two-lane wins convincingly in their opener over SLU 52 to nothing the wave offense lit up the Lions courtesy of a near Flawless performance by Darien Mena The Freshman quarterback threw for 205 yards two touchdown passes and only had two incompletions he's um very calm he's very confident he's got really good Poise um you know I I I think the biggest thing there there's going to be some things that come these next couple weeks or the opponent's going to maybe make you speed up and so we've got to prepare for that um but uh but I thought he really handled the the first game um really well for you know a guy ever played in a college game first start I mean not just talking about a first start come like that never played in a college game all right like that's a big deal and I and I think he handled it really well this is what you live for really um I've been a competitor my whole life and you know just to play against another team like you work all spring all summer to to play the first game and you know it was really exciting uh especially in front of everybody we had a pretty good turnout tonight uh to have everybody out there and just being out there with my teammates all that it was just a great feeling all night so uh super happy with the way we competed Ty Thompson also had success at quarterback he rushed for two touchdowns in the contest from Uptown Garland Gillan Fox8 local first
