a new Matlock series is coming this fall to CBS the new trailer for the reboot teases Cathy Bates taking over the name with her reimagined version of the iconic TV character previously Andy Griffith starred in the original Verizon of Matlock spending nearly a decade in the role CBS will reimagine in the show with a new Incarnation featuring baits as mateline Maddie Matlock CBS teases how this version is not the Matlock You're Expecting though she's no less brilliant than her predecessor similarly using her wits to win cases in the courtroom the trailer can be watched below CBS official description of the Matlock reboot reads after achieving success in her younger years the brilliant septu genarian meline Matlock played by Academy and Emmy Award winner Cathy Bates rejoins the workforce at a prestigious Law Firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and Wy tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within inspired by the classic television series of the same name Matt lock gets reimagined with Kathy Bates in the lead other stars of the series include Sky P Marshall Jason Ritter David Del Rio and Leah Lewis Jenny Snyder man developed the show for CBS bate and man are executive producing alongside Joanna Klein Eric Christian Olsen John will and cat coo I can't give everything away but she is on a Mission bit said of Mattie's motivation in the new series per TV Insider the law firm is not allowed to discriminate against her age she uses this to get into the front door and ostensibly to create a whole new life for herself she even keeps things from her husband every now and then at the very end just when you think Matlock has only fooled the people in her life you realize she's also fooled the audience on playing such a big role at the age of 75 she added to have this at the end of my career is an Incredible Gift I never dreamed I would have a third act like this I've never thought at my age I'd be playing such a wonderful role and for Network which so many people are going to see she uses her lifetime of experience and wisdom to really connect with people instead of Googling everything and that helps her solve cases she doesn't live her life through a screen she lives it looking into people's eyes and having real relationships fans will get to see an early look at what the new series is like later this month a premier sneak peek of the new Matlock will debut on Sunday September 2nd on CBS yes the series will then officially premiere on October 177th
