The New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs are in agreement on trade that will send right handed reliever Mark Leer Junior to the Yankees and infielder Ben Cowell and right handed Jack milling to the Cubs source is telling Jeff pass. So a little bit of relief help here on the way. All right. So listen, the Yankees needed to get some relief help. The bullpen has been beaten up, Zack, they got Mark Le Junior. Yeah, they get Mark Le Junior and I think they need to do something because they're starting rotation last couple of weeks even though he has been better. They're not going deep in the games as they were the first couple of months of season. I look at the Yankees and two things jump to me. I think Jack Flaherty would be a really good fit in a Yankee uniform right now. He's turned around kind of the subpar 2023 trade deadline last year to the Orioles didn't pitch all that. Well, he's been really good for the Tigers. I think he's going to be on the move. I think that he would fit the Yankees and Then another for the Yankees looking for a bat, Brent Rooker having a monster season kind of doing it quietly out in Oakland. 25 home runs. How about a 957 ops? 75 runs batted in though. The Yankees started to score some runs. Sunday last night they got, after it last night in Philadelphia, I think they could use a bat in the lineup too. He's got 100 and 70 ops plus that's the fourth best in baseball. How good Rooker has been and under club control through 2027. Quick thought on Mark leiter 13.1 strikeout per nine, which is the best of his career with more on him over to Steven Joel. All right. Listen, Mark leiter Junior. Good split. That split has been a very effective pitch handles, left handers and right handers. So you look at this, Brian Cashman has done a really nice job almost every year bringing in bullpen help, right. He's got some guys, I mean, Clay Holmes was a guy that was sort of a set up guy in Pittsburgh and he turned into the closer there. How does he impact the bullpen? And do they still need more? So, I feel like they've now accomplished the minimum today, which was, they had to go out and get one more reliever. They trust Mark Leiter Junior, the nephew of our Al Leer, uh, is a guy they have liked over the years and they get him. He has two years of control beyond this year. Remember Clay Holmes is a free agent at the end of the year. Who knows if they'll use some mix to close in the future? But it's all about now. This is an all in team. Once you make the Juan Soto trade and SOTO and Judge are playing like Grick and you have to honor that and go for it. So the minimum was a bat. They got chas and a reliever. I think they'll still look for a starting pitcher one more lever and a supplementary bat. How much of that do they get done by 6 p.m. Eastern time? I'm not sure but this was minimum for today. So tell me about the starting pitching because they have Clark Schmidt coming back at some point. We're hearing that Nestor Cortez is somebody they're talking to other teams about potentially in a trade. Are they looking to sell and buy? And, and what, what type of starter? And does it take him out of Tanner Scott now with the bullpen? I don't know if it takes them out of Tanna scott because I, again, I think they love another guy. I think they love another guy who they think could handle the ninth inning because we've seen Clay Holmes, he's kind of like, really good or really not good and they'd like somebody else, especially left handed, you know , if they could get it and like Scott, uh why are we hearing Cortez. It's so much like 2022 Steve when they traded Jordan Montgomery who was 29 with a year and a half left free agency for Harrison Bader. They almost did a trade like that yesterday where they got Tommy Edmon who also had a year and a half left just like, like Bader. Can they take somebody like Cortez turn him into something else? They need bullpen another, a starter with prospects who they like better or get prospects that they trade someplace else? The idea is to be better by six o'clock today and fortified for this where they feel like, like they traded Montgomery because they weren't sure he'd be in a postseason rotation. Are they sure the way they stack up right now that Cortez would be in the rotation, right? You know, it's gonna be Cole if Hill is standing at the end, the stuff gets him into the rotation. If Rodon keeps pitching, like he has the last two games he's in, do they trust Stroman more than him? Do they trust Schmidt more than him? So, I think they want to see, can they do better than that? They are as committed a team to try to go for it as anyone?
