Cody we're going to continue honoring the teams that played for the national title last year because oh yeah the other team that played for the national title is also in the Big 10 now but a very different looking Washington team than the one we saw against Michigan new coach basically new starting lineup they lost 20 starters off this team kayin abor at Alabama now Jed fish comes in from Arizona what are we to make of the Huskies yeah it's a big o when you look at who returns from that starting lineup man I mean you lose them on both sides of the ball too right and and not just to the draft but the portal got you a little bit you know you lose big game changers on both sides Jabar muhamad leaves to go to Oregon Corner Parker brailsford goes to Alabama I mean offensively you know they bring in Will Rogers who's got a ton of experience jedf fish also brings his guy over and Demon Williams the 2024 quarterback that's signed with Arizona out of high school he brings him over I like him bringing Jonah Coleman from Arizona in the running back room um but I will say it's a little bit disappointing because I think you're more excited about what jetfish brings if he was able to get his guys from Arizona right I think and T-Mac you'd be sitting there going exactly right totally different conversation but you know I I think offensively they'll struggle it's going to take some time defensively I think inevitably you're going to see a drop off in Talent he brought some pieces in the portal to try and recoup what they lost but you know they also bring in Steve Bel as the defensive coordinator which is exciting but I think this is a bigger mountain to climb um that it's not going to take one year to fix in my opinion it's this could be a tough this could be tough sledding for Washington here's my here's my thing about this they did keep a lot of the backups from last year's team and dor had done a good job stalking that roster like he he knew what he was doing and so I think about what happened with Jed fish early at Arizona now they very much struggled at first but the situation they took over to Arizona was absolutely dire nothing like like Washington wasn't anywhere near as bad and so I think this is going to be more like year two at Arizona where they did start to be very competitive and you could see the seeds of what was coming so the question is you know against this schedule what does that look like and look they they don't have to play Ohio State but they do have to play Michigan and Oregon right they do have to go to Penn State so I don't think you you look at them as contenders for the Big 10 title right off the bat but the ceiling I got them at nine and three because I have some faith in Jed fish um I don't know what the quarterback situation is going to be I'm assuming it's Will Rogers but I've been told watch out for demon Williams he can play now he fits more of what he what he's had at Arizona like him are very similar types of players I think Will Rogers maybe gives them a safer option at quarterback he's a guy that's played a bajillion games he takes care of the football he can come in learn the system quickly so I think that's where maybe you lean coming in year one and say like hey guys we just want someone that can keep the foot on the gas pedal and just get us keep us going in the right direction the thing that I think actually works in their favor the most looking at this schedule they're first five games of the year are extremely winnable like that is a team that can go five and0 going in hosting Michigan in week six so yeah I think if they're able to do that I I agree I think the ceiling could be nine and three if they struggle in those first five games and they can't seem to find their footing going into Michigan I think this is a team that might sniff 500 maybe six and six yeah I had five and seven as the floor just in case it's it's very bad or there's the chemistry is bad because again you just don't know when you're putting this much new on the field but I am I I would imagine it's on the higher end this thing because I I give jedf fish the benefit of the doubt because look nothing's gonna be worse than what he took over at Arizona nothing that was completely agree that was as dire as it gets so yeah it's a it's tough sleding over there thank you so much for watching just a reminder subscribe to this channel right here so you never miss an episode episode of Andy Staples on three and oh by the way watch all the other great videos on the on three Sports YouTube channel
