all right guys let's go ahead and see this injury that Kevin Durant got right here honestly it doesn't look so bad but Butler goes around Curry steps up for the shot and gets blocked by Ben Simmons of course as Butler falls down he falls on Katie's leg contacts his right knee and it has a sort of twist to it Durant grabbed at his right knee and then stayed in the game briefly but then went into the locker room for an evaluation with 36.6 seconds remaining in the third quarter the Nets did not want to take a chance on it and they didn't allow KD to return to the game and by the way still of course Brooklyn with their hot streak they won 102-101 now a little bit more on this the Nets medical team diagnosed it as a MCL sprain the team also announced Monday that he will be reevaluated in just two weeks and if you guys remember I think it was a little less than a year ago Durant suffered an mCP sprain that that kept him out for six weeks but according to ESPN's Adrian woljanorowski there is optimism that he will be sidelined for less time with his knee issue than currently expected and the current expectation is that he's going to miss nothing more than a month total so I'd just like to say congratulations Nets fans this doesn't seem to be too big of a deal to derail the Nets chances going into you know All-Star Weekend or playoffs or just simply the rest of the season now just to highlight a couple of things Durant had 17 points in 30 minutes that game uh on the Sunday game he did pass Dominique Wilkins for number 14 on the NBA's career scoring list so that's pretty nice uh the nice thing was that Durant was able to wait around for his teammates after that game where he got injured and he was able to you know dap up all of his teammates and walk them into the locker room without too much of an issue coach Vaughn said that he did not ask KD how he was feeling but Kyrie did actually mention it uh during his post game where he said I believe Katie's in good spirits so it's good I don't think it's going to be too big a deal I think there's other injuries to be more worried about like ACL tears of course but with how good the Nets are playing currently even if Katie is out I think they've done just enough to kind of keep themselves afloat but I would like to say and I'm not sure if you guys saw this but Durant took two big hits in the second half of that game too he also grabbed at his knee after being called for an offensive foul on a drive where he collided with Kyle Lowry at 7 57 left in the third quarter now either way considering that it is a 82-game season and that KD is a little bit on the older side for basketball I don't think his injury is going to keep him out too long just like they're kind of mentioning maybe a month or less to be honest he probably is already okay but I think they just want to maintain them and load manage them for the next few weeks so that they could sustain his durability for the remainder of the season and the playoffs now when the Nets lost Durant last season the Nets went 5-16 including a 11 game losing streak obviously just showing how important Durant is to this team regardless however losing Durant on Sunday night this season the Nets still managed to pull a win even after being down nine points in the fourth quarter and they actually ended up picking up their 18th win in the last 20 games so yeah you know KD obviously is very important he's the MVP of the team but I think they have enough nice pieces to kind of keep themselves afloat like I was saying now I will say that Kyrie and others of course are going to have to make up for the 30 points that KD provides on a nightly basis there isn't a single person on the Nets that could actually fill Durant's role adequately but Brooklyn has depth to at least partially make up for his loss production now that he is going to be sidelined for you know again a month let's say but don't get me wrong the Nets are still crushing it by all means they've been on a hot streak and it's going to buy them some time going into the all-star weekend going into the rest of the seasons so Nest fans just be optimistic everything's going to be good we're going to welcome Katie back I actually don't have any doubts in my mind that the Nets could end up being the first or second seed in the Eastern Conference so let me know what you guys think in the comments below
