Intro what's up big Ballers shot hollers Big Ken here welcome from the grid to the rim Sports Talk Show join join by my co-host Brandon what's up brother how you doing man good Ken how's it going man thanks for having me on here yeah I'm doing good good to have you um we're missing our other co-host Monty today he's out his kids he's supposed to be on but Monty uh what we look forward to seeing you you know next week and other weeks to come like always me and Monty been doing this show for about a year and a half together so anyways college football is back folks football's here it's week zero um exciting time of the year in my opinion the best time of the year besides March Madness college football is college football NFL is it for me man very exciting during the fall um man so we got a week zero game today well before we get into that we'll talk about some subjects we're going to talk about today obviously we're talk we're going to talk about college football some top 25 matchups off this week zero match up today with Florida State and Georgia Tech you know talk about the new playoff format with 12 teams this year which has been long overdue so that's gonna be interesting we got some information on that and then we'll get into some NFL talk with uh JJ McCarthy's injury and some really interesting subjects with CD lamb and Hassan CID lamb of the Dallas Cowboys and Hassan reik of the New York Jets holding out on their contracts but um without further Ado let's get into week zero college football man uh Florida state is playing WK0 #10 Florida State Vs. Georgia Tech Georgia Tech in Dublin Ireland today this is I believe the second year in a row that college football has had a game in Dublin Ireland Ireland last year it was Notre Dame which makes sense that Fighting Irish and then Navy their um Rivals you know Navy so um Florida state is ranked number 10 Georgia Tech wasn't bad last year they finished the season seven- six they were seven and five going into a bowl game can't remember what bowl game they went to but they lost the finished with seven and six of course we know what happened in Florida State they got destroyed after you know their quarterback you know got hurt with the his broken ankle you know they get down to a third string quarterback and then no one shows up in the Georgia game I mean all their all their main starters are sitting out trying to go in the NFL so no one just even shows up for that Florida State game after their quarterback gets hurt and a lot of people think they got snubbed obviously not making the college football playoffs but which might be true because they were undefeated but their main their quarterback you know Jordan Travis was hurt and there was a clause in the college football format if you if you have a key player hurt it could snub you from the college football playoffs that's kind of the thing with um you know Florida State last year then without but then at first I thought I felt kind of bad for him but then after what happened with uh another players showing up in their bowl game I didn't feel so bad for them anymore after that so um what's your thoughts on this Florida state Georgia Tech game Georgia Tech has pull out some upsets I think in the past do you think they can pull off an upset today in Ireland against Florida State Brandon uh I do not um I know Florida State lost a lot of players from last year and however I I I think they're going to be coming in strong they had a pretty solid recruiting class um also as we're live they just scored a touchdown uh four minutes into the game so it's 7 nothing Florida State uh live updates uh yeah I don't have it unfortunately I'm glad you got it on yeah yeah it's it's on ESPN so but yeah it's the Stadium's beautiful by the way the they've had some camera shot angles right behind the um right behind the quarterback going downfield and that's just a beautiful Stadium over there in Ireland wow cool I think they just went for two off of a fake Pat oh wow they're open up with some fireworks they showed the highlight of the touchdown and then they just the camera pans to the to the next cut and they're just running into the end zone I I think they ran some all right here it is swinging gate with looks like the kicker is lined up as the quarterback The Swinging gate center snaps it and just does like a shovel it does like a shovel snap to the tight end lined up behind the o line on the left side of the hash oh wow did he get in yeah he got in for an easy run that I that was pretty impressive I would absolutely go and look back on the highlights of that uh that play that's look at that later on bring that up to the Referee Association have them take a look yeah be ready for that this season they're probably school kids because they talk about swinging gates at training all the time for extra points kind what is teaching us as officials is is teaching us to be ready for anything just don't assume it's just gonna be a normal extra point you know so it always keep on our toes wow that's crazy man yeah I would go back and look at that I described it yeah you know I've been wake that long long day yesterday I haven't described it all that well but yeah it was essentially a swinging gate where this where the center had just yeah I gota watch that yeah go back and watch that pretty impressive um but yeah so I think Flor State's gonna take this especially being the heavy favorite coming out yeah they're favorite heavly you know we still know how they'll come out with you know what happened to them last year but I think yeah they look they're already off to a good start and it you know we we could talk about more as the show goes on but you know if it gets out of hand pretty quickly then we know Florida State's got this game if if Georgia Tech can respond and answer a little bit and kind of keep it within two scores at halftime they might have a slight chance but you know it's probably gonna be a blowout um right right yeah um Wk1 Top 25 Match Ups so I know this is week zero but there are some notable week one games you know um maybe we have some early predictions on that you know we talk about more next week with week one if you come back you know for week one and mam Monte would definitely do it I'm sure he'll be back for week one but um there's three top 25 matchups in week one though you have number one Georgia versus number 14 Clemson number seven Notre Dame versus number 20 Texas A&M and number 13 LSU versus number 23 uh USC um I believe CL is playing at Georgia can't remember can't remember where n if it's norre Dame or Texas A&M for that game and then I know USC is playing at L at number 13 LSU um that's interesting uh OB Clemson has had Clemson's been some Kryptonite for the SEC in the past against Alabama I don't know if they'll do anything against Georgia though I think Georgia will win that game but it might be close you know but I think Texas A&M could definitely beat another day I think nor Dame's always overrated and um yeah I think I think nor Dame can I think Texas Texas A&M can definitely beat Notre Dame and then not not too sure what to think about LSU and USC because LC kind of had an off year last year USC wasn't very good last year either so I don't know what to think about that game but those those are some interesting um week one matchup so you got you got any thoughts on that Brandon yeah so Georgia Clemson that's going to be the uh Chick-fil-A kickoff game or I'm sorry it's now the afflac kickoff game it used to be Chick-fil-A they play at the uh mercedesbenz Dome where uh uh the Falcons play usually it's the SC it's an ACC match up just kick the season off so um yeah I'm going with Georgia on this one uh not a Clemson fan by any means but I they I feel like a lot of their recruits came in last last season and red shirted so I expect them to be stronger than they were last year and be a team that's going to compete for the playoffs uh Notre Dame I I believe they're gonna have a pretty solid defense this year they've got uh um yeah they've got at least one star at least somewhere in every part of the defensive back yeah yeah Howard cross will probably be a first round pick um they got a linebacker too that's I know it's uh in the All-American pre-season rankings um uh they got some good quarterback play too but it's going to be tough I is it is it in N Dame or is it in let me look that up but uh yeah um yeah we'll find out hold on real quick folks but uh because that will make a difference for sure yeah um okay so it's in oh it's in Texas College Station makes it more interesting you know if nor Dame wins that one to start the season H they're they're for real yeah that's a hard opener man yeah it is that's a tough place to play yeah um yeah Tex's they they've usually they've always got a good squad ready to play yeah um yeah yeah I'm excited man I'm I'm definitely more of an NFL fan as far as watching paying attention keeping up with it um but as far as College it's just it's the atmosphere it's so fun it's yeah just about college yes yeah I mean lot all the tailgating and yeah just everything about college football is exciting yeah leading up to the game you know was so exciting in college football you know always always a great experience and just watching at home just hang out on a Saturday at the buddies and you're just watching football all day just game after game after game there's yeah college football is exciting for that but I like the NFL too like you said but I like college football just for the atmosphere like you said it's it's exciting and this kind of gets you started for the weekend before the NFL plays on Sunday so it's it's cool um Monty n for your information I don't if you know but Monty and I are going to um a game with my dad um November 2nd University of Tennessee is playing Kentucky and me and Monte are flying out because my my mom and dad and my sister live in Tennessee and so we're flying out there my dad has tickets for me and Monty to go to the University of Tennessee Kentucky game on November 2nd so we'll be in SEC territory never been to SEC game my dad said it's an experience that he said University of Tennessee puts on a pretty good show man he's like man they they love their football down there he said it's he's like it's an experience that you probably you've probably never seen before so he said we should enjoy it he's like they're really big in football down there so um SEC has been the best conference in a while in college football so I do think other conferences are catching up but sec's definitely been you know dominant the past 20 years yeah so they love their football down there so be fun awesome then after that me and Monte are flying out to San Diego for a couple days to hang out with some some of my buddies in San Diego then we're both flying back to our home so it's going to be a fun trip the first week of uh November go and see my family first in Tennessee then hang out uh in San Diego San Diego for a couple days after that oh be safe that sounds so fun man yeah it's gonna be so yeah college football is cool man um so there was a big week two game but we talk about more in week two obviously but Michigan has no joke a real game on week two usually Michigan usually Michigan plays cupcakes the first like three games of the year but they have a no crap game like no I mean a top 10 matchup they're playing against number four Texas at Michigan week two so that's uh surprising for my team Michigan got the Hat on because they usually don't play anyone good until they get into their conference play you know that's kind of been a snub on them they're they talk about that all last year about how they haven't played anybody and now they're going in the college football playoffs obviously they answered the call winning the whole thing last year but um well well if if they're snub in Michigan for that then why why does nobody snub Ohio State for that yeah exactly they're the biggest culprits yeah exactly and I of course you know I hate Ohio State so I'm with you right I'm a th% um but uh and Michigan is playing fresen state in week one it's not a top 25 matchup but Fresno State is kind of they're a sleeper team so obviously Michigan's gonna be F he heavily favored in that game because they're playing at Michigan but I'm telling you man Fresno State is not like um they're they're this they're kind of like a feisty team they've been to some bowl games past two three years they're not a bad team so it's not like Michigan's playing against these cupcakes like I'm saying like they have some yeah challenging games in the first couple weeks I couldn't believe it when I saw their schedule like there's they have a rough schedule this year so um if they could survive his schedule and make the college football playoffs that'll be crazy because their schedule is not easy this year man um yeah well New College Football Playoffs let's talk about uh college football playoffs this new uh 12 team format so here's the information on the 12 team format um seeds one seeds one through four get a first round byy in the first week and then seeds five through 12 play each other so it's almost like March Madness five five plays 12 six plays 11 seven plays 10 eight plays nine so very similar to a March Madness format in the first round you know March Madness um after that obviously the winners play who wins these games I think the the winner of the eight N Seed will play the number one seed and so on so forth um the first round games were on December 21st at the higher Seeds home field whoever's whoever is the better team on paper will have home field advantage and then uh the semifinal games are being played in two bowl games um January 9 and January 10th January 9th the semi-final will be in the Orange Bowl and then January 10th the semi-final will be in the Cotton Bowl and then the championship game is supposed to be January 20th this year so a little bit later than normal couple weeks later normal since of course there's more games obviously so um I like it I think this was long overdue like I said in the opening I'm glad they finally went to this I was okay with only eight teams but now they made 12 so what's your thoughts on this um new college football playf format Brandon yeah I'd like it it's it's what we've all been asking for uh even even after they put in a four team tournament uh we wanted better and they're giving it to us now so I think I think the 12 teams think they formatt it well um so yeah I also believe that uh so after the first round games with the HomeField Advantage when the the games at the one two3 four seeds play uh that's going to be the Rose Bowl uh the Fiesta Bowl um yeah and then the big games yeah on everyone knows about especially the rose B yeah that's a big think cotton ball and I can't think of the other one right now but uh but yeah I believe the Orange Bowl and sugar bowl I I think they wanted to make the Rose Bowl one of the semi-final games so the Rose Bowl refuses to move from New Year's Day yeah I think was the issue so um but I mean it's obviously recognized as a rose bolt or it's historic bow game but still um yeah I'm excited for it uh I'm excited to see how it works out I'm kind of G to be interested in seeing how they seed it out obviously conference winners will be in there and teams that probably second in the conference that have had major wins with one loss I would expect and um I wouldn't expect a lot of uh two lost teams to be in there so it's kind of gonna be interesting to see if they you have some might get a couple of two lost teams maybe maybe yeah I can see if especially with how the SEC and the Big 10 have aligned up this year if if you see any of them get two losses but you've you know let's say Michigan only loses to Ohio State and they only lose to Texas then like are you gonna leave them out for losing to two teams that are probably in the playoffs right now yeah yeah yeah it'll be interesting to see how they see that out too there's still going to be complaints to them this season of oh they should have made it they got snub but there's always GNA be that whoever's GNA rank 13 and 14th is gonna is gonna feel that but no how many teams you make the the the first team out is always gonna have that saying well we had a better schedule we had a tougher schedule they're going to say all kinds of things you know it is what it is man you're never gonna make this completely perfect but uh but it's a lot better with this 12 team format there's no doubt because I feel like if you can't make the top 12 it's like man sorry it sucks but better luck you know next year man um yeah and it's G to bring Prestige back to these Bold games also I feel like because that's what I feel like too because yeah Bowl games have kind of gone out because a lot of people are sitting out you know now people aren't going to sit out because now they're playing for yeah Champion a potential Championship so they will play I person don't like players sitting now I know there's a lot of feelings on that you know because they don't want to ruin the rest of their career playing in a bowl game but I personally don't like players sitting I feel like if you're on the team and you're healthy you should play man so yeah that's how I feel yeah I agree like the Liberty Insurance B I don't even know if that's a thing but feels like it is it's just all these bowl games we've never heard of that it's just it's just yeah they don't want to play in a meaningless bowl game that part I do understand like you don't want to play in a bowl game when you're six and six and seven and five you know like yeah I get it there's so many bowl games right now it's crazy there there is too many they probably need to cut down on some of them honestly they won't because they get money yeah they the sponsorship money is so good for those it's it's honestly good television for when you're at a Christmas party and it's just on the background it's kind that's always how I look at them no I agree it's always a good time with family and you said like said friends during the Christmas holiday season you know so you're right you're right man um but you're also right to picky back what you said about um yeah so the the power five conference winners are automac in number one team so those are the first five teams in are are the winners of the power five conferences and the next seven teams are all the next teams that are the next seven best like the top 12 so whoever the next best seven teams will be in um there is potential for under like a a small school to be in I can't remember who the the 12th seed was last year but they were undefeated and a lot people felt like they could have been playing for a national champion I can't remember if it was Liberty or something but yeah you know here's the thing I love David versus Goliath scenarios I'm always a big Underdog guy I would love to see uh a David take down a Goliath that's it's always fun it's good for sports but here's the thing um more times than not this doesn't happen um I think Liberty would have been crushed last year against these teams they'll be losing probably 48 to zero or something um Can Underdog teams pull off a big upset from time time absolutely and there there are some teams that can do it you know Appalachian State beat Michigan 20 years ago very embarrassing you know when Michigan was the top five team the first game of the year that changed everything obvious they weren't after that but um so yes teams can do it from time to time but here's my thing this is nothing against small schools but I still think they have the Firepower um to do it um they'll probably more than likely like 85 90% of the time they would get smashed so um an occasional upset what's your thought on that yeah I agree I'd rather watch good football than kind of see A Cinderella Story potentially happen but I'm also here for the chaos so if this team really does seem for real um then I would like to see them match up however more often than not um even with TCU uh two years ago um you know they they took out Michigan yeah Michigan was not ready for them they they overlooked them big time yeah yeah and then you see TCU the next week it the national championship game was a joke yeah that was horrible Michigan would played better I be so mad about Michigan was like would they have won probably not but they wouldn't lose those 66 to7 or whatever the heck it was they would be in the game you know it was some crazy ridiculous score Michigan wouldn't lose that bad they would lose but they wouldn't lose like that that's why I was so mad at Harbaugh for not taking TCU seriously that year he thought they just automatically get into the championship game so yeah TCU pull off the surprise on them yeah for sure yeah yeah that was that was really bad um now you said the power five conferences um Big 10 Big 12 sec ACC is there another one because the Pack 12 back they going to put uh Oregon State or Washington State in there I guess yeah I don't know that's another that's another interesting subject about these conferences you know Big 10 is like got 18 teams in it now with moving over what Utah I know those four teams that came from the was Oregon Washington I think Ruckers came in as well well Ruckers was already in the Big 10 oh they were okay I but yeah it is Oregon Washington I think Utah and there's a fourth team I can't think of it right now I had it in my notes last year when me and Monte talk about but four teams moved over from the Pack 12 into the Big 10 so they have so many teams right now Texas Oklahoma moved in the SEC um wait uh USC moved oh USC is in the Big 10 now okay oh yeah it's two yeah Utah is in a different conference it's the two Califor it's the two Los Angeles team It's UCLA UCLA I mean U USC UCLA Oregon and I think udub are the four teams that moved over camon where Utah went I don't think Utah is in the big big 10 I think they're in the Big 12 they're in the Big 12 I believe you're right can we we need to change the name of those conferences there's not 10 teams in the Big 10 there's not 12 teams in the Big 12 we need to come up with new names yeah I agree with you they call it Big 10 I think it's like the big 16 now because they already had 12 teams in with like Ruckers moving over several years ago and someone else moved over or Nebraska yeah Nebraska moved yeah they moved over so they were like the big 12 or now they got 16 teams or something ridiculous like that you know so um we gotta fix this this G for sure I me you can call one the big conference and then the other can be the uh I don't know the well they can come up with something I don't know they need to change these names though I'm dud they need come up with some different conference names I agree with you because like they're not that's not the original when they made these conferences originally yes it was like that but now it's not so it's not very I names yeah this either the pack eight pack 10 pack 12 they always changes however many teams they had in it so they did it but yeah obviously Big 10 couldn't call themselves The Big 12 because there was another Big 12 Conference already you know but they had to come up with something I don't know but right yeah and I don't want to hear anything about like oh it's tradition why we're the Big 10 well I don't you don't care about tradition anymore there's nothing traditional about college football like nil deals are in place people have been M up college football a lot honestly and you have SMU in the ACC like that's the middle of middle of Dallas Texas is over there in the the ACC conference like it's nothing's traditional anymore I want these names changed I want hear yeah it used to be traditional but everything's changed if anyal some people like it some people don't um some people think it's messed up college football and college sports in general because they they they like college sports because of them not having money like there's still Purity in college football and college basketball compared to going pro when you're worried about the money you know so people liked college sports because that didn't exist but now it does and there's all these transfers all over the place but um you should listen to um Mike Gundy uh Mike gundy's comments on nil deals I I heard on Rich Eisen this week um he's he's basically stating that to he's telling his players that his agents need to stop calling him and stop talking to him he can't talk to them until December which is still a month before the playoffs so can you imagine just like NFL it's a free agency starts a month before the playoffs yeah can you imagine yeah so I mean it's it's these a lot of these coaches now they're playing they're playing the agent role they're playing the GM role and I honestly would not be surprised if that's why saving got though yeah and and Harbaugh as well I mean Harbaugh can go do that in the NFL yeah but why would you want to do that in college it's yeah I agree yeah and he is in the NFL now being the Chargers new head coach he kind of has to now yeah his little little uh yeah there's more talk still about his uh Scandal last year yep with his uh his one assistant coach still in the whatever he was doing still in signs or whatever the hell he was doing or he went to a game and wasn't exposed to go to like a he wasn't they were not allowed to go to other teams games to like um to tape them or whatever so he was doing something like that you know B thing yeah yeah so anyways let's get into the NFL man now we're talking about NFL Oopening NFL uh still a couple weeks away from the NFL kickoff obviously NFL has a bunch of preseason games going on right now but there's um three big topics for the NFL right now you know cidd lamb holding out you know Hassan reck and of course JJ McCarthy's uh injury um let's JJ Mccarthy injury start off with JJ McCarthy I'm a Michigan guy obviously do I like JJ McCarthy yes but I talked about this in last year's college football playoff show I think even in the NFL draft I was mentioning JJ McCarthy I think we talked about JJ McCarthy probably who was the most quarterback we were surprised getting picked in the first round of mine was JJ McCarthy I think yours was too um I think he's a good player but I just don't know about him in the passing game because we didn't see him throw enough at Michigan um so I personally think his injury tan his miniscus is a blessing in disguise because I think it gives him a year to sit under a veteran quarterback he gets to watch film he gets to see how this veteran quarterback you know Sam darnold play prepares for his games I think it's a blessing in disguise that he's not that he he's not starting I mean um it sucks that they got hurt you don't want to see anyone get hurt in ter miniscus in a preseason game and a lot of reason why the rookie quarterbacks are playing in the preseason they do this every year because they have to prove themselves they have to play not the whole game but they have to play at least two or three three or four series to kind of see where they're at you know so just to get them ready so they're not going into you know week one of the real season not without any competition so um uh I think it's a blessing that he got hurt though what what do you think on that I think JJ McCarthy is good that he's sitting out for here because I think he could have been maybe a bust if he's playing in week one in the NFL yeah um it it sometimes it is better to see the rookies sit out um in I mean you look at last season with CJ Stroud you know he was he was on fire yeah yeah especially at the end of the season um we really saw what he's about and that he's legit um and you have examples like his teammate Sam darnold who got thrown to the fire with bad coaching right away and he's his career is pretty much ruined yeah um as a player uh could he have been good I I think so but it just he just was ruined completely by bad o line bad coaching no Talent around him so that really hurt him we don't want to see that happen to guys uh I think McCarthy I we'll see how he plays I don't know but I think a year to sit it it will be good for him and watch and especially with how Jordan aon's gone down and then I don't know if the locker rooms feeling anything about Justin Jefferson and didn't he get a new contract or okay yeah so um okay so you don't have that as a distraction but you you've got some Talent there you've got a good old line and you've got a a pretty good running back in Aaron Jones coming in so he's got talent around him and I believe it should stay that way but they've we'll see how Sam darn I'm interested to see how darnold does uh yeah the best team he's had well he he was he was a Niner last year but he didn't have much time to play behind bir so we'll see how darnold does but I think this will be a good chance for McCarthy to sit and if darnold shines I think it'll be interesting to see they come back and compete for the job since they invested so much in him so yeah yeah it's not a bad not the worst thing to happen but uh I know he's got some speed under him he's kind of sneaky with that because he likees sit yeah he runs a 4540 yeah he can run he he can definitely get he can definitely make you defend him on the you know from end to end you know yeah he's got speed yeah he he is very elusive he is surprising at that yeah run like a four five something 40 he's faster than most not all quarterbacks of course but he's faster than most quarterbacks in the NFL so I think most quarterbacks in NFL run like four sevs 48s 49 some guys might been running fives it's really slow but most guys I think most guys are around like 47 48 for for NFL quarterbacks I've looked up you know so he's 45 so he's definitely faster than average of course he's not you know like Lamar Jackson run like a 43 but but he's but he's definitely faster than than normal um right yeah I think he does and and when and when this guy does come back he will compete with Sam Dar for sure JJ McCarthy will compete for him um and I agree you there is Talent around him so he may have not been a bus this year obviously we'll never know because obviously he's not GNA play but um traditionally though like most rookie quarterbacks did sit out you know for the first couple years you know Aaron Rogers sat out for a couple years on Brett Favre you know and there's a lot of guys like that but just lately when you're on bad teams yes you're starting right away so that's what's been kind of happening late lately you know you know you know CJ straw was a big surp I won't say surprise but yeah he had a better year than what people expected in his first year which I was really happy for him and then I think the Alabama quarterback you know at you know Carolina you know what's his name Young Bryce young you know I really like him don't like Alabama but I do like him and think he'll have a better year too but it was kind of talking to what you're saying about Sam Don like he really he had no Talent around him in Carolina and they had a bad year only winning you know what three games last year you know that that's that's where Rook that's he he's just thrown into the fire because they have a bad team you know and Houston Texans was kind of the same way they were really bad the year before I think they had the same record like three and 14 were like one one of the worst teams in the NFL then last year they had a really good draft you know gu in CJ Stout a bunch of other guys and they and they took off they finished 10 and seven going into the playoffs and upsetting Cleveland in the Wild Card G you know game and then eventually losing to you know Baltimore in the next game but they they played well though um yeah uh craziness let's talk about uh you know Cee Dee Lamb CD lamb uh Monty told me to put out shout out get Jerry Jones Jerry Jones does every freaking Year all in CD lamb is in the last year of his rookie contract so that's why he's negotiating because it's he's in his last year and yet Jerry Jones always does this you know he doesn't want to sign people right away he he he's gotta make drama I mean he creates these hold outs you know so um and CD lamb yes these guys make a lot of money and some people don't like that but the money is there to be made I'm telling you if your son was playing like you would not have any freaking problem with this but the problem is is 98 99% of us are not going to be able to play in the NFL but uh CD lamb has every right to negotiate for his contract though because he had 135 receptions last year I think led the league in receptions he's been good his first three years there helped he's got he's helped get the Cowboys in the playoffs all three years he's been there Unfortunately they don't get very far but you know he has made them help make them a playoff team he's good um the rumor is is he's trying to get um the rumor is he's trying to settle for just under what Justin Jefferson got with Minnesota Vikings so he's trying to be the number two highest paid NFL wide receiver Justin Jefferson got a crazy deal I think like like I think like 34 million a year or something and like 110 million guaranteed and I don't know all the contract rights but he like he has like 110 million guaranteed for like four years and could get more based on what what what what his play but um you know cidd lamb is trying to get right underneath that I think CID lamb wants to get paid right around just under I think 33 million a year for four yeah so Jefferson he's getting he signed four years 140 million 110 are guaranteed yep I knew 110 was the guaranteed part I read that yesterday too so yeah cidd lamb is trying to get somewhere not quite that but he's trying to get right under that he's trying to say he's right there with Justin je Justin Jefferson so I think he has a good argument um they're both really good obviously but there's other really good receivers too besides them that you know they're not I think they're not in their you know negotiating stages yet but they might this might pave a path for that too so um you got the you got the receiver at the Bengals that's really good um Jamar Chase Jamar chase out yeah you know obviously you got well he already has the big deal going to Miami you know on Speed Demon cheetah you know yeah the old Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill got it yeah Tyreek Hill so yeah there's some good wide receivers out there for sure man we'll see what happens they need to sign him fast though they need to sign him before week one I know that but I think I think he will sign though because Cowboy the Cowboys guys always seem to get them signed eventually and I don't think there's as much drama with with your team we'll get into that next but um I don't think there's as much drama with the Dallas Cowboys I think they'll work this out I think they'll work this out and City lamb and Jerry Jones seem to get along just fine I don't think there's as much drama in Dallas land unfortunately just Jerry Jones likes to do this he doesn't want to sign people right away he he always creates a hold out for a couple weeks um yeah but let's get into your guy New York Jet guy Hassan reck um he doesn't Hasaan Reddick want to sign I'll let you cover that because you have a lot of information New York Jet obviously your team you're wearing the hat so fill me in on the Hassan reck situation there Brandon yeah so throughout the season the the New York Jets had no intentions to sign undrafted free agent rookie Bryce Huff that they brought in who played extremely well and the Jets rotation of the defensive line is they like to have four defensive ends and they like to have about four or five defensive tackles that they'll sub out throughout the game in which typically no one plays more than 65% of the snap counts throughout the season including quinnon Williams because of the packages they have so uh they let price Huff walk he signs with the Eagles uh the day uh day two or three three of the draft the Jets trade for Hassan reck a 2026 conditional third round pick which the condition is if he plays more than 67% of the snaps uh then the Jets owe the Eagles a second round pick I believe so uh Jets trade a third round pick to Hassan reik and Hassan reik is known to be sitting out as he wants a new contract he is over 50 sacks the past Four Seasons uh top five pass rusher in the NFL statistically um only player in NFL history to record 10 plus sacks three straight Seasons with three different teams the Panthers the Cardinal and the Eagles um he's turning 30 he's in his prime he wants a new deal as he should be getting the money he's he's earned uh the Jets trade form with a verbal agreement that they're not going to work a new deal he says that's fine afterwards the Jets trade Jonathan Frank the Myers to the Broncos for a sixth round pick next year uh that sixth round that actually opened up around 10 million in contract space and Hassan reik says hey you know you didn't put pen I didn't put I didn't sign anything saying I'm gonna play for this contract I do want a new contract you've just opened up more money I want a new contract like this is a guy that was going to help me out in the line and he's gone and you're going to need me now so I want this new contract I want the money I'm owed I want the money that I've earned I want the money that I'm gonna be playing up to for you to pay me this money so the Jets Joe Douglas general manager absolutely terrible that you trade for a guy who wants a new contract with no intentions of signing him to a new contract um he's also horrible with contracts uh he signs bad players for big money and he won't pay good players so this is a good player that he's not going to pay and he's going to I feel like the Jets are just not going to pay him but it's GNA come to a point where Hassan renck has been penalized so much for not showing up to Camp that he's going to have to come back and say hey yeah all right I'll I'll resign can we work something out and the Jets are going to have what they want to pay which is going to be low and he's probably got to pay he's probably going to play under that contract because if he sits out the rest of the season doesn't play at all the Jets are gonna ow own his rights and it's gonna have to be worked out in some way because you can't lose a third round pick trading for a guy who's just not GNA play at all you gotta give him something and he's a good player that I I feel kind of feel like with the passive rushers we have he is a bit of a luxury but it kind of scares me that we draft Will McDonald in the first round last year and we still trade for a pass pressure that's going to be playing on that same side so that scares me that he's really not that good because you still bring in the pass pressure when there's other needs that safety and linebacker and receiver that you just neglected to address in the offseason anyway so um I'm I I I really feel honestly this is the last like this was the last thing that Joe Douglas did that I'm like this is ridiculous this guy needs to go at the end of the year I'm I'm so sick of just bad dra it's it's not like he has a whole lot of bad draft picks it's he's he's he's good at making trades but I'm just so sick of this guy sleep at the wheel during free agency I'm so sick of him just hoarding cap space for really no reason I know we gota be paying sauce and Bree Hall and Garrett Wilson all coming up and I'm sure that's going to be addressed but we've signed so many people to one-year contracts that the space is opening up I don't see why we can't work out a two-year deal for an Elite pass merer right now I really don't see why they're so stubborn on not making this deal happen but it's I'm not I'm very 5050 on who wins out in this situation but I know the Jets are losing right now and Hassan relic's really losing himself also so it's been a complete loose lose situation on both B yeah and I know your coach s has made some comments I was reading that yesterday he he said like he's not worried about it and that some people say that's like a slap in the face like there's some kind of maybe there's some kind of it could just be you know rumors but there's some kind of tension between now the coach and Hassan re because he's just acting like he doesn't really care about this situation so and defense though the coach has to get ready for this season whether he's playing or not but um s's kind of a stubborn I like him I think he's a good coach but he is kind of feisty himself and I and I and I can kind of see that a little bit you know so he might be a little bit abrasive you know he he's pretty bad with the media he's always saying dumb things that just comes off weird why he says it like the whole Aaron Rogers situation yeah um I I don't know why he addressed it that way there's so many better ways to go about that I honestly I want Solon um he he he yeah he changed the defense but I feel like if you fire him and you keep Albright as your DC um I kind of feel like he can do the same thing Salah did with keeping the philosophy the formations the schemes all the same um and the Personnel is going to be stay familiar if we can keep these guys together um I I think solo needs to go I Hackett needs to go Joe Douglas needs to go they need a clean house this offseason regardless of if they win a Super Bowl which I don't see I would love to see that happen I don't this is the year to do it but coming back hopefully he's okay this year not four plays into the season what do you think about that Aaron Rogers coming back apparently they had a horrible practice this week uh so we we'll see how seems like there's just complete dysfunction this week in uh and with just players communicating and playing together and they couldn't really Jael this week in training camp I Heards or practice so we'll see man I'm uh no if if they miss out in the playoffs like those three need to go yeah I hope Aaron Rogers doesn't get hurt and he plays a full year whether they make the playoffs or not he isn't any younger obviously we know what he can do but he's definitely not getting any younger he's he's at 40 and yeah we'll see we'll see how how it goes with the Jets there's another crazy rumor I I don't know if you hear this before we close but there's rumor that this whole New York Jet drama that my sanders is like secretly like Cowboys are trying to sign him and I was mad at the Cowboys about not getting a running back during the draft like you're talking about the de draft issues I was so freaking pissed about the Cowboys is not getting running back they're saying yeah miles Sanders might be a cowboy have you heard anything like that in Jets land because I just read this yesterday I you can't believe everything you read but um yeah I was reading something about this like they could lose miles Sanders and he's better than any running back the Cowboys currently have on their roster um wait a second um so mil Sanders was playing for the Panthers last season um yeah he was with the Jets you're right somehow but they they they squeak that in there the Jets though for some reason when I was reading this did he get signed by it I don't know but no no Justin uh he was an eagle obviously then he goes to the Panthers um yeah I remember him being with the Eagles he was pretty good with the Eagles yeah Cowboys are trying to sign him though yeah um so I think so what it sounds like is Jonathan Brooks the uh the Panthers uh second round draft pick from Texas running back um he must be playing really good and Miles Sanders was not good at all last season so I can see them moving on and having Jan Brooks be their guy that wouldn't surprise me at all um Cowboy should trade for Sanders I'm not a fan of Miles Sanders I just he's not a bad player he's just I feel severely overrated yeah yeah yeah but I mean he for what y'all need I think that'd be a good I think it's good for the Bo though he will at least help them out I agree he's not like a top tier running back but he's he he's better than what we have right now I mean you know he would probably the best out of that group and he would they could just do running back by committee and hopefully he'll have um a good year you know yeah I mean you guys tend to throw about 50 times a game so if you just he can he can get three yard why running that's why running is still important I know it's a more of a passing league but you know the NFL is more of a passing League you still need a good running game because you can't just throw every single possession you got to have some kind of balance and yeah espe Dak Prescott being interception prone in big games you gota be a have a solid running game so doesn't have to throw 50 times like you said where there was a case there's a higher chance of more interceptions pick sixes yeah and mil Sanders is good at receiving out of the backfield too so he killed us yeah when he was an eagle he killed us on that you're absolutely right he can't he is a good receiver out the back so he could do more than one thing yeah know um I like du Von you know he's going into his second year but you know I like him he I I hope he does well he's kind of like a a little bit of a Cinderella story but he's not but even though I like guvon he's not like a number one running back in NFL he's nowhere near that you know right now you know he might be later on his career maybe but he's kind of like a a big time Underdog right now but I'm definitely rooting for him but um oh yeah but miles Sanders could help out the Cowboys you know for sure but um yeah so yeah there's already a lot of drama in the NFL hasn't even started yet man so uh a lot of drama in the preseason games you know unfortunately I can't even watch most preseason games because they're not coming on but maybe I'll be able to catch some today you know after the my scrimmage my my peeee jambur oh yeah yeah I have fun at that man wish I could be out there yeah that's but yeah that's it folks I guess we'll close but you know Friday Friday Closing Night Lights has started my dad said in Tennessee they already had the first Friday Night Lights game last last night Tennessee Goes to School really early I guess high schools of Tennessee start really early they're not even start here for like another two weeks but uh my my first game for officiating you know me and bran are officials of course we met we've mentioned that multiple times but our first game is September 5th and six so um so our first game isn't until after Labor Day weekend and there's High School already playing their first Friday Friday Night Lights games last night so um anyways uh good luck to all the high school players out
