welcome back to another episode of rock boys football continuing our freshman Spotlight Series going back to the 2024 class and highlighting some of my favorite freshman and guys that I think can be differen makers in the 2024 college football season going down to College Station and talking about five star Terry busy who when he committed to Texas A&M we all kind of had the same conclusion and that is all right he's going to play defensive back during his time at Texas A&M but at the end of the day you got to figure out ways to get the football into Terry bus's hands whether it's on offense whether it's in special teams and I think throughout the last or the first couple of weeks of fall Camp it was mostly going to be on special teams and I think a lot of Texas ANM fans were certainly okay with that but now with the news about Ruben Owens we hopped on Sunday night right when the news broke and kind of said and Terry bus's an option for this Texas A&M offense I've had 48 hours to kind of marinate on that idea and I'll say this I am all aboard the hype train for Terry busy getting somewhat involved within this Texas A&M offense at the end of the day Terry bus's too talented not to utilize with the football in his hands and again we know he's going to be a very good special team member for Texas A&M but with the depth all of a sudden being really thin at running back had missing Ruben Owens for the 2024 season I think that opens the door and makes lots Texas A&M to have maybe a little bit more of a clear picture and reason to play Terry busy on the offensive side of the football want to get into a few reasons why I think Terry busy can be an immediate contributor on the offensive side of the football dive into a little bit of the high school film talk about Terry busy as an athlete before we get into it as always one would love to hear from the Texas A&M fans this has been a a concept that I think's picking up some steam within the Texas A&M fan base I read the message boards I've been on Twitter a lot of Texas A&M fans I think coming around to this idea I would love to hear how you guys would use Terry busy within this Texas A&M offense and of course if as a high school Prospect this was a kid that you know played the quarterback position because he was the most talented football player on the field they wanted the ball in his hands every single play he can push the ball down the field we all know he's not going to play quarterback but I think what not enough people realize this was a kid that ran for over 5600 yards during his high school career 98 rushing touchdowns averaged over 10 yards per carry what separates Terry busy which kind of makes me buy into this Terry busy playing some offense for Texas A&M is not only is Terry busy just electrically fast and runs a 10 six and 100 meter dash one of the fastest player players that will be on the football field you go back into the film and you just appreciate how comfortable he is with the football in his hands it's not only the straight line speed it's understanding what's in front of him reading block Concepts making people Miss in space Terry bus is not just a one-trick pony in terms of the speed I would argue that his best calling card as an overall athlete is his ability to make people Miss in the change of direction that he possesses I think that's why we're so high on him being a really good cornerback as well now you fast forward to Terry busy enrolling with Texas A&M starting his career off in Fall Camp you are starting to hear the rumors and the buzz around what Terry bus is doing in the return game believe he took one back in the scrimmage for a touchdown that's not necessarily a surprise for a lot of Texas A&M fans we are kind of getting that knowledge that we kind of knew that Terry bus electric with the football in his hands now all of a sudden you fast forward and say and Texas a&n is pretty thin at the running back position specifically with scholarship guys with Ruben Owens going down you have Le'Veon moss and Mari Daniels two guys that we feel pretty comfortable about you have EJ Smith who I again think is a much better running back than he gets credit having dealt with some of the injuries and just a gross Stanford offense over the last couple of years but only three scholarship running backs heading into the 202 before season that's then especially in the SEC I think the question is how can we replace some of that expected production and workload that Ruben Owens was going to have and I think it first goes to Amari Daniels and Le'Veon Moss who probably were GNA kind of split that backfield 33 33 33 between those three running backs it probably goes a little bit more to Le'Veon moss and Amari Daniels now EJ Smith's gonna be incorporated in that running back room you still want to figure out ways to replace some of that workload that Ruben Owens was gonna have I think Terry busy can be one of those guys and I think it starts with the offensive coordinator coach Colin Klein where you look at him having Duce vaugh at Kansas State over the last couple of years Duce vaugh was 56 175 this unique athlete who was electric with the football in his hands not necessarily that prototypical running back build Duce vaugh ran for over 3600 yards 34 touchdowns also caught for over 12200 yards during his time at Kansas State Colin Klein has some experience using just these Dynamic athletes in terms of incorporating them within the offense and I think that's the sign of an elite offensive coordinator that ability to look at your roster identify The Playmakers and then just figure out ways to get them involved in spots where they can be successful I think Coach K Klein can do that with Terry busy now I'm not getting up here and saying Terry busy needs to have 15 to 20 touches a game on the offensive side of the football I think we all agree with that that being said 5 to s maybe even three to five at the end of the day Terry Busy has that ability to change a game anytime he has the football in his hand so can you use Terry busy in some creative ways on the offensive side of the football that becomes a really pressing question that I would love to see Texas A&M go to in the 2024 season I think another thing that makes you a little bit more confident and Terry busy committed to Texas A&M probably weighing 170 PBS soak and wet he's up to 195 pounds in he looks the part I mean he looks like a guy that can take some contact within the SEC I think that's another storyline that is you know pushing me Terry busy involved in this offense and you go to just some of the senior film I'm sure many Texas A&M fans have seen a film on Terry busy a couple things that stand out one when you look at Terry buy running the football the thing that stands out to me the most is just how he navigates traffic I mean this is a kid that has really good feel in terms of having the football in his hands understanding where the lanes are and making people Miss in and out of his Cuts extremely extremely well and then again when he has the ability to turn it up in a straight line and you take a bad angle and Terry busy is going to take it to the house he's one of the fastest players on the football field but you continue to work through the film of Terry busy and say hey he knows exactly what he's doing I mean he knows how to read what's in front of him he know really good contact balance too again Terry bus is not just this frail Ball Carrier that's going down at first Contact really really good contact balance has a really good feel for staying on his feet you start looking at some of the film for Terry bus and say he wasn't just an elite athlete which he certainly was he also has really good feel when he has the football in his hands and I think that what that's kind of what makes me a little bit more excited about Terry busy again he's a guy that can change a game anytime he has the football in his hands and you kind of pull up the depth chart for Texas A&M and say how do we expect this Texas A&M rushing attack to look like again I think the first kind of conversation you have is Le'Veon Moss Amari Daniels they are going to have a bigger workload than what we expected with Ruben Owens healthy now with Ruben Owens unhealthy I think EJ Smith kind of emerges and probably gets maybe 10 to 15% of the carries I don't expect him to have a significant role because I think Le'Veon Moss andari Daniels are better running backs that being said I'm monitoring EJ Smith because I think he's a lot more talented than people might give him credit for that being said with only three scholarship running backs how do you manage some of that workload I think Terry busy could be the answer because at the end of the day what was Terry bus's role going to be as a freshman for Texas A&M he probably wasn't going to play much on the defensive side of the football year one he's goingon to be a really good defensive back sometime down the line but probably wasn't going to factor in significantly as a freshman Terry bus's role was mostly going to be in special teams now can you take Terry busy during during practice give him a little bit more reps and opportunity on the offensive side of the football get him comfortable it doesn't have to be with the full Playbook it doesn't have to be with every single run concept that Texas A&M is going to run but maybe three to four packages maybe Terry busy being a wildcat quarterback just in terms of finding creative ways to get Terry busy involved and again my confidence in this kind of resides in coach Colin Klein being a mastermind in terms of using his offense uh Talent on the offensive side of the football I think there's a lot of reason to believe that Terry busy gets touches on the offensive side of the football how much and what it looks like that's what you pay Co coach Colin Klein the big bucks for certainly not me talking to a microphone in my basement that being said I think Terry bus is gonna play on the offensive side of the football and we were looking for ways to get him involved I think we got our answer now that Ruben Owens is going to miss this 2024 season I think a fascinating storyline obviously don't want to Overlook the Ruben Owens injury and just cast him aside I love Ruben Owens was my pick to lead this team in rushing yards hopefully he gets back healthy ready to rock and roll in 2025 but Terry busy you know could be an answer for Texas A&M on the offensive side of the football we'll wrap it up
