Intro [Music] hey everyone my name is emil and you're watching news break coming up on today's show the paralympics are here a music video all about school of the year and meet these rolling strolling dogs but before we get into any of that why don't you hit that subscribe button Opening Ceremony has your spot on the couch been getting cold since the olympics finished well you better get comfortable again because the tokyo paralympics are here and the opening ceremony is tonight here's leela with more yes if the olympics left you with a craving for more multi-day global sporting events in specialized disciplines where you can cheer on australia from the comfort of your home have i got news for you the paralympics are starting yes you can watch the opening ceremony tonight the theme of the ceremony is united by emotion just like the olympics it'll be held at tokyo's olympic stadium without fans present and these are our flag bearers table tennis player denny de toro and dual wheelchair rugby gold medalist riley batt just to be able to go out and go out and open ceremony paralympics represent your country go behind the flag it's a special moment the pair who are also captains of the australian team will be the only australian athletes to march because of covert 19 precautions with covert numbers high in australia and japan it's been a tough journey for our 179 athletes to get to tokyo and they've had to take some extra precautions they all have to be vaccinated can't hang in communal areas and the team will clean their own rooms the games will feature 22 sports across 539 events including two new sports badminton and taekwondo just like the olympics there'll be limited spectators because of the covert 19 pandemic so make sure you're cheering on from home for the next couple of weeks let's head to the uk now where the changing of the guard is back at buckingham palace it's the first time we've seen it since the coronavirus pandemic began and it typically draws huge crowds of tourists the changing of the guard dates back hundreds of years and is all about showcasing military tradition and ceremony we're about to meet some kids who go to mount isa school of the year but maybe it should be called mount eiser school of rock they recorded a music video about long School of the Air distance learning and life in remote australia kale caught up with some of the stars of the show today mustering on horseback and zooming around on motorbikes that's a day in the life for kids at mount isa school of the air [Music] [Applause] they've recorded this song called biggest classroom in the world with the help of aussie singer-songwriter josh arnold and i got to catch up with some of the stars of the show hey how are you guys so tell me how did the song come about well the teachers wanted to make a music video for the school of the air and then they contacted john josh arnold and just came back and got this good music video okay they make it sound easy but all of these guys traveled about five hours to meet up in mount isa to help write the song film this music video and record their pink voice this country is our home well i was definitely a bit nervous before i went and recorded my voice i was i felt like super embarrassed and nervous and all that and then when i actually did i was like oh i want to do that again because that was really fun it was really fun um getting your own voice recorded i'm sort of famous now so like yeah it was good [Music] Feel Good Stories ladybugs chocolates sunsets the color pink and green together all of them just have positive feel good vibes just like these next stories presenting lada and boston the rolling strolling dogs these guys got in an accident and vets thought that might be the end for them but they were adopted by a couple who take care of disabled pets and now they've set them up with shiny new wheelchairs so they can live their fun dog lives to the fullest it's time to meet some kids in india who are doing some pretty important work they're going door-to-door talking to people about covert vaccines and showing them how to book in so far they've helped 13 people register for the vaccine not a bad effort at all chances are you've spent at least one birthday in lockdown over the past year just like helen from melbourne who was keen to celebrate his fifth birthday but another lockdown hit so his parents left a box in the street for people to leave positive messages we got so so much more than we could have ever dreamed of people dropped off sweets homemade art and most importantly a mysterious letter from a pirate we got a letter from a legit pirate and we know it was the real deal because the edges were all burnt then it came wrapped up in a scroll and it was hidden in our fence who knew pirates was so sweet alright sweet that's all the feel good stories from us we'll catch you tomorrow
