all right and we are back here on the gsmc football podcast and for the fourth part of the show we are going to talk about you know some of the injuries around the NFL guys that you know maybe might not be on track to play in week one um so I just wanted to talk about that uh so obviously Nick chub who I brought up before uh you know we went to break he's definitely one of those guys that could be out week one and maybe not back you know uh till like you know maybe the third or fourth week possibly well I I don't know I'm just saying that but um he's of course recovering from the knee injury that he suffered last year the horrific knee injury um and right now he is on the pup list there's no timeline for his return he could end up missing at least the first four games of the season if he's not activated by the start of the season so um and I know that's probably the same thing with uh Jonathan Brooks another player that I've talked about he's recovering from Return ACL the running back The Young running back for the Panthers um so uh he's targeting a return within the first month of the season but yeah he's likely to miss you know the first four games if he's not activated so a couple of running backs there you know for the Browns they still have Jerome Ford uh Deontay Foreman returned to practice uh after his scary injury um so those guys are going to have to you know pick up the slack for chub if he's out and Jerome Ford did a nice job last year filling in for chub and then for the the Panthers you know you got chuber hubard and my sanders um to take on the workload you know Jonathan Brooks um is not back you know for the start of the season so uh and you know I I came wait to see you know Nick chub back on the field and I I hope he really bounces back because I do like him as a player and that was just such a horrific injury that happened last year and he's a guy that you know during you know his time in the NFL has stayed relatively healthy you know has has missed some games but nothing major like what he suffered back in week two last year and I know he had um an injury in college uh which you know was um significant but you know in the NFL he's been he's been able to stay healthy uh for the most part up until last year so I can't wait to see him back on the field also DeAndre Hopkins he may at least Miss week one we'll see if that he gets he ends up getting put on the pup list but yeah he's going to miss he may miss week one um but yeah this injury uh the time timeline for him is four to six weeks uh Josh DS of the Colts going into his second year so he suffered a high ankle sprain uh he's targeting a return in the first month of the season but he's likely to miss week one um you know they gave Michael Pitman the Colts a big contract uh they also drafted another receiver as well Colts got a young team and that's a team that uh you know I'm excited to you know see what they could do especially with you know Anthony Richardson coming back back healthy um TJ hackinson you know got hurt late in the year last year torn ACL and MCL no timeline for his return remains on the pup list and may not be ready for the season opener and we'll have to keep an eye on that as well as Tyler higgy another tight end uh for the Rams he got hurt late in the season same thing torn ACL and MCL no timeline uh for him may be May struggle to be ready for the start of the season so um you know uh for the the Vikings I think it's more significant because Tyler higgy is is a solid tight end but you know the Rams they got they got Cooper cup and and pukan akua and you know Kiren Williams coming out of the backfield and um you got Matthew Stafford who's an experienced quarterback but for the Vikings you know you got Sam darnold and you know JG McCarthy eventually takes over you know you want to have hackinson out there you know one of the experienced guys guys you know to help you know the young guy along now of course they still got Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison but you know the the quarterback situations are a little different with those two teams and T.J hackinson is more of a a significant piece in that offense as opposed to uh Tyler higgy but you know you want to have both of those guys out there um you know for the Dolphins you know they're waiting on Bradley chub to recover from his injury as well as Jaylen Phillips uh they both uh suffered injuries um Bradley chub had the ACL tear no timeline for his return as well as for Jaylen Phillips as well because I I believe he tore his Achilles against uh the Jets last year um in the uh Black Friday matchup but yeah those are you know those are significant pieces on the defensive side of the ball you know and um the Dolphins their defense has gone through changes so you know they're they're hoping to get those guys back soon and the 49ers got a couple of players themselves you know Dre Greenlaw is going to miss you know part of the Season you know with his Achilles Terror that he suffered in the Super Bowl and then you also have uh uh hanga uh T talanoa kuanga I hope I pronounce his first name I I I can pronounce his last name it's his first first name because everybody because anytime I hear him make a play he always hear hanga his last name but uh yeah he's still recovering from his ACL injury from last year uh a significant piece on the defensive side of the ball as well uh he's likely to miss the start of the season so yeah those are two key pieces on the defensive side of the ball for the 49ers you know and um Dre Greenlaw got hurt in the Super Bowl and the 49ers defense still played well um you know up until we got to the end of the game you know the fourth quarter in overtime but uh but that's also I think cuz you know fatigue but now how are they going to be without Dre greenla for an extended period of time you know how is that defense going to look without him being there because he's a significant piece on that defense besides Fred Warner and Nick Bosa and honga is a good player too you know but they were able to um you know still play well um despite that but that I mean the secondary is that part of the defense that I do worry about with the Niners um also the run I mean the running game was a problem too in the playoffs Aaron Jones had a big game you know the lions running backs had good games as well um I mean they did get their act together in the Super Bowl because Isaiah poo really didn't have an impact but um you know those are like I said those are key guys on the defense I mean all the guys that are on on this list are uh are key players and it's most likely that a lot of these guys are not going to play at the start of the season it's really just now when are they going to come back and um I mean I think um you know for the 49ers those players are signif are significant the Dolphins players are significant you know both those play all those guys are on the defensive side side of the ball like I said I think I mean Tyler Higg being out does hurt the Rams but I don't think it's going to you know prevent them from being a top offense um in the league because of the other guys that they got I mean Cooper cup is healthy I know PUK and akua got banged up but I I that's something that shouldn't be too much of a concern um you know I think the TJ hackinson injury you know going into the year if he doesn't start the year that's going to hurt the the Viking Kings a little bit um but look at the end of the day injuries just there's so many injuries though I I mean it's just they it's already starting you know but um well these are from the previous uh season but still I I mean but even now like there you know guys are getting hurt I mean I talked about the Cowboys uh lineman that's out for the year um you know it's just it's it's not going to end you know injuries are just going to keep on uh impacting the game which is just unfortunate but it is what it is you know so there's there's nothing we really can uh do about it but let's just hope that we don't have as much quarterback injuries like we did last year I mean I know Justin Herbert's banged up Russell Wilson was dealing with a calf injury but I mean the amount of backup quarterbacks that played last year that was that was unbelievable so let's just hope that we uh we avoid that this year so but you know there are some big names on that list though of guys that might not be ready for the start of the season um you know with DeAndre Hopkins you know you want to see him out there because you know you brought in Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd to help out will Levis but DeAndre Hopkins is one of the receivers that you know already has chemistry with Will Lis so now he's out and now you're trying to you know work on things with the new receiver and I saw that will Levis and Calvin Ridley are struggling to uh kind of get on the same page on on deep throws um so we'll see uh if they're able to get on the same page once we get to the regular season but I mean that that's that's pretty much it when talking about the um the injuries uh again you know these are guys recovering from injuries from last year so we'll see when they event eventually do play um but yeah some big names uh on that uh on that list so um so yeah before we go to break well when we come back from our final break uh we will talk about the rankings of the receivers in the NFC South and um I also will towards the end of the show uh talk about some comments on some of uh my videos from uh from some of the segments from yesterday I want to get into that I'm going to try to do those you know towards the end of the show if there there's any uh comments that I want to get to I will uh talk about it because there were comments about you know the Josh Allen and Stefan digs stuff as well as um my receiver rankings for the NFC North so I wanted to get into those and talk about them before uh before the end of the show sorry holding back a sneeze it it always it always happens it's it always happens but uh yeah so that is what uh that that's what I'm going to do when we come back of course I'll rank the receivers but um I also wanted to get into some of the other comments well some of the comments that were made on uh certain segments from previous shows so uh for one final time today uh like I said we'll come back we'll rank the receivers from the NFC South so one final time today stick around and we'll be right back here on the gsmc football podcast
