fresh Off The Debate Harris is campaigning on her promise to grow the middle class to help firsttime home buyers and new parents and really to tell this state that voted for Trump uh to choose her brand of leadership instead Trump meanwhile will head to Arizona tonight another Battleground State and a border St state so immigration is a big topic here this is one of Trump's signature issues he repeatedly blames Biden and Harris for the record breaking influx of illegal migrants into the country in the last few years he has promised to shut down the border and to mobilize Mass deportation now all of this just tells us Andrew that with some 50 days left to the election we're see a lot of battleground campaigning especially from the Harris campaign given that she is so new to the race and has had a very limited time to convince swing voters that she's different from Biden and and a viable alternative to Trump one message that Democrats are spreading is to not get complacent uh even with some of the excitement surrounding their new candidate we can count on Donald Trump to challenge the results of the 2024 election as he has every day the 20 20 election we need to win decisively not by a tiny thin margin so if folks were excited and energized by vice president Harris's compelling powerful performance on the debate stage in Philadelphia they need to get up get out volunteer and get engaged and that was exactly the message that we heard once again from Taylor Swift as we've been talking about she gave the endorsement heard around the world she said she's voting for Harris she used her platform again last night at the video music Awards urging people to vote she mentioned her boyfriend Travis not kamla Harris just a little minor detail to put out there uh but she did tell her her supporters and her fans uh to go out to register uh to make their voices heard the cbc's Chris Reyes in New York
