Intro coming up on Mountain news this morning a woman almost died as police began to investigate a shooting that involved four people in two cars and one company is offering a large reward for copper Kentucky county it happened early Monday morning near Somerset police say a woman was shot while she was being followed by another car there were three people in the car police believe the shots came from and there's questions over who exactly fired the shots wit's Phil Pendleton has been going through the complex case and has more on the investigation like that was completely unnecessary Kayla strong says friends of hers were driving down Stewart's Lane near Kentucky 192 early Monday morning when someone in another car fired shots at them so they shot at the vehicle and um they hit her in the shoulder which Ricochet and punctured her L Asus Simpson told investigators that he was trying to locate a stolen car according to court papers he brillan Greer and Christian Helton were all in the car that the shots were fired from and all are charged with attempted murder what's running through my mind is you just gave your life away for 20 years 25 years for a van and a gun to our van according to the arrest citation all three suspects are claiming that they are not the ones that fir the shots brillan Greer in that citation also stating that she did see a handgun in the back seat and that she also said that she handled it at one time Simpson also told police that hton said that he was going to kill whoever took a car that belonged to them strong says the fact that it turned to violence is ridiculous given what she was told about the car their intention was to return the vehicle back to the original owner so they had every intention of getting this situation taking care of all three suspects in jail said they did not want to talk to us about the allegations against them in palaski County Phil Pendleton WMT Mountain news police say the victim was taken first to Lake Cumberland regional hospital then to UK treat for treatment of a gunshot wound to the shoulder area new developments in the ambr bradlin murder case the attorney for her accused murderer could be facing charges last week attorney Randy Martin O'Neal filed a motion to dismiss charges against his client Michael Kent mckenny the motion cited evidence from three cases that could not be corroborated by the court attorneys for the Commonwealth are now calling for O'Neal to be held in contempt of court if he is unable to provide copies of the cases he referenced a death investigation complicity to murder Medical Examiners Report we now know the cause of death for a Henry Clay High School student in Lexington the fyed County coroner says a fight did not contribute to the death of 17-year-old Emanuel motti motti died in May in May after having a medical emergency in a classroom the medical examiner's report says motti died due to a seizure complicating a ruptured vascular malformation there were no drugs or alcohol present at the time of death and no no trauma he says the manner of death was Jerry Dunn Arrested natural a Laurel County man is facing charges related to child sexual abuse material officials with kp's electric crime Branch arrested 58-year-old Jerry Dunn yesterday he was arrested as a result of an internet crime against internet crimes against children investigation Dunn was charged with 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor done is in the Knox County Detention Center in 2024 alone there Copper Thefts have been more than 60 copper cable thefts in Clay County kinetic officials estimate these copper thefts have affected more than 350 customers in and around Clay County they are offering a reward up to $10,000 to anyone who can give them information that leads to an arrest wmt's Caroline Mueller tells us how these thefts can affect you connectic spokesperson David faggard says copper theft is not a victimless crime it affects First Responders their ability to communicate inside the communities and with other life-saving agencies and services cable theft increases costs on companies governments residences and small businesses this has been true for owner of Pantry Shelf Susan Brotherton she says their phones were down all day Friday and back in may they were down for 9 days which resulted in them losing business from calling orders we were at least onethird down of our normal business yet I still work all my people they depend on me for their pay on Friday I can't say oh you all stay home cuz we don't have a phone today I can't do them that way she says with no way of knowing when they will or will not have service she bought an additional cell phone with another provider but that's hard to do we've had the same phone number since 1967 and have our customers have it memorized faggard says it's hard to say what the motive is Behind These crimes what we think is happening and what some law enforcement officials have told us is that when the economy is having a rough time and people are having a rough time some of these things thieves will turn to to theft and they will um specifically focus on copper because the cost of copper is up right now faggard says this is dangerous to the thieves and the public there is a risk of electrocution for the thieves themselves and potential hazards to the public due to exposed cables and compromised infrastructure he encourages anyone who sees wires down to report the issue immediately officials with Kinetic say they are just some instances fiber optic cables are being cut and the copper is left and they do not not know why they encourage any information that could help find the answer be reported to authorities a Floyd
